Richard manages to put such a clarity and beyondness of emotion into his songs. sure there are more upbeat and crazy ones as there are entirely different ones but the way you interpret it makes all the difference. not saying they have no moods but I think they can be interpreted differently, every time.

Back in April when I uploaded my "Dead!" piano cover, I spent a paragraph or so talking about how it was the very first cover I'd made that didn't originate from a game and/or wasn't made for some special occasion, simply being done because I loved the song. This is now the second such instance of that kind of cover. I doubt many of you will be familiar with this song; as unfortunate as it is, the song seems to be rather obscure. with "Windowlicker" being Aphex Twin's most famous work. After listening to this cover, I highly recommend you go and listen to the original song, as well as some of Aphex Twin's other songs like Rhubarb and Stone in Focus. There's just something... _special_ about his music, something about it that takes you to a whole nother world of feelings and emotions, something deeply personal and intimate that resonates within the very depths of your soul, something that quietly reassures you that everything will be okay. This track in particular is the best example of that, at least for me. I can't begin to describe all the hard times that Alberto Balsalm has helped me through, the homework assignments and projects it's helped me focus on and complete, the sadness and anxiety that it's washed away. And as if that wasn't enough, it's also the single most effective method of falling asleep that I know of; if I close my eyes while listening to this song, I'll be out in a matter of minutes. It's without a doubt one of my favorite songs of all time, and if any of you have recommendations for other music that gives you a similar feeling, please let me know. As for the cover itself: this is probably the longest I've ever worked on a cover in one single session. While I did take breaks to let the camera battery charge and such, from start to finish I spent at least four hours at the piano, going through take after take after take to get it right. I suppose a large part of that can be chalked up to the fact that this cover employs a method that I've never tried before; playing the actual song on my phone as I'm playing it on piano. I did this because the percussion in Alberto Balsalm is pretty much 99% of the reason it's so soothing and beautiful to me, and if I just played the melody on piano by itself, it wouldn't sound right. I think it turned out rather well, but let me know what you think, because I do plan to use this technique for one more track in the future. Oh yeah, make sure to check out Reid Willer's piano cover of this same song here (th-cam.com/video/wydRPBDvxs8/w-d-xo.html). It's better than mine and it's what inspired me to make this cover in the first place; before watching it I'd assumed that this song was simply impossible on piano, but he proved me oh-so-wrong.
Xiao Andy If you want something that gives you that same feeling, the closest thing I can recommend is BT - This Binary Universe (the whole heckin' album). I don't know if you could exactly cover it on piano, since I'd call it more of an electronic masterpiece and some of those sounds you just can't emulate on a piano. But it's definitely worth checking out, and it's easily my favourite album of all time. Now time to move on from gushing to more gushing. This cover is fantastic, it's played on piano so perfectly, and i'm in heaven
Questions I'll probably get asked: why did you wait for 7 seconds before starting the cover? Answer: The original track has a 7 second introduction of "bubbly" noises. Unfortunately, they were too quiet for the camera to pick up on, so I just kinda sit there. Why did you suddenly stop at 3:27? Answer: That part of Alberto Balsalm is percussion-only, with no melody playing, so I just decided to let the song play by itself without interruptions. I probably could've let go less abruptly so it sounded nicer, but oh well. What you played doesn't match up exactly with the sheet music, why is that? Answer: if you listen to Reid Willis' cover, you'll notice it's shorter and doesn't fit the actual song perfectly, most notably leaving out the percussion-only part. If you're interested in seeing my modified sheet music, just ask.
His best track, and this cover is a wonderful rendition. I think it would be perfect to mash it up with Mellow D's "Falling2", the two melodic lines share some affinities yet in different harmonic texture
