The best thing about the bluetooth is when you're playing live and everyone in the crowd pulls out their phone and starts changing your sound. Makes the audience feel more interactive.
The first thing I thought when I see these app controlled pedals as a person into computers is "I can now hack band's effects during gigs". If you're on stage with a rival band wait for them to build up to an epic break down then switch over to a beautiful acoustic emulated pitch shifted sound that makes their guitars sound like harpsichords.
I was a Line 6 POD series player but switched to the BOSS GT units when the HD series came out(not that one HAS to choose just one) because I felt like they threw the metal players under the bus in favor of all these 'boo-teek' amps... Then when the whole 'DSP limit reached' thing came out, I said "you've got to be kidding me?!" and never looked back. I am a BOSS fanboy and will be for life! Ola + BOSS = METAL SUPREMACY!
Similar Story. Got burned because I bought a POD right after POD Farm was discontinued. Same story with Fender and their Mustang V2 software. Boss has never burned me like that. They don't have as many premade patches, but complete access to their entire inventory of pedals and such in their program and community patches you can download.
I have the GT1 for a first-time practice processor, I'm very happy with everything I'm able to do and it's taught me about FX chains. I'll more than likely upgrade to this one if there's not a newer one, Boss to me feels like the best when it comes to entry level gear. Thanks for your awesome video Ola :)
I like Boss. Everything is straight forward and they have very well made software to support them. Top of the line for lower price points. It's part of why I like Schecter so much, you get insane value for the price.
The lag issuse with other products like this is the why Metallica uses one AXFX for clean and 1 for distorted tones and just switch between the 2 with a A/B switcher for their gigs live
It makes sense to do. It's a Pedal Board of two switches and less worries about whether shit is wired properly/less potential things to have go wrong. Simplified is always best.
@phnelson033 it could be anything in the loop, or if someone already has a decent pedalboard, maybe it knocks 3 other pedals off, and pays for itself and provides extra flexibility.
I have this board and I love it ! It feels very natural when u play very tube like. The distortions are unreal and I would put it up there with a Mesa Boogie that’s how fuckjn awesome this board sounds!!
That bluetooth connection and looper functionality is sweet. Can walk around stage or into the crowd and tweak your sound from your phone, a very good use of all tech now.
if there's one thing that I do in my TH-cam life, I never stop rewatching all your videos.... I did comment sometime back about how you wud approach on twerking into Bias FX nd Amp to get a good tone and EQ, but then I realized you already did make several videos about it...dumbass me, for missing that out, my bad... ive always been a fan of Boss pedals, and this video makes me want to buy the Boss GT1000 …. awesome as always !!!!
Again a great review! I was planning on getting a Helix LT by the end of the year, but now it has a contender. A shootout in the "budget" range (around 900€ price range) like Helix LT vs. GT-1000 vs. etc. would be nice!
@David Lake Helix modulation effects sucks, they are so plastic and digital, I had one LT and sold it because of that. In this case with Boss, the saturation is very bad but the modulations are beautiful.. so? What to do?
@David Lake to H9? :O That's crazy LOL I used to have 2 H9 before with other pedals before I moved to Fractal. I didn't like the modulation effects but I loved the delays, reverbs and H9 exclusive algorithms. I will try the Boss GT-1000 for a while. Then I think I will move to AXE FX III, just need to save some money. cheers...
I just don't trust Line 6. Everything is supposedly the best ever when released but nobody ever continues to use their products. I got burned by PODs and them discontinuing POD Farm while still selling new versions of the hardware. PODs were nothing without POD Farm, the built in was bullshit.
The nice thing is that what's on your channel reflects the actual quality of the product. A lot of youtube channels coloring the sound or understating the quality. I bought Mooer Ge 200 after watching your video and I was not disappointed. After uploading my IR Mooer GE 200 seems even better sounding from this Boss.
Ola! You are amazing playing the guitar, explaining and reviewing stuff! Thank you for this video! I'm in! I'm getting one thanks to you!!! Be safe man, greetings from Texas USA!!
