I started playing bass in 1965 when I was 13 and had a successful career as a session player and touring bassist since 1974.
That said.... when I see Tal play and sing, I realize what a rare talent she is. Very few great bass players can sing, and write with the maturity and natural ability that she is blessed with. She is truly gifted and totally amazing!
I agree. I just retired from the concert business after a 39 year career and I've never seen anyone like her, especially with such a compelling voice. As you obviously see, Tal's the real deal. She'll be around for a very long time.
I feel the same as the both of you, where Tulsatom bob says she is gifted, and edfou5 says shes the real deal.may I add, as I have to admit, im really turned off by all the cute hipsters and their emotional love of scarves and hats with the new hip thing beat box, it is that much more of a definition if how gifted she is and will become monumental.Of this genra, she will become a Gedde Lee, Sting, JP Jones, flea and victor wooten, of the Ox, Redding..she is so smooth truelly saturated from within of what music is.it emits from her soul and pours from her fingertips.its the very deep feel of muddy waters, hooker, an at times like buddy rich on the drums, as she portrays a beautiful feel that Paul simon displays when singing with his eyes closed.I am so glad, that she pursues her passion.she is truly gifted, and a gift to all of us.thanks Tal, never stop.
Her choice of notes and timing is years ahead of her calendar age.

I had one bluesharp , a crushed beer can under each foot and two glass beer bottles on the index and long finger. A girl came runninning through the cyclone , so I grabbed her , was afraid the the " Dorothy effect would Blow her her. Can I tape you. Yes and every song from now on is Yours and the worlds .. At first I wondered if Tal was my daughter . Tal =`speak in Norwegian . The lady that recorde me on a snyo hand held device is choiring.

Like good wine, Tal is getting better with age.... Her true personality is rising up, made of sensuality, and subtilness. A great artist indeed!
Unique, folky and refreshing. Tal has a natural talent that is unmistakably real. I see nothing but good things for this lady. A rose in the desert. Most enjoyable!

Far and away the best version of this song. Kudos to all concerned including the engineers. Especially like the percussion ensemble, very organic!
Inside story-
And very spontaneous- Tal saw the two playing cajon and 'pile of shells' (both from Spain) playing with Jackson Browne/Raul Rodriguez (NYC show) and backstage invited them to come 'hang out', then when they showed up she said let's go and pulled them into a couple of live studio performances with her- they had no idea that's what they were doing with their day off... came out really nice though :-)

Absolutely beautiful. I didn't know she was a gifted and emotive singer as much as she is a fantastic bass player. I love surprises like this.
This young lady is the best bass player I've ever seen and I'm now 70 years old. Her experiences didn't suffer from the sessions with Jeff Beck. It's great to hear that she has a voice to complement her style. Lovin" it.

Enjoyed Tal's bass playing for a long time. When I listened to this beautiful piece of music and heard her voice - I thought I was hearing Joni Mitchell. Amazing - keep your feet on the ground and create more for us longing for music with real soul.

@@Leo-jt3tc technically, yes, but I really like her voice. Just the right balance of raw and smooth. Over time, she'll master her voice (as a singer and as a human) and really kick ass.
@@midi510 She is after in her early thirties, Jeff Beck saw the talent, I think it is such a great thing that he mentored her.
I hope this one cuts through the mediocrity that's out there in the music world. A wonderful performance and no need for over-production. Congratulations! Loved it!!!

I did'nt play that song for Tal , but the lady in black , I f you wonder why I sang about lights in the horizon, two hours before we were running from a cyclone. Towards Townsville , I had the harbourbmaster om VHF, He saw some plings on the radar, hold it , you got it mate, Then I saw the lights, 50 60 Through the break waters. After we tied up .

Wilkenfeld recorded her debut album, Transformation in just two days when she was 20 years old.[8] Wilkenfeld composed, produced, arranged and played bass on seven intricate tunes with Wayne Krantz, Geoffrey Keezer, saxophonist Seamus Blake and Keith Carlock. She also played with Chick Corea before Jeff Beck discovered her. - or let us say she discovered Jeff Beck.
Actually, Vinnie Colaiuta introduced her to Jeff, but she had played with other jazz greats before that. Herbie Hancock to name just one.

Agreed! Crazy good bass player, not too hard to look at, but needs to work on the vox. Not a bad voice ..... just needs to control it better (sounds pitch(y) throughout the song).
as the delta blues singers preformed often out of true 440 pitch, so, perhaps this was the singer's intention here. micro tones can be a valuable tool for creating sonic landscape, as fretless and upright bassists know. also sitarists and guitarists who bend to get feeling out of the notes. Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson were at times "pitchy" , but have done pretty well despite being less than perfect. great groove here and a nice contemplative tune, I think.
This talented lady never seems to amaze me. Her voice is fantastic. These recordings at Paste Studios are wonderful and I hope she puts out an album in this direction. Tal!!!

Such beautiful harmonies at 1:30. Gorgeous song. I love that quick run/riff at 2:25 - a little Geddy Lee in her. Tal is amazing and talented. The Cajon player looks like he is baked out of his skull, he's a beauty.

I fell in love with Tal years ago when I bought her first solo album. It was a brilliant piece of work, but it was all instrumental. No singing. This is a pleasant surprise for me. She is beautiful, with that golden hair. Maybe she'll pan out to be the female Sting. Of course, she is a far better bass player.
Don't hate on Sting man. He is one of the biggest stars on the planet. Not to mention accomplished on soo many different field's. Even in his music only he's such a multi faceted composer. Like bet most people know atleast 3-10 of his song's. And don't even mention when you hear a Sting song passing by a radio, most people recognize that distinguished voice and music instantly. And the man can act! I mean it's not even fair to compare such a young talent as Tal to Sting!

You're right Sting has had a phenomenal career as a front man/bass player (in addition to all of the other things you mentioned). If Tal "pans out to be the female sting" - that would be incredible :). At least that was my take on the initial comment. Tal, Sting others - we're so fortunate to have musicians coming out of the woodwork :)
@@CM-nd7mx I dont get why she has to be like Sting. They are so different musicalwise. For her to be something similar to a female Sting she would have to become popular on so many different areas. It's not fair to her and not justified to sting to do this. She is one of those who are so talented that she can hammer it up with Musicians like Herbie Hancock on a stage. Like her musical prowess in itself is allready great at this stage. And her delicate different bass playing is so exotic it can measure up and also elevate other great musicians performances. Look at the talented musicians around her, in this video and enjoy her performance.
