My dad was at this show and had been skeptical that this was there last tour, then they started playing songs that they haven't played live which started to reinforce the idea that this tour in fact was their last, then when Neil stepped past the "backline meridian" my dad knew, it was over. In 1984, my family moved to Winchester VA just before I went into 9th grade; met my new best friend, who introduced me to Rush music. In 1998, I move to Ontario, Canada. In 2004, my partner and I open a computer shop. In 2007, my partner and I bought a house across the street from Rush's manager's parents house. In 2010, I meet Neil's father....we become his "computer guys". During the Clockwork Angels tour he comes in and asks us if we'd like Rush tickets? I said "I love you!". Two 5th row floor seats. R40 tour, same thing. 5th row. We had the best time ever. Small world. RIP, Glen, RIP Neil.
We found Rush at almost the exact same time. I was in tenth grade and a friend lent me a tape with Moving Pictures on one side and Signals on the other. That was all it took. Hooked for life. Cried when Neil passed. Never met him and never would have bothered him in public but he was in my life for over 30 years.

Right now the tears are rolling down my cheeks. I had the great privilege to have seen Rush 10 times. My first Rush concert was the 2112 tour 1976, in Amarillo, Texas, $5.00. I still have the ticket stub. That stub is displayed on the cover of the book "Rush FAQ" by Max Mobley. "And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make."
They respected themselves, each other, the music, the fans. Kept the money split exactly evenly. Three ultra professional gentlemen that never stopped trying to improve their musicianship.

I never got to meet Neil, it was a dream to do so. However on November 1, 1997, my friend Jason was working local crew for Rush in Milwaukee and we were driving over to the Bradley Center and a gentleman on a motorcycle pulled up next to us on 4th and Juneau and Jason says - "What if that was Neil." We laughed, no way. We pulled up in front of the Bradley Center and went in. This was 11am or 12. We walked the bowel of the arena to the back loading dock and as we turned the corner we see Neil laying on the floor changing the oil to the GS, the very cycle we saw moments ago. We shat. We pretended we were supposed to be there and stuck to the walls. Brutus was walking around back there in leathers. Neil at one point glanced over his shoulder at me curiously. We waited a minute or two and made a peaceful retreat. Daring not to ask for autographs. That was my brush with the legend and I'm happy enough that that happened. Wherever you are Neil. I hope you are at peace. Thank you for the memories the words and the music.
Somehow life guides you where you should be right? We were at this show. It was magic. And when Neil came out I remember thinking wow! 7 shows in, and never saw that! RIP Professor Sir!
As a former drummer words can’t state the importance of Neil Peart in my life. He was an influence, a teacher, a goal and in some was an albatross (when I tried to learn an impossible one of his parts) but most of all he was an inspiration. If not for him I probably would have never bought a drum kit. Watching this broke my heart but also made me smile for the memories. Thank you Neil, Geddy, AND Alex for what you’ve mean to ALL of us.
I saw them when they were playing Toronto high school gyms and bars with their original drummer, the late John Rutsey (b.1952-d.2008). I watched them go from bars to opening for big name acts, to them headlining Maple Leaf Gardens. Their prog/rock era, their more commercial FM friendly era, the tragic 90s where there was great doubt as to whether the band would continue or not. Their resurrection in the 2000's and their graceful exit with their best song from their very first album. They never sold out, they never gave it anything but their very best. So proud of these three hosers who stayed humble from start to finish. The greatest band Canada has ever produced, and one of the greatest bands of all-time.
"Working Man" was their breakthrough hit in the US. A fitting last song for one of the hardest working rock and roll bands ever. For many years they were snubbed by the snobby music critics and passed over by the RRHOF. Their working class fans never left, them and by force of will they finally received the recognition they deserved.
My dad took me to go see Rush on the R40 tour in Seattle. There has never been a show since that I’ve seen that could possibly top what I saw that night. I wouldn’t have gotten into music myself if I hadn’t heard Spirit of the Radio on 97.1 fm when I was in middle school. I’m forever grateful to have experienced Rush live, and I owe it to my dad %150.

Canada has presented us some of the GREATEST ROCK. I say this as a A life long, native born U.S. citizen. Our northern neighbors have ROCKED US just as hard had the Brits did!. Seemingly "the kids" associate Canadian music with Bieber or perhaps (somewhat "better" Celine Dion..) BUT Holy Fuck: Rush, The Guess Who, B.T.O, Triumph, April Wine, The Band and not to EVER be forgotten Gordon Lightfoot. And More! Being from Pittsburgh, PA I was lucky to hear great Canadian radio, like CKLW and others. Thank you Canada for this! Well, also thank you for the Telephone, Walkie Talkie, Basketball and Hockey too!!

