mine has 245k on it. Bought it with 138K from a used car lot. We went to look and i saw it in the back covered in dust (hadn't even been placed on the lot yet) Your video is accurate as far as parts needing replaced at our mileage. I will be replacing the whole exhaust system ( i needed a new o2 sensoand the stock exhaust is pretty rusty) I replaced the radiator as well as the stock one finally cracked. I will also be replacing the two front axles and both upper and lower ball joints (due to mileage. Currently runs fine). I charged the ac system once, replaced my valve cover gaskets. I also need to replace the timing belt. I also replaced the rear latch handle and locking system and the front driver side door locking mechanism and new cable. Other than the usual maintenance stuff, our vehicles are super solid and very underrated! throughout the seasons other than winter, i scrub out the engine on a regular basis with simple green and brushes from dollar tree (best place i have found for engine cleaning supplies) I also sprayed the bottom of the vehicle with a rust preventer and i also scrub out all of the suspension components. Trying to get mine to 500k miles!! Currently 04 with a 3 inch lift and i have the same wheels coming that i commented on in one of your videos (Fuel AMMO 17x9 with a -12 offset) i also run the spidertraxx wheels spacers (1.25 inch) and i use BFG KO2's. I am also a fan of 1st genoffroad that you mentioned in a previous video. I had it in a shop ONCE and the manager was underneath the car for w/e reason (later found out why, the tech ha called him over) he comes over to me and asked me if i had dropped a new motor in it and i said, "no" then he asked me, "how in the hell do you keep everything so clean with that amount of miles on it?" I told him i bought it with 138K and just take care of it.
👍I love my Sequoia. I suggest you drive until it just won’t drive any more. I’ve been buying them since 2005. I’ve had other “fancy” cars...Mercedes, Maserati, Range and I always seem to go for the key to the Sequoia. Never had any problems. Finally, I stopped being ridiculous with multiple cars (I’m only one person & really only need one vehicle) now it’s just the Sequoia for me and I have no regrets at all. 😍 Wishing you both the best. 💝

We just bought our 2011 sequoia last year and it is the absolute best vehicle we could have for my family. Even after a year I really enjoy driving it, it is solid!!!
Great video..proud owner of a 2006 toyota sequoia limited 4wd with air suspension and captain chairs rear entertainment center boight it off the original owner.. back then the sequoia cost him 59k, I won't be selling it, its just a perfect size for parking and driving daily ...the new sequoia looks like a bloated whale. Great video and hello from Long Beach, Ca
I have a 2006 too. I bought it almost 3 years ago it 87K on it. Now I have about 120K on it. It's been good to me. great for hauling trailers. MPG is not good. I tend to not drive as much as I used to because of that. Great in the snow! I'm wondering about getting a smaller car for the non-snowy months that would be better on gas. :)
$700 for timing belt including parts was good. I agree, Sequoia is a great vehicle. I have a 4Runner but also a 2009 Wrangler Rubicon. My Wrangler has 120k miles with a lot of those miles off road. No issues with the Wrangler knock on wood lol
We bought a 2008! 2nd Generation.,steel chain instead of rubber.heavy duty upgrades on 2008, and up! We don't want constant rubber belt changes. It's also expensive
I just got one with 240k. It was beaten on, but is still a great vehicle. All components of the rear hatch are toast. The power lock actuator had broke in the locked position, the cable was seized, and the handle was broken! Really all from a simple lack of lubrication. It will need upstream O2 sensors due to the heating elements failing. But it runs like new and drives great. I got mine cheap and plan to bring its condition up to a higher level. I plan on keeping this one for a long while. FYI, my sunroof worked, but was slow. I opened it and put white lithium grease on the track and it was twice as fast. If your drivers window is slower than the others, lube the track with the same and you will save the motor. In fact, lube them all. Especially lube the hatch window tracks. The handles are a common failure point, and if your window stops working too it will be a huge headache. These things are built like a tank. Enjoy
I used to own a 99 jeep Cherokee and I loved it, it was fun, had a good lift big tires. It was mostly reliable except a couple times left me on the side of the road. Had a lot of electrical issues also. Now I have a family and bought a 01 sequoia and in comparison to the jeep the sequoia just blows it out of the water. That being said I still love jeep Cherokees.

