Could easily see him activate the buyback clause for Carreras from Benfica, a perfect young wingback. Also, I can see him play Antony quite successfully in those half spaces on the right, alongside Bruno (which would finally have a teammate alongside him who closes down opposition). Antony playing narrower would be👌
As a Porto fan i can tell you right now, the parelels between United and Sporting are amazing. When Amorim signed, Sporting had a new President and board, Sporting hadn´t won the league for 19 years, 3 and half years later, Sporting is the best team in the league. Sound familiar?

When you watch this, you realise that we are not so far away with this system, these players (plus 1/2 new recruits) and this manager. I'm full of hope going forward with Amorim. Such a change for me: from the doldrums to the depths of despair (hyperbole, maybe?) with this manager; the way we play, the results and the league position, to the idea that we COULD salvage something out of this season with Amorim. Thanks for this content, keep up the great work.

22:18 - Statman Dave said exactly what ive been thinking all afternoon. I'm pretty sure Ineos had Amorim's tactical preferences in mind when they went into the transfer market this summer.
Really good analysis, as always. Absolutely spot on. On a personal level, I'm just glad I can root for Amorim again (former Benfica player and fan, turned our rival's manager).
I still think Antony will have a chance to revive his career at left wing back. There needs to be a left footed player over there. The Portuguese coach might be able to communicate the ideas to him better.
I was saying this to one of my friends yesterday. He's an attacking player who can come back & defend. Given United's current injury list, it's worth a try.
@@bbqR0ADK1LL Ashley Young the Second? Although he was a right footed wide left player. Back in the day when wingers were converted into full backs, not the other way round. I've forgotten the name of the right winger converted to right full back, but he put in a shift too. The Elephant in the room is the number of Sicknotes in the playing staff, needs to be sorted somehow. AND there needs to be a B team equally capable for those pesky midweek cup matches so the A team can properly rest for the premier league weekend matches and accumulate some serious points. We will start to see if there is any potential there at the weekend.
The biggest issue is his mentality. Always kicked off whenever ten Hag put him at left-back. If he can accept a new role under a new manager, who could thrive there
Sorry, but Antony is such an arrogant man. He had hissy fits when pressed into playing LB twice in emergencies for his team. He has a chance ,here, at resurrecting his career in a different position. Antony is left-footed and will be able to put in good crosses from the left (byline); he has a great engine which will enable him to get up and down the wing. He is a reasonable tackler (FBRef) among wingers. Amorim's WBs don't do that much defending; a pro player should be able to adapt/learn to play in a different position. Will Antony do that? I suspect not. He'll be sold at a massive loss.
The days of good ageing wingers moving to wing back are gone . Footballs been made that technical and over thought. Each position is essentially a specialist position normally drilled into the players from 18/19 once a position has been found/decided. Modern players , especially United's would get depressed and sad being told they are changing positions in their mid 20s. Football seems to run in cycles , but the size of club united USED to be , this isn't a quick fix . This manager doesn't work, it's more players , more money and more panic !!!
Thank you for saying Sporting Clube de Portugal's true name. I'll miss Amorim so much, Man Udt fans need to have patience, starting in November with players that he didnt pick, could be tricky, but he will def improve them.
The rumours that we could be looking to bring back Alvaro Fernandez, who has a buy back clause, make a lot of sense now. I would actually be surprised if this doesn't happen.
Great analysis, Dave! With portuguese as my mother language, I can tell you the "ç" (c with a tail) is pronounced as an "S", so Gonçalves is pronounced "GonSalvez"
I hope the board keep Ruud with Amerim this season. I think he’ll help him understand the club atmosphere & culture way faster. Also Ruud won the cup final with PSV using the 3-5-2 so they might be a good combo working together.
