Love the video Greg. I am someone who has very similar coverage to Shia on my mustache/chin area however my hair is light blonde and ginger. So for me I always feel like my front doesn’t look very good or full but it’s really mostly my beard color genetics. This video gave me confidence and I thank you for that 🤙🤙
I think that bare spots under the lower lips its pretty common beard pattern and most men have it at some degree.it is not a beard flaw or something, and it might looks better that 100 percent full coverage. But nice video- content as always!
Thanks for this video and the encouragement Greg! I have have some thin spots and disconnect in my beard and in the past I have just shaved it down after about 30 days because I was insecure about my weak areas. After seeing one of Eric's videos about beard stache I started rocking that look and loved it. After several months of that look I let the rest of my facial hard start to grown in and going longer than my normal 30 days and also let my neck line grown down further and I am starting to love my bearded look, flaws in all. Rock what you got and wear it with confidence!
Love the beard you have. Your perfect the way you are. Those are the mantras I always repeat to myself. I’ve rocked facial hair for a very long time. Letting the beard grow longer has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my bearded journey. Many of the “little problem” areas just disappeared because of age and my own self perception. I think it comes down to finding the right style for your face shape and for the general texture and density of your beard. Most people tends to forget that a beard is seen as a whole and usually from the front by other chaps. Personally, having a strong moustache and front and not so dense cheeks and sideburns, I went for a Nicholas II / George V style. By doing so, the weaker aspects of my beard appear as intentional (let's call that a "faux fade" : )
It IS encouraging. Thanks Greg. This kind of positivity is what got me hooked on Beardbrand last month. My beard is roughly similar to yours, Greg, with subtle areas that could be called "challenges", but every day it gets longer and every day I'm loving it more than the day before.
I'm often perceived as having a super dense and full beard, but I have a few gaps (especially where my mustache meets my beard). I'm constantly telling guys with thinner beards to just let it grow. Great video, Greg! We need more fellas rocking their beard and showing that ALL beards are welcome!
I am 23 and have had a beard for about two years. I would never let it grow longer than a month or so without trimming it down to a stubble, due to bald areas under my lip and small unevenness on my cheeks. Since watching your videos about a month ago I shaved everything off and started over and just seeing where it goes. Thank you Greg.
I used to be really insecure with my facial hair and how patchy some parts start out. I look to everyone and their styles for inspiration, respect to all beards and mustaches.
The guys on Vikings are exactly who I look at for reassure when I'm trying to grow out my beard, specifically because they're a bit spotty. They're patching, uneven and scraggly. But they work. It's just a certain look you can rock.
Man I went 4 weeks 3 times in a row, didn't like the thin patches on the sides and shaved. Greg is super awesome and I'm at my 3rd week again. Going to stick it out for as long as I can to break through the barrier. Curios to see myself after a few months.

He’s self conscious because he can only grow up to about his chin line but I’ve always said, YOUR beard is yours! Its what makes YOU unique and no one else looks like you. So make it your own! This is great Greg, especially for first time growers such as myself. 3 days away from my #Yeard BTW! It’s not perfect but I’m claiming it as a #keeper. Thx again 👊🏼
Congratulations on the yeard 😁 I started in November for international men’s day and not touched it, so far my chin is growing as is my moustache but my cheeks are definitely slow but I’d love to see how far I can take my beard.
@@Wolfsong27FlyHalfFullHeart Awesome!! I’m going to keep growing. I want to let my mustache & soul patch go terminal. Terminal stache because I want a low, loose curl/swoop, natural looking handle bar to sit on top the beard & soul patch to provide maximum coverage between where it stops and a sparse area above my chin. Also my cheeks have coverage but more length will give them the density I desire. Overall I wanna see if I can achieve a big majestic beard. #BeardOn 👊🏼
Vikings is the show that made want to grow a first time beard seeing their beards mature through the seasons. I was also inspired to grow my hair long largely from Vikings.
Great video as always. I’m definitely one of those people who has tried multiple times to grow a beard but gets fed up with my “problem areas” (moustache refuses to connect) and ends up shaving it off. Fun fact a fair number of the Vikings cast had extensions attached to their beards (why they chose to keep the scraggly look is beyond me)
Happened to me, i never grew my beard before because i tought that it was going to be awful...BUT, i gave it enough time and i have been as a bearded guy for more than a year...very happy with it!!, love my beard.
