Sincerely - Violet Evergarden OP [Piano]

This piano arrangement is dedicated in memory of the 36 people who passed away in the Kyoto Animation arson attack exactly one year ago, on the 18th July 2019. It is without a doubt one of the biggest tragedies in the history of Anime and we all mourn the loss of talented individuals and legendary creators, who have unfortunately perished on that day.
Kyoto Animation has created countless masterpieces and they have brought joy and delight to many Anime fans in the world for almost two decades. Suzumiya Haruhi, Lucky Star, Clannad After Story, K-ON!, Hyouka, just to name a few. For me, the arson attack was one of the most devastating days I ever had in my 15 years as an passionate Anime fan and even until today, I am still deeply affected by this incident.
This arrangement of Sincerely is my tribute to Kyoto Animation for its one year memorial and it's slightly different than my usual uploads. There are two key elements in this arrangement: flowing right hand movements and the appearance of the main theme of Violet Evergarden: A-C-G-A. This small motif is being featured very prominently in the original Soundtrack of Violet Evergarden and I decided to use it as my personal message to the listeners.
The arrangement starts with a slow variation of the chorus melody and it's introducing a melancholic atmosphere at the beginning. Soon afterwards it changes the key to b-minor in 00:39 and the verse starts to play, symbolizing the start of a long journey. The flowing right hand movement appears for the first time in 01:45, to serve as an introduction for the Chorus part and to act as a buffer for the key change from b-minor to d-minor.
During the transition in 02:36, the main theme from Violet Evergarden is appearing for the first time in B-minor (F#-A-E-F#) and it serves as a foreshadowing for the later parts in the arrangement. The flowing right movement is returning again in 03:03, representing one of my favorite moments in the Anime: the fantastic umbrella scene in episode 7, where Violet was seemingly floating above the lake.
The arrangement continues as the original song but the music unexpectedly comes to a halt at 04:56. Because in 5:11, I am starting to play my tribute to KyoAni.
The main theme of Violet Evergarden is being played again and the left hand is playing a tremolo now, imitating the string instruments of an orchestra. The intensity of the music is slowly rising until it is culminating in the big climax in 05:41. This is the loudest forte I have ever played in my life and I released all my emotions on the piano in that moment.
The tremolo in the left hand is continuing until it's finally released with the return of the chorus in F major, and this time the entire orchestra is playing. Variations of the chorus are played, the flowing right hand is returning again in 06:42 and the music is slowly fading away with each repeat, until it finally reaches the end in 07:46.
Initially, the music would have ended here, but I wanted to include a more positive message in my tribute. I believe there is still hope and that KyoAni will return one day. The right hand plays the main theme A-C-G-A again but this time it's a little bit hidden within the chords. The violin tremolo is returning as well and the music is swelling up until it finally unleashes a bright and optimistic F-Major chord. It symbolizes the rebirth of KyoAni, where it slowly rises from the ashes, only to shine brighter, than it ever has.
If you have read this far, I want to thank you for your patience for reading the story behind the creation of Sincerely. This is one of the most special arrangements I have ever written and to be honest, after recording this heavy piece, I feel a little bit empty inside. But I will still continue doing my best.

