Using a Snatch Block to Load a HEAVY Dumpster on a MAXXD Trailer

- It's always something! Today we were suprised with an insane load of shingles from a roofing crew. Quite a bit of weight for these light duty dumpster rigs. But the Maxxd roll off trailer handled it like a champ. The tires....not so much.
We also took the opportunity to show you how to use a snatch block on one of these rigs, and how beneficial they are to have in your tool kit!
A snatch block can literally DOUBLE your pulling power. Loaded this dumpster with ease.

Literally only a couple pounds off! I'll take it! Message me with your shipping details!

You loaded that being like a pro. No question you know what you’re doing. Great job guys.😀👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Appreciate that man , it was a "fun one"
“There was like ZERO drama with the snatch block”
-by far my favorite saying now 😂
Haha ironic right
🤣snatch
Snatch box was a great idea!
Handiest tool in my box for sure
@@rollingops hey I personally admire the way you run your business, the way you grow and hustle! I’m debating between a skid steer rig and watched your videos but I feel dumpster rental would be more accessible to start with. Do you have suggestions on contracts and do you charge the customer the waste disposal fee once you drop off? If so, is there a better way such as included disposal fee? Thank you!
Start putting your winch in "free spool" when your pulling out rope. Saves your battery power and will help your winch last a little longer.
Yea looking back I should of just done that
This is one of my favorite videos!
Thanks! I think I blocked this day out of my mind, lol! But it worked out
@@rollingops you the man Rolling.
Your videos are a huge help!! Thank you
Glad you like them!
WIsh I saw this video before hauling off 16 tons of copper!! Great video will definetly use this method in the future.
Yep! Always carry a snatch block! Life saver!
Copper ? Did ya sell it ?
Winches are the strongest on the first layer. Need to leave at least 3 wraps on the drum for the rope to hold.
Thank you!
So I watched this video before doing my first shingle job. Guessed around 10klbs. Somehow my load in my 14 yard weighed more than yours. My first load was 15,840lbs. Luckily the roofing guys were cool and didn’t have next 3 rentals over 8k lbs. Great video!
Yea, always try to limit them to about 40 sq if you're running a similar setup. Do those all the time and you're just asking for trouble!
had 20000#s the other day on my rawmaxx trailer i can’t believe it even went up and on. had the truck tires in the air a foot and a half. very sketchy. i wish we had a snatch block that day but the ole warrior winch did the job :)
Those warriors are literally 🔥. Stay safe, I've been there, it's not fun.
About to go pickup an RPX getting ready to get into this mess of roll off trailering. I plan to build some interesting skids to use with the trailer.
Very interesting content on your channel all the time 👍
Thank you kindly!
Wow! Live and learn
For real!
holy crap look into 16 ply trans eagle tires! great video brother
Will do! Wrote it down to look at next
I did a little over 10000# load a coupla weeks ago, then a coupla days later did an 11000# on a Max D gooseneck, ceramic tile out of a 2500 sq.ft house,I use a soft shackle next to the winch and a billet snatch block with another soft shackle connected to the D-ring
Nice! Yea, we make sure to keep a snatch and soft Shackle in both trucks
That tire can be plugged without removing and or jacking. Vice grip pliers to pull the screw, use your plug reamer or drill bit the size of the reamer. Plug and go.
I take my tires to be patched. Too much weight involved
Do you do your own maintenance on the trailer? I would be interested on a video about that educating on certain things that need to be done and how often as well.
I'll see what I can do! But yea, I typically do all the maintenance myself!
I just took delivery of my brand new 2022 MAXXD roll of trailer bumper pull and am super excited. I am a little bummed as quality control may have been slacking on my trailer as the single jack seemed to be have welded on crooked (nothing to crazy but also definitely not straight) and same with the hitch coupler (not as crooked as the jack) you think I should reach out to MAXXD? Honestly I don't think it interferes really with the function of the trailer but just a little of a nuisance.
I would maybe reach out if there are mechanical problems for sure. I will admit I seem to get very lucky not ever having issues with my trailers. Quality wise. But I will say I am sure every trailer manufacturer is turning these out at a much higher rate of speed than they did before, so I'm sure some things could get over looked.
Dang man. Just getting the the flat tire part. You guys have to put up with a lot 😅😅
Yea today was not ideal. And to be honest the rest of the day didn't get any better!
I’d just use a 20 ton jack for the trailer, if it was empty than I’d lift it like this, I do it this way with my tilt deck gooseneck
It depends if it’s three tab or architectural shingles. Architectural shingles I would say 9.8 tons, three tab I would say 6.8 tons
ever thought of drilling a couple drain holes in the bottom of the dumpster?
I have but need to male bigger ones. The build up with stuff
Do you hook up a 2 gauge wire from truck battery to the Rolloff maxxd trailer? If so, do you hook up the 2 trailer batteries parallel style? If you do, how do you connect the 2 gauge positive and negative wires?
I have not yet hooked my trailers directly to my truck batteries. But it's definitely on my list of 2023
Use snatch blocks to multiply your pulling power to take down large trees. Lining up off other trees to maximize will amaze you.
Literally just did this recently, always carry one in both trucks! Never know when you need it
Winches are strongest first layer, every other layer takes more % to do the same load, thats why big winch trucks have long drums but only maybe 2 layers on. Also the red shown on the line is a no go zone, i always say i dont go less then 8 wraps
Good insight!
Sorry if I missed it in a previous video. How many ply tires are you running? Surprised how many punctures you have to deal with, although dealing with roofing materials it’s not shocking to pickup a few nails.
