Now all of a sudden, I hear of people I’ve never heard of before like Stephen a Smith and Sue Bird. Now hooked, I will be watching Hannah Stuelke, juju, Watkins, and Paige Bueckers. Caitlin Clark effect…
I’m black; and I never watched the WNBA until Caitlin Clark. And now I’m watching and enjoying the Liberty in the Finals. These women in the WNBA can ball!!!!🏀
It's as simple as this..... If Clark didn't exist, the ratings would all be as low as usual. Even if she's not playing, SHE brought interest to the sport as a whole. It's STILL due to her.... NOT because the women are capturing interest on their own.
Steven A, you are 100% correct! 100% These woman are way past the pitiful jealousy and into rivers of denial. Steven A, please continue to speak the truth despite the hate from those who are drowning in jealousy of Caitlin Clark.
The saying no one hates a woman like another woman is so true. You have all these former WNBA stars who are just salty because they didn't enter the league when Social media was really big or when the interest for women's basketball was hot. Catlin has done the one thing the WNBA has needed for decades, its brought eyeballs. The WNBA finally has the star they have always wanted and they are wasting her. Perfect example is with Olympics, even if Catlin was on the bench she would of brought thousands of eyeballs. The rest of the women in the WNBA want attention but disregard the one bringing attention. And no Angel Reese is not bringing eyeballs or fans like Clark, it has nothing to do with race, with a sport where a majority of the young little girls are introduced to the sport by their fathers, fathers aren't probably gonna want their daughters supporting a loud fashion nova model like Reese.
Sue bird also mentioned that SAS doesn’t bring up the NBA ratings when steph curry or lebron get eliminated…. And so I ask, what does SAS want the other teams in the playoffs do? Let the Indiana fever win just so there ratings stay up? People don’t wanna watch “good basketball” cause they wanna make it some kind of political/ racial thing…. The fever lost cause they weren’t good enough, plain and simple…
I think you missed the point. Sue and the rest of them are just salty bcuz they wanna feel like the W was good enough without CC and got by fine with them. He only made the statement about the Olympics bcuz thats a global platform that would have brought more attention to them
@@msummer6926Well as someone that actually listened Sue’s podcast that was not what she was saying at all. She actually acknowledged what CC has done for the game and talking positively about her superstardom. What she was saying was that the WNBA pulled record breaking numbers in Game 1 of playoffs drawing 1.5 million viewers at its height and instead of focusing on that growth. All SAS and Shannon have focused on, was on how ratings have dipped since CC left.
SA needs something to talk about. Since he can't talk about the playoffs because if finds them boring he brought up drama. Drama sells, gossip sells and contention sells. It's his way of selling the game. He knows better when talking about MJ. Companies get more of the things that work, including images.
The truth is that Mr. Smith is just as popular and has just as big a platform then they do and they are hating cuz he isn't a former professional Athlete like they are but just as relevant 💯
Sit down Sue. Why weren’t you, Swoopes, Taurasi, able to make the wnba what these other girls have been able to make it? CC, Aja, Collier, Plum, Ionescu, all STRAIGHT WOMEN, and all of sudden the wnba is relevant after 30 years? Join the cancelled list Sue, go sit down with Angel Reese and Swoopes.
Truth he can give but he can't receive in his mind he's always right I did not hear him say much about the W last year's final like Monica M asked him where were you the last 4 to 5 years he wasn't promoting the league then
That and notice the tact he displays with certain people. And I'm not someone who gets into race. But I have to wonder what his reaction would have been if an accomplished former black WNBA player had said that. Perhaps Candace Parker or Cynthia Cooper!
I am born woman. I dont watch wnba because it is boring, boring. I watch news about Cailyn Clark because she is respectfull, she plays game i like to watch.

We cover News and I can tell you that at the beginning the WNBA was a hot commodity and the excitement was great because of those legendary players in their prime. Once they all retired the league fazed out until Caitlin Clark came and revived the league. What some of these players don't seem to grasp is that before she came the league Media Rights deal was like 28 million. And now WNBA has secured a new national media rights package worth $2.2 billion. The same women that were complaining about lack of pay now are complaining about Caitlin taking all the shine away from them. What's wrong with this picture?
We get it SAS however what many people are saying is yes Caitlin is box office. But now she got put out and she still in the conversation. Now all of a sudden, I hear of people I’ve never heard of before like Stephen a Smith and Sue Bird. Now hooked, I will be watching Hannah Stuelke, juju, Watkins, and Paige Bueckers. Caitlin Clark effect…
Ill never waste 2hrs watching a WNBA game.
Good for you!
Good for you. I never watched a straight two hours of a basketball game, even if I went to a game live.

