Amps and bottoms sitting on chairs kinda reminds you of the beginning alright especially with Working Man being the song. Loved this band. Hell I burrowed my sisters car to go see them once at the Aragon in Chicago and when we came out the car had been stolen and used in the robbery of an electronics store, and then crashed in a police chase down. It took three months to get the car back. Just another typical Rush concert night! I couldn't have ever come up with a story this good if it hadn't happened to me!

Why do my eyes involuntarily leak every time I watch this? I mean, I first saw them live in 1974 with John Rutsey on drums, and have seen them live every time they've played hometown Toronto (including Sarstock). They were a totally unique, incredibly skilled trio of hosers who stayed humble and gracious their entire career. Just watching this is very emotional knowing this is it.. no more Rush. Bowing out with a song from their first album, and playing it with as much passion and fire as they played it 40 years ago. Thanks for the music guys. You were, and will always be a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.
We know he never played for fame. Maybe at one time money. But in the end he must have played out of love. He was an introvert, he didn’t hide it. Working Man, perfect Neil Peart always did his job. I was lucky enough to see them live a few times.
@@goobytron2888 What I've always loved about us Rush fans was our ability to let Neil be Neil. He was a great human being. The world's a little dimmer now or so it seems.
i may have commented before on this video, and i know i have on others, but i want to remark again ... what a class act ! i can't think of a rock band, or any other organization that has brought joy and love to so many people and done it together, because it was the goal and aspiration of each and every member of the band and organization. the love and respect that the band member of Rush, and i'm sure of their entire organization, had for each other is beyond any doubt the source of their continued popularity for 40 + years. my admiration goes beyond my love of their music; it is a total 360 degree love of their humanity.

I was at Pearson airport dropping off my wife as she was on her way to scotland, a guy asked me how to get to the SARS concert? He was from Florida and was there to see Rush! He didnt care about the Stones or AC/DC, just there for the band from YYZ.

Bitter sweet. Strange watching this. They were my favorite band at 9 years old in 1976 and still are. I just never ever thought about them not being around. 43 years to prepare for it and it still caught me off guard. They went out on top and at the right time. They did everything they possibly could do and they completely emptied their bucket. They explored everything in them to the max. They put out an amazing last album. They never stood still, the constantly evolved right up to the end. At least once a decade they came out with a different sound. Start with the 1st album and play it all through in order and you’ll see what I mean. In 1976 I could have never in a million years imagined their music would would have evolved so drastically. Hardly any band has ever evolved the way they did. Except for the Beatles all other bands who you could say changed, just changed to poor quality uninspired music.
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE and a GREAT VIDEO..thank you very much for sharing this with us all...🤟 and now god has the professor play in his band.. R.I.P neil..

Eh, I think it's fitting that the last show was in Los Angeles-- considered the capital of show business. 3 weird kids from Canada conquered it doing it their way and overcoming tremendous adversity.
This moment in Geddy’s book had me in tears. I chose to listen to the audio version and it was a truly amazing experience listening to him tell the story.
One of the best stories about Rush I ever heard: Back in the '70s, when Rush was still an up-and-coming band starting to get serious attention, they opened for a lot of big-name acts who were doing shows on the Canadian leg of whatever tour they were on. Eventually there was a lot of word-of-mouth going around about these three local guys who were a frequent opening act who were so awesome that they were more or less proactively blowing the headliners off the stage before they stepped foot on it. So much so that a lot of bands started throwing their weight around and doing all kinds of petty shit-- i.e. turning down the volume on the speakers, denying them the chance to do a proper soundchecks-- to keep Rush from upstaging them. Apparently, one of the worst offenders was Aerosmith. Flash forward several years: Rush got huge, and were now headlining; Aerosmith hit the skids, and Joe Perry was touring with the Joe Perry Project. One night, when the JPP was opening for Rush, Geddy explicitly told his crew to treat Perry generously, and extend his people any and every courtesy.(including letting him soundcheck as much as he wanted). Later, Geddy dropped by Perry’s dressing room to ask if he was being treated well. Perry said yes, and Geddy replied “Good. Because I would never want anyone to feel the way we did when we opened for you.” **BOOOOO-YAAAAHHHH!!!** Geddy later said that Perry gave him an abject, heartfelt apology after that
Back in the mid seventies, I went to an ELO concert at the Ottawa Civic Center. Little Feet was the scheduled opening act, but they cancelled out because Lowell George had just recently died. The replacement opening act was a band we had never heard of...Rush. At least I think that's what happened, hard to tell, the seventies are all rather a blur... I only saw Aerosmith once, both they and their opening act, Prism, were so stoned/smashed, they both were booed off the stage. Of course I was no better, see above.
