I'd personally want Carlos Costa's. That is one of the densest beards I've ever seen, and you can rock it in a huge amount of styles with that density.

Jack, I love this video and hope you'll keep making more like it. I keep getting more confidence as I see others deal with issues they have with their beards and also how each beard is unique. You guys have helped me so much with your philosophy of 'rock what you got'. I loved your yeard series and I really like listening to your podcast. I started a yeard and unfortunately gave in and got a trim after only 8 months, but it would've been a yeard in about 2 weeks. Although I probably would be one of those people that they say 'can't grow a beard', I'm going to keep going. Because of you, I'm going to keep my beard and rock what I've got!!! ;-)
It can take many months for certain hairs to start growing. If you just shaved 2 months ago, some of those "patches" may just be hairs that havent sprouted yet. Give it more time and see
He definitely looks like a more mature 24 and can easily pass for early 30s. I started my beard journey a year ago. I'm 38, but without my beard i would look like I'm in my late 20s. Ever since I grew my beard, I've realized that people really see me as a source of knowledge and value my opinion. I have about 3 gray hairs tha make me look a little mature as well. I would never go back to a baby face.
Jack, definitely consider embracing those side patches. They add definition and emphasis to the goatee+tache part of your beard (guys with goatee + scruff shave dips in there on purpose to give definition and shaping). If you hadn't announced those dips as patches, I would have assumed you shaved them in on purpose as a style choice. Most people seeing them that haven't seen a video of you talking about them as patches would likely consider them as deliberate too. If they were notably asymmetrical then there'd be more of a basis for seeing them as a challenge to 'do something about' - since they are nicely symmetrical and look stylish, I'd be inclined to regard them as 'free styling' from your own genes (you get them without maintaining them, which people shaving details like that into their beards have to constantly work to keep on top of). Genes that pitch in to make you look distinguished are great things to have. The same goes for Greg's patches too - I remember writing a comment to point out how I consider his growth patterns quite lucky! Greg's patches are also nicely aligned and serve to really bring out a distinguised shape that others achieve by shaving details like that into their beards. A lot of what people do with their beards is the beard equivalent of folks with straight head hair getting tight perms and others with afros using hair straighteners, which isn't to say that people should just let nature do its things and abandon any notion of personal styling choices, but rather to say that it is fine (and mostly far easier!) to work with what you have, and most importantly, try to avoid feeling pressure from outside of ourselves to conform to a specific look. We'd all get bored (and confused) if we all looked the same and ultimately, those external pressures to look this way or that way are full of conflicting directions; you can't please everyone, but you CAN please yourself. The bottom line is go for what you like and what you feel works best for you, as that is what you'll feel most confident and comfortable with, and everyone looks and feels better when they are more comfortable and confident in themselves. I'd encourage any chaps watching and feeling any concerns about patches to have a second, less self-critical, look and see if they really do detract from their look, or instead might actually be a super awesome unique signature that they can work with rather than fight against.
It's wild how much we are our own worst judges. This is a prime example where to me, the patches look enormous, but to others, they don't look bad at all. - Jack
@John Sampson I'm at a similar point in time as this guy, thought at first we were pretty similar and then he showed his goat neck and now I feel like shaving this thin crap. A wispy beard is the worst
You guys should try a video where you get someone to Photoshop the parts of your beard that you aren't fond of so we can all see what each of your ideas on the perfect beard would be. That and maybe you might realize you dont actually dislike the little imperfections at all.
The beard is looking good bro. I think the patches you have look fine. I see alot of guys that shave those spots and honestly I think it looks good, with a shorter beard anyway. Keep it up!
Only time I've grown a beard is when I was unemployed and at rock bottom with my depression. However, the people that have seen the photos of my beard phase were complimentary, so maybe someday it will come back. It's nice to know that at least the option is there.
Yo can you guys do a video where you talk about if your dads/other men in your family could grow beards like you or if they had different growth patterns/couldnt grow a beard? I think that would be interesting
Mine is very different from my dads. He has very straight, thick beard hair. Mine is wiry, curly, and I have patches similar to Greg, but my beard doesn't grow as high as Greg's or my Dad's. I also have slight patches in my side burns which is a pain. As i buzz my head (about a 1/2 to a 1 on top) due to hair loss, I think I'm going to try a skin fade that starts about where my beard does, so I can avoid the patches in my burns.
Personally the best "type" beard is that of Jeff and Carlos, where the hair goes right up underneath the bottom lip without the usual patches. It gives a neater/fuller look. Something I struggle with as I have the soul patch that I kind of try to spider out in all directions to cover. Jeff and Carlos also seem to have much more hair follicles than most. But hey, we rock what we've got man.
