You mentioned perilla sujebi/kalguksu at the end-would love recipe if you have one! It’s one of my favorite dishes but the only restaurant that serves it is an hour away from me ☹️ haven’t found any recipes online that emulate the same taste either

We drove for a total of 2 hours at night in the rain to buy perilla powder and a variety of interesting mushrooms so I can make this for Sunday lunch tomorrow. I'm excited! Thank you so much for your fantastic channel. Your recipes have never let me down-- the opposite has always happened-- so I'm genuinely looking forward to making this intriguing soup. xo

one of the local korean restaurants makes the beeeest gamjatang and we asked them how it's so good. turns out they just add a lot more perilla seed than normal. gonna try this soup cause it sounds right up my alley

I like to make this similar to maangchis recipe, but instead of using beef I usually just stirfry a little garlic and onions, add water and mushrooms, then season with fishsauce instead of making anchovey kelp stock. Also, buchu is a must. This seems like an odd soup but it's sooo easy and perfect for cold weather. Thank you korea!!

Perilla powder is amazing, especially in soups! I add some in broccoli soup - makes it creamy without actually using dairy☺️

I'm lactose intolerant, so I typically avoid creamy dishes, but now I really want to try using deulkkaegaru as a substitute. I wonder if it will work in creamy tom yum?!

I have used perilla leaves and perilla seed oil, but never perilla seeds themselves. I love mushroom soups, and I get brown and white beech mushrooms in my weekly produce box, so I bet I would love this!

We made this tonight and it was fantastic! The umami flavors were wonderful. We picked up perilla seed powder from H-Mart, but it was hard to find. Next time, I might just go with the link you recommended. Thanks again!

Maybe you can share some of the recipe that suitable for cooking with the ingredients (perilla oil and seed)? appreciate it!

Isn't this Sesame leaves seed powder? I'm always confused cuz I know Perilla leaves as SHISO (JPN) and the Korean wrap leaves as EGOMA (in Japanese) Sesame Leaves. The flavor is so different.... Your soup looks amazing~ Oishi so~~