The problem with multi effects units like this (IMO) is the time spent fiddling with the unit takes away from playing the instrument. I doubt Ola would ever use this live lol 😂 Great video Ola ! Look out for the otters 🤘
Well, I don't think you fiddle with it while you're playing/practicing. You only fiddle with it while you're trying to find a sound you like. Really, multi FX stuff like this only have a ton of settings so that you have variety to find the one that you really want to use regularly, then set it and forget it. (It's the living room players like me that will never properly practice again. 😜) Nita Strauss uses one of these live, but she has it set up like a professional. 1-Clean, 2-Rhythm, 3-Lead, etc... She's not messing with amp and cab sounds while performing. She has it set to a sound she likes and uses it, just like others have their preferred amp head into their preferred cab, and they leave it. She even said it does a bunch of stuff that she's never going to learn how to use, but it does what she needs, so that she can go play the national anthem in some football stadium without having to lug a bunch of equipment around. Just FX unit to PA, GO!
Great review Ola! I have a plan already, I will wait for like... 4 year or so, and then buy this unit when it gets durty cheep... Hell, I still have a GT-8 it's a DAMN good unit when you spend 5 years of tweeking the sound! Boss rules!
This is kind of the problem with BOSS multi effects units. It took years of learning and an excellent PDF tutorial made by other users and distributed on Yahoo groups to get a decent sound out of my GT-3. Even then it needed impulses to get a final push for a good metal tone. That waiting thing is not a bad plan at all. About a week later when I bought the GT-3, the price of it and the then flagship GT-5 had a huge drop. Might also not be a bad idea getting one used because many people don't have the patience for these things. Seen a lot of BOSS multi effects units being sold on local (one of them Nordic lands) musicians' message boards over the years.
Distorted80 Exactly, you are absolutely right! The GT 8 i have was used lots of years, I use it now even more years! It still works! Hope the same build quality is used for this one as well! Cheers!
Great vid again and there are so many equipment choices like this and different amps. It would be awsome to see you tweeking settings on Boss Katana 100/artist, how to make metal tones that chugs?
I'll love this channel regardless of if you say something or not like something I do that's supposed to be the beauty of America we dont have to agree with one another but people really forget about that
Wow Great video now i need to buy do GT-1000 HAHAHAHAH I LIke this video, it gave me a light on the dark road to get metal on gt 100, it helped me a lot. But I hope someday you can do a metal video with the GT -100. Best regards Thaks
Thanks Ola. Another inspiring video that makes me play more metal and writing metal songs! You are so natural and fun and I have many laughs through Your videos:)
Great in depth review! Not something I'll be picking up but good to know about then if I ever end up working with one. Love that dB meter in the background as well!
The Bluetooth editing reminds me of something I've been wanting to see for ages: A rack effects unit with wireless Bluetooth footswitching! What the hell do we need these midi cables for? It's 2018!
Why not review ZOOM G5n processor review? Btw Great review as always. You make everything sound awesome. Is there any post processing involved in this in daw
No dude, even for us home playing guitar players, I hate that lag in switching from clean to distortion and so forth. I used to own a Johnson J-Station amp modeling unit. It only had two distortion sound that I loved, very warm and it chugged. The rest of the distortions sounded like crap. The digital delay and chorus was superb. BUUUUTTTT: When you scrolled through the effects it made a loud pop sound in your amp going from one effect to another. The popping sound wasn't too bad running it through my practice amp. But damn, when I ran it through a PA System it was horrible. I had a friend who was running a bar, and he let me run my Johnson J Station through his house P.A. and the popping was so horrific I thought it would blow his speakers. The "rectifier" distortion was the best line direct distortion to this day. It didn't even sound like a rectifier amp, but damn it was a great sound. The "solo distortion" was great too ...great for everything and not just soloing. I used to make recordings on a 4 track cassette recordings. I had to use different tracks for clean vs distortion parts to avoid having that "pop" in my recording from switching effects. Perhaps home players put up with the "lag" and "pops" because of lack of money to get more expensive gear. Tolerance does not equate satisfaction and happiness. For live settings, to avoid those pops I would just use floor pedals. Never was a big fan of muliti effects pedals. They always sounded plastic to me. Floor pedals and a Class A Tube amplifier or hybrid Tube/Solid State. Have to admit, I really thought this was going to blow chunks. Pretty damned descent sounding. Makes me want to get one
I think this would act as a great FX unit and not as a full replacement for a rig. It suffers from the same problems the GT-10/100 did. Same inorganic fuzzy distortions which sound pretty digital compared to other units like the Helix/Axe Fx/ AX-8 and even the Hd 500X. It's better than the predecessors that Boss have dished out but it's still not good enough considering the huge price tag. Don't get me wrong it is superior when it comes to FX and with the superior DSP of this unit, this should be a better buy if you have an amp rig and want to have a substitute for your FX pedal rig.