You’re missing out. Watch the WNBA finals. It’s some of the best basketball, male or female, that you’ll see.
Magic/Bird brought the NBA off tape delay before Jordan …but point taken.
No one gets in their own way more than the ladies of the WNBA
speak brother speak, they watched Caitlin and stayed to watch the rest. That's the truth.
I’m black; and I never watched the WNBA until Caitlin Clark. And now I’m watching and enjoying the Liberty in the Finals. These women in the WNBA can ball!!!!🏀
Bro, I'm from Africa and currently staying in Japan. I got hooked to the WNBA because of CC. That's just the truth!
It's as simple as this..... If Clark didn't exist, the ratings would all be as low as usual. Even if she's not playing, SHE brought interest to the sport as a whole. It's STILL due to her.... NOT because the women are capturing interest on their own.
8:00 "I kinda know news. And I damn sure know ESPN...we cover sports!" 👍
I stand with SAS 10 toes down! Keep doing your thing homie!!
NOBODY WAS WATCHING WNBA UNTIL C CLARK AND A REESE SHOWED UP BUTTON ~~~>>>
Reese had nothing to do with it
So Sue is mad at ESPN for covering the WNBA and promoting the sport.
We stop watching when supergirl team was out ...but I only started watching this year WNBA and it was great viewing ...cheers from Australia.🎉
Thank you for the factzz,
True Statement
Great response
Well said. Thank you for your honesty.
Bruh these wnba players are some of the most petty women on the planet makes me not even want to watch anymore
As a woman myself, I must say, most women in general are petty 😩
Why did you ever start?
Then don't watch.
@@msummer6926naw majority are
Well said Stephen! Especially the comparison with Magic Johnson & Larry Bird non-resentment to Michael Jordan.
You mention CC to an WNBA player and they loose their mind. 😂
WNBA IS MORE POPULAR THAN NBA NOW!
He only made the statement about the Olympics bcuz thats a global platform that would have brought more attention to them
You're totally missing the point.
@@msummer6926Adrian is missing the point on purpose.
@@keeks8272they are up because of CC
See this is why this man is the GOAT!! He spits FACTS and some people tend to try and throw shade and hate his way...He knows sports and news.
Sheryl Swoopse, Lisa Leslie, Caitlin Clark, Cynthia Cooper.... so much alliteration lol
Stephen A. Smith!!! Tell these WNBA players what time is!!! Preach brother!!! Preach!!!
Join the cancelled list Sue, go sit down with Angel Reese and Swoopes.
that's dialing it back and being as respectful as you can? got it
He can talk about whatever he wants, but let someone utter his name in anything....
Truth he can give but he can't receive in his mind he's always right I did not hear him say much about the W last year's final like Monica M asked him where were you the last 4 to 5 years he wasn't promoting the league then

I know right? He can dish it but he can't take it

There's so much negativity in this sport and doesn't really have to be that way...to be honest, it's negativity on both sides. Difficult to sift through that to just enjoy the game.
Never been a big fan of SAS but I will admit maybe I was wrong about this dude I always thought he was afraid to call out top Athletes this video showed me he’s not afraid.
When you right you right! Except on Trump you’re wrong!
That 🐦 just got cooked 💯. These women in the WNBA are their own worst enemies. Well said Stephen A.
Stephen A Smith makes more sense than other people. He is genuinely smart
LOL, two days after Sue Bird said that, following game 1 of the WNBA Finals (and a TNF game) First Take kicks off the show the next morning talking about the Cowboys for no reason 😅😅😅
Do yall hear how he talks to Monica Mcnutt and Sheryl Swoops but Sue Bird let me dial it back. I bet you will Stephen A. You only got that vitriol for certain people.
I don’t think he responded to her actual point
Sue Bird acts like shes dumb. The viewership is because CC hrought them to the game. Duhhhh!!
Love the Rising tides comments
I’m 69 years old I played three sports in high school baseball basketball and football. I love sports. I don’t care what color you are who you are if you’re good you’re good Kaitlyn Clark Angela Reese packing the stadium y’all and by the Kaitlyn Clark she could handle and the girl can shoot and angel Reese I like her outfits Ooh La La
Clark only ..get real Reese doesn"t pack anything but her big mouth
Positive or negative, politically right, left or somewhere in between, every American, thank the Founders, has a right to express their opinion. That, of course, includes broadcasters.
I watched about 5 minutes of wnba this season, because of CC. That's the Clark Effect.
Sue was talking about the playoffs. Stephen A you are wrong. Your problem is you always think you are right
Sue only did that to get back at him and shannon for how they were with Andrea carter..screaming like females..but the problem is its a bit late..now it look like a shot from out the blue..I get wat she was tryna say.
Yea I saw that segment. Andrea was like to hell with it…..😂
We cover News and I can tell you that at the beginning the WNBA was a hot commodity and the excitement was great because of those legendary players in their prime.
He still mad at Monica 🤣🤣🤣🤣 he mad
That's so damn right with MJ. With no social media or internet either
We get it SAS however what many people are saying is yes Caitlin is box office. But now she got put out and she still in the conversation. Give her a break and focus on the teams and players that are still playing. The media is using Caitlin for clicks while she is trying to enjoy her life away from the WNBA. You are part of the drama narrative.
I started watching NBA because of Caitlyn Clark.