Rush was a huge part of my childhood. My parents split and lived in different provinces. Maybe twice a year my dad would drive from Alberta to BC to pick me and my 2 brothers up for a visit. He was always listening to Rush, I didnt like every song as a kid but as I got older I started to appreciate them so much. My dad went to 28 Rush concerts in his life. Working Man came out when my dad was 17 and he taught himself how to play their songs. RIP Neil Peart
Damn this brought tears to my eyes. I was there for this at the Forum 15th row floor. My brother and I both knew this was it. Especially after seeing Neil come to the front of the stage. He never did that in all the years I've seen them live. Farewell Rush...you're AWESOME! 😎🎸🥁🎤🎹
I was there too. Was lucky enough to see the first 2 shows and the last 5 on this tour. It was so incredible! Mixed feelings with all the fans I know. Sadness because we knew this was the end, but total bliss seeing them play these amazing show and rockn their asses off!! They ended in style and on top. As always, a class act. Thanks for a lifetime of music guys! Your fans, me included, love you and appreciate all you gave us. 🤘

The surprise of Neil walking up on stage afterwards made me tear up a little. What a concert and what a band. I've been a Rush fan for as long as I can remember and the last hurrah of Rush will be in my memory forever. What an absolutely amazing run for these three brilliant musicians. Got to see them numerous times from the early 90s through the last tour. Wish I could have been there for this final moment. My favorite band since I saw them warmup KISS in December of 1975 in Pittsburgh, PA. I saw ever tour after that and met Alex and Geddy after the Roll the Bones concert here. Great guys. Spoke with me and a friend for 25 minutes. Still can't believe it.

The first time I ever heard a Rush song was in high school 1979 and a great local band played 2112, the whole first side of the album. I pretty stoned and being a drummer was totally fixated on the drummer. I was totally blown away hearing the music for the first time. I later asked what music that was to a friend he replied ‘That’s Rush man!’. They became interwoven into the fabric of my life as I played in many bands for years. Each time I hear a Rush song, it takes me back to a specific moment in time. Thanks guys! RIP Neil, you were the bench mark all of us drummers aspired to hit. God Bless you.
Neil was such a huge influence to me. His lyrics spoke to the soul. Knowing that he never once came to front and center stage to take a bow and then seeing him do it here had me in tears immediately the 1st time i saw it, and still brings me to tears. These guys were the epitome of class.
Brings back the memories,😊 work my whole life, the song kept me in the rat race. No matter where I was at, no matter what task I was performing, the volume went to 10😊 and I took a break, thanks for the memories Rush

What an amazing way of playing his drum kit, despite of feeling so bad mentally and physically... I will love you guys till the rest of my life! Thanks so much for making us so happy! Bittersweet moment, seeing Neil up there in the limelight finally. And then gone so soon afterwards. So glad my son and I finally saw them in Chicago during this tour!
With this left also an era of music that contributed greatly to be part of the generations to see them live and anticipate the release of album after album. That is no longer possible and forever an experience that was included in shaping some aspect of that which is positive in my life. Im speaking of Rush during the 70's and 80's. Those years mean the most to me. Signals, Moving Pictures, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire and Exit Stage Left, 2112, All The Worlds A Stage , Rush, Fly By Night, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, Caress of Steel. Saw Them at the Forum on the Power Windows Tour. Took the bus on a school night.
I caught the R40 tour in San Jose, CA. I live about a 12 to 15 minute drive from the arena. It was like my 39th time that I had seen the band, & they were every bit as from the first time I saw them in 1974 till the very end!!! When I saw them in Germany, I was stationed there in the Army. I meet the entire band after the Frankfurt concert in 1979. It was their last show & Geddy & his wife were going to take a sight seeing tour. When I heard that I told him some really great places to checkout in Switzerland. I went to school there when I was in 5th to 7th grades. So I know some awesome places to go & see. Man, what a great memory of these great players. My friends, we will never see such a band ever again, & let us all thank God that we got to see them.
I was at that show too. Brought my kids who were 10 and 8 at the time. I then went to The Forum show with my oldest brother who turned me onto Rush back in 1981.