For pre/amp/cab simulation I would pay a bit more and get the Helix LT instead (or the Axe FX if I lived in the US, price goes up with at least 25% getting it over here) For just stompboxes and an amps own drive I would rather go with the Helix Effects or the GT100 in a 4 cable setup. The GT100 has some good effects, and it is really easy to set the sounds on the unit itself, amp simulation wise I find that the HD500X sounds better, yet far from the real deal. I don't think that the GT1000 is bad though, in the end it all depends on what covers a players needs at the lowest price, which doesn't only mean the tone of the unit.
Looks like it does hi gain I have the GT100 but use it 4cable method just for the effects the tones you created sounded awesome the next video 4cable method will be interesting cheers Ola 😎😎😎😎😎😀👍👍👍👍
Very cool Ola. My thing is, 1) its 1k us dollars and 2) how much better is it than my Axe FX Ultra or my Bias Amp rack etc. I just dont know if its a justified1k purchase. Thanks Ola, Anthony Palumbo
Ola Englund agree with you for sure. I have most of my stuff hooked up 4 cable and it just adds so much more. I don't know who I'm kidding,. I will end up with it lmao. Thanks Ola!
When you make the 4 cable method video of this boss unit, can you compare it to the ax 8? Or at least talk about the pros and cons of the two? I'm very interested in switching to a four cable method setup with boogie amp
I'll be sticking with my gt-100 running through a bugera tube head into v30 speakers. All of which together costs less than the gt-1000. If you need all the emulation and like to go direct, I can see using it. But if you're already micing your own cab, it's too much redundancy.
Hello Ola! Great vid, congratulations! One question from a metalhead: looking forward to Black Friday deals to get an amp modeller, but I have a big problem: - Love Kemper Stage's profiling and sharing capability. - Love GT 1000 core's size and price point. - Love Neural Cortex's promising specs and UI based on nothing yet. What should I do? Any thoughts? (I can afford any of them, but I am definitely not rich 😆) Thank you in advance!
Ola do you still recommend this product today, or what you recommends from high end like Quad Cortex to less expensive. I my daughters ages 10-13 are playing Rock and Metal. Looking for a guitar gear pedal for when we out of state and can't bring my guitar amp etc.?
Another great Ola demo. But it was hard to tell about the lack of lag when switching channels, while youtube has put an auto-lag between your video and your audio. About a quarter of a second, but enough to ruin what you were trying to convey.
Thanks for watching guys, SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!
Yes conquer of waman
Ola Englund will you do a video on the MXR Flanger doubler and Dimebags tunings
gotta confess that due to work I don't watch much, just listen to you noodle around.
Better than spotify!
I'm 10 years metal fan.I'm trying to play metal myself.does BOSS SD-1 SUPER overdrive can help making metal tone?
SMASHED!
The best thing about the bluetooth is when you're playing live and everyone in the crowd pulls out their phone and starts changing your sound. Makes the audience feel more interactive.
WOW is that a thing? I mean it needs a password
@@EchoVerse243 its not a thing
As if you can easily control the device that way.
