After this next surgery, here in about a week, I will be on some form of treatment that will be more harsh on the body. So, does chemotherapy have the same side effect on facial hair, as it does on the hair on head?

Mr420weirdo there’s definitely hope, I have patches just like him...not necessarily bald but just less hair that grows slower. I’m rocking a beard 3 inches below my collar bone and it looks full all around, always getting comments and compliments.

My beard at current is at 6 months growth from clean shaven back June 30th. My job as an ER nurse sometimes changes how long I can let it grow. But, thankfully I'm a to grow a very nice beard. With every video I watch, I find out how much more I didn’t know about beards.
I started to grow a mustache at the latter part of my fourteenth year. It wasn’t hard or coarse and didn’t really lengthen out till I got into my fifteenth year. Now of course the stache I got just keeps on growing out and is coarse hair and thick. It took a longer time till the rest of my facial hair started to grow out. But it was all uneven in my twenties and not until I was thirty five was I able to finally grow a decent and all red for the most part, beard. I’m 56 now, and my beard is almost all grayish-white.
Thank you Greg for doing this. You are an inspiration! I have almost the same patchy spots in my beard as you. They kept me from growing it out for a long time, but seeing you do this and seeing the beard you had I know there is hope and I am now starting my beard journey. I am almost 2 months in.
I'm 37 and watching your videos made me decide to grow a beard I've never let mine grow more than a month, only my sides are little patchy but seems to be filling in it's been a month and half so far.
Every time I think about shaving my beard off I watch one of your videos for motivation. I've never let it grow this long. I started with a guy goatee for 3 weeks, then started a chin strap beard. Then 3 weeks later I stopped shaving completely except below my Adam's apple. So it's many different lengths. It's a mess, my wife likes it. I've never had a professional beard from and I'm 51. It's about 3 months old. If anybody knows of a good beard trimmer in the San Francisco Francisco area I'd appreciate it. Big fan of you Greg.
I just turned 52 and I noticed new face hair growing out in places on my face that were patches now filling in. Does anyone else notice they grow more hair on the face as they get older?

I've had my beard for over 3 years. Maintained about a 5 inch beard and somewhat long mustache with routine trimming. Here are the cons most don't speak of: 1. Loose mustache hairs falling into food. 2. Kissing or sucking on your signifcant other will be frustrating, as hair will be all over your mouth.(This is my #1 con). 3. Some days you'll love it, others not so much. 4. Takes patience to grow, style, and maintain or it'll look like shhh. 5. Zippers. Lol Is it worth it? YES!! I for one like to see how God intended that I look. Good luck everyone. And stick with it if you have a patchy beard. You'll be surprised hairs that sprout up. Just let it grow, no trimming. Be careful with that cheek line. Easy to ruin your beard. THIS BEARDED MAN HAS SPOKEN!! (In an echo Thor-esque voice). Lol. When you have a beard, you can do that. 💪👍
My beard growth starts to slow down around the 5 inch mark. Which will take it roughly 10 months to grow, with a little trimming maybe every couple of weeks. At around 3 inches the left side also tends to curl outwards and the hair is much thinner compared to the right. So I trim the right more often to let the left side sort of catch up. I'm 38 btw.
Facial hair isnt like head hair, trimming doesnt promote growth. A wise man once said. " You will never trim your way to a long beard" it's very true. Let it grow in length of course maintain the sides, but leave the length alone . If you didnt trim you would have had 6+ inches at 10 months, just let it be and you will see.
@@carterhall2653 I've grown a yeard twice in my lifetime. First time was about 8 years ago. Waaaay before the whole beard boom kicked in. The second time was around 3 years ago. So I've had my fair share of trial and error since way back then and would say that I'm quite familiar with the process. Trimming every few weeks is a must for me. I'm in a manager position and have to look presentable. All im really saying is, that my terminal length starts pretty early, compared to many of the über beards and yeards+ we are shown on social media etc.... It's just different for everyone and no one should hold their expectations up to anyone else' standards.
I am 34 years old, my beard grows that long in 50-60 days on the sides (including the sides if the chin where it's strongest), moustache and neck, but in 90-100 under the leap and the centre of the chin.
You should look into TRT and beards. I've noticed after being on TRT that my beard is definitely alot thicker than it used to be. Moustache is now comparable to steel wool.
After 5 weeks my beard is typically a quarter inch long. Having grown my beard out for 10 months now, I still haven't noticed anything going terminal. Even my soulpatch is still growing, despite it being slower than the rest of it.
A beard normally develops towards the end of puberty. The most common ages at which it manifests, varies between 13 and 16 years, usually starts with the whiskers, lower lip and a few strands on the chin, it is normal to have only that until the age of 16.
I dont know if im doing the right thing, but the way I deal with the different speeds my beard grows is triming more the parts that grows faster, so the areas that grows slower are able to reach... At the end I notice that my beard looks fuller and like a big one piece

