    Take your shot with it's head up. Deer use their necks to jump a shot, if the head is down they get a better jump. Head up they don't move as much

    I've never had a deer react to my bow. I've had them see me, then react to the sound. If the deer isn't alert, you are golden. Also just shoot when the head is up. If there head is down, they are in a sprinters position.

    Good advice, for guys coming to afrika, you need to practice to shoot more forward... Our plains game vitals sit more forward in the body than a deer... Shoot low and right behind the shoulder

    I assume the ranger your shooting a deer at means this won't be a factor. But that advice might also help when shooting from an elevated position. When shooting from the high ground it changes the point of impact. Meaning you should change your point of aim to correct for it.

    Good advice but I think that shot is 2” low aim there you risk hitting it in the brisket which I guess isn’t worse case scenario because it would have a solid chance of living but I would like to see it just a touch higher at least with a two blade broadhead

    Heart shot

  • @alexmanion5389
    @alexmanion5389 ปีที่แล้ว

    Straight up the leg puts you a little closer to the center of the killzone. I've seen deer drop, but I've also seen them drop and turn. And that turn sucks a lot of energy out of your arrow. I go straight up the leg right on the lower 1/3 line. This is still far better advice than most. Seeing all these high lung shots makes me cringe. I like my venison too much to be shooting that high. Lol

    I aim 3 “ above where you hit. Never had a deer duck . Of course, in 30 years,90% of my shots have been under 20 yards with many coming at the 12-15 yard mark. And trust me , 30 years ago bows were not nearly as quiet. This has been my experience. I guess it depends on how you set up

    • @edwardglubin4354
      @edwardglubin4354 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve found 30-50 yards is like the Goldilocks zone for a string ducking the string, but I agree at twenty put that pin right on the pump house and give ‘em some carbon. I’ve got a lot of respect for guys like you and my old man who taught me how to hunt (he’s been in the game for about 40 years) you guys bow hunted before it was the cool thing to do, there’s alot my generation of hunters can learn now from TH-cam and forums but you old timers taught yourselves through trial and error.

  • @Espostevo

    The deer doesn't react to the sound of the bow when you aim lower 3rd? How does that make any sense ?

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Deer do likely react, but by aiming at the bottom third of the vitals, if the deer drop the shot is still likely hitting the vitals.
