Love the video Rabea. There are a bunch of videos out now for the GT1000 but it's terrific that you chose to spotlight the flexibility aspect primarily since the other guys only touch on that briefly. Good one mate!
For anyone who is interested, I have just started using my GT1000 thru two BOSS Nextone stage amps using 7 cable method and the pedal is finally sounding like it should. The latest update adds the nextone stage as an AIRD output option and it sounds incredible and feels just as good. Tons of grunt, I can't wait to get them cranked on stage, it's a pretty killer rig now. Not ultra cheap but for a pro player it's well worth it IMO. Also the nextone is a pretty decent amp on its own and can be tweaked and customized to sound and feel real good. Highly recommend giving this setup a go if you are a tone hound, it just works.
I never thought I would say this, but....that Boss multi sounds pretty good. AIRD > COSM and it isn't even close. UPDATE 03/28/2023: revisiting this vid as I'm considering a floor unit and.........I think this unit sounds better than all of the competition. Yes, all of it. The semi-rigid effects structure is a little annoying.....but I think I can work with it.
I had an ME-5 when it was in the music shops I think it listed for 600 bucks or something. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. Analog distortion digital effects., not sure why they don't do that anymore.
Hi Rabea, thanks for being the only reviewer if this pedal who has been able to explain how to seperate different sims to different sides. Its simple once you know... I knew it had to be easy. Should have tried that myself 😆 tried everything else!! I regard you as the go to guy for gear reviews and info. thanks again
The main thing here is that the presets actually sound great. The Helix has absurdly bad presets and takes ages to learn how to get the right sound from it. I was a big fan of the boss MS3 when I used it for gigging. Boss has super good effects and drives. I run Helix pre-amp models through a Fryette Power Station into a Marshall 2536A cab. Can you take the cab sims and power stage off of the presets?
Bloody Hell, Rabea. The blue lights and room treatment make your place look like a strip club! Get a couple of Hughes & Kettners in there and you're sorted.
Great video! Boss makes the best pedals and the tones you can create with it and the Boss eBand JS-10, this GT-1000 looks impressive! Thanks for sharing with us.
Sounds great, but Boss seriously need to up their UI-game. Showing all possible slots of the chain and scrolling through single line parameter pages is just awefull. They obviously have great engineers, they need to hire some interface designers ffs. The mobile app looks awefull too. They only got it right with the TONE STUDIO software.
Same with Kemper. Kemper has the best tone but worst interface from 1980. I think that Kemper and Boss need to hire better UI engineers to create a better color screen and user experience.
This is probably my biggest hangup on purchasing. I debate if its just worth waiting for them to release a new multi effects board with better UI but that could be many more years for all i know.
Agreed. I want this thing for the sound and processing power but every time I look at how bad the UI is and how much of a pain it is to do literally anything, I think about the easy-peasy ME-80 (which I already own) and consider buying a Helix LT, which is intuitive as heck. My one issue with the helix is the processing power. It doesn't work at 97khz. And if they wanted to in the future, I imagine they'd have to release new hardware to handle it, and it would probably be like $2000. Meanwhile Boss already has the processing power and they could potentially release a major update that fixes all of the UI issues. More processing power = more headroom for updates with higher quality modeling over the next decade.
Over the decades I have never plugged into any Boss effect that did not impress me. I am still a live amp guy and I choose gear to run with an amp rig, but a lot of the new recording emulation and IR stuff is definitely sounding great.
Hey Rabea, thanks for making this! This has been the most helpful video I’ve seen, gives me hope that I will be able to figure out some stereo stuff using a 7 cable method!!! Cheers!
I think this is the best demo of the GT-1000 so far and Rabea makes it also sound great... should I buy perhaps... thank you Rabea - would you be gigging with it yourself? Of course to my mortal soul and abilities I think this would suffice.
So Rabea, I just wanted to say thank you, well to you Dave (my new bass hero lol), and all of Dorje. Thank you for the inspiration you guys have given me lately. I needed something from somewhere else. Would die to jam with someday to Bea...just sayin' lmao. Y'all are so killer.