Love this channel how you just encourages everyone to grow a beard no matter if it's short or long patchy or full. You give me a lot of confidence whenever I come up to one of your videos. Been growing the beard for 2 months now going for that long look now 😁 been rocking the short to medium beard from last 7 to 8 years but it's time to go full Viking 😁😁🤟🤟
I never knew that under the lip no coverage was a thing. I actually shave that part of my beard while growing it out because I thought it was a style, Like shaping a soul patch and a full beard around it
My weak areas tend to be under my bottom lip, on both sides. Granted, it's a small area but I know it's there. And also that area where mustache ends and cheek line begins. I found a workaround to that by combing the stache back towards my cheeks to give the perception of more density. And like you Greg, from the side, my cheeks aren't that dense. And last but not least, I have an 'ok' mustache, but nowhere near yours, Eric's, Carlos's, or Jeff's. My best coverage tends to be the chin area.
Thank you greg !! This has given me a big confidence boost after seeing these guys like Jason mamoa who I thought had a really great beard but to know that gives me the slack I’ve been over stressing about little bits and patchy n flyaways but I’m just gonna rock it !!
My beard is thick under my chin, around my cheeks and jaw, but my moustache is quite thin and is taking a lot longer for it to come in thick, so I’m still waiting, 2 months down, 10 more to go for my beard growth journey
@@washburn9999 Awesome, I was inspired to go with the vandyke because of the film tintin in 2011 the villain in that rocks a really banging vandyke and I hope to get to his level of sleekness.
Thanks, great advice , I have oval close to round. Now that I’m older I’m having a hard time finding shape I usually wear van dyke. Full beard makes my face look rounder. Unless I keep it short. Subscribed.
my weak areas are my moustache and just under the lip can grow a decent soul patch but everything else along the lip is bare. otherthan that just wish my upper cheek lines came in fuller.
I have a beard that is patterned like the one Keanu Reeves has except mine is less patchy and bald. I have high and sharp cheek line and a strong neck line with medium thickness and medium density hair, but I have disconnect between my mustach and my goatee and also between my sideburns and my mustache and goatee. Its like it grows in all white trashy like Joe Dirt. Forever I would just rock a three piece where I shave the corners and the areas that were weak and disconnected. I first found out that when I grow out the mustache it eventually covers over the area of disconnect between the chin and mouth. And now when I grow my sideburns about 2 inches it covers over the bald areas when I comb it forward. My neck hairs frow upward and the opposite direction to the face hairs. This us apparently called the double beard. The neck hairs are brushed upward from the neck to the chin to create a base that pushes all the downward growing facial hairs outward to create that box look. I always thought that I could never grow a beard, but now I see how those thin areas make the beard look better because the area of disconnect between the chin hairs and the jaw hairs provide a valley or a niche for a long thick mustache like mine to lay into nicely. Its all by design. So no matter what kind of beard you have, you will find out in the end that some hairs grow faster on one side than the other, and in different directions, or not all all, for a reason. Let our creator do the work. Its a test of patience to get through the awkward phase which makes the effort that much more appealing. Less people grow beards than do, so having a long beard tells people 1) that you don't care what they think 2) that you do what you want and 3) that you stay committed to things. That says a lot about you before anyone even gets a chance to talk to you. It commands attention and respect. Its your beard and you can rock it no matter who hates on it. Most beard haters are people who can't grow one out themselves either because they don't have a beard or because they are afraid of judgement. So forget them.
My beard is exactly like half of these dudes. And I’ve been rocking this type of beard for about 4 years now. And never realized how many other people had the same type.
Great video. Look at Jack Passion 2 time world beard champion, his moustache isn't strong by any means and yet he still holds 2 world titles and countless others.
I used to have the mustache disconnect but as I grew older it connected. I also have the thin spots under my mouth. But just grow it. In winter I go full mountain man and in summer shave sides off but leave every inch of the goatee. So mine looks weak on sides when tamed down but long and strong in front.
Really happy I have even coverage full beard. No growth on the neck. I'm always trying to get other people to keep there beard. They say they want to buy can't
Awesome video! I’ve really enjoyed watching your content these past few weeks, it’s been a huge influence for me to decide to try growing out facial hair for the first time at 20! 2 questions for you: 1) I have relatively dry skin, I always have to put on facial moisturizer after I get out of the shower. Should I avoid using it in the areas that I’m growing facial hair though? Should I replace the moisturizer for beard oil after a shower? 2) I love the way your hair is styled in this video, it’s pretty similar to the style I rocked for years, but my barbershop got shut down during the pandemic and I haven’t been able to find a barber that can get me the cut that I’m looking for. Any advice on what sorts of measurements or guidelines that I can give them to get a similar result? I appreciate it, have a good one!
