@@Atribecalledsuccess The point is about accountability. “Unnamed source” is the same as saying “mystery person said something and I’m presenting it to the public”. And for him to share a text he literally just got is not exactly top notch journalism. To further suggest himself that considering JB is educated, talented, etc, something else MUST be wrong with him (questioning authority, etc), the only thing that does is hurt JBs image and marketability. It’s lazy, damaging “journalism”.
@@Atribecalledsuccess I don’t see which part of my last comment sounds like trolling… Yes he has more credibility and tenure than most sports reporters. He’s also been wrong many many times (for example with the “decision”, with KD to the knicks, Dan Gilbert selling the cavs, etc) and often embellishes, overhypes, or is overly negative for views (like many “journalists”). Credibility does not equal blind trust, nor is it an excuse for libel (publishing harmful information about a person that damages their reputation). I listen to Stephen A a lot, and it’s my opinion he missed the mark on that day. They were talking about JB when he got the text, and he immediately shared that information with America. It could be from a Nike exec, it could be Ime Udoka, it could be Brad Stephens… that kind of open-ended “just throwing it out there” gossip talk, as JB pointed out, is questionable for a MAN’s integrity, not even considering the journalist aspect.
It seems like the main issue is that Jaylen was frustrated with SAS for reading that text in the first place. I watched that episode live too, and I don't recall any conversation about Jaylen not being marketed enough or anything like that. The discussion was about Jaylen Brown being an underrated superstar, and SAS reading that text had nothing to do with that, in my opinion. Plus, we all know that negative comments tend to stick with people more than positive ones. So when SAS read that text from an unknown source, two things happened: 1 - people who don’t know Jaylen are more likely to latch onto the negative. And 2 - Jaylen is now stuck defending himself against something vague and anonymous, which I get why that would bother him or anyone. In the end, don't bring up negative comments when they have nothing to do with the topic at hand, especially if they’re anonymous.
You cared enough to respond... take ya old ahh on. It's a new age... you can't fool us no more. .. we in or 30's now. We finally caught on. You bullshit!!
It is IRRESPONSIBLE as a journalist to spread information from an "unnamed source", without doing your own research first to verify if it is true or not, plain and simple! There is no way of determining if that source has a personal beef against Jaylen Brown or their own personal agenda to keep him from succeeding, for whatever reason. SAS just likes to make headlines and cause controversy. If an "unnamed source" at ESPN said how bad a person SAS was, he would want to know who they were as well as discredit them immediately!
Unnamed sources abuse too much. You’d expect to know what media done to greats like Ali and Jackie Robinson. But then again what could SAS even do? He has to suck up to his peers, but hopefully he has a gameplay to enable those being thrown under the bus. They never talk about how Luca fat or Jokic got pressure or failure.
Journalistic integrity emphasizes the importance of accuracy and fairness in reporting. Cross-checking information with the person involved is essential to ensure that the story is truthful and balanced. This practice helps prevent misinformation, provides the opportunity for clarification, and allows for the inclusion of diverse perspectives. It upholds ethical standards by respecting the rights of individuals and fostering trust in journalism. Did he cross check?
A lot of former athletes do not have either the credentials or experience with journalism to actually contribute in a meaningful way on these type of conversations. It’s just not their specialty.
Stephen A is right. Un-named sources and private reporting in just apart of journalism / news. Jalen Brown just took the unnamed source report / opinion personal. Jalen is trying to break parts of a systematic culture. Systematic entities don't like that.

Gill hates on pretty much any mainstream media he even paraded the fact NBA on TNT contract is coming to an end, instead of giving them their flowers and setting the standard for basketball media he chooses to hate on them so im not really surprised at all
I mean
He hating on the same media that he's now apart of and that's keeping his bills paid.