Hey there, Just a couple of comparison questions between the GT100 AND GT1000. First, on the 100, the Sub Control/Out allow you to add a Switch such as the Boss FS-5....or 6.....can't remember the number, just the FS part. This allows to to add 2 more Control Switches/Footswitch's to the GT100 making it possible to set 1 Switch, let's say, a Tap Tempo and the 2nd for a Tuner. That way you don't have to hold down 2 Switches at a time to access the Tuner. Are you able to add the FS-6 Switch to the GT1000 to give you even extra On/Off or Tempo and Tuner access? If you can add this Switch, it DEFINITELY frees up what's on the 1000, giving you 2 more access areas. 2nd question: The GT100 also gives you the ability to press 2 Controls Simultaneously, allowing to to view the unit, making it look EXACTLY as a Floorboard would look. It lays out your Effects with the corresponding Control Switches underneath, allowing you to view it as if you had a Complete, 100lb, Multi Thousand Dollars of Pedals at your feet. Does the GT1000 allow you to change what's shown on the Screen? Basically, giving the opportunity to actually SEE your Effects as if they are the actual Pedals. I'm ready to snag one of these as of like, as soon as my local BIG BOX STORE opens up Monday morning. I'm tired of lugging around my 2 Ton Pedalboard and 1 Ton Amp, along with the MULTIPLE Axes!!! I'm ready to snag my GT of choice and my Guitar, hop on a Jet back home to Memphis, TN to jam with some old friends!!! Thank you for your time, information and for making your Videos!! They're a TREMENDOUS job!!
Excellent video, this is the first one that I've seen that showed how to maneuver the model without a long speech and that the speaker blocks can be moved closer to the amp blocks which for many would not be obvious. When I first got my GT-1000 I had already been using a Helix where these blocks are close by. I have two major gripes about the GT-1000 user interface. 1) When in memory mode one can see the patch numbers but not the names, so you are flying blind. The Helix or Headrush provide both. 2) One can't get rid of the blocks that are not used, like that long chain of delay blocks. I guess the reason is to preallocate DSP resources. There are better ways to accomplish this without screen clutter. The Helix and Headrush do a better job at that. I ditched the Headrush and kept the Helix. Now I've got the GT-1000 and expect to keep that and the Helix. The compressors on the GT-1000 don't thump and pop at high compression ratios and gain, which is a very good thing and the competition could learn about.
Haha I bought the ME-50 in the early 2000s and still use it! Can't get rid of the damned thing because it just does everything well as a parallel effects unit. I don't use the distortions anymore but the Tone Mod section is key to getting a close match to your amp's tone so that the effects are pretty transparent when I put the pedal down. Actually I lied, I do use the distortions when I run it straight into the input of my practice amp for on-the-go demonstrations and those are still very useful, since they basically built all of the Boss distortions and then some into that distortion section. It's still a great floorboard!
Awesome video as per usual! Do you think you'll be making a video at some point going into detail about your recording studio, equipment and how you record songs etc? Loving the content!
Speaking of the N4, I think Nuno still use his N4 with BOSS GT-8. My friend were at Extreme concert in Bangkok this Wednesday, and he took a picture of it. I guess it's more about the habit more than the sound quality though....
I’m on day 3 trying to figure out the looper. I have the Fs-5L I was told i was needed. And I’m just trying to set it up so the CTL 1 button starts and ends the loop and the 5L plays the loop or vice versa
Hey Rebea... one of my measures for a good video is the amount of anger I have for when one of those advertisers interrupts the flow of what I was watching. And I have to say... after this video, I’m seriously considering an anger management class! Well done lol.
