I was just about to start today and I'd have gone in with a totally different tactic! Your advice has saved me from making a complete arse of the entire job. I'm going to scribe my internal corners instead of angled cuts. It has all become clear now!! Cheers mate.
In all fairness you CAN angle cut your internal corners too, it will just not allow for much wall imperfections. If your walls are bang on 90 degrees I never had issues angling internal corners. With not so ideal walls, scribing the corner gives a bit of manoeuvre to join them more neatly. With angled cut you’d have to fill the gap with caulk and paint it to hide imperfections.

I soon figured this out when I was an apprentice carpenter as we did a load of renovations on very old homes. We didn't have a drop saw and was amazed when I got to use one finally as I would use a panel saw and mitre box and bevel just like you showed. Great video brings back memories.

+Spend Time, Save Money, DIY : why didn't you show and illustrate the cutting of the inner corner line. Can it also be cut using the circle saw or you need a hand saw to cut it ? I suggest and request you show that in your next video illustration. Otherwise thanks for your skills, time and sharing.
yep this bloke knows what he's doing - although it helps to have a fancy chop saw and a sliding bevel -- . Four corner rooms are easy but if you've got to go round an old chimney breast and do external mitres Id get a decent chippy to do it rather than pissing around for days on end bisecting angles, filing off 45 degree mitres than don't fit, cutting mitres the wrong way and generally getting REALLLY ANGRY.

Great video, another tip you can get a digital angle reader divide it by 2 and lock the angle off. Transfer to the saw and you have a perfect angle cut every time. Does save time
I am second to the commenter. I am dead serious when I say that I have been struggling for a week now with a tiny room, trying to set the trim boards by mitre box, manual adjustable mitre saw, angle finder and first try coping with a Dremel sander etc but its FAILURE! Everything looks horrible and I just wasted a week of my life. No result.

Great video and technique for bisecting the outside corner and I will definitely give it a try when the opportunity arises. Another method that I have successfully used is to trace the angle from your sliding bevel onto a piece of stiff paper ( like a manilla folder ) next cut the angle out of the paper, then fold the angle portion of the paper in half. That's the angle you need.

I soon figured this out when I was an apprentice carpenter as we did a load of renovations on very old homes. We didn't have a drop saw and was amazed when I got to use one finally as I would use a panel saw and mitre box and bevel just like you showed. Great video brings back memories.
Rockers2Rockers old school methods and modern power tools make a great combination I think. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼

Hi. Have a big job fitting skirting in my daughter's Reno soon. I have your vids on speed click to help me accomplish this. Oh and thanks for all your vids, they're very well presented. Cheers
Glad you're finding my videos useful.
Let me know how you get on with your daughters reno 👍🏼
So this was fitting a miter without numbers. Wouldn’t it be much easier to use a Angle finder?
Good video! I have found it more accurate to mark the outside corner on the floor because we are cutting from the face of the board rather than the back. I like your method for bisecting the angle, and have done it that way for years.
Grant Snell thanks. You can mark the angles out on the floor but it isn't always possible. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Bloody brilliant video

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Daryl Ponting Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 👍🏼
+Spend Time, Save Money, DIY : why didn't you show and illustrate the cutting of the inner corner line.
Can it also be cut using the circle saw or you need a hand saw to cut it ?
I suggest and request you show that in your next video illustration.
Otherwise thanks for your skills, time and sharing.
Wow, this is probably one of the best videos. Your work is amazing but I wouldn’t be able to do it so perfectly. You rock.
Dan C If you take your time and do what I do then there is no reason you couldn't achieve results like me! Thanks for the great comment 👍🏼
yep this bloke knows what he's doing - although it helps to have a fancy chop saw and a sliding bevel -- .
Bill Smith thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 👍🏼

Bang on the money... best video I have seen on angles for skirting, would love to learn how you do bay windows and other awkward angles, keep the videos coming....
Callum murphy Thanks for your comment. I will try to do a video soon for bay windows. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Don´t be fooled it looks so easy but damn its hard to do!
Watched your video very helpful technique. Had all the tools apart from the glue/activator and scribe so decided to purchase them. Made a few mistakes along the way but can now say I would have struggled without watching your video. I've done 4 large rooms with lots of corners and uneven walls. Struggled with uneven floors!
There's always another hurdle to get over. You learn how to do something and straight away there's another issue to get over with the uneven floor.

An old carpenter once gave me these words of wisdom on this subject.
"If your mitres do not fit,
Fill them up with putty and shit."
A carpenter also said to me "if you don't have wood ask for my wood"
I heard a carpenter once say they were on top of the world
Your videos are brilliant, i love the simplicity of your explanations. So brilliant - life changer! Do more please...

ddouble dutch Thanks for your kind comment. I'm glad my videos will be of use to you. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Great guide mate. Just measured up my first angle and found my McAlister mitre saw will only bevel cut to 45 degrees max I need closer to 50. FFS
From another chippy. Far too long winded. Buy a digital angle finder to use in conjunction with your chop saw. Easy.
katastrophenschutzwa you miss the point my friend! This video is aimed at diyers who are trying to save money by doing the job themselves.
There is always a different way and numerous people have said to buy an angle finder but this is the way I was taught and it's never let me down!
Thanks for watching anyway 👍🏼
I appreciate your time spent showing others. I guess it’s too easy to think your own way is always the best. 😳sorry. 👍
katastrophenschutzwa It's always easy to criticise! Thanks for your reply 👍🏼
As a DIYer, this video is PERFECT. explains everything so precisely. Thank YOU
Outstanding video. I'm been afraid to even try to do this throughout our house, which was flood by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. I think that I can do it. Thank you.
DavidE Moore I'd bet you can do it, but you will never know unless you have a go! Sorry to hear about the flood. Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them. Good luck and thanks for watching 👍🏼
@@spendtimesavemoneydiy Thank you kindly for your words of encouragement. I'm going to give it a good go.
Great video, another tip you can get a digital angle reader divide it by 2 and lock the angle off. Transfer to the saw and you have a perfect angle cut every time. Does save time
I wish I could do that. You make it look so easy. LOL Thanks for sharing your amazing craft.
I'm sure you could get great results with a bit of practice. Let me know how you get on if you give it a go.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
I am second to the commenter. I am dead serious when I say that I have been struggling for a week now with a tiny room, trying to set the trim boards by mitre box, manual adjustable mitre saw, angle finder and first try coping with a Dremel sander etc but its FAILURE! Everything looks horrible and I just wasted a week of my life. No result.
Good video and instruction, clear, concise and to the point. Thank you
David Ramsay glad you liked it 👍🏼
Spectacular video. I love how you illustrate and explain the cuts. You have a new sub. Thanks

Amazing!!! Thank you! I was dreading the horror of the job... this video is game changing
Joseph Fili Thanks for your comment, that's another great way. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
