This vid made me discover Sonatine, and I just wanted to say thanks, because the movie is a damn masterpiece.
Fireworks, Kids Return and Kikujiro are also really good.
u have to be a very pretentious man if you liked it.
@@Herbert2892 why
@@Herbert2892 I don't know about Kerald, but I'm super pretentious. I only attend movie viewings using vintage viewmasters that are burned after the first use so the experience can't be duplicated by the less refined. It's the only way one can appreciate cinematic fare such as this and The Story of Ricky.
Seriously, I can see why some don't like Kitano's work but the movies I mentioned really did it for me..."Takeshis'"...not so much.
@@Sidharthavicious o really? and what the hell you see in gangsters doing nothing in the damn beach in the entire movie? and im really not into marvel movies.
This song is exactly the vibe of 1AM on a Summer Night
It's 1am and I'm chilling in the summer ur absolutely right
1 year later, and it is 1:31 on a july night.
first time hearing aphex twin. it goes hard
Enjoy
I love when you can tell someone put effort and passion into a personal project, thanks for making this.
It’s the best!
aphex twinの曲の子どもの美しさと残酷さみたいなのがソナチネにすごい合ってる。たけしの笑顔があのaphex twinの笑顔のジャケットのように見える
At this point I don't know how many times I've returned to this video, but I think a thank you is warranted at this point...
So thank you for making this

*I MUST WATCH APHEX TWIN - ALBERTO BALSALM AGAIN*
The editing is lowkey fire. yo you got some talent hidden up your sleeve. If you pursue it, I'm sure the world will be blessed by it.
yes,
You mean high-key
@@graduatedpinksnowball668 Now, That is the TOPIC of my conversation man!
Yeah, very low key. Needs lots of improvement. 😂.
Low key 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a damn beautiful compliment.
This is exactly what I needed at 3:51am

As a big fan of Takeshi Kitano and Aphex Twin let me just thank you for the incredible skill you put into editing the song to scenes from this movie which I am now massively intrigued in watching. Videos like this are like a gift from on high.
What's the name of this movie? It looks so good and I wanna watch it sometime
@@gumshoe1285 the name of the movie is Sonatine. It might become your new favorite organized crime story. 🙂
This has a feel like nothing else. Kind of nostalgia mixed with the inevitability of life that nothing ever changes and you’re just a tiny insignificant part of the grand total. You just live and do what you do and you're ok with it
Exactly how it sounds to me
try this guy: Kuniyuki Takahashi - album Early Tape Works 1986-1993, it's got this apex twin/boards of canada vibe.
Went fight club on me there
@@SuperM4RO wow sounds amazing, Getting some Borderlines vibes. Like im in a vast wasteland
that's pretty much how i live. The problem is everything keeps changing so i keep ignoring it.
It's fascinating to see what people come up with when interpreting Aphex Twin. Most of the time they are really interesting. Just like this. Really cool editing. I've never seen the movie, but it feels like I kind of got the plot. If the timeline in the movie is linear you made it way more interesting with your edits.
Same because it is entirely different from what I’ve interpreted.
I've watched this like ten times, then watched the movie, and I'm still visiting this. High key a masterpiece. Didn't think the movie would be as good as this video, but it was. But at the same time, this edit is in another genre all together.
I love how this video doesn't spoil anything about the movie, but even after watching the movie, the impact of this edit doesn't change.
10/10
I want to recomment you check other movies from Takeshi Kitano if you liked Sonatine, Brother and Hanabi are also really good
@@sukinano9433 I've heard of those, I'll be sure to check them out friend 👌
@@sukinano9433 great movies
This fits so well... thanks for making this!
One of my all time favorite fan music videos. Sonatine fits the mood of this rather amorphous song pretty well and the editing you did on the thing makes it even better and weirder.
This music is impossibly nostalgic yet offbeat. I love it!
another strange place that youtube takes me at 4am but im glad i clicked on this

