Dear Max, may I correct some points:

"The Mavic 2 is way heavier than the Mavic Air"

I usually find Max's reviews insightful - but I feel like he missed several key points with this one. I decided to purchase the M2P even after viewing this negative review. The 10-bit mode really stretches the limits of the processing power this drone has on-board. I am not the slightest bit bothered that lens corrections are not automatically applied in this mode. If I am already shooting shooting in log, what is a little extra work in post to correct the distortion? I almost never have issues with it, but if I was shooting architecture or something with lots straight lines I am confident I could apply the necessary corrections in AE. Similarly, I prefer adding my sharpening in post, this gives me the most flexibility and looks better than in-camera sharpening IMHO. I see it as DJI trying to squeeze as much as possible out of a compact package and to that end they succeeded. Being able to choose between full FOV and the HQ crop is wonderful because it essentially gives you two focal lengths for scenes where the HQ crop is too tight. The footage and photos that I have captured with this drone are nothing short of amazing and rival the image quality of larger-sensor, dedicated mirrorless cameras. Add to that the fact that the M2P flies ridiculously well and the M2P is nothing short of remarkable and has earned its reputation as the best, compact, prosumer drone available today.

I think you are spot on with your comparison. I have the Phantom 4 Advanced Plus and the Mavic Air also. I ordered the Mavic 2 Zoom to add to my fleet and selling the Mavic Air. I think many people want the Mavic series to be as good as the Phantom series but that would be bad for DJI so they knew exactly what they were doing when they held some features back that they could have added to the Mavic 2 Pro such as 4K/60 fps. When I want the best image quality I fly the Phantom 4, when I need to travel or just want to fly it's the Mavic Air (soon to be Mavic Zoom). The Phantom 5 should blow everything away or it will not sell.

I love my P4P, used it all over Europe during my vacation and captured some incredible footage. $ well spent.

Max appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences I have not had full on experience with the drones but watching others use them they point out several different types of issues with it getting scratched to liking smaller ones so I would have to check out myself to get my full picture of what I think of all of them. Thanks for sharing your experience with this Deb.👍✌

The Mavic 2 pro has an excellent camera, in fact I would supect having basic photography skills will go an long ways in getting that cinematography look that we want from our footage.

The sad truth is that people typically expect better result when they buy a more expensive gear without realizing that the mind behind the machine needs an upgrade too.

I have the Phantom 4 Obsidian. I shoot H.265 and get amazing results. The built in screen in the controller is everything.

Fantastic video Max, great to hear your thoughts and information you've collected from your tests. I was going to upgrade from my current drone, the original Mavic Pro, but the results from the Pro Zoom don't look all that impressive. It would be interesting to see where the original sits relative to the drones you discussed. For now the Mavic Pro is perfect for my vlogging needs. Thanks for sharing this mate!

So happy you made this video, cos hopefully with a name as large as you DJI will take it seriously with improving the mavic 2 pro with some firmware or something

So, a year later..... any changes in your mind on the 2 Pro? I would like to sell stock footage, and thinking that the 2 Pro is the way to go over all..... and it will be $350.00 savings on Black Friday.

Great review, Max! Of course, I watched this just AFTER ordering my Mavic 2 Pro! I'm upgrading from a Phantom 3 Standard, so I'm sure I'll see a step function in every aspect, including image quality.