even watching this now I still get choked up...been a fan since 76'... this was the end of a great 40+ yr career and Neil is no longer with us ...to Misters Geddy Lee , Alex Lifeson & last and most certainly not least Neil Peart ...RIP Neil

R.I.P. Neil Peart (1952-2020)
My God I just watched this and burst out into tears by the end.
Yeah, Definitely not alone, not to mention one of my favorite songs by RUSH Love them forever
3 weeks have passed since we got news of the loss
jan 10 2020 was a dark effin day for us RUSH lovers
still hurting 😞 miss you Professor
@@MM1717mm He actually passed Jan 7th.. Was announced publicly Jan 10th.. Neil was such a private man
I'm crying. I should have been there.
It feels like a best friend passed away. This is a epic ending. We will miss you ❤
We miss you Professor!! We miss RUSH!!!
Well it is Chicago. I lived just outside Chicago, sounds pretty normal. :)
OMG, what did your sister say to you???????? Did u have to buy her a new car?
I am Canadian and grew up in Port Dalhousie,Ontario in the 70,s which is where Neil Peart grew up. Always loved Rush and they are a real class act. R.I.P Neil Peart you are missed.
We all went to The R40 tour when it hit our town...THE BEST! oh Canada:)
Thx for sharing This...A Real Gem from the Holy Triumvirate Fo Sho')-RIP The Professor!!!
man I just cried watching this...
me too. Rest in Peace Neil!
Yeah, I know, right. It kind of hits you all at once, knowing it will be the last time ever. :( RIP Neil.
At 53....this man's passing is like a slap into reality.....how could anyone not cry....can't even describe the love and respect we feel for these 3 men..... tipping my glass....👍✌️♥️.....
"I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend"
Just realized that Neil's last live performance was on a song initially recorded with John Rutsey Rush' s original drummer
Neil was the new guy anyhow.
@@danstone8783 At least they gave the new guy "a piece of the merch". From their interview with Eddie Trunk.
Eh, he played that song thousands of times and put his own spin on it.
Soul74 he was too much of a perfectionist, didn’t change a thing
Working Man is still the first hit of Rush so ending to that makes sense.... and I guess that wasn't a problem for Neil
i was there stage right 7th row 68th and last show 1st show reno 11/11/77 hemispheres tour going on 5 years still can't believe no more shows RIP Professor
Was there too that night. We did 8 shows on R40 including Tulsa opener, Lincoln, Philly, Newark, MSG, Columbus, KC and LA. We went to SARS and to the HOF induction. Been going with a pal since 82 to their shows. Great times and fans and memories. RIP Neil thank you.
I was at Pearson airport dropping off my wife as she was on her way to scotland, a guy asked me how to get to the SARS concert? He was from Florida and was there to see Rush! He didnt care about the Stones or AC/DC, just there for the band from YYZ.
@@prickyX I believe that. Thats why we drove from Illinois. Nothing against the Stones or ACDC. The crowd all day was huge and orderly. A great time. The long walk back to the car afterwards killed the legs. Well worth it. My pal and I have been going to RUSH shows since 82. He started in 78. Lots of memories indeed. Always great people up in Canada too each time we were up there.
I saw them the 30th in Irvine. Fantastic show. Who knew L.A was going to be there last show? Maybe Neil did.
He definitely did.
6:23 Neil breaks "the back line meridian". Thank you for the music Professor.
Great seats! You were part of history that night!
They ended on their terms! The way THEY wanted to go out. They earned ALL OF IT!! Thats the one thing that salves the pain of losing Neil....they did it their way and they were done....exactly the way THEY wanted to be. This should be the blue print for bands on how to finish a touring career. They will be loved from now on until forever.