I have an 04 Limited with 270,000 miles on it. I’ve upgraded the brakes to slotted/drilled/zinc plated rotors and upgraded pads, installed stainless lines, new calipers and master cylinder. Replaced the stereo with a touchscreen Apple CarPlay unit with backup camera. Replaced the amplifier and all speakers and added a 12 inch subwoofer. Had a split bumper cover repaired and the bodywork taken care of. Fresh factory dark green paint added. Installed new satin bronze aftermarket wheels and new Michelin tires, and converted all the interior/exterior lights to LED. It runs GREAT and I absolutely love it !!! The only thing it doesn’t do well is pass a gas station 🤣 I drive fairly average but tend towards aggressive with braking and acceleration. I’m religious about maintenance and use Amsoil full synthetic oil. The only unscheduled failure I’ve had through all these years and miles is the battery. They’ll be prying the keys to my “LandCrab” out of my cold dead hands !!!!
I see plenty of these things selling with double that mileage! Don’t roll it down a cliff and they can treat you well. I bought a 05 blazer for the winter and I must’ve got lucky because mine has not a squeak while driving! Your absolutely right about the overall quality though
Got an 08, first year of the 2nd Gen and just crossed 555,555. We use it as the farm truck. Stock hauling. Bale dragging. We get into conversations with the neighbors who are bragging to each other that they're only on their second engine or third transmission and more than 250,000. When I tell them we've never done anything to the engine or tranny other than change the oil, they're mouths hang. So far, the major work we've done was after 450,000 ... Main seal. Rear bearings, radiator, rear window motor and assembly, rear latch, squirell cage fan for blowing heat, a cracked injector, a couple set of spark plugs, bunch of oil changes and brake pads, rotors and winshields but that's it. Everything else works. The sunroof and all power windows, latches, mirrors, seats, entertainment system. It's on the original muffler and though worn, the driver seat leather isn't even torn. They're not fuel efficient but that truck has brought me home through some of the worst storms imaginable-every time. Power, control, luxury ride and reliability like no oher vehicle I know. I creamed a deer one night on the right side, $10,000 damage and the only fluid that leaked was the winshield washer. It drove home straight and another 200 miles back to town to get fixed. Best truck Ever!

Great video and review guys! I have been considering buying an early Sequoia for the same purpose as you bought yours. I too am looking at higher mileage examples due to their affordable entry level price point for what you get in and out of the vehicle. And, one big purchase point for me too is no odd smells from the interior! VERY important I might add!

Thanks for the video 👍. Just bought a 05 sequoia with 240k mi.... definitely a good deal and definitely runs a lot smoother than most newer vehicles to my surprise. 😮

Just got my sequoia 2010 5.7 V8 I’m just loving this truck it’s a perfect match runs like a beast big strong powerful beauty I usually change cars every year but I think I’m done changing this truck completes me.
Rented a Sequoia last year for a long weekend down in Georgia. LOVED the thing! Even with combination city/highway driving and running the air conditioner, I did not find the gas mileage to be too bad (for a vehicle this size). I live in a more densely populated city/state, so not as practical for parking and whatnot here, but I had absolutely zero complaints about the Sequoia.
Subscribed! I just purchased my first high mileage to me truck, 02 Silverado 4.8L with 153k on the clock So far I’ve replaced the intermediate shaft and cleaned the abs sensors. Other than that the engine still sounds super healthy and super comfy ride on the highway. Electronics work fine, I want to do some small trails with it and overlanding But when you live in Chicago you’ll be overlanding at Costco parking lots..............
Toyotas will keep running, but 250,000 mile vehicles still need to have all the maintenance up to date, and the maintenance can add up. The benefit to Toyota is that it is worth the work and money to keep putting money into it to. I think in 1995-2005 was where Toyotas build quality peaked (1G Tundra & 1G Sequoia just seem more solid compared to my 2nd gen Tacoma). Our previous 2005 Sequoia was a great family vehicle for 4 years, the wife liked driving it, bought at 187k miles, I had to keep catching up the maintenance. Hoping to pick up a 2004 Seq in a few days, very excited!
mines got 200k and its in perfect condition. leather seats, power everything, 4x4 great vehicle. I just had all the belts changed, new water pump, thermostat, radiator, hoses, fluids, rear hatch handle, fixed the rear window, power antenna, sunroof works. everything works, even the back window.
Just bought my 02 sequoia and I also have the same experience of the sunroof not operating, it tries to pop it up on the left button but doesn't, and the retract button doesn't do anything. Only problems I have with it are as follows: mold inside due to it sitting for awhile in our lovely oregon environment, front brakes need to be done, driver's side rear door doesn't fully unlock unless you do it manually (might be as simple as a bushing needing tweaked), cracked windshield, and a o2 sensor needs a look at because it comes up o2 sensor heater error on the obd check. Overall it is very strong, get the same fuel mileage as my Jeep liberty that the yota is replacing for my main rig, and is very roomy (very limited room in the Jeep, a buddies dad agrees with the lack of space in the liberties as they have one as well). Getting the brakes sorted out this weekend, putting on studded snow tires as well, getting it detailed on the interior next Tuesday, and over all for what I paid for it I have something that will last another 750k+ miles (has 260k right now).
Thanks for the review! Wife and I are looking at buying a Sequoia to turn into a overlander as well. From you and the others that I've talked to seems like an excellent choice! Keep living life!
I love that they haven't really changed. I have a 2011 and had a rear window and defrost problem. Found a thread from 2003 and held down the rear window button for 10 seconds and problem solved. 2003 to 2011. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Is just absolutely nothing but Amazing outstanding quality. The best of the best. My 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 4.7 Runs like new zero problems at all . Everything works ac heater 4x4 it has 256k miles and every single year pass Salt Lake City Utah emissions. I want to buy a 2000 to 2006 Toyota sequoia because I love the way they look and for passenger space. My 2000 has 4 doors 2 suicidal door fits 6 people but sequoia is more passenger comfortable. So I’m keeping my Toyota tundra plus buying Toyota . sequoia too