I think my whole beard is terminal. I may just not have it in my genetics to grow a big full beard lol. I've been growing for 6 months, using shampoo, beard oil, brushing, etc. and seems like I've reached the pinnacle of my beard growth. Love the videos Greg, keep it up!

im on day 41 of my yeard, my moustache is growing all uneven half is longer than the other side. my soul patch grows fast, normally I trim that the most, but slight below that the hair doesn't grow past like eyebrow length. for some reason this time growing my beard it's growing more towards under my ears! thanks for the great content as always!

when i first got a decent beard growth at 29 i noticed that in my 30's my beard got a boost ( meaning it grew double the thickness like another full layer was applied) i still have baby hair on the moustache ( under the longer hairs) i guess they will kick in sooner or later as well.
Wow that makes a lot of sense about the French fork but I’m quite the opposite which took me so long to understand this concept. the strongest growth is always down the center of my lip and chin while lacking behind to a strong degree on the sides of my face, but I do have an extreme issue with my beard going terminal, my beard is constantly shedding and saddens me that I can’t grow a beard beyond 3 inches even with a full year of growth
Yeah, I started growing my goatee out 15 years ago and it stopped growing about 6 inches below my chin years ago. My beard is very thin. The genetics I was pre-determined with.

I used to have a 6” long beard. I felt like it stopped growing so I cut it off. Big mistake! I felt so sad afterwards lol. I just started on Valentine’s Day 2019 on my Yeard journey. Gonna make this happen again and I’m not cutting it this time. Love your beard btw.

My question is: if your beard quits growing or hits terminal and you shave it off then why does it grow back, if it quit growing then you wouldn't be able to grow another beard, makes no sense to me.
You definitely know what you are talking about and that makes your content even more interesting to watch 😊 I must have had a full 7 year growth period for my beard because I have had my beard down to my stomach (well might as well say ZZTOP beard lol) but I shaved it and now I have been growing it out for about 8 months and it isn't growing as fast as it once did, now of course I am much older now and it has been about 20 years since I had it that long so maybe age has something to do with it but yea, I don't think it will get that long now, but we will see 😊 everyone that has followed me here on TH-cam has known me with a beard so I won't cut it again so now more than ever, I am anxious to see how it will end up. My mustache would be much longer than it is if I haven't been cutting it loke I do though and seeing your beard makes me wonder about all I could do with my mustache lol. I am definitely going to send my son to this series. I think he has given up on growing a beard, and I think he would look good with one. However, we do have a genetic factor and that may be an issue. But there’s always hope!
I don't have that issue my moustache grows like crazy but I've never grown it out, but I am now I think I could grow the moustache at least half way down my lip.
My hubby to be had been growing his with yours and his is the opposite his mustache and goatee/soul patch area are dense and on his sides it’s more sparse. I’m just so happy it’s growing back!
I'm about 14 weeks in and my beard is still growing normally. Last time it took me about 8 months until I saw a slowdown. I have yet to trim my beard at all, but I'm planning on having it sculpted in a little over 2 weeks since 4 months for me seems about the right time to do so.
My beard grows so fast.. I can clean shave and in 3 weeks I have a full beard.. My little brother sports a duck Dynasty beard all the time.. He shaved it off one in a few months zz top.. At 53 I have a full head off hair , half grey, my chest is magnum pi. For those old enough to remember.. Beards are cool but sometimes I wish I was one of the guys who couldn't grow a Grizzly Adams beard..
I grew my beard for three years and one month before shaving, it reached about one inch above my bellybutton when damp; should've been longer but I trimmed a lot of split ends in the process. Soul patch was about four inches. I trimmed the mustache several times to keep certain length so I don't know how long it could grow. The areas I did noticed to grow much slower and alright stop when the rest of the beard kept growing were the cheeks.
2.5 months in and my only issue is my beard is so thick and curly I get knots in it. I'd give it a solid 9.5. I don't have any patches on the beard just solid growth. I seem to not grow hair just under my nasal septum. I'll take that.
My head hair is halfway down my back now and still growing, I’ve not had it cut for over 3 and a half years. The only part of my beard which only grows to a certain length is the ‘soul patch’ area. It stops at around 3cm. The rest of my beard just seems going

