I don't understand youtube at all, your arrangements are better than ever and from very relevant animes yet you get almost no views compared to before.
I don't get how this has as many views as it does, it deserves more. And I agree 100% about it being fun to play, I can't play piano, but it's fun to hit the play button and listen. Can confirm.
Damn, this arrangement is completely different from any other works that I've listened to from you. Like many comments have pointed out already, it's impressive how you could balance the dynamics of multiple rhythms so well in this performance, which really gives the echoing atmosphere from the original song. I've also noticed how you kept the left-hand pattern as arpeggios instead of jumps in the final chorus which really allow the low bass to shine.
I think that's because "One Last Kiss" doesn't even sound like your typical Anime-song, haha. Normally I wouldn't arrange this type of electronic songs but since it's Anime related this time, I made an exception. And as you have mentioned, this arrangement is indeed one of the deceivingly "easy to listen, but actually hard to play" songs because of all the polyrhythms and the many sound layers in this piece.
@@Animenzzz it doesn’t sound like a normal anime song your right. It reminds me of something you’d hear from a normal artist even over here in the US. Its a song about love and farewell, nothing over-specific or too over the top. Yet at the same time it ties in perfectly, maybe because Eva has always been about trying itself into the real world in its own sort of way.
Man, the voicing control is absolutely off the charts with this one. Even though the original doesn't provide much melodic variation in itself, the nuance that Animenz applies allows each individual voice to stand on its own and echo brilliantly. And of course the signature Hikaru Utada tonal color is clear as day. For some reason, this cover makes me remniscent of Animenz' Unbeatable Network cover from several years ago. Perhaps it's the similar color of the chords or the groovy atmosphere. Definitely a fun one to groove along to at any time of day. Fantastic cover!
Ah, Unbeatable Network! I almost forgot about this Gatchaman Crowds arrangement, haha. Indeed, both songs features an extensive electronic sound and I translated it to the piano.
I've listened to a lot of piano covers of One Last Kiss , this is by far the CLEANEST and most melodic one. In my opinion, this is a flawless arrangement.
Sorry, there are a lot of words in the message this time, because English is not my native language. After the translation, I don’t know if I can accurately express the feelings in my heart, so although I am very shy and uneasy (almost 95% of the comment area is English), I am also very worried that Animenz does not understand my message. It is possible that this small voice will be ignored in the hundreds of messages, but this is my true voice as a devoted fan. When I saw the song MV for the first time, I deeply felt that this song was really only the singer Utada Hikaru can control this song. In the background atmosphere of blurred and flowing electronic sound, her transparent voice has a unique ending vibrato. , Fascinating and flexible rhythm, intertwined with synthetic sound effects into a kind of echo, making it impossible to stop listening in a loop. However, it feels unimaginable that it can be adapted by a piano, and Animenz has actually completed an amazing performance! As soon as I received the message notification from the channel’s first broadcast, I couldn’t wait to click on the video (I didn’t browse the description article in the introduction column at the time), and I felt a heartbeat throbbing; the piano sound under the ten-finger flipping not only showed electronic sound The sense of blur and echo, and even the level of control of Animenz’s level of difficulty is no less than that of Utada Hikaru. Using deep singing skills to control this song, which does not seem to have ups and downs, only the theme keeps going back and forth. In fact, more emphasis is on the taste of a Japanese said "雰囲気 "~ In short, thank you Animenz for bringing this adaptation that is completely comparable to the original song!
I was just blown away with how beautiful he delivered the piece. It literally just healed my ears through how good it sounded. Thank you Animenz, you really are an inspiration for many
I thought Marasy nailed the rhythms of this song but, oh man, Animenz is really on another level. Especially during the second and third chorus and the crescendo. I thought it would be difficult to pick whose arrangement I like best, because there are so many great ones already(Canacana, Marasy, Ru's, and Keichan's to name a few). But Animenz really comes out on top as always for me. I think it's really no surprise Animenz would cover this. This has been the number 1 song in Japan for weeks nows(Although I doubt it's number 1 anymore because NiziU released something new recently). We really need a medley with Beautiful World, One Last Kiss, Cruel Angel Thesis, Fly me to the Moon, and Sakura Nagashi!
This has been one of my favorite arrangements by you to listen to recently. Something about 0:58-1:22 is especially fascinating to me. Definitely good driving or work music! Thanks so much!
