We all Know NGE AnimA is sooner or later to happen, sadly... BUT I do agree with you, it was the final kiss we all wanted from the franchise, and like reflecting how Anno finally found his happiness with his wife, as good as everyone got his happy end, a life without Evangelion thereafter.
I think you could have removed the "from the anime Evangelion" part. 1) that isn't accurate. It is from the rebuild films. 2) She obviously knows about the films and their EDs because....well....she just covered a song from the last film.

Some of us die-hard loving fans of the series cannot move on just yet unfortunately 😢😭 = After the things that I saw with it, in 4.0 feeling incomplete to some degree in how it turned out in the end. Now that Anno is gone from Evangelion, other new content will eventfully show up within the next 6 to 10 years or so... because Eva is much bigger than just Anno now. He said so himself, that it will not end after Rebuild... his successors will follow on in his work and make new stories out of it eventfully that will expand upon it all = like with the Gundam universe. I would if I could, with the story that I've been building up since 2.0... but it's a standalone alternate multiverse of Eva that connects to it all, yet is unique on its own. So, I'll just have to keep on living my life naturally and work on it in the mean time until it eventfully comes again = building up to it all. It's been one hell of a ride though.

I got into the series very late (7 years ago). I thought it was captivating and interesting with some amazing character writing in hindsight but at the time I couldn't appreciate it to the level that other fans had. The TV series was overly ambitious, fought against every budget constraint thrown at it and is definitely a rare success story (ANN had a fascinating two part article on the company leading up to Evangelion). However, depending on the scene it felt too fast and too slow depending on how you approached it while trying to fit a 40 episode series into 26 episodes. I felt oddly humbled by its ending but it definitely was hard to wrap my head around the messages it was telling. The End movie and the rebuild films complicated my understanding further. It's only now, years later that I can appreciate its legacy and move through the rebuild films at my own pace in a rewatch marathon, which I'm leaving till Thrice is available in the West. As for Anno's statement, I think he meant that "if" it continues, he's done with the franchise. Not 100% that it will continue. I'd argue that it should NOT be revived again too quickly, but considering three anime disasters of Winter 2020 (Yasahime, Neverland S2, and Ex-Arm), I'm not writing off anything that anime producers are capable of.

Now I can't see the song in the same way, it's kinda dark actually.
All the songs in Eva describe a lot of the characters. This one however is meant to reflect Shinji and Asuka's relationship as expressed in the final movie. See the beach scene.
You can express the message of this song however you wish, some say it's about Yui and Gendo, some say it's about Asuka and Shinji, and I think it's about the relationship of Rei II and Shinji on the rebuilds. None of us are wrong, we just interpreted the song in different ways, so don't go around telling someone is wrong when no one really is to begin with.

Been watching evangelion since 2008. cant imagine what people that started to follow evangelion since the beginning felt after finishing Thrice Upon a Time.
After watching that movie, everytime I hear this song, English or original, I start to cry. It sounds ridiculous but evangelion was an anime like no other, it brought happiness, sadness, anger and so much more. I'll forever love this series and the journey it brought me on. Seeing shinji run off with mari as an adult, finally happy after his teenage years were full of trauma brought me to full tears and I'm so grateful to have been able to know and watch this series. I hope yall have a great day, and if you're thinking about watching it, prepare for alot of fan service, beautiful animation, depression, and an experience you'll never have with another anime

It's funny how even with a Amalee cover I can still tell it's an Utata song without any prior exposure, knowledge, or noticing the tags. Like I guess all the other rebuild songs have been so it can draw inference, but truth be told there's such a distinct sound to Utada's songs and Amalee is kind of amazing for capturing the same essence in her voice.
I watched these movies with my brother. They were precious memories I will always treasure. He doesn't want me in his life anymore for a variety of reasons, but I will never forget those days and that excitement. I hope that one day I can share days like that with him again.
Evangelion to me was a weird one. It showed the strength of humanity's will to survive and the depths that we would go to in order to make that fact known. I really should give it a good binge when I have the time.
I only just got into Evangelion back in 2020, and I can say that it’s not only great, but it’s dark, complicated, heart-wrenching, but at the same time it’s hopeful and touching. Kind of like how humanity is. Plus this song is a great send-off and this cover is epic!
I had only recently seen Neon Genesis Evangelion from 1995 and thought the series ended with the movie from 1997. I need to do some research because this song is great and has me curious.
I saw the series + End of Eva in 2013, and it took me ages to discover the Rebuild of Evangelion films. There's Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance, and 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, or Q - then of course, 3.0+1.0, airing now in Japan. While originally it seemed they were a shinier remake of the series, the plot takes a dramatic turn with 2.0, and now it's probably better to think of the Rebuilds as a sequel to the original series, and 3.0+1.0 as the true ending. Hope you find and enjoy them!

Its crazy how much emotion I have for this series, even though I just recently watched the OG series and EOE for the first time only a month ago. I got so hooked, I read the manga, and watched all of the Rebuild movies, including 3.0+1.0 this week. Can't believe this series has become one of my most favorite pieces of fiction in such a short time.