Hes been REALLY good since he ended his partnership with Lindelof imo. But I think Evans is more dependable than Maguire, but both are really good backups for De Ligt
Touche. Maguire always good in 3 CBs setup. I believe De Ligt-Maguire-Martinez would be a solid option. We also have Yoro/Evans as back up when they are healthy. Would love to have Fernandez back as LWB with Amass/Malacia as cover. I hope I am not asking too much
Squad looks good most places except lwb to me. CB's maguire and de ligt suit the central perfectly, lisandro and shaw for the left, mazzroui and yoro for the right... the forwards, if amorim can be them a bit of onfidence and coaching are full of potential.
Always enjoy how you present the tactical aspects of the game and the types of skills needed and how current or players needed to be recruited address the process as a whole.
Just for starters, I don't want to see our players keep passing back to the keeper when options in front are available but somehow our players don't want to try to find the pass under EtH, so they prefer to pass back until back to Onana.. who then more often than not kicks the ball forward, and finds the opposition player 😭
I have been talking about using 3 at the back for years for Man utd. Hopefully it will be implemented and be a success. I agree that we have the players to suit this system perfectly.
Seeing how Amorim developed Geovany Quenda (17year old right winger-wingback, scouted by City&United) makes me excited to see Harry Amas as a LWB. For the midfield, the work-rate is vital in those positions. So I think we’ll see less of Casemiro and Eriksen in the starting XI. And more of Bruno + Ugarte until Mainoo comes back 😍 Cant wait to see Amad back in the game as well. That right n10 role would look very excting for him🔥🔥🔥
This analysis is fantastic, totally comprehensive and there were always examples and reference to every single points of analysis that you made. Great job!
It's probably my toxic optimism but I think Antony could excel in that LWB role. He's quick, aggressive (to a fault sometimes), actually very strong defensively... it limits his opportunity to run into corridors because he'll have 4-5 players in front of him, let's him cross with his strong foot, and stops him taking ridiculous pot shots from 25 yards.
Watch him revert to a 4-4-2 with Maguire up front after the players struggle to understand his tactics and give up 75 minutes into the second game. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Ten Hag did not tell them 'run around like aimless idiots and fuck up every chance you get'. I watched them give up on a system based manager in Ragnick 60 minutes into his first game. I have little faith.
dont't forget the leaks after that game, said that rangnick training session is tiring boring and oldschool, that rangnick first half is glorious, but RR chane his system to 4-2-3-1 to acomodate you know who
People like you are just traumatized. He’s inheriting a decent amount of talent to have a starting point. With a new manager now i imagine we will be spending in winter window
@@CliffTooth He's inheriting the same pile of dogshit that ended up breaking Ten Hag after only one season..........these players are beyond mediocre, and there are several key figures in the dressing room that are utterly toxic.
The squad definitely seems more suited to this system, I like the idea of the inside forwards and full backs overlapping to supply crosses. Hopefully this will enable us to build up and sustain attacks rather than constantly trying to capitalise on turnovers and giving the ball straight back to the opposition
It's not a huge change for him. He doesn't want to play as the main striker, but playing more central and being more involved would suit him well I think
Because as injury prone as he is, Malacia has been non-existent and we have no other options currently. Literally talks about other options for short term later on such as Harry Amass and trying to look to strengthen.
with Amorim, Luke Shaw will be in the squad for a long time. Unless he is toxic in the dressing room. He likes to keep players that are somewhat past their prime and that contribute positively to the dressing room environment. And besides, Amorim likes to keep mix defensive minded wingbacks with offensive minded ones. With the possibility of Luke Shaw playing as a centre back as well, I see him staying at United for a few more seasons. Amorim bought and kept Esgaio and Matheus Reis for a long time, even when they were criticized for their lack of "talent". He also kept Luis Neto in the squad, even though he was pretty much retired and would make the occasional cameo.
A lot of things are starting to make sense now with Amorim’s appointment. Such as why the club were targeting so many CBs in the summer. De Ligt, Yoro and seemingly still interested in Branthwaite but priced out. And then signing Ugarte when Ten Hag clearly wanted Amrabat. Also not signing a left back that we desperately needed. All of those things make a lot more sense in the context of Amorim.
