Another compelling use-case for Line level: Music video, where you’re taking a mix from an audio board (ex. the FoH feed from a PA), especially if the mix is in stereo.
@@RedFrameTech I have the GH6 and use the rode wireless mic. I used the presets rode provided for the GH6 camera and turn the cameras db all the way down to -18db. However, when I listen to it back it has a lot of room noise and hissing. Not to mention it's so quiet you can barely hear it. When I turn the db up on the camera it gets louder but the audio doesn't sound as clean. Do you have any suggestions?
@@skgreenhouseNot sure what the Rode preset looks like, but I’d recommend setting the gain on the Rode as high as it will allow while keeping your audio around -12dB. Then adjust your gain on the GH6. I’m not sure if the Rode has true line level output, but you may need to set your GH6 to Line if the signal is too hot on Mic. Hope that helps!
Correct, in the sense that 0dB is the default level. You set the line out level at the external recorder’s end first. If that’s not loud enough or too quiet, you can adjust levels in camera
I currently have an Azden model SMX 30. My GH5s will power this mic when it is set in the auto setting on the microphone itself. No matter what option I choose in camera on the GH6 or GH7, the Azden model mic will not come on via auto mode, and instead I have to set it into battery mode. Any idea on why?
That's a strange problem to have. I don't really know what that can be, but my guess would be that the GH6/7 put out a slightly different voltage than the GH5s.

That is definitely a great use case! Thanks for sharing
Every day is a school day, and I've learned something new.
The Panasonic PDF Manual isn't all that helpful.
Cheers.
Awesome! 🙂
very good post now i know...also when using my Deity shotgun i had to change the spread in the GH6 to get it working
Oh yeah, thanks for this, I did learn something from you yet again, in particular ‘Line Input’. Thanks.
Awesome 🙂
Thanks for this, didn't know any of this. As someone said below, everyday is a learning day. !
You’re most welcome 🙂
Thank you for the video! Can i ask what setting you reccomend for the Rode wireless go or the DJI mic you have on in the video??
It isn’t a Rode nor a DJI 😅 It’s the Fulaim X5. There’s a review on my channel. Thanks for watching!

@@RedFrameTech thanks for taking the time to answer. I'll try this out!
That was helpful. So, setting the line level to 0db means it doesn't touch the level of the input?

Saweet🎉Thank You
