Wow excellent! I especially love the page with the cyan and magenta color palette (as well as the ones with facial expressions). Things that make me feel inspired: -The really well done layout/aesthetic of each page. -The fact you used so many mediums to explore is motivating for me. That colored pencil page with those deep blues in the hair! Noice. -Seeing that midpoint where you didn’t quite have the feeling to finish the sketches, but you did anyway (great professional skill to have). -Seeing how each head you drew was like you were honoring each reference instead of rushing just to get it done. -That this is a follow up to having done the challenge before years ago, and committing to completion. -Seeing that the challenge is a cool opportunity to witness and showcase where your skills/intuition are at, without thinking about what you need to draw since all the reference is prepared on your own Pinterest board. -Seeing how creative you are with your color choices, like the neon highlighter effect really frames the drawings nicely. You mentioned that the skill level of portraiture fees the same as compared to before, but as you mentioned you knocked it out the park especially with watercolor skills, layout, color etc. Bravo! Incredible work, thank you for doing this and sharing it with all of us! I just might do another challenge 🤔
100 animals challenge, 100 hands challenge, 100 whatever you don't feel as confident at...challenge. I really admire you for having completed it. I saw some other similar videos...and I don't know how you do it... and all the portraits are great!!!! How?!
I’m gonna do this challenge in june and it was so helpful! Had to watch it immediately as it hit my subscription box ☺️ you did incredibly well! Love all the spreads and thanks for the helpful tipps!
I made my own board too. I did a terrible job with diversity of age, but I did try to do a variety of gender (I heavily lean towards drawing women). For me, the time limit is important to me because I want to learn to draw heads faster while still achieving likeness. I just completed day 2 and I average about 12-15 minutes per head. Hoping I can improve my times by the end of the challenge!
this is a great challenge to fill your sketchbook especially if you stick with portraits in your own work. Its something that really motivates me to keep drawing in my sketchbook and makes my sketchbook look that much neater.
been wanting to do this challenge and this gave me alot of insight on how it might work, so thanks for that!!! also, would love to see more of your gouache process because I adore the way you use gouache! just a suggestion of course, don't feel forced to do it but I'd love more gouache videos from you!
I'm doing the original challenge now but I'm not doing it in 10 days (I have a full time job and a kid, there's no way it's getting done in 10 days anyway). I'm 80% done and even though I thought I was pretty good at portraits before, I've seen VAST improvement in not only quality, but also in speed. Also I've been doing several of them in watercolor so that has improved as well. Also it's funny because those sculptures were some of my favorites to draw and those are the ones that leveled me up. That being said, I do like that your board has more Black men (there's only, like, 2 on the original board) than the first board, so I will 100% use some of your board's references as further practice.
You improved so much! It really shows in your line work and how confident your strokes are be that sketching or outlining. Also, the complexity and spreads are absolutely beautiful! Lastly, I do want to say that the subjects from the first 100 challenge are very diverse from how challenging to features of people. And u did a great job with the challenging pieces such as statues and like more mythical ancient figures. This time around perhaps you didn’t feel as challenged? I know sometimes when I work on projects from freelancing and I didn’t stress or get upset… I feel like I didn’t do a good job, despite everything turning out okay, idk if u relate in a way to that. Amazing job!
i do relate to that a bit! i sometimes feel if i didn't struggle, i didn't learn. but i'm definitely glad i kept out the strange statue heads as that really wasn't what i wanted to work on!! maybe next time!
I LITERALLY JUST PUT YOUR FIRST 100HEADSCHALLENGE VIDEO IN MY WATCH LATER LIST NOT EVEN FIVE MINUTES AGOOOO. And i thought to myself "I wonder if she'd ever do this incredibly difficult challenge again just because....this is amazing🙆🏾♀️
I really feel like doing this challenge and putting the element of stylization, I have a little plan: 1 small page for each drawing list os features I see in the person skeleton version with basic shapes "realistic" version then stylized version!! as they're way more drawings, I'd like to take time to study each face. I really want to be able to diversify my art even more and I think that'll help!
Always keep in mind your reason for taking on this challenge. the point is to learn through repetition AKA level grinding. if you are advanced, its your chance to work on things like composition, simplification, improvisation, etc, etc. This challenge is also the perfect remedy for "Same face syndrome" since most of the time people tend to draw smooth faced young models, forgetting that other ethnicities and ages exist. also have fun and dont hurt yourself.
Ahh this was so amazing Al, you’re so skilled.. The dedication was really inspiring.🙌🏾 I’d love to try this out, although my skills are rusty 😂. The graphite, ballpoint pen, and colored liners were some of my favorites, though all were good imo!