An actual story about Animenz and Sincerely that I witnessed last year
July 22nd, 2019, a few days after the tragic Kyoani accident, Animenz fan meeting was held in Guangzhou City, China. The fan meeting began with a very happy and exciting atmosphere because it was an awesome chance for us all to meet up with our favorite pianist.
During Q & A session, most of the audiences asked normal questions about Animenz's musical experience, favorite anime, etc. However, suddenly a lady raised her hand, stood up from her seat in silence, and then started talking with crying: "The accident happened to Kyoani a few days ago was a disaster for all anime fans. We are really painful and sad after that. Animenz, would you like to play some Kyoani songs here?"
After a moment's silence, Animenz said he would like to play some improvisations. The entire atmosphere has changed from happy to sorrow dramatically. Then, Animenz started to improvise a Kyoani medley. Fortunately, Sincerely was contained. I tried my best to hold my tears during this beautiful and fantastic moment. It was so moving and nostalgic. This medley also contained songs from Air, Clannad, etc. That moment was one of the most beautiful memories of my life. And thanks to Animenz, I was reminded of all the special feelings that Kyoani has brought to me.
A few weeks later, I visited Japan, and I also visited the Kyoani studio which got burned. The entire building was enclosed. And I could clearly see that a beautiful yellow building has turned into a tragic brown and black building. After presenting flowers, I started to talk to the local policeman there. He got to know that I came from China, then he bowed to me, and said "Thanks for coming to Japan!" Tears came down of my face endlessly. That moment was one of the most painful moments that I have ever experienced. Even now, my eyes would be filled with tears whenever I think of that moment.
After a year, at this memorial date. Animenz finally officially uploaded this arrangement. Thank you so much for being so kind to all anime fans. This accident remarks one of the darkest days in the anime world. But in this comment, I want to tell every anime fan that, please stand together and defend our community. We don't want anything like this to happen again. Rest in Peace, 36 victims. Thanks for all the masterpieces and beautiful memories that you have brought us. And thank you Animenz, for standing with us, for cheering us up, for making contributions to the anime world. We are always grateful.

She was innocent at heart. She shouldn't be blamed as she was just used just like a weapon and she clearly don't know what she was doing at the time. She just wanted to be with captain and keep him safe as much as possible.

This arrangement can be maximally moved by seeing and listening to the description in his overview section. Of course, I could be moved just by feeling the sound, but when I used his knowledge to think about his sound usage and his thoughts, everything matched and I couldn't stop crying. This was a moving arrangement, I can tell you put your emotions, thoughts, your hope into it.
I'm a beginner pianist but even I know what it feels like to put all your heart into playing a song, and feel tired afterwards. After arranging a masterpiece like this and playing it, even a professional pianist would be exhausted.

The revival at 6:15 invokes feelings of courage, tenacity, and hope - leaving the listener breathless. The final goodbye is heartbreaking.

I just finished the series on Netflix and the OP melody is now unforgettable. You can always find the amazing interpretation from Animenz! I love the way it portraits the emotions inside Violet.
One year since this masterpiece was first released and I'm still listening to it every day.
I remember the first time listening to this arrangement and I don't know why but I couldn't help but cry. Although this is only piano and no one is singing you can still feel the emotion of the song and that really warmed my heart. Since I was sort of new to the anime fandom I didn't know much especially about Violet Evergarden when I found out about Kyoani and how this was for those who died that made the song hit harder. This is such a masterpiece u_u

I literally just finished watching the series and the movie I-
i watch Violet Evergarden back in 2018 and last year when the studio caught on fire i was pretty much sad what happened to them RIP to the people who work with KyoAni and they help me create so many memories throughout my journey.

Well Unravel used to be my favorite until I heard this!
The only anime my anime hating but tolerant mother will EVER love and not insult. The story captured her attention and the animation blew her away. She even looked up the songs to see what they meant. The episode of the mother her daughter broke her.

Was thinking this was going to be a rather simple song up until 1:50 you start moving your hands at light speed hitting every note with elegance as usual 😜

I wish I could play this whole piece, but idk 8 minutes is kinda long. But, I'll get there eventually. I'm still working through playing Animenz's arrangement of "Unravel" which is supposedly the easiest of all of the pieces he has played. Thanks to Animenz and a kind friend, I'm back to playing piano again which is amazing. I've been playing piano since I was 6 years old and I'm 21 now, but I stopped playing when I was 18 due to personal reasons. Now I want to play a lot of Animenzs' arrangements. The songs are so beautiful, but I really like his arrangements cuz he makes the songs more powerful and flowy so you feel that emotional connection when you hear the piece. When I hear him play the piece, I get to think a lot about what happens in the anime story and I can visualize the struggles and the triumphs that the characters face while going about their lives. But anyways, comment down below if you're currently practicing this piece or have completed playing this piece with a level of mastery ;)

You and all the other anime piano youtubers have inspired me to play the piano, despite already being 16 (I know it’s never too late to start and that this is by no means an old age, however it is still later than most). Not only have you brought me a love for anime piano covers but also classical music and it has been such a massive part of my life that there is no day that I don’t listen to piano music for hours. I can’t thank you enough and thanks for another beautiful composition!