Working Man was one of the first songs I heard from Rush. All The World's a Stage live album from 1976, just after the 2112 studio release. Been a Rush fan ever since. I live 52 miles from their base city of TO. One of the most musical and musically intricate bands ever. I've memorized some of Neil's lyrics. They are timeless, just as he references Shakespeare and Milton. Alex and Geddy and Neil. A combo that will never be replicated. "Never more shall I return Escape these caves of ice For I have dined on honey dew And drunk the milk of paradise, whoa, paradise"

've listened to Rush nearly every day since 1984 started playing drums being Neil impressed me so much! I can't imagine playing drums for freaking 40 years his poor wrists had to be hamburger!
I have been a Rush fan since 1976. I was 10 and I saw Rush and Kansas in 1976 and 1977. The energy, the fun and the vibe was fantastic during the 1 year before and after our bicentennial. 1976/1977 was all about Rush, Kansas and Peter Frampton. RIP Mr. Peart.
my first concert rush, starcastle and max webster right before all the worlds a stage came out, blew this 15 year old kid away, i knew i had seen something special and to this day it is just as special today as it was back then, three of the greatest musicians in the history of music, thanks doesnt seem to be enough but thank you alex neil and geddy, your music and memories will last forever!
Tears, tears, tears. They are streaming. I’m so moved beyond words. Perhaps Neil can articulate what I’m feeling from beyond the lighted stage. This is the core of what life is. I know that sounds ridiculous but fellow Rush fans know what I am trying to say. Ok, more tears now.

I was at this show. It was amazing! Neil jumped off the kit and came down to join Alex and Geddy. At the time no one could know what would happen not too long after when we lost Neil Peart. I will remember that night fondly. What a great band! RIP Neil Peart.
I was right there at Alex's side of the stage same view as the camera beside Neil.... Got to meet Alex Lifeson that night.... My 53rd Rush show.... Saw them the 1st time at the Forum in 1978.... Great memories!
Looking at and listening to RUSH, I can't help but think about how tragic neil's life was. And throughout this whole tour he was in pain and didn't even want to do the tour to begin with but still did and kicked ass. I wasn't sure whether or not to feel bad for him but seeing the smile on his face as he stood between neil and geddy, I think I should just be happy for his legacy.

I saw three shows on that tour, including that one. I wasn't sure it was over until Neil came out to take a bow. Cried like a 5 year old whose best toy broke, but I'm glad I was there to see it.
Best band EVER!!! Loved them since I heard Twilight Zone on vinyl with a pair of Realistic headphones when I was 12!! Warped my young mind!!! Seen them live twice, and they are insane!!!
Oh it's okay to cry. And I'm crying tears of joy. Can't imagine what it would have been like to have not been old enough to enjoy this Stellar 40-plus year career. You guys out there in your early sixties know exactly what I'm talking about. I was so glad that I was able to get my 13-14 year-old daughter in to rush back when they did the R30, and played the complete moving pictures album right after the intermission. Man was that an epic concert oh, and she started listening to more and more Rush. A couple of years later, when she had her driver's license, One time she was borrowing my vehicle with the 8 speaker surround system and the mini subwoofer in the back and I had left my Rush Greatest Hits CD in the player turned on, so when you start the vehicle it immediately starts playing where I left off, and she said she was driving around jamming turning it up😊❤ I think that would be a success as a father if there wasn't anything else I did successful, I have her listening and remembering Rush even as she now is basically 26 years old
RIP Neil. Just such a shame you were unable to keep going and bring the tour over here to the UK. An emotional finale and a fitting farewell to my favourite band and drummer of all time

My dad took me to go see Rush on the R40 tour in Seattle. There has never been a show since that I’ve seen that could possibly top what I saw that night.
I wouldn’t have gotten into music myself if I hadn’t heard Spirit of the Radio on 97.1 fm when I was in middle school. I’m forever grateful to have experienced Rush live, and I owe it to my dad %150.
Why did it happen? Because it happened…
Let’s be grateful for having been able to experience the existence of this Band.

Canada has presented us some of the GREATEST ROCK. I say this as a A life long, native born U.S. citizen. Our northern neighbors have ROCKED US just as hard had the Brits did!. Seemingly "the kids" associate Canadian music with Bieber or perhaps (somewhat "better" Celine Dion..) BUT Holy Fuck: Rush, The Guess Who, B.T.O, Triumph, April Wine, The Band and not to EVER be forgotten Gordon Lightfoot. And More! Being from Pittsburgh, PA I was lucky to hear great Canadian radio, like CKLW and others. Thank you Canada for this! Well, also thank you for the Telephone, Walkie Talkie, Basketball and Hockey too!!

