  • I saw this car a few months back at an event and knew we had to shoot it. It's simple, classy and sounds great with some really cool custom touches and the whole car was built by a father and son team with some exceptional welding and fabricating.
    Sit back and enjoy...

The twin turbo 300z come out when I was just reaching driving age, and it is still a car I'd love to own. I'm a muscle car guy all the way. I own a few Mustangs. Beautifully done! It just drives me crazy when people rebrand the 240z to the Fairlady Z. Mr. K the visionary and legend behind the 240z would be rolling over in his grave! He fought Nissan corporate tooth and nail over the Fairlady name. In fact! The first batch of 240z’s that was delivered to the states arrived with the Fairlady badging. Mr. K personally went car to car and replaced the fairlady badging with the iconic 240z badging. Who wants a car named after the play My Fair Lady? Mr. K had it right.
Beautifully done! People can name their car whatever they want. I just thought a little history around the name was just.

      @@scottlasater4658 - 1972 Fairlady 240Z-G
      - source : usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/datsun-and-nissan-fairlady-z-heritage1972 Fairlady 240Z-G
The Fairlady Z was developed as the successor to the Fairlady 2000 (SR311). In late November 1969, the S30 (first-generation model) was launched (announcement: October 18). At first, only a 2,000cc model was available, but two years later, in November 1971, the 240Z was launched in Japan (announcement: October 20), powered by a 2,400cc engine.
With the adoption of a closed body design, the Fairlady Z was able to offer much improved comfort and safety. And thanks to the high-performance engine and 4-wheel independent suspension, it gained a strong following in overseas markets. As a sports car, it was a rare best seller: the total number of models produced for the whole series topped 1 million units.
The engine for the 240Z was the powerful L24 (2,393cc, 150PS) used in the models exported to North America. There were 3 grades available: the 240Z (1.15 million yen), the 240Z-L (1.35 million yen), and the 240Z-G (1.5 million yen). The top of the line 240ZG - with its long nose, over-fenders and rear spoiler - was the fastest Japanese car, boasting a top speed of 210km/h.

When he said “first video of the new year” he had no idea how crappy 2020 was going to be. That aside, that kid and his dad built a PHENOMENAL Z -car! He better hang on to it. It sounds like he has a great relationship with his father but as the years pass he will realize more and more how special the experience of working on this project with his father was. As an old guy myself, I know he would kick himself over and over down the road if he ever let that great car go.🧨

Gives me motivation to start working on my 71 240z rust bucket.. only mine came with an L28 🤔 just need to hunt down a 5 speed. I do have the original 4 speed i could always use for now until i find a 280 5 speed trans..

I spent 20 years with them... a '70, 2 '71s, a '72 , and a '73. My last one came as an old autocross '71 with an L28, T5 5-speed, a 3.90:1 R200 rear end, Eibachs all around, an 16" X 7" wheels. With that rear end it came off the line like it had a small block in it. The only problem was that the speedo was about 20 mph off due to the diff change and you had to be careful. It cost me a ticket late one night. Great memories!!

Great build! Talented guys! That’s cool what you said about the “down to earth builds”. I love cars and altough I have a tuned Corvette C6 Z06 and a new 911 Carrera T, I would never ever have money to build those $ 500K restomods. I mean, I love and admire them, but can’t have them! But I can have the down to earth stuff and those can be inspired and have some elements or even parts of those Sema Show quality builds! So that’s all good! 🤗

Love this build! I'm glad he saved that Datsun 240Z!
I was gonna diss the bags but since they are japanese as well and they make it have the perfect stance/ride height... 10 out of 10 for me!
    Happy New Year everybody!