Goodbye Rush,Thanks for all the incredible music!📀
I'll bet some tears flowed from both the fans and RUSH knowing rget will be performing again. It's sad but you beat the clock. Time DOESN'T stand still
My first concert ever....1981 Rush at the LA Forum...Moving Pictures tour. Been a fan ever since. Pretty damn good air drummer, too. Actually, I have a full on 7 piece drum set right here in my living room...can't play it worth a shit but sometimes I surprise myself.
Deepest love and respect for this band. Now I'm 56 I've been listening since I was 14 years old.
1/12/25 I looked this up..had smiles the whole time then got sad at the “on behalf of our whole organization” I love these guys and so happy to have seen them. Life seems so different and apart without them. Rush is the greatest ever. So sad for Neil..I hope Geddy and Alex are having a great retirement. Nothing but grateful.
The last words of the video...''The lights are going down, we love you RUSH''
You rock Kim, thank you
Alex Lifeson just absolutely RIPS
Don't put "RIPS" near Alex for awhile, too soon and I almost stop reading after the "p" in it.
Umm, I’d use “shreds” instead.
I thought he died too for a second
I've always considered him to be somewhat underrated. Maybe it's because his bandmates are often considered to be the best ever at their own instruments.
I was there.....Last Rush show ever. RIP Neil Peart - my music hero
I went to about 30 Rush shows from 1977 Farewell to Kings through this final tour .. It was a great ride 🎢 Glad this was recorded so we all see the total class act these 3 friends showed . 🤘
These guys rocked. Such a great band. And can I just say that Alex Lifeson is the most underrated guitarists of all time.
I caught the Houston leg of the tour. Die hard fan since 75' when I was a kid.
I also saw the Houston show that tour, and several others. My first time to see Rush was a Texas Jam at the Astrodome. Did you go to that one?
Wow, truly an awesome memory in time for RUSH fans. Rush changed my life for the better!! Bravo gentlemen. RIP Neil. "Some memories last forever." Rush forever!!!
After all the years, it was THIS song on the R40 tour that made me realize what a SHREDDER Lerxt is. I was like, how had I never noticed in all these years?
I miss you g guys so much! I can't believe it's been nearly 5 years.
R.I.P Neil. Farewell my King
He goes nuts! I was surprised.
True! I just loved watching Geddy too. He was all over that bass!
This performance will give me goosebumps every time I watch until the day I die.
I was there the first time they headlined Massey Hall in 75 & 2 of the 3 nights in 76 at the same venue when they recorded “All the worlds a stage”. I’m even (barely) in one of the photos included in ATWAS..3 of the best concerts I’ve attended in my 60 years & I’ve seen a lot. They most definitely should’ve played their last show in Toronto. RIP Neil
Eh, I think it's fitting that the last show was in Los Angeles-- considered the capital of show business. 3 weird kids from Canada conquered it doing it their way and overcoming tremendous adversity.
Alex , Neil and Geddy. Thank you so much for the music and the concerts and the memories! My life was better for it! R.I.P. Neil.
A Farewell to Kings xxxx. God bless Mr Peart.
Because I would never want anyone to feel the way we did when we opened for you.”
**BOOOOO-YAAAAHHHH!!!**
Geddy later said that Perry gave him an abject, heartfelt apology after that
Greg Rock,Aerosmith used to screw with Kansas too. Good story about that one in the documentary Kansas made
How petty, low, disrespectful and insecure of Aerosmith. How classy is Geddy ?
Back in the mid seventies, I went to an ELO concert at the Ottawa Civic Center. Little Feet was the scheduled opening act, but they cancelled out because Lowell George had just recently died. The replacement opening act was a band we had never heard of...Rush.
At least I think that's what happened, hard to tell, the seventies are all rather a blur...
I only saw Aerosmith once, both they and their opening act, Prism, were so stoned/smashed, they both were booed off the stage. Of course I was no better, see above.
I guess that is the difference between Canadians and Americans. The Canadians have better beer too.
even watching this now I still get choked up...been a fan since 76'... this was the end of a great 40+ yr career and Neil is no longer with us ...to Misters Geddy Lee , Alex Lifeson & last and most certainly not least Neil Peart ...RIP Neil
I was at this tour in Atlanta... But this final performance is pretty monumental... It was a great way to go out..
OMG thank you. I had 2nd row tix to this and well lets just say I was NOT able to make it, as a die hard rush fan all my life you DO NOT know the pain for having missed of all shows.... anyway. thank you
You’re welcome Gilbert! Such a shame you had to miss it! If they were 2nd row center, then I probably bought them from you on the TM resale option. What a show! ✌️
This band means a lot to people. They’ve saved people’s lives likely, or their music has.