Rush was a huge part of my childhood. My parents split and lived in different provinces. Maybe twice a year my dad would drive from Alberta to BC to pick me and my 2 brothers up for a visit. He was always listening to Rush, I didnt like every song as a kid but as I got older I started to appreciate them so much. My dad went to 28 Rush concerts in his life. Working Man came out when my dad was 17 and he taught himself how to play their songs. RIP Neil Peart
Damn this brought tears to my eyes. I was there for this at the Forum 15th row floor. My brother and I both knew this was it. Especially after seeing Neil come to the front of the stage. He never did that in all the years I've seen them live. Farewell Rush...you're AWESOME! 😎🎸🥁🎤🎹

I was there too. Was lucky enough to see the first 2 shows and the last 5 on this tour. It was so incredible! Mixed feelings with all the fans I know. Sadness because we knew this was the end, but total bliss seeing them play these amazing show and rockn their asses off!! They ended in style and on top. As always, a class act. Thanks for a lifetime of music guys! Your fans, me included, love you and appreciate all you gave us. 🤘

Geddy described this so well in his book. Neil shocked them by coming up to the front of the stage….and that was it. There was a time.
I was there, with my eight year old son who could barely keep his eyes open. A forever memory, no doubt.
Geddy and Alex knew about Neil's illness.. Respect kept it to themselves. RIP NEIL. THE MASTER...

The surprise of Neil walking up on stage afterwards made me tear up a little. What a concert and what a band. I've been a Rush fan for as long as I can remember and the last hurrah of Rush will be in my memory forever. Thank you Alex, Geddy, Neil, and all the crew for putting on all the shows and making a memory that will forever be one of the best moments in my life.

What an absolutely amazing run for these three brilliant musicians. Got to see them numerous times from the early 90s through the last tour. Wish I could have been there for this final moment. Great memories I will cherish forever. Thank you Rush for getting me through the hard times and the good times.

My favorite band since I saw them warmup KISS in December of 1975 in Pittsburgh, PA. I saw ever tour after that and met Alex and Geddy after the Roll the Bones concert here. Great guys. Spoke with me and a friend for 25 minutes. Still can't believe it.
Man, I can't even imagine seeing every tour since 75. That must have been amazing. My first tour was Signals and I missed a few tours along the way.
1968-2018 - 50 years as an active band. Amazing!
The last performance was 2015. Thats 47 years.

The first time I ever heard a Rush song was in high school 1979 and a great local band played 2112, the whole first side of the album. I pretty stoned and being a drummer was totally fixated on the drummer. I was totally blown away hearing the music for the first time. I later asked what music that was to a friend he replied ‘That’s Rush man!’. They became interwoven into the fabric of my life as I played in many bands for years. Each time I hear a Rush song, it takes me back to a specific moment in time. Thanks guys! RIP Neil, you were the bench mark all of us drummers aspired to hit. God Bless you.
Neil was such a huge influence to me. His lyrics spoke to the soul. Knowing that he never once came to front and center stage to take a bow and then seeing him do it here had me in tears immediately the 1st time i saw it, and still brings me to tears. These guys were the epitome of class.

Bittersweet moment, seeing Neil up there in the limelight finally. And then gone so soon afterwards. So glad my son and I finally saw them in Chicago during this tour!
With this left also an era of music that contributed greatly to be part of the generations to see them live and anticipate the release of album after album. That is no longer possible and forever an experience that was included in shaping some aspect of that which is positive in my life. Im speaking of Rush during the 70's and 80's. Those years mean the most to me. Signals, Moving Pictures, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire and Exit Stage Left, 2112, All The Worlds A Stage , Rush, Fly By Night, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, Caress of Steel. Saw Them at the Forum on the Power Windows Tour. Took the bus on a school night.
And how fitting that he retired on the signature double kit that made him a legend in the first place. 👐👐👐
I caught the R40 tour in San Jose, CA. I live about a 12 to 15 minute drive from the arena. It was like my 39th time that I had seen the band, & they were every bit as from the first time I saw them in 1974 till the very end!!! When I saw them in Germany, I was stationed there in the Army. I meet the entire band after the Frankfurt concert in 1979. It was their last show & Geddy & his wife were going to take a sight seeing tour. When I heard that I told him some really great places to checkout in Switzerland. I went to school there when I was in 5th to 7th grades. So I know some awesome places to go & see. Man, what a great memory of these great players. My friends, we will never see such a band ever again, & let us all thank God that we got to see them.