Don't sleep on Casemiro. The man is pure class and now not being the main pivot, will free him up to create more killer passes and if the ball came out to the top of the box, id take him over everyone on the roster to take that shot.
Great video. You’re one of the first analytical videos that I’ve seen to mention how high the wing backs will be, especially the right one. Catamo last season and Quenda this are both left footed and high in their take ons, so will often link with someone inside to either go inside themselves or little for a little underlap/overlap. He will fluctuate a bit with us early on I believe with Amass being the more attacking option and perhaps Mazraoui being the deeper one linking up with Amad, Garnacho or Rashford on that side, with Bruno as a 10/very attacking midfielder on the left linking up with Amass and Mainoo
I completely agree on your point about Shaw and I think it applies to Dalot too (although I do agree there is a chance for improvement) I believe he will look to someone else, perhaps even Antony if he can finally show something in a United shirt (unlikely I know)
You spoke my mind in the end. I was also thinking they might have decided in the summer to bring Amorim sooner and signed appropriate players from him. They even might have consulted him on which player he wants lol
Has everyone just decided that Malacia will never play again, even though he's in team training? I'm surprised that you mentioned Ethan Williams ahead of him.
Exactly. He’s also still young and learning. He’s aggressive and has the passion. Not to mention him locking up wingers that had been cleaning shaw up for years
Legendary walkthrough. Made me subscribe. I’m super excited for this, but like many other Man Utd fans the last 10 years I’m not getting my hopes up. But this does feel like there might be an underlying plan. Maybe the plan wasn’t to sack Ten Hag, but that another manager can come in and “inherit” most of the team to fit his system seems like a good plan B.
This confirms that ugarte was a board signing and not a eth signing. No wonder ETH didnt really wamt to play ugarte… this means that ashworth was eyeing amorin for some time now and started to get his type of players in
But a better fact would be the fact we got both yoro and de ligt. Clearly both will want to start and martinez was already at the club. Guess they anticipated the amorim appointment and hence the 3 at the back
i really do wanna refrain from getting carried away but this genuinely looks like a perfect fit for us and amorim; lets just hope this works out for the best
As a Chelsea fan, I wouldn't be surprised if United go after Chilwell in January to play LWB... This is the formation Tuchel used at Chelsea, and Chilwell flourished in this formation.... I also think this change could give Mount a second chance at United.... He's good enough to play as the 8, but can also play in the attacking midfield role
I don't care what formation/system he plays, aslong as he gets the team performing and getting results. We've seen these fancy formations before, to Moyes winger system (involved lots of crosses) to LVG slow possesion system to Jose's 4-3-3 pragmatic system, Ole's counter attacking 4-2-3-1 to Ten Hag's play out from the defense dutch style.
I lowkey think there was a secret deal to bring in Amorim given how our summer signings Yoro and Deligt slot perfectly into a back three, Yoro was especially weird and should have set alarms ringing
Dude. You nailed the fuck out of this episode. Seriously. None of that dragging people along with rubbish like most TH-camrs talking about football, but actual informative opinions on what is likely to happen. Bless you statman.
How does this compare to the Ajax of ETH? I seem to recal ETH wanting to overload, switch play to move the opposition via full backs and quick inter play between the central players
ETH didn’t have the balls to play the football that got him the job. He tried making up random shite on the job. Probably proves that it was all the Ajax system and not him but anyway we don’t need to chat about ETH any more.
ETH used wide wingers and inverted fullbacks. United don't have the players to pull that off and every player he signed failed to fulfill those roles. The difference between Amorim and ETH is that Amorim already uses a system that suits alot of our players.
An excellent breakdown Dave. A good clear explanation of the tactics and as a Manchester United fan I am actually looking forward to seeing his tactics in action. And I have a good feeling about Amorim and I think he will deliver us a title…like I said Klopp did at Liverpool.