Got lucky with my beard man, the shape is becoming exactly as I wanted it to be, I'll reach the mega stache in a few months and i'll be sooo freaking happy !
@@wanna-be-cowboy Just luck. When I decided to let it all grow I went for a yeard, so all at the same time. Which was a good idea cuz parts of my cheek grew slower than others, now it's balanced.
What I noticed is that the beard looks best when it’s length is proportionate to the moustache. So with shorter moustache due to genetics a shorter beard looks much more attractive IMO. Imagine Greg with his large beard and a very thin moustache, it would just look weird. So I strongly believe a shorter beard would be a much more attractive look for you.
Great video Jack. I love watching the grow videos from week to week and to see how you guys compare to each other is awesome. I'm currently right 8 weeks of growth. So I'm right there with you guys and it's really good for me just to see how my beard stacks up against others.

Thanks for making these videos I’m growing mine out now, all of these details are a great help. Not that I didn’t know but hearing everyone is different really helps with the knowing if I get a patch I can make it work for me. Thanks bud!!!!!
I like your beard.... you're a lucky guy...you're only 24 and you have facial hair even on your cheek bones! what i like the most about your beard is how dense it is on the sides...I think many guys sport a goatee because of how difficult is for them to grow facial hair on the sides.
My beard goes so far down my neck that I have to either "create a line" to decide where beard stops and chest hair begins, or shave the top of my chest hair so there's a distinct separation.
I’ve got very similar beard growth to Greg’s. I have a fuller moustache, At four months I have a nice full beard now but I also have the lip split. I always wanted it because I thought it looked like a pirate .
What made me decide to just grow my beard out was watching Greg grow his. Him and I have very similar patches on our cheeks. Which leads to a very uncomfortable first couple of months.

You should have your moustache and cheek lines like you had in Week 29 of your Yeard series. Do that along with the length of your beard now and it would look it’s best I believe
You'd make a great lumberjack mascot for a university football team and I say that as a compliment Jack. Greg would fit best at being the mascot as a seasoned old gray bearded ship captain..or a Greek god.
Jacks beard is denser but Greg’s beard is a lot more aesthetic due to his fuller moustache and chin growth, plus he has much straighter hair that’s easier to work with and style.
These update and comparison videos are great for me. First time growing a full beard (40) and I'm a few weeks behind you guys when you shot this. So far so good and these videos give me confidence. One question man, and I can't find an answer anywhere - how should you comb your beard 2 month it? Down? What do you do with neck? Down again?
Im 33 and almost 3.5 months into my first beard. Jacks is already passing mine lol He’s got great hair genetics lol If you look at any of my vids (my last one I loaded was yesterday or the day before) And I deff look like jacks did when his was around Month one lol
My beard I have good cheeks good under neck only place I lack is under lip and chin kind of, but I’m dark haired and every hair on my body is dark then my beard is completely orange in the sunlight and the hairs aren’t very thick it’s weird it’s like being blessed with good genetics then having it being unable to see
I’ve heard that the longer it takes for your beard to grow in, the weaker it’ll be. Greg’s beard didn’t grow until his 50s so it got me wondering if that is true?
Does anyone else have problems with cowlicks in their beard? The left side of my face always looks like it has less volume because my hair is so tangled next to my skin. For example, I can't really reach the skin of my chin, if that makes sense. It's just overlapping layers of hair. I use combs and my fingers to pull out the tangles every day but most of the time, it feels like my hair is growing faster than I can fix the tangles. I'm not sure if it's something that I can actually fix or if I just need to go for a clean shave and restart and try to be more meticulous with the way my hair lays as it grows out. Fwiw, the longest hairs on my chin and mustache are maybe 7.5-8 inches long, which compounds the whole getting knots and tangles out. It's something that I'm sure everyone else notices a lot less than I do but it's also a big issue for me in terms of my self-confidence.
Currently 18, and have very little beard growth, by far the thickest spot is my neck, which grows down past my adams apple. My chin and neck are just about the only visible part
after 2 month's I decided to see a local barbershop around the corner, for a fresh haircut and some little beard trim, the only problem is he trimmed it too short, the beard line that supposed to be 2 fingers above your Adam's apple is now around 3 fingers, what do you guys advise, shave everything off and start again?
I’m 16 and have a moustache as well as a few hairs on my chin and cheeks. All my relatives can grow a beard but I feel like I should have more facial hair by now. Anyone know if this is normal?
