The short answer is Yes. The long answer is that it depends on how much sunlight enters your home as UVB enters via glass too. Curtains need to be super thick to cut out UVB. You could use a moisturiser with spf though- if you are going to be indoors strictly.

Yes definitely, u hv to use a good moisturizer after retinol or retinoids because it can dry out ur skin. So use a good moisturizer which has either of ha, ceramides etc
It really depends on your skins journey. If you see my how to apply retin a videos I talk about this...if youare going through retinization process one has to use moisturiser as it helps to ease the dryness. For me, i dont use it every time...it depends on how my skin is feeling.

Neutrogena is good suncreen. If the moisturiser is working foryou dont change it ...we need basic moisturisers in skincare as the actives are anyway being introduced separately. So dont worry about it as along it has hydration and moisture.

Hi Subhechha, I have not yet finished reviewing the kojic acid and arbutin combination. That said I beleive that alpha arubutin is such a great ingredient / active that it really does not need any support from another ingredient to be formulated with it. So if you are introducing alpha arbutin to your skincare my suggestion is to go for pure alpha arbutin. You can keep it as part of your skincare long term. its a great active...i love it.

I would leave the salicylic out on days I am using this retinoid. the routine would be cleanse - wait 20 mins- HA-Niacinamide (you could switch this order too..its really a preference I have switched when in a hurry and not found anything amiss)- 5 min gap and then this retinoid. moisturiser.

I am glad you found ut useful. If you are referring to retinoids as in tretinoic then moisturizer goes before. If its retinoid 2%then its after. Same with retinol, after.

I am so glad you found this video useful. It was so long but I could nto get myself to make a short, surface-level information video on retinoid given how one has to use them responsibly. Yes you can use Niacinamide and alpha arbutin with this Granactive retinoid. Give it 5 min gap. But please use alpha arbutin +HA combination. I am not sure of kojic acid and ALpha arbutin formulation YET (its on my review list but some months away)! So at this point I would not advise combining that with retinoid since i have not tried it myself...and if you do try it please share your experience.

YOU MUST wear a sunscreen irrespective of whether you are using retinoids or not. YOU MUST wear a sunscreen when you are using retinoids. YOU WILL THANK me 10 years later when your skin is looking fresher and younger than those around you who dont wear sunscreen. I dont like to mix anything with my retinoids. cleanse retinoid moisturise Oats moisturiser is a product that the minimalsit made in a hurry to catch the bus on moisturisers- it pills over actives, under sunscreens. I would expect a much much better product considering the company has the a business of manufacturing actives and they encourage their customers to use ALL The actives possible. kisinae test nahin kiyaa kee moisturiser kaisae use karengae over thier actives. silly. chek out my vid on moisturisers and pick what works for you- keep it simple.

Yes you can. AHA is for dry sensitive skin. BHA for oily skin and PHA for sensitive skin. I love aha sleeping mask from Dot and Key... and I also liek the Pixi glow serum but it is strong...so use it only if your skin is usied to high percentages of vitc and retinoids. If you are just starting out then I dont advise it.

Sushmita, you have to go through the entire retinoid playlist before you start any retinoid. The skin will go through a retinization process and. you have to plan for it and be patient. If you over irritate it there will be redness and inflammation. retinoid in the pm vitc am keep your moisturiser simple and make it has no other retinoid in it or vit c. sunscreen is good. when you are on retinoids the sunscreen will tend to burn a little especially when your skin is going through the retinization process. the barrier is disturbed so expect that...

I the start I used minimalist every alternate night with niacinamide for am and alternatively for pm, but when I get break out in period time so I use it for 4 5 days for daily and my break out is gone
If you are careful to not get it inot your eyes you can. with nose folds use little qty and same with mouth. Let your skin guide you...if it gets red go slow by reducing qty.

Mam can I use it , am sensitive dry skin one ,also acne prone and have open pores issues with acne marks. Does it cause purging, if so how many days will it take to purge to last ( I hope the purge will not be as bad as strong retinols )
Best bet is to add a good chemical exfoliation and collagen building serums...to help lighten the scar. If you can afford to then consider a cosmetic doctors help for resurfacing lasers.

I am glad you like the video... I am quite surprised so many people found it useful. I thought it was too dense with information but I just couldnt get myself to make a surface level video about a retinoid. This is my longest video! Your question is very valid. I dont have a straight up answer so I will share my opinion here. Tretinoin is well researched for transforming skin while HPR is like a new kid on the block- its good, fancy and shiny but it just does not have the research to back it up on the results YET. So if you are using the 0.5% my suggestion would be to stick to it in the long term. Since you already have bought this retinoid 2% give it a go and see how your skin responds. When i used the retinoid from The ORdinary I didnt find much remarkable difference better than 0.5%. So I switched back to 0.5% after finishing the TO retinoid bottle. But I also find using the 0.5% more affordable as it stretches more and also more convenient. So the decision to switch back was based on reasons other than performance. I am using the minimalist now and will post a review in a few months. Please do share how it goes with you if you use it :) Thank you for stopping by!