Y'know, Hikaru Utada is freaking *HARD* to cover for bc any cover done would just, fall flat of capturing the full flavored nuance that her voice naturally oozes. Thankfully, this is in English, and Amalee's voice has a similar enough character to Miss Utada's, in that it doesn't feel horrifically off. But, moving on... Mari x Shinji is a surprisingly cute as hell couple when you consider their respective characterizations. There's also the fact that Mari herself actually debuted in the manga's epilogue nearly *TWO DECADES* before Rebuild was a thing, and her appearance in 1.0 was 'unfinished' too. Not only is she 'older than she looks' on a meta level, but I think using her as the 'last girl wins' to close out this series for good adds quite a bit of catharsis since she, as a woman, is *EXACTLY* the kind of person Shinji needs in his life to properly balance things out in ways that Asuka, Rei, and Misato couldn't..... insofar as the 'main' Eva focused stories are concerned, anyway. Spin offs are a whole other discussion.
@@dmdizzy I think it's ambiguous whether Shinji and Mari are together in a romantic sense. Asuka says earlier that Shinji didn't need a lover, but a mother, and Mari is there at the end to tell Shinji that he's finally grown up and so the burden of what he's done is no longer his, hence why she removes the choker. They run together, ready to enjoy life but it doesn't necessarily mean they are "together". For all we know, Shinji went home to Kaworu that night.

You can express the message of this song however you wish, some say it's about Yui and Gendo, some say it's about Asuka and Shinji, and I think it's about the relationship of Rei II and Shinji on the rebuilds. None of us are wrong, we just interpreted the song in different ways, so don't go around telling someone is wrong when no one really is to begin with.

After watching that movie, everytime I hear this song, English or original, I start to cry. It sounds ridiculous but evangelion was an anime like no other, it brought happiness, sadness, anger and so much more. I'll forever love this series and the journey it brought me on. Seeing shinji run off with mari as an adult, finally happy after his teenage years were full of trauma brought me to full tears and I'm so grateful to have been able to know and watch this series.

It's funny how even with a Amalee cover I can still tell it's an Utata song without any prior exposure, knowledge, or noticing the tags. Like I guess all the other rebuild songs have been so it can draw inference, but truth be told there's such a distinct sound to Utada's songs and Amalee is kind of amazing for capturing the same essence in her voice.
No matter how much I try and stay away, I always come back to listen to these songs!

I only just got into Evangelion back in 2020, and I can say that it’s not only great, but it’s dark, complicated, heart-wrenching, but at the same time it’s hopeful and touching. Kind of like how humanity is. Plus this song is a great send-off and this cover is epic!

I had only recently seen Neon Genesis Evangelion from 1995 and thought the series ended with the movie from 1997. I need to do some research because this song is great and has me curious.
I saw the series + End of Eva in 2013, and it took me ages to discover the Rebuild of Evangelion films. There's Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance, and 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, or Q - then of course, 3.0+1.0, airing now in Japan. While originally it seemed they were a shinier remake of the series, the plot takes a dramatic turn with 2.0, and now it's probably better to think of the Rebuilds as a sequel to the original series, and 3.0+1.0 as the true ending. Hope you find and enjoy them!
The rebuilds are a continuation of Evangelion after Shinji causes third impact in End Of Evangelion

Damn... this song feels such a fitting conclusion to Evangelion as a whole. Great cover! Its crazy how much emotion I have for this series, even though I just recently watched the OG series and EOE for the first time only a month ago. I got so hooked, I read the manga, and watched all of the Rebuild movies, including 3.0+1.0 this week. Can't believe this series has become one of my most favorite pieces of fiction in such a short time.

I prefer this cover to any of the Evangelion covers performed. I like how it has a simple beat and shows off the range of her voice.
Y'know, Hikaru Utada is freaking *HARD* to cover for bc any cover done would just, fall flat of capturing the full flavored nuance that her voice naturally oozes.
Thankfully, this is in English, and Amalee's voice has a similar enough character to Miss Utada's, in that it doesn't feel horrifically off.
But, moving on...
Mari x Shinji is a surprisingly cute as hell couple when you consider their respective characterizations.
There's also the fact that Mari herself actually debuted in the manga's epilogue nearly *TWO DECADES* before Rebuild was a thing, and her appearance in 1.0 was 'unfinished' too.
Not only is she 'older than she looks' on a meta level, but I think using her as the 'last girl wins' to close out this series for good adds quite a bit of catharsis since she, as a woman, is *EXACTLY* the kind of person Shinji needs in his life to properly balance things out in ways that Asuka, Rei, and Misato couldn't..... insofar as the 'main' Eva focused stories are concerned, anyway. Spin offs are a whole other discussion.
I'm frankly just confused that they went with Mari x Shinji given that Kaworu was _right there._ Literally, as in just across the train tracks.
@@dmdizzy I think it's ambiguous whether Shinji and Mari are together in a romantic sense. Asuka says earlier that Shinji didn't need a lover, but a mother, and Mari is there at the end to tell Shinji that he's finally grown up and so the burden of what he's done is no longer his, hence why she removes the choker. They run together, ready to enjoy life but it doesn't necessarily mean they are "together". For all we know, Shinji went home to Kaworu that night.
