    Great to see how Sharpley Springs has matured I remember Simon getting these lakes dug out when Sharpley waters was still open. Not fished there since relocating yo Wensleydale some 18 years ago as I used to fish 3 or 4 times a week as I only lived 1/2 mile away

      Its really matured well Neil. We’re going to film again when it warms up and theres more fly life. It’ll look even better then. The lakes are all really well established, as you say. You should come up and give it another try. Its a great fishery now 👍

    Very enjoyable, and well edited/filmed. Much easier having someone else to operate the camera! I was on the Cuthbert two weeks ago, same weather, thick freezing fog and calm, the Tigers had me done in, plenty chases, rises even, but just wouldn’t take it properly. Did get two though, great fun. Best method was a FLOATING Snake! Loads of takes before I could sink it, once it sunk, no interest! Very odd.😂 Well dome anyway! 👍

      @CadenceFlyFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats much appreciated Lol. Enjoy your videos as well 👍 Always a good watch. Am pretty sure you filmed yours the same day this one was done? There was a mystery figure in the mist on the opposite bank Chappie thought was St Cuthbert himself! But it ties in with the peg you fished from later on in yours. So not an ex-saint. They tend to the do the opposite of what you think is sensible, those Tigers - so a floating snake sounds about right 🙂

      @@CadenceFlyFishing Thanks for the compliment! Was the distant figure shivering with icicles hanging off his nose? If Yes, it WAS me!😂🥶 I thought when I watched that mist roll in, was it the same day, but I must admit I didn’t see you, my specs must’ve been misted up too! 🥶There were loads of fish in that corner, rose plenty of them but they just wouldn’t take it properly, very annoying! My first was by the stone cross, might’ve even been the same fish as yours, came up to the fly every time it hit the water, proper skinny one it was, looked very hungry!

    What weight line do we normally use for trout fishing can’t understand the sizes and weights very well quite confusing?

    • @CadenceFlyFishing
      @CadenceFlyFishing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @owenjordan7165
      It’s a world of confusion I’m afraid 🙂
      If you are fishing lakes in the UK for rainbow trout, get a #8. These are your best all rounders. Just about everyone who has fished for a few years will have a #8 in their rod collection, so they’re never wasted money.
      As a quick explanation, the lower the number, the lighter the line and the less distance you can cast. You can get rods as low as #2 and generally up to #8 for trout fishing.
      Why do we bother with lighter lines and rods? Because the lighter lines help present the flies a little better, the fish don’t get so much of a fright when a lighter line lands on the water, and a lower rated outfit is lighter in the hand and you feel the fish better when you hook them.
      A heavier outfit will cast further and not be as badly affected by the wind.
      There’s plenty of the top anglers in the UK will use nothing but a #8 line and rod.
      There’s a Cadence blog that will give plenty of pointers on rod and line weights here in much more detail.
      www.cadencefishing.co.uk/blog/fly-fishing/choosing-a-cadence-stillwater-fly-rod/
      And if you have never trout fished before and haven’t got a clue what to buy for your first trip, read this:
      www.cadencefishing.co.uk/blog/fly-fishing/essentials-for-fly-fishing-on-stillwaters/
      Here’s a few pointers on what to do on your first ever trip:
      www.cadencefishing.co.uk/blog/fly-fishing/beginners-series-what-to-do-on-your-first-fly-fishing-trip/
      Then if you want to take it up properly, here’s the extra things you’d need to buy:
      www.cadencefishing.co.uk/blog/fly-fishing/non-essentials-for-fly-fishing-on-stillwaters/
      Hope that helps, but if you do have any questions let us know and we’ll try to help 👍

      @CadenceFlyFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi WilliamGrant,
      Yes we sell spare spools 👍 In case you didn’t know, if you order a Cadence reel at the moment (August 2023) you will get a free spare spool worth over £100 included free of charge).
      The rod carriers are made by a man outside of Cadence whose details I can’t put on a public forum like this. Which is why you’d need to send a private message to our facebook page. I’ll happily pass the details from there 👍
      Have you tried the 10ft #5 yet?