Worked at Meineke as a mechanic and a guy brought one in with 250k on it, left it for 2 weeks then when he came back he sold it to me for a $1000. Replaced the entire suspension and steering, put performance brakes on it, valve covers, put a radio in it, timing belt, and bought a roof top tent, and with all of that and insurance + registration I spent a little under $3500 and since then I’ve taken it to New Orleans, Colorado , and all over Texas. Put over 20k on it and it’s my favorite car ever, I love it so much
Also the paint on the roof is a little rusty something I’ve noticed with a lot of Toyota’s and the back latch is broken but that’s the only problems I had
@@chrisewer9570 Nope. There hasn’t been a need for it. They’re expensive and a difficult install so we’ll put it off as long as we can. If we ever do, we’ll likely go for Freedom Off road. They seem to be the only ones that fit in with the “budget overland” theme.

Yeah they're not the most gas efficient vehicle you've ever owned but it balances with reliability. We've got a 2003 with 146,000 miles and is clean throughout. Never smoked in. The one thing you never wait on is the timing belt. Oh, I'm serious, It is an "interference motor," meaning if you break the timing belt or it slips off, it means a new motor. The valves will hit the pistons and that's it. No warning , no second chances, call the wrecker. DESTROYED !!
My brother had a 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4x4. The big two issues he had with it was the engine computer, and it was replaced by the dealer for free under warranty. The second issue was with transmission after 120K miles. It was replaced by AAMCO, but I believed he was ripped off. My brother is terrible at vehicle maintenance, and it likely only needed a complete service. We used his Sequoia for hunting and camping. He traded it in to buy 4Runner.

I have a 2002 camry 262,000 and run really strong start like a new car. Before I have a 1995 Camry with 489,000 miles I sale running start like new. Toyota car is the best car in the market now. Now I have 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD off road. 😁 wow what a great truck.
mine has 245k on it.
I just purchased an 04 limited with 140k miles. Your channel is awesome and had gotten me so excited to get out with the new rig and explore. Love y’all’s content a ton!
just bought a 2004 ,,2 days ago. im totally amazed, and im a GMC CHEVY trucks, SUV fan,big fan.. my first Toyota, and i pretty impressed..
Just bout a 2005 with 285,000 miles. Not worried at all. Aiming for half a million before my first oil change
Color grade on this video is 👌🏽
Typical Toyota Quality. I know.
Heck yeah this is the type of video we needed proud owner of a 2003 Toyota sequoia here awesome car🤘🏼 lol Super funny because my used sequoia came smelling like smoke too LOL
I’m getting one in a few months, can’t wait !! How mush does it cost to usually fill the tank up ?
@@chrisrodas10 lol here in Los Angeles it’s about 60$ every week😂
@@ethan5488 Yeah, the MPG and total range are terrible, very inefficient vehicle.
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 the vehicle is inefficient based on the comments
@@ethan5488 toooo much lol
The only thing it doesn’t do well is pass a gas station 🤣
I drive fairly average but tend towards aggressive with braking and acceleration.
Your wife's review of the sequoia is how my wife review her cars 😂😂
Great video! Same here new cats and 02 sensors and just replaced my radiator and hoses at 212K.
My 2001 Sequoia limited is at 260k and still running like a champ.. I’m grateful for this vehicle
My brother n law is selling me his. It's a 02. For 2000$. Good to hear all the positive reviews
Just drove my 01 sequoia with 150000 miles from Washington to California and back, basically had snow from northern Cali to Washington, it preformed amazing. Probably the best vehicle I have drove in the snow.
My friend has a 2003 loves his so much he’s around 375,000 miles and still cooking👍🏻
"When we bought it...we bought it from a pretty...uh... fairly sketch used car lot that did not inspire a ton of confidence. But we took a gamble."
Loved it lol
I'm glad when a gamble works out from sketchy used car lots that did not inspire a ton of confidence.
Looking for my own sequoia/4runner ATM. So, it's encouraging.
113,000 miles on our 1993 Toyota Pickup [22R-E I-4] - $2,500
305,000 miles on our 1999 Toyota 4Runner [5VZ-FE V6] - $3,500
284,000 miles on our 2006 Toyota Tundra [2UZ-FE V8] - $5,500
Total cost for all three: $11,500 . . . and over a decade of trouble-free driving to fun remote places! :)
2004 Limited Black on gray 189K Runs excellent - all bells and whistles work! Love my Black Beast.
Hey Fraziers. I just found yall. Very entertaining. Thanks for doing what you sending. Sending positive vibes- keep doing what your doing