Hey, I love the way that you rendered your heads, especially the watercolor and ink pages. Is there anyway you could do a video about how you tackle that?
I watched this and then watched the first one and I think more than improving with portraits, you’ve improved as an artist. Beyond the cohesion within each day this time, you made each individual portrait it’s own piece. I don’t know how to explain it perfectly, but the first video felt like the portraits were the rough sketches you do when you haven’t practiced in a while and need to get the first time back out of your system. This time it felt like you had already dusted off the cobwebs. I hope that made sense. Either way, I loved this and it inspired me so much!
Wow this is so inspiring. Love the different mediums and the varying spreads. Your tips are so appreciated, and I love that you used your own board. I've been wanting to do this challenge, but with musician portraits instead of the original board. Thank you for encouraging making it your own and taking your time to avoid burnout!
THE RANGE . Oh my God 🙈🌷 your talent. Your art. I'm literally so jealous. Inspired me to start practicing more and adding more color to my art (mostly portraits and figure) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Seeing all the different mediums and spreads is nice and a great way to keep things fresh. If I were to ever do this challenge I think I would approach it the same way u did
You are SO SO talented! The tour of your sketchbook for this challenge in the end was amazing -each spread has so much energy! You have inspired me to start a sketchbook after seeing this :)
I think you have improved a lot. Your old video was awesome but they were mainly sketches, now you're exploring different mediums and COLOR which is a totally different ball game. Your heads now feel like finished pieces. Also you have improved you video making skills as well not just your drawing abilities.
I'm a little hypoglycaemic but I kind of shouted holy f££k at the first few seconds because that casual marker collection is like starting your video in a Lamborghini but for the art world gat dayamn
I am so in love with this challenge! Your commentary on doing it again has convinced me I HAVE to do this when school ends. I really want to improve my portraiture and I am so inspired. 💙
Just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE your videos and art! I have been rewatching all of them lately bc they are so inspiring to me and this is a video that I'm definitely will be coming back on the future for the tips and inspo. Thanks for the absolutely incredible content
Your new art space looks fantastic!! And your sketches/illustrations are spectacular - I hope to be even half as good as you one day! And I love the references you chose and how you varied your mediums for each day. I'm hoping to do this challenge at some point, so I really appreciate your advice. I think my favorite and least favorite (if I absolutely had to pick a "least" favorite 😅) would match your picks.
Your skill level was great in the first challenge, but is vastly more advanced and enviable in the 2 nd go- round. Agree that choosing heads you enjoy adds to the success-- some of the original references are a hard sell for me. You're phenomenal at your portrayal skills.
100 hands in 7 days is another one that ive done like this. Not sure who started it but ive done it a few times and I definitely see progress each time!
this inspired me to complete the challenge that I started in... September last year 😅 I made it up to about 90 heads and then bought myself an iPad and completely neglected my sketchbook and drawing traditionally... until now! this really inspires me to go back to experimenting with lots of different mediums as well! great video!
I really want to do this but with animals! Im training to work with animals and going to uni in the september for wildlife conservation so i really want to improve my skills for painting these animals so as you said i want to cater this to what i want to improve on even if it is a tad far from humans ahah, thankyou!!
i have a funny story with this challenge bc the first time i heard of it and wanted to try it i didn't know you had to complete them in 10 days and so it took me a reeeeeaaaaally long time to complete them. i honestly don't even know if i could do it in such little time but your video really inspired me to try it with other mediums ✨
You know when you have that one specific artist that you watch all the time and get so excited when they upload and really hope that one day their channel will blow up and get a bigger audience (a nice one hopefully haha) so more people get to see their amazing content and all the work and skill they put into it? Yeah you're like that for me :) Congrats on getting through the challenge, these look amazing!! Keep up the great work your content is incredible and so inspiring :)
With this challenge it’s really a hit or miss sometimes. The first time I did it I completed it all in 9 days and I enjoyed every minute, the second time is took me 2 weeks and I didn’t do the last 8 or so, so if the first time you don’t enjoy revisit it maybe and if you don’t feel the motivation that doesn’t mean you are unmotivated or a failure, I got a lot out of both times I did it and I consider both a success, so don’t be so hard on yourself
This is more than inspiring no 2 heads are the same it is limitless, dont know if I'm ready for this but it really is enticing, you are a great artist and your personality rocks ❤
My biggest problem with Ahmed’s Pinterest board was that there were no old women. Wrinkles and grey hair are normal and beautiful and I wanted to draw them too. So I swapped out some of his beautiful young women for some beautiful older women