2 years ago, my friend recommended me to watch NGE, I loved it, then I discovered the rebuild series and I was in awe so waited for this final part and kept myself from watching clips/ost/covers (including this xD) that is related to rebuild series. Now that I have finished all of the evangelion 5 minutes ago (which somehow I cried to that ending), I can now enjoy this cover. Thanks animenz!
i love this arrangement so much, even though i lack knowledge in music theory, but i can sense the strong emotions from the rhythm and the tempo as you plays this music. Superb and immaculate
Before I started this video, I thought this piano cover would be somewhat plain because One last kiss has a lot of repeating notes. But to my surprise, you did such a good job and I can feel the waving of emotions in the music! This is definately going to be a repeating track on my playlist
I like seeing him make this keyboard sing. Drives home to people they do not need a grand piano to make good jams. I have not yet finished going through all of Animenz's works. I add the ones I like that have cropped up in my trends to a playlist and listen to them over and over as I read or do other things.
After listening to some other covers, consciously trying to compare and contrast from a composition point of view, I suddenly realised something that is very unnoticed and not often mentioned in terms of performance- you have thoughtful, contrasting, INTERESTING pedalling. Of course your careful and thoughtful chord voicing, balance compositionally are huge, but I just was struct suddenly by this realisation! Your pedalling never feels boring. Never a blur, always there’s a clarity where it needs to. That cleanses and freshness of the first best drop in the original song truly feels represented here in your cover. Truly with this I feel the same trance like magic I loved the original song for! I repeatedly watched and listened to that part of the trailer before the full song was out! Everywhere else I heard continuous homogeneous pedalling. Here I heard crisp, intentional, punchy no-pedal sounds. I hear clarity, I hear class, I hear intention in your pedalling. Amazing.
Placement of your pedalling isn’t just about connecting or getting the “prettier” piano sound. You truly play the piano as a whole instrument. Animenz you really are a great musician. One of the biggest thing I found surprising after entering into the Conservatorium here in Melbourne was how much time my teacher spent on fingering and pedalling. Like many other people I always pedalled intuitively minus some specific uses. I thought I’d “moved on “ from the “basics”. Turns out they aren’t basics, not even “foundations”. they’re pillars. Animenz it feels like you have extended your senses pianistically to your whole composition and performance and you have these huge pillars supporting you. It’s not rare among professional classical pianists I suppose but it feels like so on the anime piano cover community. Here I get to hear finesse. Reminds of the coming together of “pop” and “classical”, it’s like we’re in music history class! It’s not an overstatement I don’t think to say we’re witnessing a piece of history here. Bless you Animenz.
Amazing!! The variation in intensity is what makes this song since the chords pretty much remain the same all the way through, you captured those ups and downs so good, thanks for recording it, this song and movie had an impact on me, I hope they did on you too
I cried at this cover like 3.0 + 1.0 times of happiness, I can't say anything other than "wow". I know you from the cover from Angel Beats, and all I can say, that this is the real music, because it gives you those feelings that you can only experience in this way. Masterpiece. I would really like you to have your own orchestra (perhaps you already have, I don’t know for sure)
Oh my gosh, I never thought you'd do a cover for this! I've had the original song on repeat since it first came out. The song is so addictive and it's a perfect ending for the Evangelion series. So many feelings whenever I hear this song and now this piano version will also be part of it as well. Like you say this is a very good driving song, I find the upbeat of it very fitting for the end even though I haven't seen the film. Let the series end with a brighter song than the usual sadness associated with the series.
This arrangement brings out memories I didn't know I have. Made me teary and emotional but also hopeful for what to comes next. This piece is so magical, kinda sad to be left by the Evas but happy to have been given this song and this cover.
By now, I have already listened to all piano arrangements of this song, and this version, animenz version is by far the best among all. It is the one that make me feel the same emotions I felt when listening the original, and even make me feel something more, this arrangement was made with passion and dedication. It has something especial so I can't stop keep listening to this... Thanks animenz you are really and inspiration for me. ... What a excellent use of music by the director to throw the viewer a life vest before they down under the weight of their conflicting emotions. It truly is a beautiful end to the saga.
Never watched evangelion or listened to this song before you covered it. Since you posted it, I’ve watched the show and the movies, and when this song came on, I was both blown away from what I just watched and amazed at how well you were able to capture the intensity of the song and the series it reflects in your arrangement.
Never heard this song, but nice arrangement. I really like the echoes and voices you added. Im currently practicing your attack on titan (main theme OST) cover you did 7 years ago after your music theory exam. its amazing xD, thanks for arranging it ❤️.
