You gotta go try the active track and run through trees. Youll be blown away. The Mavic 2 pro will adjust itself like a wizard!!!! I tried it... and was blown away!! Seriously. itll follow you through the trees, adjust itself up and down, go around, etc... and the sensors are wicked good!!
You must not be a heavy color grader ? When it looks like that out of camera it’s kind of a bad thing, you want the colors to be neutral & the exposure to be flat looking as this is better for color grading in post! Canon 5d has the exact same issue... Good contrasty colors out of camera but in post it’s a nightmare to grade
As a Newbie to the Hobby, and actively thinking of buying one, this was one the best Videos on the subject that I have seen - informative (devoid of too much jargon), concise, pithy, articulate and clear & comprehendible delivery. Well done and Thnx.
Hey Parker, I noticed you gave them a draw on image quality. But in the side by side tests you were showing, the Phantom 4 shots looked a lot sharper. It seemed like that should go to the P4. Did anyone else notice that? Thanks for the comparison, man!
Thats straight from camera. Sharpening in post is always better than in camera. after you grade the Mavic looks every bit as sharp as the phantom. Both amazing though.
an don´t forgot the body-color, one is white, the other is grey, white is much better, because it don´t heat up in the sun as much as the grey one does. this an the unfair draw by the overall image quality test. let me guess, 10 to 9 for the mavic.
Indeed, the lens of the Mavic are smaller and produce lens distortion which is corrected in the camera firmware and which leads to reduced sharpness. This along with the lack of 60fps for 4K is quite big deal for videographers actually. I have had Phantom 4 Pro and now I own Mavic 2 Pro only for the portability. This one is missing for me a lot. Another noticeable difference is that the Mavic sensor have much darker image on night videos for same ISOs, which is very strange. Probably the sensor is not as good as Phantom's one... :/
Awesome video as always. Currently have the Phantom 4 Pro and was wondering if it was worth switching! Sounds like I'll be hanging on to my Phantom 4 a little longer
I also like how, because they only took 3 seconds different to set up, he declared it a draw, yet gave a point to the Mavic because its flight time was 1 minute more than the Phantom.
I bought the Mavic 2 Pro as a backup to my Phantom 4 Pro. I literally haven't used my P4P since. The ONLY downside that I've noticed is the lack of 60FPS on the M2P. And I'm shocked that the noise difference is that low... When I started my P4P up it drew a lot of unwanted attention. With the M2P barely anyone seems to notice. Nice video!
@@nathan.ankamah Oh Chale, 3te s3n? I can buy you Mavic Pro 2 but you will have to work for me. Visit www.myafricanaffairs.com and contact me from the site...I don't want to post my contact here.
Best comparisons on TH-cam hands down! Parker is more precise and unbiased then Devin Supertramp, Peter McKinnon, MKBHD, or anyone of the likes! He actually puts time, effort, and quality into every video he does!
Lol while your comment may be true for this video and a lot of his content, lets not forget those canon reviews with one of them being a paid canon promotion. He should have destroyed those cameras (I understand why he wouldn't, as he wants further relationship opportunities with canon, as would I). But while Parker is one of my most favorite youtubers, and has some of the best content I've seen (fanboy myself), I have to say as a fan that his canon videos were definitely not unbiased. While he did give cons for the cameras, those points weren't hit enough as much as they should have been. I don't know how anyone could recommend any canon camera at this point other than the c100 series and the 1dx ii. The quality is just not there from canon (which saddens me). Color science isn't a major problem if you do your homework for sony and panasonic (look at my content and tell me if you think the colors in-camera look bad). I believe he even said 4k isn't important, which is beyond horrible advice. Yes 4k doesn't always = guaranteed better quality, but with canon's horrible codec and 1080p processors, I can say that if I had bought a canon camera with no 4k, horrible codec, and poor noise performance, my content wouldn't nearly look as good as it does, other than the colors looking 10% better had I bought a canon. Why does 4k matter? Because of the internet's compression, that's why. Cause once that image hits the 1080p compression from youtube, your image looks like crap. Also, the future of 4k on monitors and laptops will effect your content.
