    Kickass man! Hey if you don’t mind me asking would you mind making a video picking apart things you wish you had known when you first started your business? I am 26 looking to start my own company in the next couple months and am trying to get all the advice I can! Thank you for the content and thorough reviews as well.

      I haven't really started yet, I actually bought this for personal use for the most part, and decided it would make a good side gig, I might have some more content coming up where I get into the business side of it, but haven't done enough of it yet, I'm sure theres plenty more qualified people then me for advice. Thanks for watching, good luck, hope it works out.

    What they should have done with that tarp bracket is come out with the short horizontal piece off that lower frame member then came up with the vertical and put some gussets to strengthen it up. They just need to make that turn under the deck. The way they did it was just dumb. Im also not a fan of them not having any gussets on it as is, there is a fair bit of tension on those plus bouncing down the road. As you said that flat deck could get a lot wider without that tarp bracket. It would be nice too to have a couple angles welded under to help align the dumpster better if just slightly off. Hopefully someone at TP will take notes and fix some of their design issues.

    • @townsendliving9750
      @townsendliving9750  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is everyone is gonna want something alittle differnt, cant please everyone with the same design. But the nice part is you can buy this trailer and have a good base to start from, and then just make the modifications you think you need as you go, atleast that's my plan. I haven't had much time to.work in it yet, but will make a video of the changes I make one day, probably next spring

    13' 6" is normal high limit on big rigs without oversize, not 14'6" mentioned (21:44) van height/width inside normally is 8.5x8.5 (102") with standard height of 60". Standard height on stepdeck is 42"

    • @townsendliving9750
      @townsendliving9750  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be, I'm not sure where I got 14' 6", I have heard 14'6" dozens of not hundreds of times, that may be a bridge or overhead power line minimum, which would make sense for them to have truck maximum height a foot lower. I worked in the oilfield moving frac tanks, and we always made sure we were 14' or under, but that may just be local stuff.

    The reason that the flat deck/ plate is not wider
    Is your very top heavy and prom to rollovers if not on a flat road or going around curves!
    Because it’s so much higher than the frame of the trailer any equipment you loaded up on it will have to stay far inside the wheels for center of gravity purposes

    How is the texas pride trailer holding what are the cons?

    • @townsendliving9750
      @townsendliving9750  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far so good, cons are side boxes dont open when container is on, the tarp system snags the boxes and bends, I did that 3 times so far. Manual Jack's suck when trailer is loaded heavy, nearly impossible, alittle bit slow to dump but I'm a pretty patient person. I have loaded this thing to 50k pounds and it still dumped fine, most those cons I can fix if I'd just take the time to do it, I also wish I had the ability to load more then 15k pounds safely, like 20-25k pounds would be nice, but this has been working good. I rarely go over 5k pounds.

    So I know it says this is a year old but im wondering if you still have it and how the actual trailer itself is holding up. I'm looking to but just the roll of trailer from Texas pride because the double door don't hold up well on there bins. But texas pride is the only one that has a 18k 16ft set up that I can have derated at 17 to keep me under cdl limit but still run a 25yd can. So I'm just curious to how the trailer itself has held up for you

      @townsendliving9750  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything is okay, nothing has really fell apart, but I have several inconvenient issues, but I own a mechanic shop and we can pretty much fix anything. I still have the flat deck but I'd say it was a waste of money, money is defently better spent on something like a small tilt deck. The dumpsters are okay, some issues with rear doors but nothing terrible, worst case scenario is you have to rebuild them, which doesnt seem like a big issue to me, but I dont use this thing as hard as most people are going to. It's not a everyday use item, I'd say a few times a month at most

But I only wanna spend once besides bins. I can weld fairly good and worked as a mechanic for several years with steel so if I had to do some fab work or maintance needed to be done tgats not a proublem for me but I don't want to have to rebuild a unit I just spent 20k on either. that flat deck is totally useless for moving any real equipment, i bet a pick up over hangs on it, there is no need for that deck to be so narrow or that high off the ground even the bins dont need to be so high, and that tarp, and line up should not have to move the truck once your lined up to the front, it all in the very pour desin of the whole thing, just looking at it, i can pick out over 30 things wrong and how it should be built, i learned these things 50 years ago. they count on customers to order by photos that are taken at angels that dont show the real deal, and why they dont supply a spec sheet

      There is a forklift on the flat deck right now, I have picked up excavators and skid steers and vehicles. It's the only trailer I have that will load this stuff. There are defently better tilt deck type trailer of there, but for the 4 grand to add on the flat deck it wasn't a bad option. The dumpsters are a pretty decent design, you can tell the flat deck was a after thought and pretty odd design. But the trailer has more then been paying for itself, I have had 3 and 4k dollar days, and consistantly thousand dollar weeks, and i have a full time job doing other things. I basically only use the dumpster on the weekends. So its serving its purpose, and I haven't even started on my personal project, which is why I bought it, I need backfill, theynwasnted almost 30k dollars for backfill on my property. That one job will pay for the trailer in a few months.

    • @townsendliving9750
      @townsendliving9750  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just wanted a single wheel trailer, not sure if it was the right choice or not, you're only getting 6k more pound capacity with duals, not sure if they have a higher rating then 26k, but their web site say 26k pounds is the heaviest. So that's 3 more yards of gravel or dirt. Not a huge difference. But I hauled 7.5 yards of gravel yesterday, and it wasn't really that much gravel, makes for a small pile on the ground. I think I can haul more, the trailer didn't really care, the truck didn't care, it pulled good. But that put the trailer at 20k pounds, so technically maximum capacity. If anything I went to big because you technically cant hual this trailer without a CDL. Stay tuned, I'll get some more experience and share my one year review one day