@@imandan1966 lol thank you for the sanity

Have to admit, the loop for sound tweaking is genius.
Mike Patton and Louis Cole both got song ideas from your comment...
LOL 😆
Hahaha 🤣😂
I was a Line 6 POD series player but switched to the BOSS GT units when the HD series came out(not that one HAS to choose just one) because I felt like they threw the metal players under the bus in favor of all these 'boo-teek' amps... Best review I've found that actually shows this unit can do METAL!
02:24 I was waiting for it since I pressed play on this video. Thanks for not disappointing me. Rawk on!
I love that these new ones have inputs. It makes wonders for the tone.
Well here we go...the "inputs for everything" crowd starts preaching again. It's basically like Klons and Dumbles.

Wow finally! effects modeling unit which is able to switch withou lag! nice!

Best Guitar and equipment videos on TH-cam hands down! Ola is the best! 👍
Right on! Thanks for the tip on placing the looper out front. Obvious. Just never thought to use it to tweak my sound!
Now I want a "Conqueror of Wamen" t-shirt with your face on it Ola.
Haha, great video and demo too.
Very cool review. The Gt-1000 was already my favourite, you just make it even more!

Ola - can we get your Metal Presets for the GT-1000??
It´s great to see this videos. Really good review Ola
The loop feature while tweaking via the app is what sold me on this. Awesome vid Ola.
that almost burp "wahaaaahahahahaa" made me laugh. love the channel Ola, it's the only one I care to watch.
I was waitiing for this review! I'm looking for a multieffects like this. That's very nice video, and the clean sound is awesome.
Thanks Ola!

What sounds do pigs in sweden make ? Is It nöff nöff ?^^
That's a badass tone
I am buying one as a result of this video. Great demo thank you.
Hey Ola... can you start adding the price of the equipment when you close the review out :)
Wow Great video now i need to buy do GT-1000 HAHAHAHAH
I LIke this video, it gave me a light on the dark road to get metal on gt 100, it helped me a lot.
But I hope someday you can do a metal video with the GT -100. Best regards
Thaks
Thanks Ola. Another inspiring video that makes me play more metal and writing metal songs! You are so natural and fun and I have many laughs through Your videos:)
Am I the only one who keeps staring at the DB Meter all through the video?
Mark Don me!
ME TOO!
no, guy, me too!!!
Me to
Same here. Every time.
i wanted boss gt1000 but then i saw some YT videos and i din´t like it. But now after Ola´s video i want it aggain.
Peter Valašík a gain........
Maybe you should check out the Zoom G3xn. Thats a beast.
Gergő Ollé doesnt have fx loop and i want to use it with 4cm.
A comparison between this and line6 helix would be cool
Hey Ola, my fist comment so i'm pretty proud of it! - Give us your 2 cents - HELIX or BOSS ? - I'm on the verge of buying one. Cheers mate!
I can't wait for the next video whoop whoop!!
I feel so special
More like SPOCIAL. :D
Great in depth review! Not something I'll be picking up but good to know about then if I ever end up working with one. Love that dB meter in the background as well!
Looks pretty cool ,I haven't been interested in much gear since I got the kemper but this might be worth checking out.
The Bluetooth editing reminds me of something I've been wanting to see for ages: A rack effects unit with wireless Bluetooth footswitching! What the hell do we need these midi cables for? It's 2018!
I must say.. great video Ola...
God damnit Ola, just make us a metal shootout video between this and the “others”
Incredible tones, killer rhythms, quite funny, too.
Why not review ZOOM G5n processor review? Btw Great review as always. You make everything sound awesome. Is there any post processing involved in this in daw
Yes! Do the ZOOM!
Yesss, pleaseee
I use one. Yes please

Like a Boss 😎
Great video Ola, any chance you could do something similar on the GT001 desk unit?
You got it sounding pretty good. Sounds better than my GT 100 though my Marshall.
This Thing seems great :p i love boss i bought the katana and its awesome
Your a cool dude I like your vids ,how does this unit compare to fractal fx3 and line 6.i still have my boss gt8 unit looking to upgrade.