Parker spot on review 👊 of differences between M2P and P4P. I have watch many other reviews, Parker the first person out of many other TH-cam creators that understands who M2P designed for in my humble opinion. All the people complaining that M2P video features and benefits aren’t better than P4P video features need to understand M2P designed for professional photographers and videographers who love to manual control exposure, manually control white balance (using color checker passport before you fly mission), manually control aperture (make sure to use PolarPro ND/PL16, ND/PL32, ND/PL64 filters highly recommended), and choosing film type Dlog-M 10 bit in production. So when you get to post production you’ll know your film is well exposed and composed so your post production workflow is much easier. * M2P holds up better in heavy color grade and produces better colors in post production * M2P has new HDR profile that P4P doesn’t have * M2P distortion is easily corrected with Film Poets free distortion correction preset * M2P will shoot 2.7K 2688x1512 at 50 fps so you can slow down to 23.976 fps in post production to get buttery smooth shots and still be able to have some room to scale up your shots if needed. More than likely your rendering your videos in 1920x1080 23.976 fps * M2P gives you option to film with H.265 which is a much better codec than H.264, unless you have custom PC desktop “BEAST” will handle full resolution and H.265 codec with color grading multiple after effects layers, morph cuts, etc. in editing work. You still need to create proxy files to speed up workflow. * M2P Problem with sharpness DJI sets in camera easily corrected by setting custom +1, 0, 0 * P4P no long in production
Phantom is a clear winner in giving you the best image. The detail is much more significant filming landscape and the phantom holds more detail in the shadow as well. Also, it's a lotttt more color accurate which matters. Personally, all the assist features limits your ability to grow. Learn how to track a subject properly, steady your hands. The hyperlapse feature is really unusable. Solid drone but don't be fooled by the inane amount of features. At the end of the day, image quality is most important.
Tue mavic wins clearly, 10bit gives much more information in shadows and highlights as you could see in the test... portability is clear and for us traveller a huge point, clear mavic again. You can turn off the sensors if you don't want them, but it's ofc a plus feature for the mavic. The colour is just so close by each other, I found the mavic to look nicer, that's opinion. You have all the new features with timelapse and following which add as a rounder product... there is no discussion that for a "average traveller or filmmaker", the mavic is clearly best. And if you want high level quality, you won't go with a phantom, u will get a inspire as there is a difference
Frozn Fire not true. Time lapse is basically useless 99% of the time unless you have a rare occasion with perfect weather conditions. Also I know big production agencies who fly with the phantom 4 pro on big budget music videos. It’s definitely capable of producing a very clean image that can easily blend with arri/red footage.
Mavic 2 pro destroys that argument now. And I’m very glad about that.. have you ever packed a phantom 4 pro for traveling? At that point you mine as well get an inspire... I feel like DJI May discontinue making phantoms from now on because now it just feels forced and feels like if they do it will just be the awkward cousin to the mavic... plus mavic series is more versatile as well, for entry line (Air) and higher end line (pro/zoom) as well they have 2 enterprise lines for mavic 2 now.. thermal vision (M2ED) and standard enterprise (M2E)..
For better shots, speed, wind resistance, and better tracking and range go for phantom. But for cheaper, more portable, and smaller more nimbal drone, go mavic
Depending on what your needs are. You can do a lot more with a phantom. It’s like a work horse. I fish with my pro 3. We have this tweaker house that was stealing everything in the neighborhood so I put flashing red and blue lights on it and flew it over their house at night. Then I have a drop mechanism and I would drop lead weights on their roof at night.
Thanks Parker, I'm about to invest in my first drone for my video business and I was juggling between these two (leaning toward the M2P) and you just helped me make a final decision. You're the best, IMHO. Keep it up.