You'd be hoping that Garnacho isn't stiffled, really exciting player I love watching him. He gives me the same feeling as watching Ronaldo as a child back in 03-06 before he really took off He wouldn't not really suited to a wing-back postion outside of just doing a job for the team, or playing centrally as an attacker as ideally he's getting the ball out wide and taking on the full back Other than him I think the other players look like they'd flourish under this system
@@mm2801 did you watch Ronaldo back when he first started at United? Because as a life long United fan that was my childhood. Bags of talent, a certain arrogance, capabable of moments of quality, but extreemly raw. Short memory, no matter how many times he got dispossesd he still took on the full back again and again, and Garnacho is the exact same same.
@bryankennedy7790 tell me you wernt actually watching back then 😅 Ronaldo fundamentals were never in question when he was in uniteds first team. His issue was decision making. Garnacho dribbling isn't tight, his touch isn't either. Ronaldo never had those problems he didn't lose control of the ball or run it off the pitch regularly, he could actually reliably pass the ball to his team mates. Garnacho has scored a few spectacular goals but his finishing is actually poor missing the target or straight at the keeper because he isn't a good striker of the ball which again ties back to my orginal point he's footballing fundamentals are poor. Just look at the numbers and his shot to goal ratio 🤣😅Young Ronaldo and him share nothing in comparison apart from garnacho doing his celebrations. There's a reason he looks better from the bench because he isn't intelligent consistent or reliable. His particular brand of head down kick and run then shoot from everywhere football is best served in short spurts.
@@mm2801 reducing Garnachos style to 'head down kick and run' is absolutely ridiculous either you don't actually watch football or you just don't like him and are just shitting on him because of that And Ronaldo reliably passed to team mates opposed to Garnacho? in the full 04/05 season when Ronaldo was the same age he had 9 assists all comps., Garnacho has 4 already and its not even December And the 'shoot forom everywhere', I remember the main argument I used to have to deal with in Ronaldo v Messi debates in school was Ronaldos shot conversion, because he always took on way more shots from everywhere on the pitch And you're also neglecting the fact Ronaldo came into one of the best teams in Europe a team managed by Sir Alex that had unbelivable talent and leaders all over the pitch (Ferdinand, Neville, Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Ruud), Garnacho 20 is playing at a shambles of a club and is averaging a goal involvement every 100 mins Now I don't think Garnacho is ever going to reach the levels Ronaldo reached, definitely not for as long as he kept those levels up anyways, but that's not my argument
@bryankennedy7790 when I said pass to to mates it was in refrence to his poor completion. The rest of your comment is fluff you didn't adress his poor ball striking abilty nor his ridiculous shots taken number despite being a poor shooter. You've fallen foul to the propoganda garnacho is midtable winger at best subjectively and objectively If you look at his leauge output when he started 32 leauge games. He's rubbish and if he didn't play for united and copy ronaldos celebrations united fans would be honest about his level
i haven't gotten through the full video, but Sporting do not play out of defence by raising the mid centre back to midfield. what usually happens is one of the wingers goes up the field on the flank, with the central defender on that side opening up to that side of defence and one or two centre mids coming back to get the ball. the opposing wig back will also stay back to start play from there, which usually allows them to 1-2 with one of the centre mids in alternative to exploiting the back space of defenses, like you point out. it usually transforms a bit into a 442, with one of the attacking mids also dropping closer into midfield to build up. usually this was pedro gonçalves. i've edited this as i go through. more recently, Sporting have been playing with a cross footed right wing back and it has worked wonders, so mazraoui or dalot could very well work as a left wingback too
This Englishmen's obsession with Luke has to be studied lmao🤣 Man was fit for 1 season in his entire United career and this people are still so obsessed with him. It's like having a superpower to fly but everytime you fly you become blind
Its quite pleasant to see this squad is made for Amorim. I can see many tactical options with this 3 4 3 with two players for each position, setting up for a more attacking or defensive option.
