Hello Emily I just wanted to say how helpful your videos are! You inspired me to try out gouache paints as I’m only a oil painter. I also wanted to say that you should do what ever you want to do and say what ever you want to say in your videos without worrying about the people watching because we’re here for you
You inspire me so much and especially this challenge and have helped me so much with my portrait gouache paintings, which is really the only kind of like to make. Thank you so much, especially for going bold with your choices on portraits that I would usually be worried I couldn't create
I love the mood you set to your videos! It'd be nice to get to know you better! Your favorite art books, favorite artists, even what inspires you... Great video as always!
It's so soothing watching you paint, Emily, everything ends up looking gorgeous :') it's been months since I last used my gouaches bc I've been very busy but you inspire me to take those brushes and start again (watch me fail miserably but that's how it goes hehe). Oh, and even if you couldn't finish the challenge for whatever reasons it won't take away any credit for the portraits you have already done, they are incredible! But I hope you get the time to do so, I can tell you really enjoy it! Lots of hugs from Spain! ❤
Aw thank you so much ❤️ Always lovely seeing a comment from you pop up! I hope you have a good time with your gouache. Sending hugs back from Canada! :-)
Your heads turned out so nice, I love the painterly look of them! I really enjoy the longer length of the video, and I think it's fun seeing you build and do things around your studio! Thanks for sharing your work, i'm already looking forward to the next one!
I did finish something similar (just filling an 80 page sketchbook with portraits, but only pencil/graphite, no color) and it really is a challenge to keep the inner critic and perfectionist satisfied! The transparent colors in that first portrait actually create a really beautiful effect
Omg is the future video you’re talking about the little air dry clay Bulbasaur? (if so that’s awesome) I also have the exact same wooden desk organizer and coincidentally i’ve also been playing with air dry clay and putting my little desk friends around it. Im a new fan and you’ve inspired me to perhaps try studio vlogging while in college 💗
It's not about the Bulbasaur, but that is a good guess!! (that little guy was a gift from a friend) 💗 I hope you get the chance to do some studio vlogs in college, that would be so fun! 😊
Great video! Looking forward to your 100 heads sketchbook tour!! I don’t understand threads. I follow everyone I follow on IG and it seems to be artists posting the same paintings there to lol.
Thanks so much! ❤️ I understand what you mean about Threads. I am definitely guilty of cross-posting from Instagram, mostly because I haven't figured out what to post there yet! 😅
really nice paintings! i love how you do the block-y brush strokes to make the shadows and emphasis the shapes etc. i also prefer painting with a flat brush too.
i havent gotten threads bc ive heard the privacy policy is absolutely abysmal, which makes sense given its ~meta~. i really loved seeing the wide range of colors in the last portrait, and i love the use of purples and bright pinkish colors in your portraits in general ! its just enough to really make them pop and give them a lot more dimension 🖤
I enjoy your videos so much! ♥ I would love to see when you mix the colors and grab them from the palette in the shot, at least for a little while :) I think it would be so interesting!
Watching the fourth one come to life was honestly magic! You really did a great job at trying different styles and tones in this video, definitely felt a renewed sense of artistic confidence from you in this video. ❤
Thank you so much! I do feel like I am finally "letting go" a little bit in this challenge, I feel much more open to experiment with style and paint application. Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
I love your videos. I look at it but just can't understand how such a portrait is created from the individual steps. My head is confused. but I will practice ✨❤️
Hi Emily! I just found your channel and love your voice and calm teaching method! Very mellow and I love listening to you talk. As an oil landscape artist, your exploration of portrait techniques is definitely helping me. Thank you!! ❤
Great portraits! I’m sure it varies for each, but on average how long are you spending on each one? I’ve been wanting to do a similar challenge for myself, but feel like I need to put some sort of time constraints to not just keep on one for the whole session!
Hello Emily. I admire your drawing skill !! Really enjoying your Gouache paintings. I'm not a social media guy, but, I decided to check out your instagram link to see what's there., anyway :o)
Great tip that I recognized, when struggling get a larger brush. This way you’re not so focused on details too soon
Thats such good advice! Im going to try that!
PS I’d love to see a video of your favorite art books!
This is a video I have been wanting make!! Hopefully soon ❤️