Hi I'm 25 and have neck lines and fine lines around eyes. I'm very insecure with the neck lines though. I've been thinking of getting my hands on retinoid but couldn't find the ordinary one. I'm interested in The Minimalist one too, which one is better? Also one more question, I stay indoors ( Occasionally go to terrace for hardly 5-10 mins, I avoid going out in sun) so do I need to apply sunscreen? Especially after start using retinoids? I usually use st.botanica vit C sunscreen. So should I incorporate vit C serum as well?
If your house has big windows with a lot of natural light coming in and the curtains are lgith then its absolutely important you use sunscreen indoors. otherwise you dont need to. Neck lines at your age might just bethe way it runs in your family. Its completely natural to have these. Is it just wrinkles you are talking about or darkness? Eyes start using a good eye cream- reequill may be. I honestly feel its important to use eye creams as moisturisers can be irritating at times.

as niacinamide is water-based and retinol is oil-based, niacinamide would usually be better of being applied before retinol since water-based ingredients are absorbed into your skin faster than oil-based ingredients.

hmmmm how many months did you use these for before you felt there was no change. Products show great results initially but later even if you dont see results does not mean the products are not working...

They are both good. You could layer it anyway that works for you just let each product absorb in. I do HA, niacinamide, vitc, AA, azelaic moisturizer. You can add retinol between HA n niacinamide or after niacinamide.

I would leave the salicylic out on days I am using this retinoid. the routine would be cleanse - wait 20 mins- HA-Niacinamide (you could switch this order too..its really a preference I have switched when in a hurry and not found anything amiss)- 5 min gap and then this retinoid. moisturiser.

I am glad you found ut useful. If you are referring to retinoids as in tretinoic then moisturizer goes before. If its retinoid 2%then its after. Same with retinol, after.

I am so glad you found this video useful. It was so long but I could nto get myself to make a short, surface-level information video on retinoid given how one has to use them responsibly.
Yes you can use Niacinamide and alpha arbutin with this Granactive retinoid. Give it 5 min gap. But please use alpha arbutin +HA combination. I am not sure of kojic acid and ALpha arbutin formulation YET (its on my review list but some months away)! So at this point I would not advise combining that with retinoid since i have not tried it myself...and if you do try it please share your experience.

Oats moisturiser is a product that the minimalsit made in a hurry to catch the bus on moisturisers- it pills over actives, under sunscreens. I would expect a much much better product considering the company has the a business of manufacturing actives and they encourage their customers to use ALL The actives possible. kisinae test nahin kiyaa kee moisturiser kaisae use karengae over thier actives. silly.
chek out my vid on moisturisers and pick what works for you- keep it simple.

Yes you can. AHA is for dry sensitive skin. BHA for oily skin and PHA for sensitive skin.
I love aha sleeping mask from Dot and Key... and I also liek the Pixi glow serum but it is strong...so use it only if your skin is usied to high percentages of vitc and retinoids. If you are just starting out then I dont advise it.

Sushmita, you have to go through the entire retinoid playlist before you start any retinoid. The skin will go through a retinization process and. you have to plan for it and be patient. If you over irritate it there will be redness and inflammation.

when you are on retinoids the sunscreen will tend to burn a little especially when your skin is going through the retinization process. the barrier is disturbed so expect that...

I the start I used minimalist every alternate night with niacinamide for am and alternatively for pm, but when I get break out in period time so I use it for 4 5 days for daily and my break out is gone

If you are careful to not get it inot your eyes you can. with nose folds use little qty and same with mouth. Let your skin guide you...if it gets red go slow by reducing qty.

Best bet is to add a good chemical exfoliation and collagen building serums...to help lighten the scar. If you can afford to then consider a cosmetic doctors help for resurfacing lasers.

I am glad you like the video... I am quite surprised so many people found it useful. I thought it was too dense with information but I just couldnt get myself to make a surface level video about a retinoid. This is my longest video!
Your question is very valid. I dont have a straight up answer so I will share my opinion here. Tretinoin is well researched for transforming skin while HPR is like a new kid on the block- its good, fancy and shiny but it just does not have the research to back it up on the results YET. So if you are using the 0.5% my suggestion would be to stick to it in the long term.
Since you already have bought this retinoid 2% give it a go and see how your skin responds. When i used the retinoid from The ORdinary I didnt find much remarkable difference better than 0.5%. So I switched back to 0.5% after finishing the TO retinoid bottle. But I also find using the 0.5% more affordable as it stretches more and also more convenient. So the decision to switch back was based on reasons other than performance.
I am using the minimalist now and will post a review in a few months. Please do share how it goes with you if you use it :)

Hi I'm 25 and have neck lines and fine lines around eyes. I'm very insecure with the neck lines though. I've been thinking of getting my hands on retinoid but couldn't find the ordinary one. I'm interested in The Minimalist one too, which one is better? If your house has big windows with a lot of natural light coming in and the curtains are lgith then its absolutely important you use sunscreen indoors. otherwise you dont need to.
Neck lines at your age might just bethe way it runs in your family. Its completely natural to have these. Is it just wrinkles you are talking about or darkness?
Eyes start using a good eye cream- reequill may be. I honestly feel its important to use eye creams as moisturisers can be irritating at times.

It says that serum shud be used after retinoid.. So if m using niac 10% shud I wear it after retinoid or bfr
as niacinamide is water-based and retinol is oil-based, niacinamide would usually be better of being applied before retinol since water-based ingredients are absorbed into your skin faster than oil-based ingredients.

hmmmm how many months did you use these for before you felt there was no change.
Products show great results initially but later even if you dont see results does not mean the products are not working...

Hormonal pills can make pigmentation worse so it might be hard to handle but she can def use retinoids safely.

They are both good. You could layer it anyway that works for you just let each product absorb in. I do HA, niacinamide, vitc, AA, azelaic moisturizer. You can add retinol between HA n niacinamide or after niacinamide.
