DK mountain barrels sometimes contain bananas, so "trapping" the shortcut may have been your own doing by shrooming through the barrel on the prior lap
When I was trying to bag on Mario Circuit 3 earlier today, it actually worked really well for me. The only things you have to do differently is: 1. Never fully stop/slow on boxes. Prepare to slow down ahead of time 2. Grind coins in whatever position you may be in, you’ll fall behind pretty quickly and increases your odds of pulling a stronger item

That's true, bagging being worse = speed stat is also worse. But I don't know how much worse bagging is yet, so I'll make that decision after I try some more bagging!
@@Shortcat321 as far as I know, you can sorta bag, but not as the way it normally is. You are gonna have to not get the item box at all until enough people past you just so you can get the items you would normally get for where you at. Like the first time you get the box, it's normal, the 2nd time you get a box from the line at all, you can get a single banana with a very high chance of getting it and lowered chances of the usual items for your placement.

Hey Shortcat! There is a accually a small shortcut on Madrid Drive in the crowd next to the wiggler. There is a small gap between the crowd that you can drive through! I havent seen anyone talk about it so i thought i would tell you! Keep up the great vids!

shortcat, you can double hoop jump through the middle on wii rainbow road. It's a shortcut and it's faster. You can do it shroomless if you get a trick off of the dash pad at the end of the wavy section and hold up on the stick.
The bagging nerf is for cheeseland (and tracks like it) because as you know the bullet bill extension is great and players choose to sit at the first set for a bullet

Hey Shortcat, while playing with my friends, I figured that with a yellow mini-turbo, you can do the final shortcut shroomless on Rosalina Iceway. It's kinda though tho and I'm not sure it's actually faster if you go shroomless haha
As far as i can tell, the bagging nerf isn't too bad. You cannot cycle for items at a single item set anymore, you have to move on to the next set. "let me bag real quick because i just git hit" got a lot harder because you have to make do with the items you roll first. (This might also means that a bagging track depends on item set placements.) If you want to bag, you have to commit. So You can still very much hard bag in cheese land.
From my experience to make non meta builds viable, you have to go out of your way to grab coins. It makes the fast characters outstrip everyone else without items and allows slow characters to keep up with the pack
On daisy’s track, I‘m pretty sure you can throw the bomb against the wooden piranha plant in the shortcut to break it. It‘ll break it from the impact and not explode so you can drive through without needing to bonk. I‘ve done that on another track.

Yo, i recently did a bagging only challenge of my own for the memes (and content obviously) and i’d love to rechallenge myself after the wave 6 changes as well! would love to see how you do compared to me ;) I definitely agree with your point on the way bagging makes the game look a lot less enjoyable for your average player, the public perception isn’t always great on the topic of bagging. While i never really had an issue per say with bagging i didn’t really feel disappointed after the new changes because i knew it was meant to happen 😂
You use a visual cue to help you dodge the blue? Cool! That makes me curious what other people use to help them dodge. I actually rely at least as much on the audio in MK8D. Also, I'm excited for you bagging video! Should be fun and fascinating!
For the shortcut on rainbow road wii at the half pipe, I personally just go to the side like you but stay on the blue section and trick off approximately perpendicular to the road. It gives you a mushroom boost and is very consistent but probably slightly slower than yours when you do it poperly. Also for bagging, if you wait very very long at the start of a track the first item set might give you useless items.
for daisy circuit i think they put the pirana plant there solely bc on wii it was just objectively faster to go through the offroad rather than even just going around
I'm so used to trying to judge whether a track is gonna be a bagger or runner when waves used to come out but it doesn't even matter anymore with wave 6 💀 well not as much at least. Also that is a very good combo, super heavies on scooty is usually decent. Lookin forward to the wave 6 content 🔥

imo bagging is only slightly weaker. the old strat of sitting on top of an item set for 10 straight seconds isn't going to be as lucrative since you're only going to roll 2 items max, as opposed to the typical 3 or 4, meaning fewer chances to pull shock or bill specifically. frontrunning yoshi circuit might be a little stronger as a result, but i haven't gotten to play on it online yet
To the new ice skate map where you used a mushroom i fpund a way without a mushroom that actually might be viable. 1: makes sure you're in the middle even before you enter the ice part 2: drift right up to the snow (not on the snow with an orange mini turbo) 3: in the air let go of r and get the miniturbo boost. I got pretty optimal lines without going on the snow at the top
Would really be nice to see you make a Video on all the 150cc staff ghosts and you beating them. There are not much Videos with good commentary on them on this topic.
Hey shortcat. Do you know if there are any new bullet extensions? Ive learned a bunch of them and now that multiplayer only choses 6th wave tracks I dont know when to use my bullet bill while bagging. Also, you're ALMOST on 200k, good job!
I've not tested this at all, so take this with a grain of salt, but it feels like your item pulls when you get knocked back into a last position are worse now. I've had 3 races where I was combo-ed from 1st-3 down to 12th, and my item pull from the item box I hit after being knocked back every time was 2 single mushrooms. Feels like that might be part of their anti-bagging measure, and if it is, that could really suck, because all three races that happened to me, it was a real struggle to get back to a top spot when the people who were naively in last were getting stars, bullets, and goldens and I had two single mushrooms. I could see something like that existing though, to watch for players "slowing down" for items. I don't know though, could just be I had a run of some real bad luck.

One thing about the bagging nerf is that last place is intrinsically supposed to get great items to let worse players catch up. They can't nerf it too hard or it stops being fun for some because they just get outskilled and can't get a good placement. So i think the nerf was about as good as possible without truly completely reworking how mk8 deluxe is balanced.

According to patch notes the only changes to parts/characters was in their invulnerability time, so really nothings changed.

I know a way to still bag and get good items: stay in the back but dont go in reverse or stand still in a item box so you trick the game
Also i found a bill extension on 3ds rosalinas ice world, right when you enter the cave part its maybe not a extension but it is a good bill spot