Love both for Sonatine and RDJ music (Alberto Balsalm is a masterpice).
Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for making this. The way the footage of the film, the scenes of simple joy in the face of a harsh and grinding world matches the the gentle beauty laced in between hard percussion is near perfection. I revisit this so often, and it touches me every time.
You have united two masterpieces with wonderful editing, congrats.
I am so alone. Have so many stories to tell, so many experiences to share, no one to share them with except reminisce in them by myself. This song is what I feel when I had an eventful day but I'm still all alone when I'm going to sleep, praying to god that I may have the privilege of sharing my life with someone one day. I just hope it's not too late when I finally do meet someone. This song makes me feel at peace
u wanna talk?
Why are you alone?
you can change this bro, you got this
Same
You have to meaningfully commit to change then you can accomplish anything. If you enjoy your torment in any way then you are doomed.
This video is greater than the sum of its parts, you've really really done amazing beautiful work here. I love it. Thank you.
I didn't even know this film existed until now but this track made me feel like I have a personal history with those people. I miss them.
こんなにエイフェックスツインとビートたけし作品が合うことを教えてくれてありがとうございます。とても気持ちよくカッコよかったです!
Great job, the music and video complement each other so well, the duality of tragedy and beauty life gives us comes across from both. Also the editing is sooo good!
Amazing edition, for an Amazing song!
Truly a great job mate.👏
sonatine is one of the best films I've ever seen
I absolutely love this, please make more montages of this kind, just astonishing
I want to deeply thank you for your editing
I got so fascinated by both the music and the movie that i have discovered Aphex Twin and Sonatine - i have watched Sonatine earlier today, and it was a magnificent movie to watch
I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to Sonatine and Takeshi Kitano' other works
The song and the movie fits excellent together by the way!
Interesting choice for a video, it gives the music a new context, very cool : )
Aphex twin is the one who brought a lot to, today’s music. Seriously made an impact with instruments.
I come back to this edit all the time. It resonates deeply with me, and I don't quite understand it. But I love this video.
Thank you for this wonderful edit, dude! I appreciate your effort.
Aphex Twinのこの曲+たけし、というだけで、もうびっくりですね。ナイーブなやさしさと、根源的な暴力性のミックスが、マシュマロ入りナッツチョコアイスのようにあなたを襲う。素晴らしいMV。
Just think of this song by Aphex Twin + Takeshi, and you'll be amazed. The mix of naive gentleness and fundamental violence hits you like nutty chocolate ice cream with marshmallows. Great music video.
隻要想想Aphex Twin + Takeshi的這首歌,你就會大吃一驚。天真的溫柔和基本的暴力混合在一起,像堅果巧克力冰激淩加棉花糖一樣衝擊著你。偉大的音樂視頻。
Been a long time fan of Aphex Twin, I gotta say you captured everything perfectly.
Today is a good day to watch japanese realism films....
Amazing piece of work you got here OP, thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Stumbled upon this after finding aphex and watched the movie because of it. The music and movie go incredibly well together. The aesthetics feel so beautiful and also nostalgic for some reason. I need to deep dive aphex and Kitano now!
One of my favorite pieces of music. the film/edits fit so well its eerie. well done internet stranger
This video is incredibly touching to me somehow. I liked the song before, but after watching this my feelings about the song completely morphed and gave me new appreciation. The way the film is shot makes me think of my childhood
Ah yes a Kitano fan
Sonatine is actually my favorite Kitano despite there being so many masterpieces
I like Kitano, for all his faults he really is a creative force.
Today is the album's 26th birthday!

You turned the movie and the song into something even more stunning, the editing is beyond belief. Thank you 🙏
This video is a psychedelic masterpiece

After coming back to this video over and over again I’ve just got to say this is one my favourite videos on TH-cam. You’ve got talent!
本人も言ってたけど、ソナチネは北野監督の最高傑作だと思う。

Thank the algorithm for sending me this video and finally getting me to watch Sonatine. Also, this video totally does the film justice. Manages to capture the vibe well!

Great work doc, keep it up!
To everyone doubting about the movie: go watch it now.
Two of my favorite artists side by side. It's amazing how this song fits so well with Sonatine.
really love how the editing in this video manages to manipulate the tone of many scenes given they are out of context here in comparison to when watching the film
It seems like this music was born for this movie. Thanks from Japan for great editing.
This is the best video I’ve ever watched
This is realy「BEAT TAKESHI」(Takeshi Kitano's stage name in Japan)
thank you PLAGU, very cool.
Late 80s aesthetics in this film is something to behold,
This video and the song is such a vibe
I always come back here.
I’ve watched this so many times I don’t even need to search for it anymore it just turns up in my feed
I've never watched this movie before, but it seems really good and the match with the music is very interesting and curious. good job with the editing too