Beards are suppose to have those two patches of no hair under our bottom lip, many people like myself actually shave that under the lip area to be totally bald because if I want I can grow it in fully from the chin to the bottom lip but I think it looks silly without the patches
tbh I like it more when the mustache doesn't connect to the beard and if there are these two bald spots under the lower lip. Full coverage to me looks too savage.
Biggest cope ever. Greg looks like a "savage" lmao. If you have a full beard with coverage, you can disconnect the mustache as a style like Mariano do Vaio or connect it if you want.
see ive always perceived jason momoa as beard goals but like unobtainable, but seeing it at a new angle has really made me realise apart from the length im not far off😅
They're celebrities, some of them are exceptional handsome, so a disheveled look can be beneficial, giving them a softer or a more care free, aproachable (the - look, I'm not perfect and I don't care) look. Or it's for a caracter they're playing in an upcoming movie...
Ive noticed coverage under the lip isnt really liked by most. So dont feel odd if you dont have much hair under the lip. The ladies prefer no hair right there.
Good video. My beard isn't perfect and my shit looks similar to some of these guys on this list. I think you should just rock what you have and be proud of what you have..
🤔 Greg, the "area of weakness" under the lower lip, is an intentional style for the majority of men who have it. They keep it shaved. I used to do it myself before I got tired of maintaining it and just let it all grow in 😂
I'm sorry, but a huge portion of men don't naturally grow hair under the lip, including myself. It's very common. Having a full beard that covers the whole face including the weaker areas is actually not so common
@@BiggyJimbo a huge portion? I've seen a few younger guys with sparse growth-- thin mustaches and patchy chins and cheeks, I dunno that I'd call it a huge portion, but I don't pay super close attention to mens faces, any more than casual observation....but men who can grow adequate beards usually have full or mostly full growth under our lower lip 🤷♂️ and the fellas I've seen without, obviously shave and shape that area. It's definitely a style more often than lack of growth.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Well, I'm not gonna say your experience is wrong, you've seen what you've seen I guess. I would definitely bet my money that there are more men with overall patchy, sparse beards than the dense bearded guys you're talking about. I don't really see why people would want to shape that area - if I could grow a full beard up to the lip like you I definitely would haha.. personal preference I suppose Maybe there's more testosterone in the water supply where you're from haha All the best
@@BiggyJimbo 😂 that could be, with the water. Personally ( as I've begun doing it again, but I always leave a triangle under my lip ), it shows more of my face, gives my beard a more intriguing shape, and makes me look less menacing than I do with the beard up to the lower lip 🤣🤷♂️ Each his own, and the ladies seem to like it. Cheers and God Bless, brother.
Never understood why sparseness under the lip was a problem to me it looks better than fullness under the lip. On the cheeks absolutely ... under the lip? Nope.
Sometime age will get your beard to fill in a lot more.Age will also make you hair more corse. My beard from 18 to 50 looks like a completly differant person.
Damn, when will people realize that the part under the lips is not a patchy part, just a different growth pattern determined by genes. I mean, think about it, some guys have amazing coverage all over, but a specific bald pattern below lip? If it was a patch, it would not have a specific shape where the hair doesn't grow, I mean, symmetrical one.
Ahhh, these guys are more attractive than most.. beard or not.. you have amazing eye brows too. I wish mine were bushy and big. Thinking about a beard. I’m 38 and never tried. I think I’d be in the lower middle of the spectrum. Would be cool to look at men’s stubble and then beards. Just so we clean shaven men can guesstimate

I got the opposite, my beard is quite curly and it takes a lot of time to get to a certain length or at least look like its more than a few weeks old.
My beard is pretty straight I do prefer it like that.
curly beards look difficult to control
Great video. Look at Jack Passion 2 time world beard champion, his moustache isn't strong by any means and yet he still holds 2 world titles and countless others.
Seeing these thin, patchy beards on celebrities makes me love my full thick beard even more.
Watching Vikings gave me confidence to grow out my patchy beard
Great video! You are awesome Greg! Cheers from Sweden. 👊
Another great video Greg. My beard gives me the confidence I never thought possible.
I rock a patchy beards & it’s fine
I used to have the mustache disconnect but as I grew older it connected. I also have the thin spots under my mouth. But just grow it. In winter I go full mountain man and in summer shave sides off but leave every inch of the goatee. So mine looks weak on sides when tamed down but long and strong in front.
Always great guidance. Thank you.
Another great video.. would love to see a vid on styles of beard for round / fat faces, with double chin, etc..
Tbh, these celebrities look good already no matter what they wear.
