This tutorial sealed the deal for me. I will make this my first smartwatch purchase. Thanks for going at a reasonable speed.
Thanks for the overview. I'm on my third Garmin watch. VivoActive HR and VivoActive 3 were my first two. There are a ton of features. It's going to take a while to customize the watch. 😀
Nice video. Also going through all the glances really helped me a lot to get more out of my fr165.
Just bought my first Garmin product the Forerunner 165 Music, still learning though but thanks to your video it made it easier navigating.
Regret a bit not buying FR265. The FR165 works fine and I like it, but it lacks so many activities like snowboarding, rowing, inline skating, which are all available on FR265
My last Garmin watch add Auto detect for activities like walking and running. I can't seem to find that setting on this watch. Where can I find how to set that up. I can't seem to find it on their online manuals. thanks for the super detailed tutorial it was very helpful.
Does the FR165 has built in sound alerts?? Excelent video.
just ordered my 965 a week ago, can't wait to replace my Galaxy 6. Battery life only last's me a bit over a day without using always on display and not using the watch at all for calls, running, tracking, or anything. If i listen to music, or do tracking the watch will go from 100% to 15% in less than 24 hours.
Awesome video, thank you!
I got a question about the map feature.
When you use the map, but choose a different data screen. Do you still see the direction with a little arrow while you are on a different data screen or do you have to reopen the map screen to see the direction?
When will adaptive Cycling plans become available?
Hi! Question about 165 non-music, I’ve been curious why on the black FR165 in this video, the glances has a quick flash of color every time you scroll down. Mine doesn’t have that, it has a highlight at the side but it won’t flash throughout the glance. Do I have to configure something or does it have a setting that I need to change?
why is the HR monitor so much lower than my arm band or what my apple watch used to show, is there a way of making it more exact?
Did this fr165 cam do threshold test like fr255?
Is it possible to set position settings to display position in Indian grid system like you can do with Instinct ?
Can training effect be used for gym workout?
I am seriously considering a new watch and this one looks very intriguing. I am an avid cyclist and am wondering if this would be a suitable choice as it appears to geared toward running. Thank you
Thank you for your question. While the Forerunner 165 has a cycling profile and will provide training, planning, and analysis features for activities, it has limited cycling specific features. For an avid cyclist that wants a wearable, I would recommend looking at one of our multi-sport GPS smartwatches that will provide more insights for cycling. I included a link below. I hope this helps.

Can you get a bigger band for it ?
I'm new to Garmin after many years owning a Fitbit. This entry level watch is what I'm looking for. I run 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons a couple of times a year. My question to you is, when it comes to GPS/tracking runs, does this model or any other Garmin model require having a phone with you on runs, cycling, etc?
No. Nearly all Garmins have a built in GPS and most of them (including the forerunner 165) have awesome accuracy.
Thank you for your question. Most Garmin watches have a GPS receiver built-in and do not require your phone to record GPS activities, like the Forerunner 165. With that said, some Garmin watches do not have a GPS receiver built-in and rely on a phone connection for GPS data. Below is a link that shows which Garmin smartwatches are "connected" GPS devices and will require a phone connection for GPS tracking. I hope this helps.

Wheee is the "Auto scroll " during activity on 165?
Does Weather glance option to add different locations? Do you have video showing you being in Kansas and adding weather from eg. Seattle? Or maybe Paris, France?
Thank you for your question. The Forerunner 165 does not have the option to add multiple locations to the Weather Glance.
Thank you for the video. I recently purchased this watch and when it arrived I got 80% and it said 9days battery left. After using it for three days, the battery is down to 30% and I think it drains too fast. Seeing your video, it says 15 days with 85% and it seems like all of the features are on in your watch. I personally, use low brightness, no always on display and gesture but it still lower than yours. Can you please tell me how to increase battery life? Thanks!
Thank you for your comments and question. Sorry to hear you are not getting the battery life you were expecting. There are a lot of things that can affect battery life, specifically any activity that uses GPS. However, if you feel that you are getting an unusual battery life drain please reach out to our Product Support team at 800-800-1020 or support.garmin.com. They will be happy to troubleshoot to see if there are any underlying issues of concern.
Hey I live in Kansas as well 😂
Just don't see the point why not including the skiing profiles on the FR165, having a barometer included and all. I realize this is supposed to be your entry/budget models. But you have to realize that the FR165 is not a budget watch in every country/region. In Norway the watch is more pricey (USD350) than in the US (USD245), and there are other brands offering this option for a similar or close price. If you add ski profiles this watch is interesting.
Weird thing to exclude. I don’t ski so never thought about it, but that seems kinda basic.
Why does it say on the website that 165 has Dual Frequency/Multi-Band GPS but i can't find it in the settings? Will there be an update?
Thank you for your question. The Forerunner 165 supports Multi-GNSS - not Dual Frequency/Multi-Band GPS. The built-in sensors connect to multiple satellite systems - allowing for faster position acquisition than GPS only, and increased performance in challenging environments. The following link shows how to get to the Satellite Settings where you can select "All Systems" if you want to enable multiple satellite systems. I hope this helps.

has this watch reply massage with t9 keyboard feature like in new vivoactive 5?
I'm also wondering. If you figure it out can you please let me know and I'll do the same.
Thank you for your question. You can send a "quick reply" to a text message using the Forerunner 165 by selecting from a list of preset messages. This feature is available only for compatible Android phones. The following link has more information and will walk you through the process. I hope this helps.

Can you use hotkeys to assign button for timer or wallet?
Thank you for your question. The Forerunner 165 does not have the hotkeys feature.
Is this Watch suitable for gym or will Vivoactive 5 be more suitable? My previous Garmin is venu sq….
Thank you for your question. When it comes to gym workouts, the vivoactive 5 and Forerunner 165 are very similar - with minor feature differences. Below is a link comparing the vivoactive 5, Forerunner 165, and Forerunner 165 Music. You can compare all the features of these devices, or check the "Show only differences" box to just see what the differences are. I hope this is helpful in your decision.

How did Garmin get the weather information? From internal sensor or just sync from ur phone?
@@brucelin5842 Weather is a smart feature that comes from being synced with your compatible smartphone.
@@GarminRetailTraining please advice weather I should get Garmin 165 or Vivo active 5 for gym use?
I was shocked when I did not find a charger in the box ... you know ... to charge my new watch. I have to buy a USB C to USB A adapter to both charge it and connect it to my computer.
Do i recieve call notifications?
Thank you for your question. Yes, with the smart notifications feature you will receive emails, texts and alerts on your watch when paired with your compatible smartphone. You will be able to see that you have a call coming in and from whom.
Just very upset, why 2024 still using pogo pin instead of wireless charging 😢
Because wired charges faster than wireless.
The ridiculous differences in software between your watches are inexcusable. You need to get your stuff together, simplify and unify the software. There's way too many watches and way too many silly differences - it makes choosing your watch so confusing!