16:55 Has anybody noticed that the chorus hasn't been assigned and it goes with more delay instead of chorus ! Is it a bug on the system's unit ? Rabea was like wtf is going on ! I think this unit has some issues ! and plus I ve been using GT100 for just few times to try it the sounds sucks at most times so it's not the big time to record with it good songs or guitar solos etc ! the power supply blows up when I tried to plug it after few days not using it ! and the ext loops feature's horrible and nobody actually shows us how it sounds when you plug a pedal or device using ext loops ! compares to zoom G9.2tt wich's pretty old now but the ext loops are awesome ! I was thinking about buying this GT1000 but I changed my mind sadly
I had the Boss gt100 and it was probably the the easiest to operate, and I’ve owned several other floor units, now I haven’t actually tried the new boss Katana stuff or this unit, but my main gripe about the gt100 was it sounded kinda sterile as compared to the Hd500, so I did end up selling it and buying a Hd500x but I have simply grown tired of the way the editing works, I’m the kinda guy who likes to do all the editing on the unit itself, I think I’d really like to try this unit, seems kinda pricey for a couple hundred more I can get the Ax8 used so idk 😐
Great vid, so clear. How did you assign control 1 to flip from one side to the other, that is get the signal chain on the top to flip down to the bottom signal chain? Thanks!
Christoph K. Agreed. Helix sounds awful. These actually sound like legit fx and not artificial like line 6 garbage. Wish the interface was better. But then again, how often am I looking at the interface when playing a gig.
Bro pl show how to do left right perameter of both outputs because ur patch of stereo when u played both channel on it was not sounding accual stereo only deley was sounding Lto R ...thanks for sharing .
Great stuff as always....i too have the gt-1000 but if i can give a request......im considering getting the victory v4 kraken and as you have both the gt-1000 and the v4 kraken is it possible for you to do a video on how to incorporate the v4 kraken into the gt-1000 with frfr or the Seymour powerstage?...would be much appreciated 👌...keep up the fantastic work.
just like mixing a song you gotta work with it, a few db cut boosts and q, this unit will do well in the studio, live you got no say over the venue or engineer, trick is get a pa speaker jbl maybe and tweak against a live drummer, then feed out from the stage, all good
Hello! I want to ask 2 things about GT-1000. First, Im rarely using the bluetooth function, but yesterday when i was practising and I wanted to use metronome, i was trying to control the metronome via bluetooth and i coulnt see any choice that you could control it, even turn it on or off. Im the only one that cant use the metronome via bluetooth or its not an option at GT-1000? Second, Its really weird for me that i cant store 2 patches with different output select. For most of my patches i use the "Recording" OUTPUT, however I really love the cleans of the JC-120 with the output of JC-120 return (its a lot different than when i have the output on "recording") , but seems that i cant store it, as when i change the outpout , it goes for all the patches.. Is it strange that such expensive unit doesnt have this function or I am doing something wrong?
Hey Rabea. Great demo. I grabbed the GT and paired it with my Katana Artist. Great rig. However, I'd like to see an additional drive block and reverb block added. Are you aware of any updates that wilm add these?
Hey Rabea, big fan! Quick question. I've been trying to find some information regarding effect spill over between patch changing. In your time with the unit, did you come to discover this as a function?
Thanks Rabea great review I use the GT100 just for the effects through the Laney ironheart would love to her what written patches sound like A great clean tone a very high kinda Djent tone a great metal tone and lead tone oh I must say this review is better than the Andertons cheers !!!!!!!😎😙
Can I chain multiple enities of the same effect modeled differently within the chain(like put 2 or 3 choruses in the chain)? I'm used to chaining stompboxes, not that familiar with the multieffects processors.
I'm using a BOSS GT-001 and I'd love a video about tips for mixing virtual guitars, making some of them sound less compressed and more open, anyone know any such videos?
Can you demo the stompboxmode Rabea !! I’ve tweeked every thing I need in the first 5 patches !! Not even updated cos I don’t wanna lose what I have 🙏🏻 Thanks 🎶
So what made you choose the helix over this for the frog leap tor? From what I have heard this can emulate individual string tunings similar to a variax right?
