Awesome car! All I need is a plug in hybrid version with AWD here in the US and I am sold. Also, while the blind spot camera is a nice touch, it negates the benefits in a foggy, rainy environment so I would rather prefer a blind spot marker on my rear mirrors like it is on my Honda Accord.
Obviously a huge upgrade from the last generation Sedona. Unfortunately, I think the absence of an AWD and a hybrid option will prevent the Carnival from moving out of also ran status in sales among the tiny category of minivans remaining in the marketplace. But for those prepared to forego either of those options (e.g. potential Odyssey buyers) the Carnival should be especially appealing, especially among those prepared to shell out more than $40K for a top trim version.
Cmon man...there's trade offs in everything. You want Hybrid? that's going to take up room. Look at the Sienna. Great...35mpg. At what cost? You want to drive that sluggish lethargic 4 cyl for that big of a vehicle? you want that CVT? It ain't worth it. Plus the battery takes up valuable cargo, which is why the Sienna ls last in class cargo room. And I mean it's a lot compared to the Carnival. I get 28-29mpg on the 3 long road trips that I've taken with the Carnival. I'll take that all day. A car this size needs and deserves a proper V6. I can afford $5/gal gas. What I can't afford is stepping on the gas to accelerate to pass and hear that loud CVT growl like it wants to be a HEMI engine. No. Thank you. As for AWD? Sure...it might be handy 5-6 times out of the year. But it'll decrease your MPG..plus it's expensive to maintain. Minivans have survived for decades with FWD. It's going to find a way to survive. Now if you have AWD..Hybrid..with a V6 and the cargo that the Carnival would give you (top in class), then I will consider. Until then....this is still the winner.
@@take5DD Let me guess you don't live in the Pacific Northwest, the upper midwest, or New England where AWD is "handy (far more often than) 5-6 times out of the year." And yes, "minivans have survived for decades with FWD." But that survival rate amounts to 2% of vehicle sales as SUV's nearly all of which offer AWD have driven minivans off the market.
If you need a roof rack, you have to get sx trim. Because structurely the sx has different parts to avoid the top mount air bag. So you can't drill to make hole for any after market rack. Toyota allow even on lowest as options.
U got me at the end..had a nissan patrol before marriage...marriage n 2 kids ...kia carnival is more practical...comfortable....economical...and brings a smile to the face....thank u 4 the excellent review..

My dad has the Black LX '22 with the seat package I'm going to buy from him soon I have to keep the silver rims if I put black rims it'll look like Darth Vader😅
Do you know if you can order or build a carnival with all of the SX prestige options and the SX 8 seat package? From what it looks like online you won't get the sunroof and other features. I've asked numerous people at KIA and have gotten different answers.

@@Wareaglegirl9960 First run 2022 Carnivals had a bad fuel rail that leaked. Kia recalled anyone that had one and proactively fixed any before they were sold in June and beyond. My Carnival was purchased in July. No recall because Kia addressed the problem before the vehicle was delivered to the dealer
Kia sold between 13,000-18,000 minivans per year for the last 3 years. Not sure if they will spend the money to make more trims. I’d love a PHEV though

and u have driven this new vehicle ?? the Sedona i know were firm if u when with 19" rims but the 18 and 17" were great gave really good handling while still comfortable
😆😅 engines don't just catch fire.. write the fine print.. the owner run most of them out of oil and half poor maintenance the engine seized some engines punched a hole in the block the oil is what caught fire, even Cat engine do it trust mi 😁

I like ventilation in the second row seats. It gets hot here in the Southwest.

I'm weary of "1st Year" designs, they'll need to work out the bugs and make additional fixes. There will be a better version with less bugs next year.

Have you ever driven the Sienna? Yes, you save gas, but there is a lack of torque for sure.