What happens when half of this team isn't available. Then we're left with players that don't fit the bill and the tactics won't work. This is partly what plagued ten hag but we didn't care.
Davies is real Madrid bound ....i would rather go for di marco or theo Hernandez or even that fulham left back , forgot his name ..Robbertson i think ...yea all these options have one thng in common...attack attack attack , which is what this new coach likes from his wingbacks But id also like davis tho ,we need some pace at our backline i feel we lack that Martinez,de ligt ,they aint fast
At this stage United managers are like Tinder dates that looked unreal in a photograph.......10 years before your date. You want to be optimistic, but my heart has been shattered too many times. 💔
The fact that Alvaro Fernandez (the guy that got sold to Benfica last summer), I think he is a really good profile for that left wingback position, with a cheap buy-back clause, anyone think it's a good pick?
I was shocked we sold him. We were desperate for a left back last year and still sold Williams, Fernandez and Laird. If we have a buy back clause they should bring back Fernandez for sure.
The first team you have laid out is almost exactly what i would send on the pitch. I think Antony would be the best option at the left wing back. Amass can still be promoted to the first Squad. I aswell think Zirkzee could do a great job as 9 and 10 however the problem is there is no depth in 9 position so Amorim might be forced to keep one on the bench constantly.
Amorim will def need to find the right combo for his front 3. I agree that Hojlund and Zirkzee will likely share the 9 as both will need rotation. For the 2 attacking mids, we have lots of good options but i do worry about how much possession Bruno, Garnacho and Rashford give up. I rate all of them but maybe pairing one of them with Amad balances things out a little.
@@wilder17 if u want to balance to wingers out i think its a weird idea to try and do it with another winger innit? If Garnacho and Rashford cannot adapt to that position, moving Mainoo into the double 10 or Mason Mount would be a better idea. I habe the feeling garnacho can be great in that position
Got to love a statement Dave video. The teams we both made are so similar. I am worried about the lack of use of 2 wingers as we do have 4. Rashford, garno, Amad and Anthony.
Pretty sure Amorim’s center CB steps into a 6. That’s not DeLigt. That’s more Martinez. Unless the 6 simply sits and protects but from what I’ve seen it’s also key to progression when the 10 is marked.
@@sudharshanve8519those physical limitations are what stop martinez from being anything more than a b level prem defender expect more defenders to be bought in the next few transfer windows
@@mm2801 I am sure all basketball players make up great defenders isn't it?? Heights of stupidity. Martinez is right up there with the very best of centre backs in the prem.
I think tonights Sporting match was really interesting to watch. It's clear the analysis videos aren't really scratching the surface of what's actually going on. They were so well drilled and the behaviour of the opposition obviously dictated what pattern of play the team went into. It was interesting to see just how helpless the opposition felt, barely able to break into sportings half, clearly knowing that everything they tried to break out of their own half has already been thought of and was quickly and mechanically shut down. A couple of minor mistakes from Sporting were the only chance the opposition had and their only goal was a deflection that VAR would have ruled offside if it were in the Prem. Looked like it was Amorim's last game, though, as despite winning 3-1 the team walked around the pitch, applauding the fans, looking like someone had died. Amorim also left the pitch the second the final whistle went.
I still think it’s too early for Amass or Williams as a solution at LWB. It would be good to see them get some games but they will be behind first team player options to begin with. It will be Dalot or Mazraoui to begin with, hopefully Shaw if he can stay fit, maybe Antony is better suited to that position too. I’m not sure Garnacho will work at wing back but he has been one of our best players and I don’t see an obvious position for him in the new structure which is worrying. Ultimately, the difference between ETH’s team and Amorim’s will be the same players but switch out a winger for a CB. Hopefully that creates more space in the right areas for Fernandes and Rashford. They are the guys who should be scoring the goals and they have been well below par recently.
I feel like amass would get in cause amorim used quenda..of the other players don't excite him he doesn't care to not play them it's one of the differences between ten hag and amorim
Dave don't get my hopes high, I am getting ready for another two-year cycle of results improving under the new manager and then imploding in the second season.
