    A landing pad is a must, especially if you are taking off and landing in dirt/sand! Your quadcopter will last longer if you use it! Also, calibrating your compass the first time is not unusual. The drone was manufactured in China, so you should perform a calibration everytime you fly in a new area.

      i never used landing pads myself and i been shooting with drones for years. if i feel the terrain is not going to work out for take off like too dusty i hand launch it or launch it from another location.
      as for compass calibration, please dont recalibrate every single time or even the first time you get it unless there is an error indicating compass needs it. even if compass begging for it in app, best to move the drone to another location and reboot first to see if that clears the error, more times than not it is just something nearby upsetting the compass. i personally only recalibrated my compass one time on my mavic pro and it has flown over 1300 miles and 67 hours of flight time and traveled to 4 countries. my mavic air on he other hand that thing was constantly begging for compass calibrations every few days.. my inspire 1 i used to own i calibrated a handful of times, mostly back in the day when the app was buggy and triggering false errors because failing to understand real issues. and my spark i used to own (rip sparky) asked for it one day then crashed into a tree 200 feet up and fell to its death (i think was unrelated to compass though) but sparky was asking wonky that day with lot of errors i never saw before.

There's a reason for a compass calibration, the drone came from China out of the box; Would you rather have a fly away? Landing pads are a safety option/tool for return to home and protecting your investment. In my humble opinion, they had a year to review so many other peoples (TH-cam professionals)video about mavic 2 and come up with something to raise the bar. Reading more specs, specs, specs. There's always a pre-fly check if you're not rushing to do your job.

    Those helipads look a bit geeky but they are very useful if taking off or landing in sandy/grass areas as the drone kicks up a lot of debris which can damage it. Also, when your drone gets to approx 30ft in altitude it takes a photo to assist it landing in the correct location if it needs to return to home via GPS, the helipad gives it a great reference point to land in the correct area.

      Hi, I'm just waiting to have delivered a new m2p as my p4a crashed recently. My p4a was good for about 18 months but I did slowly become less trusting of it. Even though I did regularly replace the props, it crashed because 1 of the props exploded at the trailing edge of a blade stem - meaning a manufacture fault, I didn't hit anything.
      Hopefully my new m2p will prove to be more reliable - unlike this TH-cam presenter, I found a new one, with free delivery and 12 month warranty for around $168.96 cheaper than the mentioned amazon kit at $1330. Even if I wanted an additional sdcard, I'd still be around $100 up.
      Really looking forward to flying it and continuing to add videos to my channel!

    I had a (purchased new) phantom 4 that I had problems with from day one that were never solved, I flew it a total of 4 times..and then it sat in my closet for multiple years. I finally sold it cheap and decided I'd try a mavic 2 pro thinking they'd be so much better. I ordered one with the regular controller, and it was messed up from the time I received it, so I returned that and it cost me $70 total (small restocking fee). The regular controller is a PITA to use so I figured I'd try another one with the smart controller. That controller is fantastic, and this mavic 2 pro worked pretty much as expected. However, I could only fly it about half a mile before it would lose connection (mostly flat rural area). I probably could have made it work, but for $2k I really have no need for a drone, so it went back as well. Luckily this time I was smart about were I purchased it and it didn't cost me a penny.

Besides the fact that I have to take my case off my phone, as it will not fit with the case on it)..and it kills my phone battery because the battery in the remote doesn't charge enough to charge my phone. Just a big hassle every time you want to use it lmfao. The smart controller just works, and it feels a lot better in your hands.

      @@wantsanewvehicle there's regular usb plug for use with phone on holder (with case) etc, and you can charge it . original controller is made in same way as drone itself: to be as compact and mobile as possible. for that it works just fine and i flown it in rural or rocky areas very far without problems. rtfm also stands for knowing your equipment, how signal works, what can cause lost of it, what can mess up internal gps or compass etc (this goes for any drone). if phantom and mavic with occosync didn't work for you, than i don't think any other similar drone will, sorry, all of them are weaker in basically

      @@izoyt Hey, if it works for you and you are happy with it..fantastic. If it were me, I don't like the controller setup and I feel as though the smart controller is the only way to go. Like I said, like most people, I have no need for a drone and after being disappointed and wasting a lot of money on the phantom, I wasn't about to waste even more on this one to realize that I will only use it 4 times in 3 years.

    I disagree landing pad is really useful especially if taking off in sandy spots sand can damage the drones internals and motors plus it snows alot where I'm located so land pad plus steaks is extremely useful. Gimble speed can be adjusted

    Why doesn't anybody say anything about M2Pro batteries? I think they get too hot when flown for long, & they get swollen, & I have read many similar cases. Some have returned their batteries to dji & had them changed, but people like me in Iran have to buy new ones. The voltage & cells are all ok, but battery is swollen. I think it is only for heat.

    Don't discount the landing pad, so readily. You would be surprised how useful one of those can be when your launch/landing areas are 98% either really tall grassy areas, or beaches. Trying to land a drone in tall grass or beach sand are not good ideas. That landing pad gives you a clearing of sorts to put down on. Actually, pretty useful.

    I wouldn't say this drone is crash proof. I ended up crashing my Mavic 2 Pro. I had a glitch and the drone took off and hit into a house. The sensors didn't try to stop it.

  • @FredJanon
    @FredJanon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really think you were extremely lucky to fly through the power lines, to say the least. The Mavic didn't "see" any of the power lines, only the trees on the left side, 7ft away AFTER flying through the power lines at at 11:57 th-cam.com/video/D6MpqPe2-mg/w-d-xo.html Many Mavic 2 Pro crashes are shown with way bigger obstacles than that. There is no way the sensors would detect a power cable. Don't count on the obstacle avoidance sensors to save the drone, it works well but has its limitations. There are plenty of videos showing these limitations.
