I lost both of my parents to intense drug and alcohol use by the time I was 16 years old. Everytime I hear this song, I get very emotional. It's a feeling of immense sadness mixed with determination to be strong in my life today.
I first listened this song back when I was having a hard time from yet another failed toxic relationship and my addiction to weed was getting to the lowest point. A few months later thank God I got to a point of suffering enough to seek help. Hope you find your way, you are not alone my friend, someone is watching from above. God bless you.
I fell in love with this song two years ago when I was battling with addiction. As I am german I usually don't understand the lyrics instantly so as I realized this song is about addiction it was like "this is no coincidence!". I am sober for 8 months now. Thank you Baroness for this little gem of a song!
This is modern rock music at its best. Dynamic, sexy, mature, progressive and elaborate. So much talent. These guys are basically the forefront of evolution in terms of music. Mastodon as well. Rock on \m/
Does this ever happen to you. You'd be listening to some band and say "Well this is some decent stuff". Then after some years you put this on again and say "GOSH I WAS SO STUPID THIS BAND IS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!"
+Vadim Shaporov Yeah, what the fuck is up with that? I did that with Trivium and Megadeth. Years of 'meh', then one day I realized "HOLY SHIT THEY HAVE SICK MUSIC." With Baroness, the 'meh' phase lasted only about a week, so thankfully I didn't wait years to realize how kickass they are. Cheers mate.
+Theodore Vasilopoulos (Ted) I gotta go with both of those bands on that one.... Sorry man! I'm not trollin' I promise, you like what you want to like, and screw the rest of us, but....for me, yeah... Dave Mustaine makes my bile rise up. "Holy Wars" and I'll love it....but please don't tell anyone. I'm an old punk rocker and I got my street cred to think about, you know?)
I cried seeing them live last Monday at the Ramkat when they played this. It just hits so hard. Lost too many people and almost my self in these last few years. 😢

@@TheRealAb216 Down in south america, we're kinda lucky in this regards, because opioids are strongly restricted and very hard to obtain in the black market. They´re used in medical environment (and even so, it results in some health professionals becoming addicted to the likes of morphine due to their access to the drugs, although it's not an endemic thing). I once went through a very "delicate", although minor, surgery in the private parts, nothing to really worry about once it was a simple procedure, many years ago , but when people will mess with your dear johnson down there with hooks, blades and needles, it can get you pretty anxious. So they administered some opioid as an anesthesic while it also settled down my anxiety. At the time, I already had experience with recreational drugs, mostly marijuana, alcohol and, on a few occasions, cocaine. So I knew the meaning of feeling "stoned" or "high" and when the opioid hit me, for the Christ sake, it was the fucking BEST feeling that I ever felt in my whole life. I felt like a GOD made of light and infinite happiness. I mean, I was laying in a surgery, doctors messing in my dick, but I still was feeling in the mood to flirt with the beautiful brunette nurse that was assisting the doctors. And when I felt that the buzz were waning off, I looked at her with a smile and asked: "More, give me more...", and then my father looking at me (he was one of the doctors, by the way, which was good, 'cause, dude, having a stranger operating your dick seems way worse in what is stressful enough, lol), which, of course, made clear to him that I was doing drugs at that time. But yes, due to this minimal experience, I could realize the darn hell that would be opioid addiction, because it is so good that you don't bother to feel anything beyond that and once toleration strikes, you are fucking doomed.
Simply, another great band that doesn't get the recognition they deserve. So glad I'm finally discovering them after seeing their albums countless times in CD shops, picking them up curiously, and never buying them. May actually buy some the next time around.
I bought yellow and green on iTunes the day after it came out. Literally he next day I bought red and blue. I know have them multiple times on CD and vinyl. I’ve kind of gotten out of hand. I was at this show. They’re amazing live.
I decided to put this album on the other day like I have so many times before and this song hit me like a ton of bricks because it was the first time listening to the track since my dad died 2 weeks ago. It's absolutely tragic that he's gone at only 62 years old, but I've known for a long time now that he was on his own march to the sea with the lifestyle he was living. Whether it's one of the drugs that Baroness sings about in this song or it's abusing alcohol and smoking more than a pack a day for 40 years like my father did alongside a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet, some people will just march themselves into the grave and leave their loved ones to pick up the pieces. I miss you, Dad, but I can't help but feel that you tied yourself up and jumped in the sea and it breaks my heart.
I stumpled upon Baroness during a spotify session. Never heard of them before which got me surprised. I usually never miss good bands. Now I am pretty much obsessed. And to see they can really perform live is amazing
I miss this era of baroness. super good vibes following seriously hard times. but, alas, such is life...onward we must go. congrats on gold and grey, another beautiful composition. Much love
Yellow and Green is a lighter then the Red and Blue album. I like this song from green and yellow. But man I miss that blue and red heaviness. O well. Rock on Baroness
I was here. This was one of the most important (and one of the best) shows I've ever been to. That's me in the front near John wearing the Eagles hat. Pete and John were so happy to be performing again, you could tell. Nothing quite like seeing Baroness live.
Heard this song in amazon music app (was listening to a radio station centered around Opeth) while driving down Atlantic ave, and that was 2 days ago and this song is still on repeat on whenever I’m at my car and whenever I’m at home and I just woke up this morning and the first thing I did was listen to it again. The feeling I got when I first listened to this song is similar to when I first listened to metal by borrowing my classmate’s CD player and the first track I heard then was song of the damned by soilwork and just recently 2 days ago when I listened to March to the Sea, I felt the same feeling as I did then so many years ago, minus the bad memories of high school. Thank you for making this song, I know it doesn’t mean much coming from a random comment but I really do appreciate it and I will listen to a different song from baroness and put it on repeat as well.
The dynamics of how beautiful and quiet and then loud and rock n roll heavy (in the same song)!this band gets is what I love about them. That and the rythm section.... they are just so good and such a solid foundation for the dual guitar solos and riffs pre-Gina and post.
What an amazingly powerful , sad & intense song Baroness have the ability to come up with songs that constantly blow me away....but this is a special one for me
It really brings me so much joy to see a band that nearly died a year ago get back on that horse and bring the fucking noise. Killer performance from a killer band.