Part of me is excited to see anorim come in and get united playing a 3 at the back formation which is something new and fresh, part of me is pessimistic becuase there was all these videos about how ETH’s tactics dominated Eredivisie and UCL but he couldn’t get anything going in the premier league 🙃
I feel obi martin and hojlund will be great strikers..i can see zirkzee more as an attacking mid under this system as his ability to hold the ball and link up..his physiciality is an issue
Awesome that Garner got sold for peanuts and in the meantime he's becoming an awesome Trippier-ish right wingback with great crossing. Also Angel Gomes... I'll never forgive the person who's responsible for their sales.
@@rocarolan2003 They did that with Carreras, the left wingback. He's doing awesome and hopefully the buyback clause will be triggered... Too bad they didn't do the same with Garner and Gomes.

🤝🤝🤝
Amad would be way better in that inside role then Rashford. Amad is better in close possession allowing him to be more tricky and quick 1 2s.

The rumours that we could be looking to bring back Alvaro Fernandez, who has a buy back clause, make a lot of sense now. I would actually be surprised if this doesn't happen.
Watch that happen in the January window

Great analysis, Dave!

Awesome. Thanks mate.
I hope the board keep Ruud with Amerim this season. I think he’ll help him understand the club atmosphere & culture way faster.
Also Ruud won the cup final with PSV using the 3-5-2 so they might be a good combo working together.
Been waiting for Dave’s breakdown to see what Amorim could offer (I mean only 24 hours but still 😂)
Great work as usual Statman Dave 🤝
Could genuinely see Maguire having a new lease of life as the centre of the back 3 in Amorim's system tbh
@@simajayaredevil we will get exposed for having no pace between those three CB, usually at least one has some pace
Lol you think that slow prat is going to work in a fast paced system, well done. 😅
I’m sure Amorim is aware of Alvaro Fernandez at Benfica and could want him back. Amass isn’t ready for me.
How will he be ready when he isn't been played
Apparently we have a buy back for only 16 million for Alvaro. That has to be his first signing, surely?
You would hope so

This is the one I was waiting for, you’re crazy good at analyzing bro
22:01 love the optimism that Mason Mount will actually play any football ever.
I had honestly forgotten about him!
@@afkaosius same 😭😭😭
Just for starters, I don't want to see our players keep passing back to the keeper when options in front are available but somehow our players don't want to try to find the pass under EtH, so they prefer to pass back until back to Onana.. who then more often than not kicks the ball forward, and finds the opposition player 😭
Exactly..how many times have we seen this 😢
I have been talking about using 3 at the back for years for Man utd. Hopefully it will be implemented and be a success. I agree that we have the players to suit this system perfectly.
Ole used it well but wasn't great with mcfred maguire and victor
Seeing how Amorim developed Geovany Quenda (17year old right winger-wingback, scouted by City&United) makes me excited to see Harry Amas as a LWB.
For the midfield, the work-rate is vital in those positions.
So I think we’ll see less of Casemiro and Eriksen in the starting XI. And more of Bruno + Ugarte until Mainoo comes back 😍
Cant wait to see Amad back in the game as well. That right n10 role would look very excting for him🔥🔥🔥
Bruno in a double pivot is scary maybe against the smaller teams it can work
Amad is rubbish, no grit
@@FreezeGoo phahahaha a double pivot, what does that actually mean?
@@bpsolutionsltd209 say that again 😂
This analysis is fantastic, totally comprehensive and there were always examples and reference to every single points of analysis that you made. Great job!
It's probably my toxic optimism but I think Antony could excel in that LWB role.
He's quick, aggressive (to a fault sometimes), actually very strong defensively... it limits his opportunity to run into corridors because he'll have 4-5 players in front of him, let's him cross with his strong foot, and stops him taking ridiculous pot shots from 25 yards.