Yeah the chromatic left hand technique at the beginning is very creative! Imagining the chromatic runs as an “approaching titan” makes it much more fun xD. And that part after the trill at “2:09” is just amazing! The arpeggios at the end seem a bit hard, but I think i can nail them with time and practice. Thanks for replying

I'm without words, where do I even start - I won't do a timestamp reaction like usual when I'm caught all !! by an arrangement because it doesn't feel right for this song somehow. I love the entire thing to the point I feel like I'll be listening to it for a long, long time. Part of it is because I love Hikaru Utada's music, and I LOVE piano versions of it even more, and part is because, well, it's an Animenz arrangement lol, I'm a simple woman. One thing I need to point out is how during most of this arrangement it feels like there are WAY more instruments playing than just the one piano. Or that it's at least a piano duet, it's insane how many voices you balanced in there. Obsessed with this one, thank you again, Animenz!
AH now I wish I did do highlights after all, next time then!! I really just started looping this one immediately after first listen and kept it on for the entire day haha, I love it so much
I could clearly see that this arrangement requires good power control, to draw contrasts between notes and notes. It sounds relaxing with simpler patterns. Very interesting arrangement! And also, I am wondering what would it be like if this arrangement is combined with the building where you recorded Nagi no Asukara medley since both arrangements require more dynamic control and emotions rather than in terms of difficult techniques. And some parts have successfully reminded me of your Tamashii no Refrain arrangement as well.
@@Animenzzz Did you use the internal sounds on the Nord Grand or did you use a VST-instrument, and if so. What VST-instrument did you use? Asking for a friend.

ありがとうございます…とてもとても嬉しいです💫💫
I was actually looking forward to the timestamp highlights in your comment, hahaha
But glad you liked the whole thing instead! (´・ω・`)
AH now I wish I did do highlights after all, next time then!! I really just started looping this one immediately after first listen and kept it on for the entire day haha, I love it so much
Can´t discribe my feelings while hearing this. what´s going on`? absolutly stunning. mad respect from germany! i´m so thankful 4 your art,
Arigatō! :)
Another amazing arrangement. I have this on repeat 24/7
Your playing is masterpiece
God arrangements like these make me want to get off my desk and play the piano! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
U got sheet or you olaying by ear
I could clearly see that this arrangement requires good power control, to draw contrasts between notes and notes. It sounds relaxing with simpler patterns. Very interesting arrangement! And also, I am wondering what would it be like if this arrangement is combined with the building where you recorded Nagi no Asukara medley since both arrangements require more dynamic control and emotions rather than in terms of difficult techniques. And some parts have successfully reminded me of your Tamashii no Refrain arrangement as well.
I increased the reverb for this video this time compared to my previous video. Did you notice that?
@@Animenzzz yes! Nice adjustment
@@Animenzzz Did you use the internal sounds on the Nord Grand or did you use a VST-instrument, and if so. What VST-instrument did you use? Asking for a friend.
Wow I am so ecstatic that someone else is remembering that medley. The melody that comes out of this piece is outstanding, Grand piano + Reverb.
i played piano for 10 years but never practiced much. never thought it was worth the effort and considered it uncool. then i stopped. this was 12 years ago if i remember correctly. your videos finally bring me a desire to play piano seriously again. hopefully someday i will be able to pick it up again ...
100% confirmed this arrangement is legendary!
3:09 my favorite part. I love it

I swear this guy is such a legend
We all lived in the fast-paced world but this just catch our eyes, ears and mind to focus eternally....
これほど宇多田ヒカルの世界観とエヴァの狂気感が再現されてるピアノはないと思う、、
Thanks again Animenz! Always like reading your descriptions to see what you really think of the song you are playing, it gives me some perspective since I don't play piano.
this is so unique compared to your other arrangements and it’s absolutely amazing
you’re literally on a whole other level than others
This was amazing Animenz
Incredibly striking and breathtaking as usual !
This arrangement is so divine!
Oh my God those repeating figures on the right hand sounds amazing. The sheer control you're able to exhibit is incredible.
Man this arrangement is just crazy. Every time I come back to your channel you just remind me of how awesome and unique you are. Thank you for covering this song. I love it so much. Hopefully one day you'll do Sakura Nagashi too! Can't help but agree that I still like that one better. I wish I could learn to play this, but I haven't played in so long and I was never very good.
I listened to this over a dozen times but it still feels amazing as I first heard this! Well done my good sir and wish you all the best
excellent groove, love it
Coming back to this video after seeing the movie makes me truly realize that Evangelion is really over after all these years.
Thank you Animenz!!!