5 weeks in and my patches have started to close up, but my moustache still has a lot of catching up to do, I am hoping it is because it is light in colour and not because it has gone terminal already.
My beard pretty much stopped after the first year unfortunately. The longest it’s gotten was about 7” and it is quite curly so it doesn’t seem long at all. Actually it stops just about an inch above my collarbone.

A guy who once couldn't grow a beard has become an expert beard scientist and can grow a fantastic beard! I love it.

Awesome info Greg. Best advice I can give is don't try for a beard you can't go. Examine your beard growth pattern and look for styles that fit yours.

A beard normally develops towards the end of puberty. The most common ages at which it manifests, varies between 13 and 16 years, usually starts with the whiskers, lower lip and a few strands on the chin, it is normal to have only that until the age of 16.
I dont know if im doing the right thing, but the way I deal with the different speeds my beard grows is triming more the parts that grows faster, so the areas that grows slower are able to reach... At the end I notice that my beard looks fuller and like a big one piece

Just as you described. My beard at the center of my face is coming in slower. I actually noticed it after week 3. My original thought was it was due to rarely shaving those areas of my face. Thanks for the update.
I think my whole beard is terminal. I may just not have it in my genetics to grow a big full beard lol. I've been growing for 6 months, using shampoo, beard oil, brushing, etc. and seems like I've reached the pinnacle of my beard growth. Love the videos Greg, keep it up!

im on day 41 of my yeard, my moustache is growing all uneven half is longer than the other side. my soul patch grows fast, normally I trim that the most, but slight below that the hair doesn't grow past like eyebrow length. for some reason this time growing my beard it's growing more towards under my ears! thanks for the great content as always!

Day 36 here. Slow growth on the cheeks as expected but just starting to get long enough to cover some skin so appears thicker than it is. Thanks for the updates.

when i first got a decent beard growth at 29 i noticed that in my 30's my beard got a boost ( meaning it grew double the thickness like another full layer was applied) i still have baby hair on the moustache ( under the longer hairs) i guess they will kick in sooner or later as well.
Wow that makes a lot of sense about the French fork but I’m quite the opposite which took me so long to understand this concept. the strongest growth is always down the center of my lip and chin while lacking behind to a strong degree on the sides of my face, but I do have an extreme issue with my beard going terminal, my beard is constantly shedding and saddens me that I can’t grow a beard beyond 3 inches even with a full year of growth
I never noticed until you pointed out that the spot under my lower lip only grows to about an inch long.

Yeah, I started growing my goatee out 15 years ago and it stopped growing about 6 inches below my chin years ago. My beard is very thin. The genetics I was pre-determined with.

I used to have a 6” long beard. I felt like it stopped growing so I cut it off. Big mistake! I felt so sad afterwards lol. I just started on Valentine’s Day 2019 on my Yeard journey. Gonna make this happen again and I’m not cutting it this time. Love your beard btw.