I was at that show too. Brought my kids who were 10 and 8 at the time. I then went to The Forum show with my oldest brother who turned me onto Rush back in 1981.

I did get to take them to see the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis jr. Then to U2, so I didn't miss out on a special night with my kids!! Double thumbs up to ya brother!
Working Man was one of the first songs I heard from Rush. All The World's a Stage live album from 1976, just after the 2112 studio release. Been a Rush fan ever since. I live 52 miles from their base city of TO. One of the most musical and musically intricate bands ever. I've memorized some of Neil's lyrics. They are timeless, just as he references Shakespeare and Milton. Alex and Geddy and Neil. A combo that will never be replicated.

RIP Neil! The GOD of the drums. As a guitarist, I can say you were absolutely the best. This 3 band trio you were in were absolutely amazing. Nothing like it, or will ever become of it. Sad, but you were the best. You will live on brotha.
've listened to Rush nearly every day since 1984 started playing drums being Neil impressed me so much! I can't imagine playing drums for freaking 40 years his poor wrists had to be hamburger!

I have been a Rush fan since 1976. I was 10 and I saw Rush and Kansas in 1976 and 1977. The energy, the fun and the vibe was fantastic during the 1 year before and after our bicentennial. 1976/1977 was all about Rush, Kansas and Peter Frampton.

my first concert rush, starcastle and max webster right before all the worlds a stage came out, blew this 15 year old kid away, i knew i had seen something special and to this day it is just as special today as it was back then, three of the greatest musicians in the history of music, thanks doesnt seem to be enough but thank you alex neil and geddy, your music and memories will last forever!

Tears, tears, tears. They are streaming. I’m so moved beyond words. Perhaps Neil can articulate what I’m feeling from beyond the lighted stage. This is the core of what life is. I know that sounds ridiculous but fellow Rush fans know what I am trying to say. Ok, more tears now.
Thanks for sharing this footage. Such an enjoyable ride all those years. From a 10 year old kid hearing Rush “Chances” in the summer of ‘78 to seeing this final song performed. They finished well but, too soon. Farewell to Neil.

Pratt was his nickname amongst Geddy (Dirk) & Alex (Lerxst).
I was at this show. It was amazing! Neil jumped off the kit and came down to join Alex and Geddy. At the time no one could know what would happen not too long after when we lost Neil Peart. I will remember that night fondly. What a great band! RIP Neil Peart.
I was right there at Alex's side of the stage same view as the camera beside Neil.... Got to meet Alex Lifeson that night.... My 53rd Rush show.... Saw them the 1st time at the Forum in 1978.... Great memories!
Looking at and listening to RUSH, I can't help but think about how tragic neil's life was.
And throughout this whole tour he was in pain and didn't even want to do the tour to begin with but still did and kicked ass.
I wasn't sure whether or not to feel bad for him but seeing the smile on his face as he stood between neil and geddy, I think I should just be happy for his legacy.

Never thought I would see 3 genius musicians perform with a unique sound ,I never thought I would see anyone like ginger baker from cream but Neil Peart is an equal ,when ginger done a 15 minute drum solo the ash off his cigarette never fell off which to me was crazy but no doubt Neil and ginger will discuss their talents to God

The Point, he was a good man and maybe a deathbed convert...

I saw three shows on that tour, including that one. I wasn't sure it was over until Neil came out to take a bow. Cried like a 5 year old whose best toy broke, but I'm glad I was there to see it.

What a great concert, and what a great joy to have been able to see so many of them over the decades.
Oh it's okay to cry. And I'm crying tears of joy. Can't imagine what it would have been like to have not been old enough to enjoy this Stellar 40-plus year career. You guys out there in your early sixties know exactly what I'm talking about. I was so glad that I was able to get my 13-14 year-old daughter in to rush back when they did the R30, and played the complete moving pictures album right after the intermission. Man was that an epic concert oh, and she started listening to more and more Rush. A couple of years later, when she had her driver's license, One time she was borrowing my vehicle with the 8 speaker surround system and the mini subwoofer in the back and I had left my Rush Greatest Hits CD in the player turned on, so when you start the vehicle it immediately starts playing where I left off, and she said she was driving around jamming turning it up😊❤
I think that would be a success as a father if there wasn't anything else I did successful, I have her listening and remembering Rush even as she now is basically 26 years old