Sickkkk riff around 11:26 from the dead eye what an album... :D
try the zoom G5N Ola, for 199 $ this unit has some killer tones, provided you spend some time to learn to dial them in.
199? Really? Brand New?
Just got the zoom g5n. I like it alot.
That's great, but how about GT-100?
Looks like it does hi gain I have the GT100 but use it 4cable method just for the effects the tones you created sounded awesome the next video 4cable method will be interesting cheers Ola 😎😎😎😎😎😀👍👍👍👍
ouhhh yeah, that patttern switch without cut is really good !
I dream of having this boss gt1000. But the price tag is off the roof.. 🔥😤
@James Florio wahahaha. Sure man.. Will be waiting. 😂😂
the 2 dislikes are from "the Others"
damn homeboi, what's that sweet riff at 11.30?
OpticalNZ its off the, The Dead Eye album from The Haunted but forget which song
"A little too old guy sounding to me" hahahahahahahahaha

Nemesis Guitars exactly! I have same thoughts here!
I think it’s up to you really, I have yet to try it out in a 4 cable method and I think that is where this unit is going to shine the most.
Ola Englund agree with you for sure. I have most of my stuff hooked up 4 cable and it just adds so much more. I don't know who I'm kidding,. I will end up with it lmao. Thanks Ola!
Hey doodles. Yes the one and only lol.
Nemesis Guitars
How are you liking the Bias Rack?I got one a couple weeks ago.
Nice review
When you make the 4 cable method video of this boss unit, can you compare it to the ax 8? Or at least talk about the pros and cons of the two? I'm very interested in switching to a four cable method setup with boogie amp
Can you do an episode on the new Boss GX-100 ?
I'll be sticking with my gt-100 running through a bugera tube head into v30 speakers. All of which together costs less than the gt-1000. If you need all the emulation and like to go direct, I can see using it. But if you're already micing your own cab, it's too much redundancy.
Oh snap, think this unit takes the cake for me!
Hi what would you recommend...gt1000 or ge300? Or any other multi fx pedal for metal and clean tones?
Hello Ola!
Great vid, congratulations!
One question from a metalhead: looking forward to Black Friday deals to get an amp modeller, but I have a big problem:
- Love Kemper Stage's profiling and sharing capability.
- Love GT 1000 core's size and price point.
- Love Neural Cortex's promising specs and UI based on nothing yet.
What should I do? Any thoughts? (I can afford any of them, but I am definitely not rich 😆)
Thank you in advance!
Right....we were waiting for ur review❤
I picked up a BOSS GT-001 for $60 at a pawn shop and it has alot of those amps/FX and just does soo much! IDK about $1K tho?
Awesome video ! What is the song in background at the beginning of the video?
Ola do you still recommend this product today, or what you recommends from high end like Quad Cortex to less expensive. I my daughters ages 10-13 are playing Rock and Metal. Looking for a guitar gear pedal for when we out of state and can't bring my guitar amp etc.?
I wish they would just put the Katana's tone in a pedal. This is almost there but I can buy a bunch of used Katana 50's for what this thing costs

Can you please make a video about boss me-80. i want to know how to make it chug. By the way i love all your videos.
This suffers from what I call the "Line 6 Effect". Has some potential, but is so god damn fizzy you may as well forget about it.
That sounded really good.
What cables are you using on the input in the main output?
the think looks and sounds nice. i had an gp-16 years ago, sounded not so good.
Which one would you prefer for hi gain amps? Boss gt1000 or Ax8? Thanks
"Hey, what to look for when you want to buy a multieffect? -Input! It's pretty important if you want sound!" :D :D :D :D
PRAISE THE JESUS (HAYSOOOS) OF THE MINIONS OF METALZONES!
Another great Ola demo. But it was hard to tell about the lack of lag when switching channels, while youtube has put an auto-lag between your video and your audio. About a quarter of a second, but enough to ruin what you were trying to convey.
Must have a damn powerful DSP !