I own a phantom 4 and was considering swapping to the Mavic, I'm so pleased to see this comparison, great work! My two cents. Straight out of the camera, I much prefer the footage from the Phantom. I also tend not to grade drone footage too heavily (Or anything for that matter) so 8-bit doesn't bother me too much. The big thing for me would be portability, it's a pain having to lug the Phantom's box around, BUUUT the controller is far better and I love having a screen built it, the battery life on the controller is also stellar, so that I think has swung me to keeping my phantom. Though I'll probably buy the Mavic if I get a job where I need to go out of the country (Shh, don't tell my wife) Great vid!
Excellent comparison and that intro...damn.. I also have both Mavic 2’s and the Phantom 4 Pro Plus.. I personally find the setup time for the P4P+ to be much faster than any Mavic.. it’s the display.. unfold it and turn it on. If there’s one thing I absolutely hate about Mavic drones it’s having to wrestle my phone in to that stupid controller. I have to first remove the phone from the case and close all the open apps and open the GO app. For me this takes twice as long as simply putting the props on the P4P+ my dream would be a Mavic 2 Pro with a built in display on the controller...
I agree! I finally upgraded my phone and kept my old one strictly for my mavic. Makes things alot easier now. I just keep it in airplane mode and removed all programs aside from the DJI app.
Great video. But 60% battery for 3 hours is totally acceptable, and you could/should be charged up before doing "all day" or "more than 3 hour" drone shots, anyhow! So that was not a fair negative in my opinion. getting 3 hours of shots for your 60% phone battery is fine. I also always bring external 20,000mAh charger with me, and I use a separate dedicated iPad Mini 4 for flying w/ mavic(s) and never use my phone
In my my P4P vs Mavic-II Pro shootout tests, the P4P clearly resolves more detail. The P4P does a full pixel readout, 14mp in 16x9 4k while the Mavic-2 Pro line skips.
Thats wrong, phantom 4 pro always gives you digitally sharped video, which people thinks oh thats more details its providing, mavic 2 pro gives u a cinemetic video, which is less sharped but its good, mavic 2 pro is better in camera overall !
Come on, the phantom 4 looks WAY better. 6:43 just look at the sharpness of the trees in comparison to the mavic as well as the detail in the rocks. 8:07 sharpness difference isn't as apparent here, but the p4 colors look way better. Take P4 if you want better image quality and 4K60fps Take mavic if you want portability, better tracking and better object avoidance
that sharpness in those tress & mountains looks awful, i love the soft but sharp effect in mp2, just like red, arri & other cinema cameras. I own a mavic pro & it has that same awful p4 pro effect, i just simply hate it! At final comp, i always soft the image than it looks more pleasing & comfortable to eyes. You guys maybe those people who loves their eyes to bleed!
I haven't used either of these, but am doing a lot of research. I really appreciate your clear, level presentation and the range of factors you compared. This video was stylistically a great relief, on top of being very informative.
Remember that P4P only shoots 4k60 in h264, which basically halves your bitrate compared to h265. And you're actually halving that again since you're shooting twice the amount of frames pr. second (4k60 h264 vs 4k30 h265). I still sold my P4P for the M2P tho, as the image quality and portability is just awesome (the P4P controller is a behemoth, so glad to be rid of it).
@@2dimples_dad255 its pretty much math.. While it is shooting at a higher framerate the data rate is the same. That means you get half the information per frame. That can sometimes be mitigated by compression but.. fact remains. The data rate is not increased to compensate for the higher frame rate so each 60 fps frame will have half as much information as the 30 fps frames in the MP2.
If you are going to get the mavic of any version I would recommend getting an OTG cable to plug into your phone. This improves the connection as it’s not connected over WiFi and it also boosts the image signal
Own the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 since one year ago, quite satisfied with it, the RC with built in screen is great, very bright even under direct sun light. Only thing missing is the 10 bit color depth which would be better for color grading. Waiting for the Phantom 5 release to decide if I’ll upgrade to the Inspire 2 with X7 camera which I’ll probably will for the ProRes and Cinema DNG codecs capabilities.