He is awful. Should be sold
He's too stupid for a highly technical role like that
Been calling for this for months now
Parrotting rants i see😂
@@ShaquilleOatmeal730 parroting what?
Watch him revert to a 4-4-2 with Maguire up front after the players struggle to understand his tactics and give up 75 minutes into the second game.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Ten Hag did not tell them 'run around like aimless idiots and fuck up every chance you get'. I watched them give up on a system based manager in Ragnick 60 minutes into his first game.
I have little faith.
Spot on
I still remember those glorious 1st 45 min against palace with Rangnick 🥺. I really thought we were cooking.... but then we saw what happened.
dont't forget the leaks after that game, said that rangnick training session is tiring boring and oldschool, that rangnick first half is glorious, but RR chane his system to 4-2-3-1 to acomodate you know who
People like you are just traumatized.
I think if Martinez pushes forward over de ligt, the style will fit more. De ligt is slow to recover and Martinez can head hunt further ahead
the issue is can rasfhord etc actually take on the tactical changes? I dont think so
It's not a huge change for him. He doesn't want to play as the main striker, but playing more central and being more involved would suit him well I think
Then they'll be sod. No games this time. We coming for everything
SOLD
I think having to be narrow and not being on the touchline as a winger might be good for him
Sick of hearing about rashford. Get rid
7:09 . It's high time that we should move on from Luke shaw. I don't understand why every creator include him in potential squad.
I asked on twitter and you delivered, appreciate boss
most underrated football channel. Great work Dave!!
Why not sack Ten Hag in the summer then?
And waste 17mil sacking a manager?, manutd a charity club now?
@@HaeBae_x yeah would love to know the answer to that
@@HaeBae_x to prevent fan's backlash
Still need to get that left back. We were even looking at frimpong last summer which would be perfect for this system as well.
great value Dave! pushed all that in a 24 minute video deserves a Sub 👍
This is such a great video. Really informative, well done!
Has everyone just decided that Malacia will never play again, even though he's in team training? I'm surprised that you mentioned Ethan Williams ahead of him.
I’m with you on this, I think he can come back strong
Exactly. He’s also still young and learning. He’s aggressive and has the passion. Not to mention him locking up wingers that had been cleaning shaw up for years
Honestly I think a lot of us forget about him being at the club
He also forgot Maz, one of the best technicians on the ball the club has right now
Who? 🙄😭
Absolutely brilliant video, thanks for all the hard work in putting it together. Making me feel more excited about Amorim coming in.

So true 😂😂😂😂

Legendary walkthrough. Made me subscribe. I’m super excited for this, but like many other Man Utd fans the last 10 years I’m not getting my hopes up. But this does feel like there might be an underlying plan. Maybe the plan wasn’t to sack Ten Hag, but that another manager can come in and “inherit” most of the team to fit his system seems like a good plan B.
This confirms that ugarte was a board signing and not a eth signing. No wonder ETH didnt really wamt to play ugarte… this means that ashworth was eyeing amorin for some time now and started to get his type of players in
You have a genuine point
It was berrarda. Amorin was touted pep’s replacement by berrarda when he was at city
He got every other player he ever wanted bar de Jong and still delivered garbage
But a better fact would be the fact we got both yoro and de ligt. Clearly both will want to start and martinez was already at the club. Guess they anticipated the amorim appointment and hence the 3 at the back
@@isrln yep it all makes sense, the players bought in the summer and the speed at which Amorim’s been appointed. This has been the plan all along.
i really do wanna refrain from getting carried away but this genuinely looks like a perfect fit for us and amorim; lets just hope this works out for the best
All that attacking talent and you didn't even mention Antony. STACKED!
This is the only video I was looking forward to. Thanks Dave. Let's hope we achieve something with this appointment

How does this compare to the Ajax of ETH? I seem to recal ETH wanting to overload, switch play to move the opposition via full backs and quick inter play between the central players
ETH was weak. Let's see what Amorim is made off.