I honestly think you should let your hair grow long, I think it'd suit you well.
My question is: if your beard quits growing or hits terminal and you shave it off then why does it grow back, if it quit growing then you wouldn't be able to grow another beard, makes no sense to me.

You definitely know what you are talking about and that makes your content even more interesting to watch 😊 I must have had a full 7 year growth period for my beard because I have had my beard down to my stomach (well might as well say ZZTOP beard lol) but I shaved it and now I have been growing it out for about 8 months and it isn't growing as fast as it once did, now of course I am much older now and it has been about 20 years since I had it that long so maybe age has something to do with it but yea, I don't think it will get that long now, but we will see 😊 everyone that has followed me here on TH-cam has known me with a beard so I won't cut it again so now more than ever, I am anxious to see how it will end up. My mustache would be much longer than it is if I haven't been cutting it loke I do though and seeing your beard makes me wonder about all I could do with my mustache lol. I am definitely going to send my son to this series. I think he has given up on growing a beard, and I think he would look good with one. However, we do have a genetic factor and that may be an issue. But there’s always hope!
I don't have that issue my moustache grows like crazy but I've never grown it out, but I am now I think I could grow the moustache at least half way down my lip.
My hubby to be had been growing his with yours and his is the opposite his mustache and goatee/soul patch area are dense and on his sides it’s more sparse. I’m just so happy it’s growing back!

Didn’t know about this. I’ve got pretty long hair, and I’ve noticed a “good” and “bad” side, as well as slower/faster growing parts.
I'm about 14 weeks in and my beard is still growing normally. Last time it took me about 8 months until I saw a slowdown.
I have yet to trim my beard at all, but I'm planning on having it sculpted in a little over 2 weeks since 4 months for me seems about the right time to do so.
Some Ainu people in old photos can grow moustache hair so long it's hard to tell where the moustache ends and the hair below the lip begins.

My little brother sports a duck Dynasty beard all the time.. He shaved it off one in a few months zz top..
At 53 I have a full head off hair , half grey, my chest is magnum pi. For those old enough to remember..
Beards are cool but sometimes I wish I was one of the guys who couldn't grow a Grizzly Adams beard..
I grew my beard for three years and one month before shaving, it reached about one inch above my bellybutton when damp; should've been longer but I trimmed a lot of split ends in the process. Soul patch was about four inches. I trimmed the mustache several times to keep certain length so I don't know how long it could grow. The areas I did noticed to grow much slower and alright stop when the rest of the beard kept growing were the cheeks.
2.5 months in and my only issue is my beard is so thick and curly I get knots in it. I'd give it a solid 9.5. I don't have any patches on the beard just solid growth. I seem to not grow hair just under my nasal septum. I'll take that.

My head hair is halfway down my back now and still growing, I’ve not had it cut for over 3 and a half years. The only part of my beard which only grows to a certain length is the ‘soul patch’ area. It stops at around 3cm. The rest of my beard just seems going

I keep my mustache short because I absolutely hate a long mustache on myself. I don't like how it gets into my mouth, kissing etc. I keep it cut short
I have to trim my stash, i absolutely HATE when i try to take a bite of food and i have to fight hair out of my mouth. Its miserable.
I’m fortunate as my facial hair grows quickly and full. I am at 5 weeks and mine is pretty thick. The longest I’ve grown my beard in the past is just under a year and I was at 6 inches. I’m going at least a year this time and possibly longer.
Trimmed my mustache two times and it's still growing
5 weeks in and my patches have started to close up, but my moustache still has a lot of catching up to do, I am hoping it is because it is light in colour and not because it has gone terminal already.

My beard pretty much stopped after the first year unfortunately. The longest it’s gotten was about 7” and it is quite curly so it doesn’t seem long at all. Actually it stops just about an inch above my collarbone.
Im 31, my gotee (typical upper lip, chin & the rest of the mouth area) all grow fast, all grow thick & seem to keep growing. My chops/burns/cheeks dont seem to grow at all.
Green Hawk same man. I started minoxidil last year and have seen a huge improvement in fullness but it still grows to the same length then stops.