Honestly most people are fine with the mavic 2 pro. The phantom SEREIS is just Too noisy and especially in the city. Where I live it gets you kicked out in 5 minutes where the mavic is quite and can be set up quickly and you avoid that fine.
I'd recommend the mavic mini! I have had it for 6 months, I've flown it over 100 times, 55 total hours. It's the best beginner drone, it's only 500 bucks and it shoots 2.7k! Best purchase I have EVER made in my life.
How can mavic win in price when you choose to buy the more expensive controller?????? BS! Both drones are the same price if you're using your phone!!!!

Great review, thanks. I use iPad Mini with my Mavick Pro, so less impact on battery. Make sure your iPad is the Cellular version, as only that has GPS sensor, which is needed if you want to track the controller via GPS.
Hiperlapse is a software feature... If the DJI wants, can put in the new firmware release. The time fly is 1 minute longer on the Mavic 2 but, in the pratice, is the same...
Parker, I have heard that the Mavic 2 Pro's sensor is hampered by its use of Line Skipping, and its sensor''s alleged tendency to overheat. Can you advise on those matters of chatter? Thanks so much! Cheers,
Came across your review, as I’m in the market for a drone and looking at business opportunities. Your review was very professional and informative! DJI continues to evolve and so do we as operators, so it’s no big deal a feature wasn’t mentioned. Obviously, you’re good at your craft and I wish you continued success!!! A definite thumbs up and subscribed!
Good, no nonsense review with the added benefit of your personal experience with the Phantom 4, thank you. This has helped me decide which one to go with.
Everyone please Do your own research before buying. Don’t listen to him, this is a Terrible review! Sounds VERY paid for, not real life comparisons, just to push a new product. I like how you purposely blow out some of the phantom’s shots, yeah that’s fair. 👎🏼 What about the weird focus breathing that the mavic 2 pro does while it’s flying, it totally destroys the shots. But you didn’t include that in your video, it’s a major glitch and you refuse to address it. Try giving a real review, don’t just peddle someone’s inferior product (mavic pro 2) and claim it to be so much better.
You definitely live up to your name! Personally, I'm just a guy that has never owned a high quality drone. I am a home inspector and recently purchased a $100 quad to practice with. I have been watching every darn drone video comparison out there right now. This video actually made me think the P4P would be the one for me. I didn't see any bias toward the MP2 at all. I am just looking for a drone that has great resolution for still shots ( roofs ) with safety sensors 'cuz my biggest worry is crashing through somebody's window.

Better portability was the deal maker for me. I sold my Phantom 4 Pro when I bought the Mavic 2 Pro. I don't really care for 4K 60fps so for me it was always going to be about portability. I also wanted a drone with an adjustable aperture that I could fit in my bag along with my camera. The Mavic 2 Pro does just that!

I have to first remove the phone from the case and close all the open apps and open the GO app. For me this takes twice as long as simply putting the props on the P4P+ my dream would be a Mavic 2 Pro with a built in display on the controller...
Yeah, if they shipped the Mavic with the same controller as the Phantom, I'd be all over it.
I agree! I finally upgraded my phone and kept my old one strictly for my mavic. Makes things alot easier now. I just keep it in airplane mode and removed all programs aside from the DJI app.
I wish i got the pro + back in the day. It really is a hassle to always pull out that extra cable.
Good to see a Really good comment! A lot of people chat a lot of pointless bullshit LOL
Own the Phantom 4 pro+ as well. You made me wanna chill and wait for the Phantom 5. Thanx man appreciate it!
Great video. But 60% battery for 3 hours is totally acceptable, and you could/should be charged up before doing "all day" or "more than 3 hour" drone shots, anyhow! So that was not a fair negative in my opinion. getting 3 hours of shots for your 60% phone battery is fine. I also always bring external 20,000mAh charger with me, and I use a separate dedicated iPad Mini 4 for flying w/ mavic(s) and never use my phone
thank you friend. I could not find a normal comparison in Russian, but your video closed all the questions. For now, I'm staying on Phantom 4 Pro
Wow you answered my Questions..Great Video.Wait for the Phanthom 5.🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 Hope is Smaller..DJI,,PLEASE??????