Just bought an 01 4WD SR5 and looooove it. This is good content guys. Thanks!
I am the original owner of my 2015 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab. My baby just broke 27K on the odo. She may just outlive me. I love those old Sequoias... may have to look for one and have some fun reconditioning it, but I certainly don't want a money pit either. I Subbed!
YOU'LL PAY MORE LONG TERM. BUY 2008" AND UP. BIG UPGRADES. STEEL CHAIN. HEAVIER BRAKES, SHOCKS ETC
My 04 has 195k miles. Everything works. Changed timing belt after 158k miles. Old belt looked great. Love it!!!!!
Im on my second sequoia with 260k and runs like a new car. Its a 2006 4x4. Some lady side swiped my first one 03 4x4 with same 260k and also ran as good. Best SUV out there. Better than some new ones
Really enjoy watching these videos!
07 owner here. The only major problem is the rear door’s latch that will corrode overtime. Aside from that, this sequoia is awesome! I also own a merc, but I rather drive the sequoia - yes, I am a fanboy lol. Awesome video dudes, keep it up.
yes even the 2nd gen unfortunately have this issue also
Eddie Bauer + Toyota Sequoia for the win!
Own 2008 Toyota Sequoia platinum 5.7 just under 300,000 miles… never any issues just change fluids regularly
I have a 2001 toyota tundra 4x4. Very strong! It has 249,690 miles! It is a one of a kind!
That last shot is ✨immaculate✨
Thanks for the video 👍. Just bought a 05 sequoia with 240k mi.... definitely a good deal and definitely runs a lot smoother than most newer vehicles to my surprise. 😮
If you don’t mind me asking how much did you pay for it?
My '02 has 315k miles and has one squeak from the sunroof when it's open. Everything works. Unleaded Anonymous meetings are the only penalty owning this rig. Little things go bad, but they are easy to fix. Mostly just age and maintenance items. Mine was smoke + dog. Took me three days to vacuum it.
We had smoke and dog in ours too. The ozone generator fixed the smells and a lint roller picked up most of the hair.
Just turned 200,000 on my 04 toyota sequoia. Runs like a dream. Change the oil every 5k .
Welcome to Utah! I'm currently in the market for a 1st Gen Sequoia and I appreciate your videos and insights! I'm down in Utah County, we might need a Utah Sequoia overloading group. haha
People complain about mpg but compared to any other full size suv or half ton pickups, it’s not much different.
I agree. I once considered an older Jeep Liberty. Even though they are a much smaller vehicle mileage is actually about the same or lower than a Seq
@@TheFraziers As the saying goes: “You either have to pay for a bunch of gas on a Seqouia or pay for a bunch of major repairs for everything else” 🤣
Most fun and reliable vehicle I've owned.
Subscribed!
I just purchased my first high mileage to me truck, 02 Silverado 4.8L with 153k on the clock
So far I’ve replaced the intermediate shaft and cleaned the abs sensors. Other than that the engine still sounds super healthy and super comfy ride on the highway. Electronics work fine, I want to do some small trails with it and overlanding
But when you live in Chicago you’ll be overlanding at Costco parking lots..............
Aha same bro imagine Los Angeles 🤧
I agree, there’s no other 4x4 suv more reliable than the 1st gen sequoias, period!
You’re good for another 100k easily. Thanks for sharing!
Such a modest build man well done. I would have gone sequoia if bed space wasn’t a necessity.
Great videos man! keep the videos coming. we will hit 1k in no time!
I'm looking for my first adventure vehicle after I graduate! I definitely want a vehicle I can sleep in. This video is awesome! I'll consider this
I just bought an '05 limited 4wd with 150k miles. $11k out the door. Perfect SUV for the upcoming baby and our pop up camper.
05 with 210k miles. Running strong
Just bought a 2005 Sequoia with 200k on it. Best decision I've ever made, I hope it lasts me at least 10+ years.
So I’m keeping my Toyota tundra plus buying Toyota . sequoia too
You guys are so cute.. her comment was gold. I love my Sequia too... i knew she was going to say that. Girls love the compartments/space as well. :D
I’ve got a 2004 limited 2 Wheel Dr. 190,000 miles on it $6000 very well-kept nicest truck I’ve ever owned you can treat it like a truck and not like a soy boy car
I have a 2006 with 175K miles, only issues were hood latch and rear hatch latch needed replacement.
We've done regular maintenance and its been solid since we bought it new. I love the truck its a keeper.
I get people wanting to buy it all the time.
I also live in Planet Utah, purchased my 05 Sequoia a few months ago with 122k. It's in excellent condition but these rigs are so popular the price is rather steep nowadays.
Paid 12k Yikes.
We took in on a 2500 mile road trip and it performed flawless, averaging 14.6 mph, bout the same as my suburban. Looking forward to doing some over landing.
Cheers
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Mine is a 2001 with 218,000, the only think that has broken is my left front oxygen sensor! Love this thing.
Easy fix. Sounds like a great truck. Thanks for watching!
I’ve got a 01 sitting at 300k and it’s been rolled, I still drive this thing every day, these things don’t die
I had a radiator, brake booster, and rack/pinion issues around 125k miles, and haven't had anything else go bad since then. Super reliable vehicles.
Just as reliable as my 2013 Toyota Sienna AWD with 325,000 miles on the accumulating odometer.
Impressive!