R.I.P., Neil Peart.
I am glad you got this sacred front row experience at what turned out to be Rush’s last show ever! It’s fascinating for me to see this moment as IDENTICAL to what was captured in the documentary Time Stand Still!
Sad to think that was Neil Peart’s final exit before his unforeseen passing! 🙁 That puts the final nail on the coffin to solidify the fact that Rush are absolutely extinct now.
Yet he and the entire band went out on a high note! ❤️🤘🎸🥁 No better ending to the band than this moment.
"The lights are goin' down...
Prophetic
...We love you, RUSH!!!"
GREAT camera work Kim !
You captured a very special moment that will be cherished by your fellow Rush fans forever !
I was there, crutches and all. I was in pain, but for three hours, I forgot I had a groin pull. This video brings me to tears, thank you, Kim.
Thank you for everything ....To be continued Neil
I was there too. What a great show. I took my son, who was 16 at the time. Great memories. RIP Neil.
OMG. Thank you so much. Neil went out so fucking right. This is awesome. I love you.
WOW. Thanks for this. A more intimate view of a wonderful and now poignant moment in time. It makes me happy and sad watching this. Big sigh..
Alex knew. Look at his face when they take the initial bow with Neil. He's almost breaking. So sad.
Thanks for everything Rush.
Discovered Rush at age 13 when Tom Sawyer hit. Told myself I have got to see these guys in concert. Parents said no, years went by, albums came and went, got deployed overseas, got married, got divorced, lost jobs, no time, there was always a reason. Finally 32 years after hearing Tom Sawyer, Rush came to Summerfest in Milwaukee. I was working in Omaha and thought, "fuck it, I'm going." Got 2 tickets for me and my best friend. Greatest concert I ever saw. Haven't been to a concert since. So glad I didn't pass up the chance and so sorry to anyone that never seen them live. Rest In Peace, Neil.
I'm 53 finally went to see them in 2012. So glad I did. It was on my bucket list before I knew I had one. I've never shed a tear for someone I never met until Neil died. I think now I have some idea of how my mom felt when Elvis died
3 weeks have passed since we got news of the loss
jan 10 2020 was a dark effin day for us RUSH lovers
still hurting 😞 miss you Professor
Wow lm not a teenager anymore 59 year's old and still love the Music from the Band l grew older with Peace
Wow!! Thanks so much for posting. I didn't know if I would ever see that again. I was there, and when I saw Neil come front stage and take a bow (which I have never seen him do), I knew then, that I would never see Rush again performing live. I'm so glad my son was with me. It was his first Rush show. I saw every tour since 1975. RIP Neil :(
If you were the guys in the rear center seats in the back. We were next to you. With my friend and his son.. Rush fans are awesome people...
Man, what a great video you were able to capture. Including the great Neil Peart coming up which he never did.. great great great...
So appropriate, going out as they came in on the song that introduced them to the world!
Great to hear The Professor lend his genius to this song! A superb legacy of a great man!
Thank you for posting this. I wept. Enough said!
Just wow. What a magical moment- choking up watching it. The end of the greatest drumming shift in history. RIP, Prof.
I can pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend.. even though we never met, you were never a stranger to me.. we'll miss you greatly..
Thanks for this. I was there stage right second deck. I miss Neil.
Thank you for videoing and documenting Rush's, Neil's last performance
A friend of mine who played drums in high school back in 74 told me that "you gotta hear this drummer" he brought over the Caress of Steel album, I played it on my stereo and it blew me away..been a fan of Rush ever since. Saw them in 76. 92 and their last R40 tour and they, and Neil were as awesome as ever...I still have that album because my friend left it at my house, a couple days later he was lost in a car wreck..RIP Mike Ferguson and RIP Neil
Classiest humble men in music history
Salt of the Earth, there have never been nicer guys in the music business, and so talented and creative. I realize this is not a great recording, they have much better recordings, but..
I love this! If you asked me of all the rockers, who I'd like to have a beer or a glass of wine with, it would be these guys.
RIP
first couple of minutes i was thinking it was not very inspired, then i got chills. FUCKING GREAT!