So far the best review I saw it on TH-cam. Thank you
In my my P4P vs Mavic-II Pro shootout tests, the P4P clearly resolves more detail.
You sir, have put an incredibly objective and informative video together here. It's no wonder you're incredibly successful. Props.
Absolutely incredible video production here, LOVE your intros - an inspiration for my own channel, I've got a lot to learn!!
Love you bro. The reason why you are successful is because you do everything with passion and meticulously/professionally. Thank you my friend
Come on, the phantom 4 looks WAY better. 6:43 just look at the sharpness of the trees in comparison to the mavic as well as the detail in the rocks. 8:07 sharpness difference isn't as apparent here, but the p4 colors look way better.
Take P4 if you want better image quality and 4K60fps
Take mavic if you want portability, better tracking and better object avoidance
Mavic 2 is slightly better then Mavic. Not worth upgrade
Nope, its just sharpening in camera. i prefer mavic pro 2 waaaay better. softness = cinematic
@@beatboxerjonasz2 i don't think soft picture of forest is cinematic. 4k means crisp pic
detailed? yes, but not oversharpened. phantom has a oversharpened picture
that sharpness in those tress & mountains looks awful, i love the soft but sharp effect in mp2, just like red, arri & other cinema cameras.
I have both but I prefer my p4p v2.0.
Best clean and proper review on drones ive seen so far. Great to know a bit more about the mavic 2 pro only
"Do you even lift bro?"
- Mr. Walbeck @ 1:25
Clear, concise, no bullshit, didn't waste my time with corny jokes.. just a solid review. Again..... You're my hero.
Can you explain halving bit rate?
@@2dimples_dad255 its pretty much math.. While it is shooting at a higher framerate the data rate is the same. That means you get half the information per frame. That can sometimes be mitigated by compression but.. fact remains. The data rate is not increased to compensate for the higher frame rate so each 60 fps frame will have half as much information as the 30 fps frames in the MP2.
If you are going to get the mavic of any version I would recommend getting an OTG cable to plug into your phone. This improves the connection as it’s not connected over WiFi and it also boosts the image signal
Amazed once again with your content. :)
Best Mav vs Phantom review yet.
I was just waiting for your video on this.
Awesome man! Was waiting for this review!
So Mavic gets points in 2 categories for tracking? Hmmm.
Parker 10/10... your presentation is too good, i was bit confused to buy which one...
Great video! Definitely need to save up for a drone!
I'd recommend the mavic mini! I have had it for 6 months, I've flown it over 100 times, 55 total hours. It's the best beginner drone, it's only 500 bucks and it shoots 2.7k! Best purchase I have EVER made in my life.
@@za.1624 ok thx
Like the review, quick and to the point alot of good side by side comparison, not a lot of "filler"
How can mavic win in price when you choose to buy the more expensive controller??????
BS!
Both drones are the same price if you're using your phone!!!!
@@benlin7426 Good point
No their not
of course he was paid to sell the MP2.
Awesome comparison. Still so stoked to own a Phantom 4 pro plus...Such amazing products.
That’s the most sexy intro I have ever seen in my whole life.
Great comparison video, Parker!...Well done!
1:30 THAT HURT MY SOUL 😥
How?
Thanks for the very thorough comparison. I presently own a Mavic Pro and will be upgrading to Mavic 2 Pro eventually, but I'm not in a huge rush.
Jajaja I have heard AUDIOJUNGLE in the beginning, saludos desde Colombia.
@@fulltimefilmmaker parker! I admire you so much, I dont underdtand english very well, I speak spanish. but I have watched all your videos... I have shoot a real state video today and it was great, thanks to you.
Any idea about the name of that track on audiojungle ?