Steam clean that engine!!!! j/k I have a 2002 with 165k and it is a great vehicle took it on a 2.5k road trip this summer! Thanks for posting this it really helps my confirmation bias.
Huge selling point of Sequoia - smells normal... lol... have a nice day deeps and enjoy your ride
Wow this really makes me want to get a Sequoia! I've been considering swapping out my 4Runner for something a little less overpriced.
Yup, the sequoia is basically just a slightly bigger 4Runner and yet it gets almost completely overlooked
Love my 07 Sequoia! Just hit 155K and runs stronger than ever. Just started modifying it with performance upgrades and small lift kit. Can't wait for 100K more miles.
Sounds like a great deal! Thanks for watching!

@@TheFraziers also I read in the comments u put a 2in lift on it, did you have to put aftermarket control arms on it to?
@@chrisewer9570 Nope. There hasn’t been a need for it. They’re expensive and a difficult install so we’ll put it off as long as we can. If we ever do, we’ll likely go for Freedom Off road. They seem to be the only ones that fit in with the “budget overland” theme.
Dope! Thanks for the info really interested in how this series
Our 05 has almost 300k no major issues
My 2004 also came with the broke sunroof. Hopefully you will produce a how-to-fix video. Subscribed.
My radiator went bad as well. Not sure how long I was driving it while it went bad. Temp gauge really didn’t budge. Glad I caught it before it was too late
My 2001 Sequoia has 186,000 miles. Replaced the transmission at 100,000 miles along with a radiator. It runs well, like a new vehicle. My only complaint is the gas mileage. I can barely do 14 miles in the city. Tried new spark plugs, filters, fuel injection cleaners to no avail. Still, we love it and it has sentimental value to us cause my young adult kids were babies when we first got it.
Surprised to hear about the trans getting replaced so early but glad it has served you well. Mpg isn’t great but honestly it’s no worse than other full size trucks and suvs (f-150, suburban, etc.)
I have a 2000 Land Cruiser. My brother purchased it new. He sold it to my other brother which had it about 3 years. I purchased it from him. It has 370,000 miles and runs as good as it did day one.
That's awesome. Truth be told, I've always wanted a land cruiser. The 100 series is great but unfortunately too expensive for me.
@@TheFraziers I’ve only had it 6 months. The first thing I did after 2 weeks was backed into a tree at my brothers house. So it’s still in the body shop since then. LOL I can’t wait to get it back.
I missed my 02 Limited. Got 300K miles out of her until it got stolen. All I did was brakes, tires and fluid services. Original timing belt and water pump.
I know so many Tundras and Sequoias with 450k miles running happy and tight as brand new.
Have 375,000 miles on my 2003 Limited…..going great.
