The best honest, simple 165 review I've heard so far. The highly produced ones are often annoying.
Question - does the HR band connect to the watch or your phone?
Thanks Surf, the HR band connects to the watch.
Adan, I just stumbled upon our video as a TH-cam recommendation, and I loved it. Your energy and honesty are superpowers. I'm definitely subscribing and looking forward to seeing more videos from your journey. Keep pushing!
I pretty much stumble through everything and so happy you found my video and made the effort to leave me a comment. I really appreciate your encouragement and look forward to sharing my journey!
Great job. You are amazing. Love listening to your videos. You will get there. ❤
Thanks, Laura. I appreciate your continued encouragement.
What am inspiration! I'm crawling back up from a steep burn out. I do different things as only running would be boring, but I just found out that for the first time in my life my cholesterol is high (I'm only 32) and that is largely due to a healthy lifestyle having fallen apart over the last year. So I now have a 5K and 10K in May and half marathon in September in the Garmin calendar. Not sure if I'll partake, but I'd really love to be a faster runner again and at least I'm training for them now.
I hear you loud and clear. You can certainly make it happen if it matters enough to you. Go get it!
Nice and straight.
Cool video man. Loved how you spoke openly
Thanks, Doc!
Keep On like this, Adam Tinkoff!
Keep on keeping on! Thanks Adan.
All the best in your training! I was really relating to this.
I started wearing a Garmin Instinct 2 in December to pay attention to my body, after “training” by feel for 28 years. At 46, I need to be smarter about my heart health finally. Not just redline it all the time.
The data and coaching on Training Readiness, Body Battery, HRV etc. is interesting and helpful, coaching me to a more effective, injury free approach to running and biking.
We’re on the same road! All the best to you bro. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and all the best on your training.
Nice. I just started running last June at 31. almost a year in and can't believe the difference it has made. So far I have lost about 30 pounds and my mile time went from 15 or 16 min mile in the beginning to now 7:56. I have done many 5ks, A single 10k race, and a single 1/2 marathon. I plan to do the half marathon again this year and cut about 1.5 hours off of my time. keep teetering with the idea of a full marathon but scared lol. I use the apple watch Ultra and honestly you probably made the right choice the apple watch makes me angry with many different things for running use. I plan to get a Garmin just haven't yet. Keep up the videos.
Congrats on all of your success so far. You are a super hero!
I’m here for the question answer. But stay because of your energy.
Thanks for watching!
dang, now I’m hungry 🍕Great work!
I love pizza! lol. Thanks.
Best of luck 👍
Thank you 🙏
It's the absolute best entry level Garmin since years. Feature packed, yet doesn't cost a fortune.
I would agree. It’s a great value.
Great video
I will! Thanks Oreo.
Moving is the most important thing. And yeah, I often tell Garmin that I'm doing a "run" workout just for fun. I have yet to try the Forerunner 165, but I did enjoy the Forerunner 955. I prefer the EPIX 2.0 on my left wrist right now. Nice thoughts about this entry-level smartwatch. Best of luck with your race training...
Thank you for your wisdom and kind comments. 🙏
Happy to help your channel grow with likes and pithy comments 😁@@CoachAdamRuns
I have Been using Garmin 265 for 4 months and let me tell you . I Love everything about Garmin . I also Have Apple Watch 8 Gps , I dont wear it since the time I got garmin . what ever garmin You have , it is still better than any apple watch.
As a lifelong Apple fanboy I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I entirely agree with you. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Spot on. I've tried Galaxy Watches, Apple Watches, Ticwatch etc etc. always come back to my Garmin's. Now Garmin have Amoled I'm never going back and trying any others.
They are different products.
Garmin is sportswatch, Apple Watch is smartwatch.
all the best
Thanks. Same.
I bought a 165 and setup the watch face, which included an elevation data field so you could access that information as needed. After the first update, that feature was removed and you can no longer access the elevation data outside of an activity. After reaching out to Garmin, they told me they removed the feature to "differentiate" the lower end device as such. To remove a feature that was previously there as soon as you release the product, which contains the hardware for the feature is a really bad look. I opened up a case with Garmin and they verified the presence before, the the lack of the feature after the update and told me they would reach out via email to update me on whether this will be aded back. So far, I've not heard back form them ...sad.
Frustrating for sure. I'm not sure why Garmin would think taking away a feature is good for their customer base. I hear you.
Super sad. I returned the watch.

Garmin 165 has SINGLE GPS BAND. Just so you know. I love your video though!!
Yeah, I figured that out. Thanks for pointing that out.
The 265 has it all
In u train mostly in gym would u recommend this or vivoactive 5?
Depends on what you want out of a watch. The Vivoactive is more stylish, and designed for general fitness including gym activities. The Forerunner line is as the name suggests, optimized for runners, but has most of the other stuff. Thanks for watching!
This watch has more buttons and will be useful for marking reps and changing the weights etc.
Hi, thanks for your honest opinion. Im trying to figure out if training status/ load data, is shown on the garmin app. This data is not visible from the watch itself. Can you tell me if this is shown on the garmin phone app. Thanks in advance.
I don’t see it either and it’s not included as a feature on the Forerunner 165, so I’m thinking it only on the watch.
@adamtinkoff thanks for the reply! You mention training status/ load is shown on the watch? Do you mean it's shown ont the phone app?
Yes, yes. My old brain got that bass-ackwards. Sorry.
Here in my country the price of that watch is a whooping 365 Euro .........
Wow! That’s expensive. Thanks for letting me know.
Пиздец