Yeah! Check this audiojungle.net/item/sports/22001229?s_rank=23 is no the same but very similar.
i dont usually comment but this guy has his stuff together. ty
Such a dope comparison man! Been waiting for this comparison to see if the Mavic 2 will replace he phantom! Definitely want to grab the Mavic 2 pro to replace the Mavic air for my Channels videos 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
OfficialTimGreene I really want that Mavic 2 Pro never owned a drone before!
Yeah me too definitely considering this over a phantom unless they release a phantom 2 lol
That one inch sensor definitely will make his wedding videos even better quality, excited to see down the line how he uses this :)
I think I’ll just wait it out, I have the phantom 4 pro and it works great plus that 4K 60! I’ll give it another year before I upgrade...
That sensor size has me like 😬😬😬😬
Great review, thanks. I use iPad Mini with my Mavick Pro, so less impact on battery. Make sure your iPad is the Cellular version, as only that has GPS sensor, which is needed if you want to track the controller via GPS.
4:27 lmao
Superb video! thanks for answering our questions and helping us learn a bit more to compare.
I would keep me p4p for one reason; the mechanical shutter.
Which the Mavic Pro 2 has.
pretty sure specs only list electronic shutter.
@@mharro88 no mavic does not have the mechanical sutter and looks too soft
@@user-pt6in7pp2y it's not soft at all? I'd rather it soft and fix it in post than have it done by software
What is the benefit to having a mechanical shutter in a drone? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question. Just curious
Great comparison, I have the Phantom 4 Pro V2 and I'm very happy with it, still no complaints lol.
THE PHANTOM IS BETTER!!!!!!!!
Cheers,
*MOST LEGENDARY THUMBNAIL EVER*
4:29 lmfao 😅😅
Came across your review, as I’m in the market for a drone and looking at business opportunities. Your review was very professional and informative! DJI continues to evolve and so do we as operators, so it’s no big deal a feature wasn’t mentioned. Obviously, you’re good at your craft and I wish you continued success!!! A definite thumbs up and subscribed!
audiojungle watermark in first seconds...lol xD
Haha lol. When he buys 2 1.5k drohnes, he doesn't have 10 $ to pay for a legit licence
Dude.. thank you! New to the drone scene and was looking at both of these. Great comparison, things I didn't even know to consider.
I never got 30 minutes on the P4 but ok.
22 to 25 minutes top. 31 minutes if it just hovers in Mid Air without doing anything (which is mostly useless).
Great comparison! Couldn't have been done better.
5.14 - 5:15 you took one point from mavic 2 pro
1:31
seeing that camera getting an uppercut from the controller gives me gussebums
"this is an unbiased video" 20 seconds later "the phantom is quicker to get up in the air but I'm not going to pick a winner" 😂
Top notch video. It's easy to see, you are a professional. Great unbiased ratings on the drones.
Someone flexin in the thumbnail aye?
Great review! I'm moving into adding a drone to my videography, and I'm leaning towards the Mavic 2 pro. Thanks!
I think that phantom 4 gives a sharper image quality, more powerful than mavic 2 😅😅😅
I use the Mavic 2 Pro for all my videos. I love it!
I don’t care about the drones. I’m just here for those bulging arms 🥴
congrats on all your success man. well done on this
Jesus loves you
i love how you like to see the points in different products
I wanna sell my hourse to buy this!😂
Good, no nonsense review with the added benefit of your personal experience with the Phantom 4, thank you. This has helped me decide which one to go with.
5:07 thats becouse it is iphone
very comprehensive and not bias.. great job!
Certainly that he was paid to sell MP2.
Parker just gotta tell ya, found your channel yesterday and have binge-watched a majority of your videos. You're a straight baller and I really appreciate all of the free content that you share - I also greatly admire your marketing prowess and how you tie part 2 videos into your FTT course...shrewd moves playa lol
All of that aside I look forward to hopping into your course in a few months. Going through a career change at the moment but will be in there for sure when the time is right.
God bless 🤙🏻
I have both (Phantom 4 Pro V2 Plus) and think they're both great. Tend to use the Phantom more but I've had it longer. Both are outstanding aircraft.
