    For anyone who is interested, I have just started using my GT1000 thru two BOSS Nextone stage amps using 7 cable method and the pedal is finally sounding like it should. The latest update adds the nextone stage as an AIRD output option and it sounds incredible and feels just as good. Tons of grunt, I can't wait to get them cranked on stage, it's a pretty killer rig now. Not ultra cheap but for a pro player it's well worth it IMO. Also the nextone is a pretty decent amp on its own and can be tweaked and customized to sound and feel real good. Highly recommend giving this setup a go if you are a tone hound, it just works.

    The main thing here is that the presets actually sound great. The Helix has absurdly bad presets and takes ages to learn how to get the right sound from it. I was a big fan of the boss MS3 when I used it for gigging. Boss has super good effects and drives.
    I run Helix pre-amp models through a Fryette Power Station into a Marshall 2536A cab. Can you take the cab sims and power stage off of the presets?

    I never thought I would say this, but....that Boss multi sounds pretty good.
    AIRD > COSM and it isn't even close.
    UPDATE 03/28/2023: revisiting this vid as I'm considering a floor unit and.........I think this unit sounds better than all of the competition. Yes, all of it.
    The semi-rigid effects structure is a little annoying.....but I think I can work with it.

    I had the Boss gt100 and it was probably the the easiest to operate, and I’ve owned several other floor units, now I haven’t actually tried the new boss Katana stuff or this unit, but my main gripe about the gt100 was it sounded kinda sterile as compared to the Hd500, so I did end up selling it and buying a Hd500x but I have simply grown tired of the way the editing works, I’m the kinda guy who likes to do all the editing on the unit itself,
    I think I’d really like to try this unit, seems kinda pricey for a couple hundred more I can get the Ax8 used so idk 😐

    Hello! I want to ask 2 things about GT-1000.
    First, Im rarely using the bluetooth function, but yesterday when i was practising and I wanted to use metronome, i was trying to control the metronome via bluetooth and i coulnt see any choice that you could control it, even turn it on or off. Im the only one that cant use the metronome via bluetooth or its not an option at GT-1000?
    Second, Its really weird for me that i cant store 2 patches with different output select. For most of my patches i use the "Recording" OUTPUT, however I really love the cleans of the JC-120 with the output of JC-120 return (its a lot different than when i have the output on "recording") , but seems that i cant store it, as when i change the outpout , it goes for all the patches.. Is it strange that such expensive unit doesnt have this function or I am doing something wrong?

    What you say @ the beginning is not really correct coz the curent Boss AIRD tEk is heritated from the good old COSM being arounf 4 ages (as you said) but Fractal N Line 6 (kind of) have developed as well this technology of "Analog Circuitry Object Modelling" which basically try to create pieces of codes to recreate the sonic impact of each analog components embedded into a classic amp or a stompbox ...in order to recreate from scratch N not from the final result the accurate tone of any real circuitry amp or analog effects ...so Boss has been 4 sure the very pioneer of this approach of modelling BUT is not alone right now on this ...Fractal with its AXE FX modelers is actually the most advanced in this approach N that's why all the "Real Pros" buy their stuffs

    Rabea, I have rented the GT1000 twice and each time I haven't found the amp models flexible enough to cover a wide range of music. All the digital multieffects seem to be focused on high gain where lots of mistakes can be covered up . There is no attempt to cover low to medium jangle and crunch sounds convincingly . And even with Heavy OD, the sound is always harsh. I have used tons of eq cuttoffs which never rid the sound of the annoying fizz. Also, boss hasnt provided an output selection for FRFR powered and running through headrush monitors is as bad as Helix, Headrush and to a lesser extent AX8. Is there any real convincing Digital multi effects out there or coming up?

    I am running the 4 cable method with gt1000 and a mark 1 5150.
    I have all the cables in the right place and I also have a trs cable running from the amp control of the gt1000 in order to change channels on the 5150 (Channel select and FX loop off/on). This cable is going into the 'remote switch' at the rear of the 5150.
    The clean channel seems to work ok... However when I switch to drive channel I loose the effects through the loop. So the switch must be turning the FX loop off on the amp at the same time? I have tried changing the amp control parameters on the gt1000 but I have not had success yet.
    Also... I cannot seem to control the clean volume at all. It is set at a certain volume and will not change with either pre or post gain. Gain volume is fine... No issues.
    Appreciate that I could fix this by using the 5150 channel changer, but I am trying to contain everything in the gt1000 pedal.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

    A message for boss: I appreciated that you 've put the shimmer effect on this unit, but i'm also angry with you. The list of amp is too short instead of an helix or fractal, there's no cabinet at all, there's no filter as the korg A3, poor distortions model.. You cannot take the same money as the other major brands, and reduce all this specs. You must increase all this features with firmware on next months at least! You have to do it, if you want to survive in the FX field!

  • @Neil-Aspinall
    @Neil-Aspinall 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Problem with all these multi EFX units is you need a pilot's license to drive them. This is why stand alone units will never die. OK for bed room use I suppose?

    • @LaniakeaLeathercrafts
      @LaniakeaLeathercrafts 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can program them to be much easier for live use than a standard pedal board would be. Plus it's much more practical and consistent for a lot of players.

    • @natfingerboard
      @natfingerboard 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neil Aspinall Yeah its complex but that's so you can design whatever sound you want. When you are playing live you are just using the banks and presets you've made, just like any other pedal board.

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage of these is that you can have much more variety and settings in your live performance. A single button press can change the combination of pedals you have on, the type and even the individual settings too. Of course you could have a 'few' delay pedals with different settings for example and turn each on/off as necessary but with a multi-fx, you can have the entire chain as a single patch. Its a lot easier than bending down inbetween songs to adjust the settings.
      If you have songs with a different delays or even just different different delay timings, different types of reverb or intensity, then its much easier to have a patch set up than have multiple reverb or delay pedals all set differently as 'stand alones' are not that flexible in a live environment. They are either on or and if you need different settings, you either need a 2nd (or more) pedal or bend down and tweak the settings. With these, you can just switch patch - you can save and name them too so you could have a completely different patch for every song in your set - just move up/down in the bank.
      If all you have is a couple of pedals that are ether on or off in your set, or some 'tech' backstage to make any changes then maybe it is better to have individual pedals.
      Pro's and Con's to both in my opinion but I doubt you would spend over £800 on a 'bedroom' only pedal solution and it is meant for the 'professional' gigging musician.

    Sounds great, but Boss seriously need to up their UI-game. Showing all possible slots of the chain and scrolling through single line parameter pages is just awefull. They obviously have great engineers, they need to hire some interface designers ffs. The mobile app looks awefull too. They only got it right with the TONE STUDIO software.

    • @GuitarsAndSynths
      @GuitarsAndSynths 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same with Kemper. Kemper has the best tone but worst interface from 1980. I think that Kemper and Boss need to hire better UI engineers to create a better color screen and user experience.

      This is probably my biggest hangup on purchasing. I debate if its just worth waiting for them to release a new multi effects board with better UI but that could be many more years for all i know.

    • @TheDilligan
      @TheDilligan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I want this thing for the sound and processing power but every time I look at how bad the UI is and how much of a pain it is to do literally anything, I think about the easy-peasy ME-80 (which I already own) and consider buying a Helix LT, which is intuitive as heck.
      My one issue with the helix is the processing power. It doesn't work at 97khz. And if they wanted to in the future, I imagine they'd have to release new hardware to handle it, and it would probably be like $2000. Meanwhile Boss already has the processing power and they could potentially release a major update that fixes all of the UI issues. More processing power = more headroom for updates with higher quality modeling over the next decade.
