That's a good tip! I was trying to not use anything but ended up needing an invisibility potion. Just did it with no items, levels, or equipment though in my latest short! I'll keep that strat in mind when I do level1 lonewolf.
Grym's movement only gets him halfway across the platform, so I used a potion of flight to get around him, and lured him back and forth between the edge and center of the platform. That leaves you just out of his melee reach. Only danger is when he uses his stomp.
The dragonborn fire resistance really should stack with the dragonic bloodline's resistance, it's just silly that picking the same dragon for bloodline and ancestry is the sub-optimal pick
I’m surprised he didn’t go for the infernal robe. You get it by killing Karlach in wylls quest. It gives you fire shield which is a level 4 spell and you can get it in under an hour
I already did a few solo runs with either non spellcasters or at best half spellcasters, so i really wanted to see one done with a spellcaster, and the element limitation makes it even better
iiits torture! There's a really good build with sorcerer warlock if you want to minmax, I think there's a lonewolf video on it. Though I like solving my problems with fireball
@@anthonyfaiell3263 on tactician that starts to get costly, probably the best way to go full spellcaster would be to get eldritch blast with potent robe (on an evocation wizard if you wanna minimax) coz then you got some reliable dmg to use without spending spell slots for easier fights, but at this point you're playing warlock but worse
Question remains why you didn't get the Hat of Fire Acuity right then and there in Moonlight Inn while you were there? Surely this is by far the most powerful item for you in the whole run
Thanks for watching, and good point! I did actually grab it, though I was going to bring it up in the next video. I valued the free spell slot more at the early levels, so I just made the decision to omit the procurement. I might consider the Pyroquickness hat later as well.
@@Pheeon Just had to mention it because I just got it a few hours ago in my run and it borderline trivializes the game if you open with a scorching ray, maybe upcast it, for up to a +7 on spell attacks and especially spell save DC. Play as a gold dwarf with draconic ancestry for fighter level HP. It's an additional +2 HP for every level, also if you take the "durable" feat it's another additional 2 hp per level. My character is a dwarf sorceror using a 2 handed hammer 😂
Ooh y'know fair point. I like my gameplay nice and dark for the atmosphere but its gotta make for some poor viewing at points, I'll up the gamma for part 2 especially 👍
@@Pheeon With regards to lighting, also remember TH-cam makes footage darker during processing and low-light will severely damper the bitrate of the footage. You probably want footage even brighter than normal to safe
Dude, you are making me want to get into sorcerer right now. Unfortunaly, right now I'm commited to beating the game as bard. Next time for sure though
As part of the lone wolf challenge are you able to bring wyll to camp to get the infernal robe wnen you kill karlach? That free fire shield spell would give you a little extra fire damage against melee attackers.
Was it silence or blind? I have never been blinded by them, that sounds awful, but also a useful tip you can loot all of their bodies before you press the button which renders the warrior practically useless
Nice job. By the way, is there any reason to go get Withers early? I didn't get him in my current run and he just showed up at camp, but I always see challenge runs opting to get him
I like to grab him since it's always good to get him if I screw up the build, or if I want to experiment. There's an added bonus that by respecing you have a sudo long rest, where you get spellslots and health from leveling. I probably won't be exploiting it but it's on the table. Plus, you get decent enough loot and xp, the ruins+goblins should be enough to get level 3
You could! Though Its technically bludgeoning damage lol, I'm weird like that. I was confident I could do it without it since I was able to beat him under even less ideal circumstances
I did at 10:06 Originally, I took the skill point improvement to get better health and chance to hit. After I killed auntie I was able to get 18 charisma from her boon, so It was worth it swapping back. Not alot of fire resistant enemies in act 1
So I’ve been doing this except with ice magic only. And I’m doing it on balanced. Because the only damaging ice spells you have until level 7 are ice knife and chromatic orb. And I’ve knife rarely even does ice damage. It’s pure hell. I wanna die. Fire you get scorching rays and then fire ball at level 5. Fire ball does more damage than ice storm at level 7. You also don’t get create water unless you dip into cleric or Druid. So you really don’t get ice storm until level 8. But hey, you are forced to get heavy armor, and you do deal solid damage. Especially once you get the mourning frost. Which lets you inflict chilled, deal 1 more ice damage and freeze enemies.
@@EXL72 also, I’ve really optimized this build and it’s actually insanely strong even at lower levels. Can hit some insane damage off day of frost. If you crit and apply vulnerable. Stand on the forge and drop a potion at your feet. The broken potion will raise you when the hammer breaks it.

1-Dragon-Born
2-Sorcerer reaction
3-Staff
4-Elemental Adept
It should just become Fire immunity