Okay, I saw this video first and when you said you actually liked some of your old drawings better I had to go check the other video. I disagree SO HARD with that statement. I think the old faces are very good. But checking out your process, the improvement is definitely MASSIVE. In the old video you are kind of finding your way through it, and it works in the end because you ARE simply a great drawer, but when there's a system and a logic in place to draw something like a face, it flows so much more natutally, and it's evidenced when you mentioned that you actually enjoyed more this time around. Also, I noticed in the old video you weren't too strict on finding a likeness, which is totally fine if that was your intention, but drawing isn't really about drawing, paradoxically, it's about seeing. And your "seeing" skills on this one are massively different and better. You captured the likeness immediately and still had a style vibe going on (cause perfect photographic reproductions are boring). So anyway I felt compelled to write this because I had to scream you have gotten so much better and I'm in awe of your skills and it's just so inspiring to see someone who was already great at drawing faces, to challenge themselves into becoming even better, because we can't imagine how that would be possible, but when we remember there's no destination and there's only improvement if we decide to surpass those limitations, then we can get to places we never could have imagined. You remind me of that cause it's genuinely hard. And also because while being on route to a destination it's hard to recognize our improvement, and it's easy to get emotionally attached to our old art. But agh. I'm here to protest very strongly about that statement, that is all 😂. Please forgive my english, it's not my first language 😊
I am living for this video, I enjoyyyyyy!!!! There is a huge difference from 1st 100 heads and now second round I am seeing great and impressive 🔥🔥🔥 work beyond. I enjoyed this video without looking away because normally makes me want to grab the pencil to sketch too but I don't want to be interrupted because this video is inspirational a lot thank you for coming again with this challenge. Your mediums you make them delicious.... Ooohhh Looooord sweeeeeet!
I am currently on head 72 after just doing as many as I can on days I remember to for the past 2-3 weeks and it's going okay but I realised that sometimes I was rushing them instead of focusing just because I wanted to get stuff done. I have decided I'm going to take the last few very slowly and try to get good details in and work on likeness as that is something I struggle with a lot.
Love this! Do you have any videos showing your process for doing the pencil sketch for portraits? I'm trying to improve my portrait skills but I'm struggling to get all the features in the right place!
I'm about to start the challenge so i can learn digital art, I'm really struggling with colours in digital art which i dont have to worry about in traditional cause i just use black and white in traditional, a sort of comic style with hatching and cross hatching, y'know. Im doing research first though so i can get the most out of the challenge.
This is amazing and totally inspired me to start the challenge! Really love your art style and admire your understanding of colour and composition. Can't wait to start now hehe :>
I actually finished this challenge too recently and I was so impressed with myself!!! Does anyone know a challenge like this one? I’ve never drawn so much before and I want that spark back! 😭😭😭
you can make one for urself ,depends on what u feel like drawing or what u feel like u need to improve ur skills with ,you can do 100 hands as an example or using specific mediums that you wanna improve ur skills with
I am so entranced by your portrait game, it's so strong and I hope I can achieve that level of facial understanding (is that a term? Now it is) someday! What are these paint markers called that you used?
Nicely done as always!!! Maybe look into doing animals or backgrounds. If you want/need hand practice (who doesn't!) maybe illustrate some ASL words/phrases. Now me personally, I want to do 100 nudibranches. I am obsessed with Nudibranches. They are like colorful, little aliens that live in the ocean. They are endlessly fascinating to me. If you're ever looking for color ideas 10/10 would recommend.
Hey Al I absolutely enjoyed this video sm and enjoyed you talking about the process and giving us tips as well as the art. You are amazing and they came out so good ahhh 🥰. Definitely going to try this out. p.s. do you use anything to seal your drawings?
i think i might have the same dont want to draw the same thing again thing. like where there is something i dont know how to draw, i feel like i need a practice run to pratice it before i try to do a nice version. but by that time im tired of the topic. i end up trying to perfect the pratice run and get lost in that. and then dont end up doing the thing i had in mind.
loved watching you and hear how you felt about it, I'm currently also repeating this challenge so that was really interesting for me. If youre looking for a similar challenge, I'm pretty sure Ahmed Aldoori also made a challenge with chickens 🤣
Every time I watch one of these videos I consider starting the challenge.... But then I remember that I should probably start with getting out of bed and brushing my teeth every single day for 10 days :')
What would you recommend if you're not confident in your portraiture skills like it all cuz I would really really love to do this challenge but I have a way more cartoony style also I love your videos 🌞
If you’re looking to refine your style, you could totally do the challenge in your style!! But, if you want to work more on realism, i’d suggest just using graphite! Start off very simple, then throughout the 100 you could progress to more detail!
im doing this same challenge!! im on 46 heads right now because im not doing 100 in 10 days im just drawing them as I feel inspired to but its really fun. thanks for more inspo your art never ceases to amaze me!! also, what were the coloured liners you used?