Rock those patches. Your patches look good dude. The irony is that your patches emphasise your mustache and make it look better. Want a better looking mustache with your beard? Leave those patches to the sides :)
My strong point are my neck be beard hair if I don't take care of it actually connect to my chest hair my cheeks grow just to the bottom of my eyes so I have to take care of that and my Chen just grows thicker faster then the rest of my beard but I do have a major patch on my jaw just below my Chen and patches on my cheeks
I have a question how do I Handel my beard because I'm 19 it's a little pacthy and everything comes in pretty good I think it's just that my mustache and my cheek area is really light blond so its hard to see unless ur up close but close to the sideburns and jawline and neck are red so what do u suggest I do to make my cheeks and mustache look darker and fuller with natural products and what products do u suggest
Love the video. Comparisons of yalls beards were cool and hope to see more videos like this. I have a patchy beard so I like watching Greg’s videos, and yours as well sense you inspired me to grow out my beards. So keep on bearding.
I too have the same “patches” as you but I never once considered them patches. They’re symmetrical. I like my growth pattern and nobody else would consider them patches either. No need to be self-conscious.
Well jack for cheeks you have a lot of hair and when they grow it looks a little bit gross... for that you should tweeze your hair after 3 or 4 days when they grow back.. i also had so much hair on my cheek bone so I started tweezing and Alhamdulilah the hair are removed . You should also try this and i am sure after 4 to 5 months the hairs will start removing off slowly as the hair cells growth stops as you do tweezing after 3 days .
Nice vid. Jack, when I was your age I also had a gap in the middle of the lip...maybe less....hair did not grow that well....now 20yrs later it's full (if I didn't cut it....probably even more than Gregg) buy I HAVE to trim it some every week. Cheeks-- you do look a lot better when you bring the line down.... Now lower neck, i did for ever cut my line as you seem to be doing now....it's a pain in the @$$. So now have been growing it but it gets too long and looks bad...at which point I trim it--BUT then I get this itch and even redness from the shorter hairs.... this is something I do not know how to manage best yet..... Cheers. I may have to go visit Cisco one of these days

And I deff look like jacks did when his was around Month one lol
I like your beard the length you have it now, Jack. My thin beard is jealous.
Your beard is love man❤
would like to know what is the best oil for beard or chin hair, away from commercial marketing, lying and cheating
My beard I have good cheeks good under neck only place I lack is under lip and chin kind of, but I’m dark haired and every hair on my body is dark then my beard is completely orange in the sunlight and the hairs aren’t very thick it’s weird it’s like being blessed with good genetics then having it being unable to see
why not just shave down those cheek angles to get rid of those "dips"
I’m still convinced your Ashton Kutcher.
Or the TH-camr SimplyUnlucky
Both beards look great guys
Currently 18, and have very little beard growth, by far the thickest spot is my neck, which grows down past my adams apple. My chin and neck are just about the only visible part
jacks beard is denser
once u pointed out the patches i couldn’t unsee them but they ain’t bad lol :p
I am growing a beard. Too jack. Hi im Jeffrey. I gotta choose a style its still growing my beard
after 2 month's I decided to see a local barbershop around the corner,
for a fresh haircut and some little beard trim, the only problem is he trimmed it too short, the beard line that supposed to be 2 fingers above your Adam's apple is now around 3 fingers, what do you guys advise, shave everything off and start again?
Yep
I’m 16 and have a moustache as well as a few hairs on my chin and cheeks. All my relatives can grow a beard but I feel like I should have more facial hair by now. Anyone know if this is normal?
Rock those patches. Your patches look good dude. The irony is that your patches emphasise your mustache and make it look better. Want a better looking mustache with your beard? Leave those patches to the sides :)
Calling it a Post Malone mustache made me want to shave immediately
I like how every point for you ends up turning into a point for Greg
I like how victor (like sabretooth) has wolverine like facial hair
My strong point are my neck be beard hair if I don't take care of it actually connect to my chest hair my cheeks grow just to the bottom of my eyes so I have to take care of that and my Chen just grows thicker faster then the rest of my beard but I do have a major patch on my jaw just below my Chen and patches on my cheeks
I have the same mustache as Jack so I feel his pain with wanting the full stash😂
My therapist: beardless greg is not real, he can't hurt you
Beardless greg: 1:43
Jack, rock those cheek notches. Check out Jayson Werth’s beard if you ever get tempted to shave your cheeks.
Yes more beard comparisons
How do you say “November 1st to December 31st” then say “two and a half months” 😂
Love the video. Comparisons of yalls beards were cool and hope to see more videos like this. I have a patchy beard so I like watching Greg’s videos, and yours as well sense you inspired me to grow out my beards. So keep on bearding.
Mahesh vs jack would be a great comparison !
Hey I'm 18 and my beard is growing kinda slow and in weird patterns should I grow it out or shave it
