Fly Fishing in Ireland: Lough Arrow with Tom Sullivan and Jackie Mahon

- In this video Fulling Mill Signature Tyers Tom 'Doc' Sullivan and Jackie Mahon take us along for a day of fly fishing in Ireland on Lough Arrow. As one of Ireland's premier wild brown trout loughs, Lough Arrow is a very special fishery. There are few like it anywhere else in the world. As Tom and Jackie fish through the day they talk about their fly choices, fly lines, the drifts they run, where they expect to find fish, fish behavior, and a whole lot more about fishing for wild brown trout. Between the two of them they have many decades of experience fishing on Ireland's Loughs. Whether you're just learning how to lough fish or are a seasoned pro, they have some serious expertise you do not want to miss.
For those of you who don't fly fish stillwaters or lakes often, don't overlook this video. There's a lot to learn about trout feeding behavior that can be applied to all sorts of fishing situations.

As someone who fishes all the time exclusively in rivers this is absolutely incredible. I look at this water and I wouldn’t have a clue as how to fish this. Although I’m no stranger to three fly rigs I’m almost always fishing small nymphs and tiny soft hackles. I’m not accustomed to fishing wets, especially in a team. Wonderful film.
This film captures the magic of a day in Lough Arrow with Jackie. Grateful and lucky to have lived that, and can recommend it to everyone.

Tom took me out on a boat years ago in a small lake in Galway. Fantastic time. Loads of wild brown trout. Smaller but feisty.

Hi the length of my leader is usually about 15 feet , I fish a 3 cast fly leader

@jackiemahon6941 cheers, I read 16-18' and I've tied them up at 18 to try initially, I'll be using and 11'3" rod, will have to wait and see if I struggle.