😂@@GWhiteNDO
ETH didn’t have the balls to play the football that got him the job. He tried making up random shite on the job. Probably proves that it was all the Ajax system and not him but anyway we don’t need to chat about ETH any more.
ETH used wide wingers and inverted fullbacks. United don't have the players to pull that off and every player he signed failed to fulfill those roles. The difference between Amorim and ETH is that Amorim already uses a system that suits alot of our players.
No predefined patterns of play. Watch the Atlantis football channel, they just made a video on this today

You'd be hoping that Garnacho isn't stiffled, really exciting player I love watching him. He gives me the same feeling as watching Ronaldo as a child back in 03-06 before he really took off
He wouldn't not really suited to a wing-back postion outside of just doing a job for the team, or playing centrally as an attacker as ideally he's getting the ball out wide and taking on the full back
Other than him I think the other players look like they'd flourish under this system
The similarities between him and ronaldo start and stop at the celebrations be real!
@@mm2801 reducing Garnachos style to 'head down kick and run' is absolutely ridiculous either you don't actually watch football or you just don't like him and are just shitting on him because of that
And Ronaldo reliably passed to team mates opposed to Garnacho? in the full 04/05 season when Ronaldo was the same age he had 9 assists all comps., Garnacho has 4 already and its not even December
And the 'shoot forom everywhere', I remember the main argument I used to have to deal with in Ronaldo v Messi debates in school was Ronaldos shot conversion, because he always took on way more shots from everywhere on the pitch
And you're also neglecting the fact Ronaldo came into one of the best teams in Europe a team managed by Sir Alex that had unbelivable talent and leaders all over the pitch (Ferdinand, Neville, Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Ruud), Garnacho 20 is playing at a shambles of a club and is averaging a goal involvement every 100 mins
Now I don't think Garnacho is ever going to reach the levels Ronaldo reached, definitely not for as long as he kept those levels up anyways, but that's not my argument
Excellent analysis this. I’m actually excited now! I hope he brings Amass straight in at LWB, with the protection of the 3 CB’s 🙌🏻
For the LWB position we can possibly buy back Alvero Fernandez.
i haven't gotten through the full video, but Sporting do not play out of defence by raising the mid centre back to midfield. what usually happens is one of the wingers goes up the field on the flank, with the central defender on that side opening up to that side of defence and one or two centre mids coming back to get the ball. the opposing wig back will also stay back to start play from there, which usually allows them to 1-2 with one of the centre mids in alternative to exploiting the back space of defenses, like you point out. it usually transforms a bit into a 442, with one of the attacking mids also dropping closer into midfield to build up. usually this was pedro gonçalves.
i've edited this as i go through. more recently, Sporting have been playing with a cross footed right wing back and it has worked wonders, so mazraoui or dalot could very well work as a left wingback too
This Englishmen's obsession with Luke has to be studied lmao🤣 Man was fit for 1 season in his entire United career and this people are still so obsessed with him. It's like having a superpower to fly but everytime you fly you become blind

Harry Amass LB DEFO and WB
@@wilder17 if u want to balance to wingers out i think its a weird idea to try and do it with another winger innit? Got to love a statement Dave video. The teams we both made are so similar. I am worried about the lack of use of 2 wingers as we do have 4. Rashford, garno, Amad and Anthony.
Pretty sure Amorim’s center CB steps into a 6. That’s not DeLigt. That’s more Martinez. Unless the 6 simply sits and protects but from what I’ve seen it’s also key to progression when the 10 is marked.
De ligt is a ball playing center back more that capable to step into midfield

Part of me is excited to see anorim come in and get united playing a 3 at the back formation which is something new and fresh, part of me is pessimistic becuase there was all these videos about how ETH’s tactics dominated Eredivisie and UCL but he couldn’t get anything going in the premier league 🙃
Can we stop talking about playing Luke Shaw please? He’s gone as far as I’m concerned. Plus the new Call of Duty has just been released