Geralt has a low beard line. Looks cool tho
2 questions for you:
1) I have relatively dry skin, I always have to put on facial moisturizer after I get out of the shower.
Oh also, any advice on styling your hair? What sorts of products or tools do you use? Thanks!
Beards are suppose to have those two patches of no hair under our bottom lip, many people like myself actually shave that under the lip area to be totally bald because if I want I can grow it in fully from the chin to the bottom lip but I think it looks silly without the patches
Daily peppermint oil on your beard does wonders. It definitely stimulates blood flow to the area helping hair growth.
tbh I like it more when the mustache doesn't connect to the beard and if there are these two bald spots under the lower lip. Full coverage to me looks too savage.
Biggest cope ever. Greg looks like a "savage" lmao. If you have a full beard with coverage, you can disconnect the mustache as a style like Mariano do Vaio or connect it if you want.
That’s was a great video Greg !!!
see ive always perceived jason momoa as beard goals but like unobtainable, but seeing it at a new angle has really made me realise apart from the length im not far off😅
hey greg you hav inspired me to grow a full beard rock on man
Much appreciated, Greg!
Your eyeliner is just as good as Selena Gomez
Im so proud of my beard now😃 THANKS GUYS
im 3 months in on my 1 year journey and i have patches that seam to be filling in when i never thort they would
That's awesome!

7% argentinian indian. I have never had a real beard. Considering minoxidil and microneedling. Maybe DHT creme? (I am on TRT anyways, M54)
Great message. Great video.
We (Men) 😉 whatever the situation must never stop grow up our beards, no matters why...let them grow
My mustache is the strongest part of my beard. For now my cheeks are low (what I think!)
A strong mustache is a force to be reckoned with 💪

My facial hair growth allows me a sweet Ankle like Tony Stark and I love that.
They're celebrities, some of them are exceptional handsome, so a disheveled look can be beneficial, giving them a softer or a more care free, aproachable (the - look, I'm not perfect and I don't care) look. Or it's for a caracter they're playing in an upcoming movie...
This video boosted my confidence!
That's awesome! Glad it was useful

The moment barbers are closed and you mess up the trim.
I did. I cried. Trimmed it all to 1 millimeter....
So the growing begins again 🙈
I feel you ;) Keep on growing!
Thank you, Greg!
I only have 3 little hairs on my chin, should I let them grow?
🤔 Greg, the "area of weakness" under the lower lip, is an intentional style for the majority of men who have it. They keep it shaved. I used to do it myself before I got tired of maintaining it and just let it all grow in 😂
Truth. I used to shave it for my ghotee, but have decided to just quit shaving
I don't really see why people would want to shape that area - if I could grow a full beard up to the lip like you I definitely would haha.. personal preference I suppose
Maybe there's more testosterone in the water supply where you're from haha
All the best
@@BiggyJimbo 😂 that could be, with the water. Personally ( as I've begun doing it again, but I always leave a triangle under my lip ), it shows more of my face, gives my beard a more intriguing shape, and makes me look less menacing than I do with the beard up to the lower lip 🤣🤷♂️ Each his own, and the ladies seem to like it.
Cheers and God Bless, brother.
Pedro pascal knows how to work with what he got
Never understood why sparseness under the lip was a problem to me it looks better than fullness under the lip. On the cheeks absolutely ... under the lip? Nope.
Great haircut!
Sometime age will get your beard to fill in a lot more.Age will also make you hair more corse. My beard from 18 to 50 looks like a completly differant person.
Man I wish that Greg grows his hair out long again. He looks so much better with long hair
Nice haircut Greg I like beard brand I have a goatee beard I might grow the whole thing out. What do you think let me know in the comments
My beard grows super slowwwww I want full long beard but I don’t think I will have that unless I spend few years
I will never get over how much Chad energy this man radiates
I feel like my mustache is the problem. My chin and everything is full of hair but my mustache is thin in comparison:(
this is a great reminder that appearance is entirely subjective 👍🏻
Greg needs to start BrowBrand 😇
Damn, when will people realize that the part under the lips is not a patchy part, just a different growth pattern determined by genes. I mean, think about it, some guys have amazing coverage all over, but a specific bald pattern below lip? If it was a patch, it would not have a specific shape where the hair doesn't grow, I mean, symmetrical one.
I see your point and I agreed, most men beard grows like that . So it’s a genetic pattern for sure
You forgot mark wahlberg in lone survivor
Jason Momoa vs Jerry Garcia is a good visual reminder that “hitting the gym” isn’t going to magically thicken your beard. 😅
thank you for the encouragement!, your the man.
Jason mamoa has the best eyebrows on the whole world