What I took from this is JB isn’t a sellout like JT with them endorsements, JB stands with his principals and ain’t just talk. BIG respect! 💯
What makes you assume JT is a sellout because of the endorsements he got?
How do we know you made that up?
Really bro?
Unnamed sources have the right to defend themselves 😂
You DO care … that’s why you made a video about it

*Stephen A combing his hair in the mirror* “ Who’s the best unnamed source… You are 😁 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The source: Stephen A Smith 😂
Someone needs to go on ESPN and say, “sources say SAS is an idiot. Some people have said that. Not me but some people.”
Stephen talking about take your emotions out of it, and then sit here more emotional than all of them

You can't trust any politician
Noticed he didn’t mention Miss C Coop 😂
U from 40s?
Loved the fact there’s no beef and it’s just a discussion. Agreeing to disagree without being disrespectful. Let’s gooooooo!!!
Sounded kinda disrespectful to mean. To say that Stephen A. is nothing. Because Stephen A. doesn't have a come back, then I guess he is nothing.
I think Rashad Mccants was more on you from what I saw
Citing sources is a fundamental aspect of journalism lol
If you can't answer, who is they? Then you need to be quiet
And people say, the housewives are messy. 😁
Nobody’s perfect, Stephen A. You were wrong on this one. Rashad has a good point - all through college we HAVE to cite our source. Suddenly as a professional we don’t have to? How do we know you’re not making shit up or “doing the dirty work” of higher ups trying to deflate a players value?
Good point
Professional journalism isn’t the same as a little essay in college, go back to school!
@@jpjmk he has years of credibility that’s not comparable to a college kid turning in an essay
I hope you’re trolling
Please don't take anything from Gil and his podcast serious 🤦♂️, they be saying anything on there.
Bet you watch it everyday
@@DATGUY144 yeah for comedy not anything serious
They speak nothing but facts. From players who ACTUALLY played in the NBA.
Will Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown reach 99 Overall on 2K? Will the Celtics repeat? Will Jaylen Brown win Finals MVP again?
When he was talking about jaylen Brown that's a fact 💯💯💯
We reserve the right to not get over something
Journalistic integrity emphasizes the importance of accuracy and fairness in reporting. Cross-checking information with the person involved is essential to ensure that the story is truthful and balanced. This practice helps prevent misinformation, provides the opportunity for clarification, and allows for the inclusion of diverse perspectives. It upholds ethical standards by respecting the rights of individuals and fostering trust in journalism.
Did he cross check?
JB was in his face it was nothing but yes sir’s all day 😂
Right
I'ma start calling him Stephen 'A.ll Over The Place' Smith.
The real basketball fans have your back and support you Stephen A.
A lot of former athletes do not have either the credentials or experience with journalism to actually contribute in a meaningful way on these type of conversations. It’s just not their specialty.
Kudos to Jaylen!!! Standing on business.
It’s crazy that if the source said “Jaylen brown would win MVP and a title” The source would then want to get credit for the prediction … FOH
this is a young brotha that should be emulated by more black men. Nike dont want him because he's a positive role model for black men
Steven is 100% correct on this one.
Stephen A is right. Un-named sources and private reporting in just apart of journalism / news. Jalen Brown just took the unnamed source report / opinion personal. Jalen is trying to break parts of a systematic culture. Systematic entities don't like that.
The key word is integrity.
He’s talking about “DREAMERSPRO” as far as the “it’s amateur night” is concerned .🤣🤣🤣
That's true
Gil doesn't like when youtubers think they know basketball more than him
Lmao yeah… the content from DREAMERSPRO is okay, but his headlines and graphics is the most obvious clickbait ever. It’s always some shit like “This Is Going To Be Bad” or “Things Aren’t Looking Good.”😂😂😂
@@KevinCantWait08 thank you that dude is so annoying. Always with his Clickbait thumbnails. He’s finally had enough or this could get very ugly. Same shit different video.
This is the main principle sas not getting
Gilbert was absolutely correct just like SAS said. They can’t do their job without sources…Gilbert didn’t say anything bad about SAS. All athletes think like them, are they all simple minded?
Stephen A 💯 % right he is smart as hell