Wow excellent! I especially love the page with the cyan and magenta color palette (as well as the ones with facial expressions).
Things that make me feel inspired:
-The really well done layout/aesthetic of each page.
Thank you so much Ahmed! Your feedback is so so wonderful to hear! I had such a great time doing the challenge, even when it got a little hard!!
I'm in the process of completing this challenge! Now I'm on the head №48. I draw 4 heads every day because it's so much easier for me
oooh four seems like a really good balance!!! good luck!!

1 small page for each drawing
list os features I see in the person
skeleton version with basic shapes
"realistic" version
then stylized version!!
as they're way more drawings, I'd like to take time to study each face. I really want to be able to diversify my art even more and I think that'll help!
I’m in the middle of this challenge. I find it super helpful but also very difficult to follow through on. Thanks for the motivation!!

That dog is the cutestttt
This is amazing and totally inspired me to start the challenge! Really love your art style and admire your understanding of colour and composition. Can't wait to start now hehe :>
I loved doing the 100s challenge. I’ve thought about doing it again
I actually finished this challenge too recently and I was so impressed with myself!!! Does anyone know a challenge like this one? I’ve never drawn so much before and I want that spark back! 😭😭😭
you can make one for urself ,depends on what u feel like drawing or what u feel like u need to improve ur skills with ,you can do 100 hands as an example or using specific mediums that you wanna improve ur skills with
Hi! Amazing drawings! May I ask where you got your bracelet from? The orange pink and yellow one?
I was scrolling up and only saw the title and not tue thumbnail and i laughed si hard
The way I clicked this lol great video. And in a great moment too, I've been asking myself if it's worthy to repeat the challenge this year
The heads are fabulous. Check out Bridgman 4 lines to get the proportions of any human head
I am so entranced by your portrait game, it's so strong and I hope I can achieve that level of facial understanding (is that a term? Now it is) someday! What are these paint markers called that you used?
I loved the last video you did on this, but I think I like this one more💗💗😁😁🖌🖌
Nicely done as always!!!
Hands and feet are definitely options!! And nudibranches look SO COOL
me falling into the med's 7 heads trap yet again
I got so inspired by this, I feel like I want to do it now
It's all so beautiful, incredible level of skill.
Alice in Wonderland is that you?? hahahavery nice video
Well done for doing this again xx
loved watching you and hear how you felt about it, I'm currently also repeating this challenge so that was really interesting for me. If youre looking for a similar challenge, I'm pretty sure Ahmed Aldoori also made a challenge with chickens 🤣
i do love me some chickens...
How can you draw these faces so well, and make keep them looking similar? Would you consider making a tutorial on how to draw likeness?
wow.. so much work! Love your heads, you have a great skill! I enjoyed watching. Thanks for sharing. xxx Xoonani
Every time I watch one of these videos I consider starting the challenge.... But then I remember that I should probably start with getting out of bed and brushing my teeth every single day for 10 days :')
I would like to do this but with buildings and mehcanical things becuase i suck at architecture
What kind of paper or sketchbook is this? Lovely work!
That's gorgeous! would love to try it too but I'll barely have time for this haha
Who does your thumbnails? They're amazing !
What would you recommend if you're not confident in your portraiture skills like it all cuz I would really really love to do this challenge but I have a way more cartoony style also I love your videos 🌞
Your art never fails to make me smile and gives me so much inspiration 😊
If you’re looking to refine your style, you could totally do the challenge in your style!! But, if you want to work more on realism, i’d suggest just using graphite! Start off very simple, then throughout the 100 you could progress to more detail!
you do AMAZING work!!
I know I've used Pinterest too much now for the sole reason that I recognize a lot of these reference photos...
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
im doing this same challenge!! im on 46 heads right now because im not doing 100 in 10 days im just drawing them as I feel inspired to but its really fun. thanks for more inspo your art never ceases to amaze me!! also, what were the coloured liners you used?
I used the arteza liners!!
Flex lilstarnerd. Flex, baby. ❤
What sketchbook do u use!? I love ur art so much omg!!
That‘s my question too. Which sketchbook paper tolerates all those different mediums?
Maybe sometimes we get art dysphoria like we can’t accurately see improvement in our own work how we can see improvement in others
Your alcohol markers and gouache painting kick a...
I really enjoyed this video
11:19 🤌
How talented are you?!
This head Challenge is so good 👍 and I am your new Friend ❤️ | Qui 👑
I cant believe im this early
I've given the thought of trying out this challenge

You know what I mean?
Love it !
This is so perfect!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩👌🏽
How about a shoe challenge. 5 shoes a day, dfferent types of shoes every week.