Hey bea! Great demo as always :) since you‘re using the helix in your band with Leo and now got your hands on the GT-1000: whats your favorite product? The helix lt is a bit cheaper than the GT-1000 - do you think its worth the money? (Even though this vid is sponsored by Boss, just want to hear your personal preference) Keep it up :)
The change of parameters assign to exp pedal... Have one error, you cannot change or switch a fx on a exact Act-rng-lo or hi value. If you want change a fx on heel and back with pedal the change "Always Switch in the Middle of Exp pedal" 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
I don't know if it sounded in the room like it does through TH-cam, but this sounds surprisingly good. I'm kinda shocked because I didnt expect that good of sound quality. Hmmmm
Rabea--Thanks! Is sound quality better or same as DD-500, RV-500, and MD-500? Are all of the presets in these units represented in the GT1000, or a subset only? Since cost is similar, do the separate units have any advantage over the GT1000?
This is exactly everything in those units, plus all the extra stuff like ODs and IRs. People bitch about the price, but when you consider the above it makes sense
Hey Folks/Rabea - tossing up on this or the FM3? Never used Fractal but have some multi effect board in the past. What are your thoughts regarding the two and what would be everyone's and your preference. Lets disregard the price comparison though. Thoughts?
@@patrickharris4262 yes I like the tones I get from the gt1000, not all amps sound as with any other modeler but for me I am satisfied with what I get, I run it straight through a pair of KRK 8 monitors.
I know I can set this up to run some effects in front of my amp and some in my camp's effects loop. In another patch, can I bypass my preamp and run the Boss's amp models? I love my amp tone but a single setup with the option of my tube amp head or models would be the best of both worlds.
They blew an opportunity to make a nice graphical app that is fun to work with to configure your patches. But what always bothers me about these digital modeling workstations is that there are tons of videos about how to configure patches and what the default patches sound like, but very little discussion of the changes that face the average guitarist who is accustomed to using a guitar amp and pedals. Sure, the 4 cable method allows you to keep using your guitar amp, but you generally will need to disable cab sim which immediately loses some of the value of your expensive purchase. Or you have to ditch your guitar amp for an FRFR amp/speaker which is a whole other expense not to mention that you may actually LOVE your guitar amp and be torn about NOT using it. Lots of discussion to be had on that topic and not enough people going in-depth on practical live rigs with these things.
I've got one of those ME 50s and even that old box is full of wonderful tones, became a boss fan in weeks!
Absolutely the best review and walkthrough of the Boss GT-1000 on TH-cam - thanks!
8:18 I didn't notice the background music until this point. I love that jam so much, I always come back to it when I want my jaw to drop. Great demo!
Good timing, lunch break and Rabea. I'm a simple man. And I like this.
thank you for not relying on theatrics or funny voices for views! Your videos are always so relaxing to watch! ... as well as informative of course
I have serious nostalgia for the Boss ME50
the ME-50? you young whipper snapper. I remember when the ME-5 was out around the same time as the RP-1. omg, I'm old.
I had an ME-5 when it was in the music shops I think it listed for 600 bucks or something. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. Analog distortion digital effects., not sure why they don't do that anymore.
@@FunknGrvn me too...I think it was $700 when my dad bought it for me
still my fav after 20 years.

Hi Rabea, thanks for being the only reviewer if this pedal who has been able to explain how to seperate different sims to different sides. Its simple once you know... I knew it had to be easy. Very informative and straightforward. Thank you Rabea!
I got a gt1000 and it's fantastic.
Seeing that 5150 and 5150 II still in your arsenal brings a smile to my face. It gets a lot of hate, but one of the best high gain amps of all time.
Awesome video Rabea! Thanks for putting together a well thought out explanation and walk-through mate!

Rabea, are you still using the GT1000? Are you using it live? Would you be able to do an update video on how you're using it now? 🤙🏾

Cam you use the guitar drive effects , and use like bass preamp/ effects with to not loose the low end please?
