Pretty much everything sounds good when transcribed for Piano. I've been listening to Christopher O'Rileys Radiohead covers for years, they are incredible.
Discovering Alberto Balsalm as a young (17~) y.o. fella was one of few the best things that ever happened in my life. Been 13 years now, it helped me figuring out myself, somehow.
Many a day I would sit and just ponder the mystery of sadness and abject loneliness that can happen in life. In this song I felt like there’s a bitter sweet hope for connection, for warm compassion despite the hard and abrasive truths that black out days, months, and years. Coming to be at peace with it all is something I didn’t really believe was possible, until now - in my thirties.
I discovered aphex twins music 2 years ago in lockdown. I’m 18 now and his music will always be connected to me and my mate skating, and building dens in the Forrest.
Try giving learning things by ear a shot, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what you can accomplish that way, and it's a great way to improve your musicality as a whole :)
@@judah142 but also cheat where you can when you can see what notes they're playing. Lmao. It's still tedious at the end of the day so it's not so much a cheat as doing either method so often that you start to feel out the timing and where melodies tend to go
I like how this breaks the culture barrier of breakbeat and electronic music. I would be very interested how a person would react, that is mainly familiar with classical piano music. Might show the same effect I had when I discovered RDJ when I was 16 years old. The dimensions between rhythm and melody, all of it's structure revealing a depth of imagination was purely fascinating for me.
@@8bits59 I know, but i think AFX is mostly known to fans of uk electronic music and it's link to breakbeat etc. Also, try a more friendly attitude next time, might help you.
It depends sometimes de melody comes first and then you figure out the bass but usually it is easier just to start with one bass note , then the melody , the other bass note and so on...and so on..
I'm a pretty crappy piano player but I agree with Kevin. If I'm playing something already written I'm gonna be learning all the hand motions as a muscle memory involving both hands, while if I'm improvising usually I can't really think fully about the actions of both hands. Instead, I'll sort of divert most attention to one hand or the other while the other kinda runs on autopilot playing something either in response to the hand I'm paying attention to or something repetitive and easy to keep going. Over a long time you build up muscle memories that tell that hand what to do with the other one if that makes sense.
Great work! I have a different version but yours is much better. I think I'm going to attempt to transcribe your version to notes. Thank you for sharing.

I didn't notice it until I read your comment and it scared the shit out of me
lmao nice one, rdj
same
LOL SCARED ME TOO
whenever I hear RDJ's work translated to a basic piano it reaaaaally shows his mastery of melody.
Was thinking the same thing
Whenever I hear Robert Downey jr translated into piano 😮

Beautiful! Only thing missing is the sound of you scooting your piano bench on a hard floor.
haha clever
RDJ actually cam out and said it was a rusty ammo tin lid
lol that would make this incredible
I was not aware of how well this sounds on piano.
i meannnnnnnnn a synth is kinda like a piano

The way you gave this such a human feel, the light refrains when you went into the “chorus” section. This is so beautiful , thank you
This is straight up just a really good rendition of Alberto Basalm

Best cover on TH-cam, simplicity at its best… FANTASTIC 👍
Excellent. I wish I could have a piano sheet from it

Me too!
true. at least you can see the fingers.
As an amateur piano player, I know how difficult it is to play those Aphex Twin rhythms on live piano. Beautiful execution!
his smile in the corner.... excellent cover, so pleasant
I love how Richard slowly fades into existence in the corner
This feels like all the things that make alberto balsam horrific have completly washed away, we can finally move on, recover, and escape the madness
This version sounds so awesome, wow
Would love to hear more aphex renditions, absolutely otherworldly
It feels like something is missing🤔
Like dragning chair maybe?
Lol
And the mettalic noise
And the shaker (which is a sped up sound of someone getting a haircut)
It wasn't even a chair...some old ammo in a rusting cartridge. Initially I thought it was someone hitting a pipe over a steel rail.

how do you piano players think simultaneously on different lines? like bass and solo at the same time? Or you think of it as single composition?
It depends sometimes de melody comes first and then you figure out the bass but usually it is easier just to start with one bass note , then the melody , the other bass note and so on...and so on..
Depends on the context. If it's sheet music its gonna be a single composition, if it's improvised it will be separate, generally.