Can I connect an electric violin to GT-1000 and then connect the GT-1000 to the guitar amplifier or does it damage the GT-1000?
Can I turn off the internal cab and connect my own into the GT-1000?
Wow! BOSS have been doing some serious homework. This thing sounds fantastic.
I might have to go ty one out sometime 👍
A-mazing! Rabea can you run Beatbuddy alongside this pedal?
im on the fence about upgrading my gt100 to either the gt1k or the helix LT, this helps make a decision. thanks bea!
just like mixing a song you gotta work with it, a few db cut boosts and q, this unit will do well in the studio, live you got no say over the venue or engineer, trick is get a pa speaker jbl maybe and tweak against a live drummer, then feed out from the stage, all good
Nice informations! Could you tell us whether the whammy 0-8 octave is digital or analog?
I still own my Boss GT-8
Hey Rabea, big fan! Quick question. I've been trying to find some information regarding effect spill over between patch changing. In your time with the unit, did you come to discover this as a function?
Thanks Rabea great review I use the GT100 just for the effects through the Laney ironheart would love to her what written patches sound like
A great clean tone a very high kinda Djent tone a great metal tone and lead tone oh I must say this review is better than the Andertons cheers !!!!!!!😎😙
Can I chain multiple enities of the same effect modeled differently within the chain(like put 2 or 3 choruses in the chain)? I'm used to chaining stompboxes, not that familiar with the multieffects
processors.
Not even updated cos I don’t wanna lose what I have 🙏🏻 Thanks 🎶
which one would you prefer the helix or the boss ... Ampsoundwise?
So what made you choose the helix over this for the frog leap tor? From what I have heard this can emulate individual string tunings similar to a variax right?
BOSS GT1000 has a noise gate system for OVER DRIVE EFFECTS with guitars of singles pickups?
Hey bea! Great demo as always :) since you‘re using the helix in your band with Leo and now got your hands on the GT-1000: whats your favorite product? The helix lt is a bit cheaper than the GT-1000 - do you think its worth the money? (Even though this vid is sponsored by Boss, just want to hear your personal preference)
Keep it up :)
Can you reverse the loop on the GT 1000 during playback?
Hi! Where is the blend knop to blend the guitar effects with the bass ,for the low end please. I really love the guitar effects with bass on it
Hey Folks/Rabea - tossing up on this or the FM3? Never used Fractal but have some multi effect board in the past. What are your thoughts regarding the two and what would be everyone's and your preference. Lets disregard the price comparison though. Thoughts?
i dont have FM3 (yet) but i have ax8 and gt1000, both are great units, i tend to use gt1000 more though since it has better dsp and can do stereo
@@ahmedrashed78 Are you happy with the tones from the GT1000? What are you playing through?
@@patrickharris4262 yes I like the tones I get from the gt1000, not all amps sound as with any other modeler but for me I am satisfied with what I get, I run it straight through a pair of KRK 8 monitors.
What's the whammy effect like? Does it tune down or up without artefacts and good tracking?
I have one of these and no matter what i do the distortion always has a digital fuzz sound to it. Not in this vid however
Roll off, use ur eq
Have you put your own presets up on boss tone central or can we download them from your website? I'd love to get those!
I'd like to think that it's 21th century now and I don't need to use this type of controls to have custom sound and many setups
I know I can set this up to run some effects in front of my amp and some in my camp's effects loop. In another patch, can I bypass my preamp and run the Boss's amp models? I love my amp tone but a single setup with the option of my tube amp head or models would be the best of both worlds.
Thanks for the review! Could you tell me what kind of subwoofer you have, the white one?
Hi. Can i connect the GT-1000 to an amp and into the PA at the same time?
Are you going to do a video with your new guitar?
Hey Rabea! what do you use to listen to the audio when demoing things like this? do you just monitor with desk monitors? Thanks in advance!
Think this would be a solid unit for a small apartment having a valve amp isn’t viable thanks for the video.