All my trailers run 14-16 ply tires.....except this new one. Still have 10s. Going to wear them out and swap them. Been so busy I haven't even taken the time to fill these with goo. Which usually prevents this!
I just tend to record my really bad days 😆
How do you charge roofing jobs?
Would like to hear from others as well
Happy hauling
I charge the rental, and every ton after 1 ton. But limit them to a 40 sq roof
14400 lbs I'm usually pretty close I've done roof tear-offs but it does matter if it was 3 tab or architectural shingles.
12000 lbs I did a 60 squares roof and that’s what it came out to be on my PJ rollster trailer. Combined weight truck and trailer 26,280
That's only 200lbs a square, those are some pretty light shingles.
He knows how many layers are there when he bids the job. In my area - they never want to pay the difference. I dont do roofers. (Blast me if you want.)
What brand of Snatch block is that? I'm looking to buy one
@@patrickgallegos8246 the really highly rated one on amazon
How much was the rental price and profit ???
First
Yeaaaa buddy
Awesome video. Are you under cdl with 40 square ?
With 40 sq I can roll on to the scale just under 26k lbs. But that's with my specific truck and trailer setup
@@rollingopsare you running the 14’ 14k or the RPX 16’ rated 19-21k?
also how many squares of roof do you think is comfortable to haul away?
In a maxxd, I limit them to 40-45 sq
Can I reach out to you ?and get some advice real close to buying my first roll off trailer.
Hit me on Facebook, I try to answer everyone I can. But a lot of people have reached out. Hard to stay on top of
@@rollingops I don’t have a Facebook
How do you know what to charge for the job?
Flat rate for dumpster rental and the follow up with weight based on how much is dumped at the landfill
16,500 roughly to accommodate for the extra layers that you also mentioned that was unknown about
Shingles I can get close but how many brick/mortar was there. My guess is 7.49 ton or round to 7.5…..
Did you try this without the snatch block first?
No, wasn't going to risk it. It probably could have loaded fine. I've done that heavy before without issue, just backed underneath. It was just a lot of stress on the winch.
Ahaha you don't even want to know what I did without a snatch block lol 😅
My exact diet 😂
😃
Man that snatch block should help save the life of winch right?
And one thing I've learned is always always buy the strongest tires money can buy when you deal with heavy loads thats the first thing to go especially at higher speeds overload tires build heat and let go.
Yea, tires absolutely hate me in general. But yes snatch blocks will help your winch have a long life
How big is that Dring shackle?
So going off of your calculations roughly about 50 squares which is equal to approximately 10 tons. So add in the brick and some of the other wood and I'm going to say my guess is 11 tons
Per square what? Foot? Yard?
A square, in roofing lingo, is 10 feet by 10 feet.
Some of you are soooo close. Here is a hint: it's not 6.75 tons.....but it's not 7 tons either.
Ok, my first guess was a bit low ;) 13,785
I think i would have put air in that tire and waited until you got it dumped but I don't know all the details
@@davidpowell6012 it was a gusher. Definitely would of preferred that as well
Heavy load, looks like 5 tons at least. Had a 20yd full of ice cream and cam out to 10,000 lbs. Problem solving!
Ice cream?!
@@rollingops Grocery store freezers failed. Sadly there was like a whole pallet of seafood as well, and other frozen meats.
One thing I learned get a regular dumpster truck those trailers ain't no good, i had one .
@@fredbancroft6436 lol. Ok my friend
Bungee strap on the chain will help
He knew it was triple layered. Contractors are the worst
I don't disagree
I’m a roofer by trade so I better get this right 😉 My guess is 11,625 lbs.
could you have loaded without a snatch block?
Yep! We probably easily could have. Especially since we were able to roll under it. Snatch block just strained the winch way less!
@@rollingops perfect thank you reason i ask is i had a customer request a 14yrd for 16 sqs single layer and that binis way above the fill line so i was a litlle worried
Ur wrong on the wraps of cable on winch, the more cable on winch drum less pulling power,if u only have about 5 wraps of cable on the drum u get max pulling power from winch,,for every snatch block us use cut the load weight in half, some say it makes winch strong,,WRONG,nothing can make winch stronger than how it was built unless u change gears or motor on winch, for every snatch block u use it cuts the load stress in half,so 10,000 lb rolloff straight winch line,ir witching 10,000lb, put a snatch block like u did cuts the load stress in half,so ur only having 5000 lb pulling stress an if u put another one so use 2 snatch blocks u cut 5000lb down to 2500lb pull stress, more snatch blocks less winch an cable stress less strain on winch motor an less strain on battery's so winch last longer,,but u did good stay safe an keep up the good work annhope u stay busy.
Thanks for the clarification!
That was way too dangerous of a situation man. I would recommend buying a air over hydraulic (pneumatic) floor Jack or at the least a heavy duty bottle Jack to raise the trailer with the load. And set a Jack stand under for safety. It would save a lot of time as well.
God forbid something had failed while your employee was changing the tire. Could have been ugly, putting you and your company at risk.
My guess is that load was pushing 20k
I mean you're not wrong at all. At the end of the day, this was a messy setup. And I could have been smarter about it. I would never ask my employee to have done it the way I did either.
@@rollingops I hear you man. You got to do what you got to do with what you have. It ain’t easy storing all those tools you earlier rarely need. Bottle jacks and stands are a must have with any mobile business.
@@CuidadopisadoI was looking into doing Hot Shot driving with a 25’ trailer to start and a bottle Jack is the first thing I bought . He’s got some great information here . Now to buy the trailer and equipment that he’s worked with .
16,859 lbs. I think you could get a portable compressor for times like that.
Oh man, I have one! this was so flat you could hear it hissing quick. Thought about just plugging it, and pumping it. But kinda sketchy with something that heavy!
I haul 40 yard Dumpsters up to 15 Ton ,Debris
w DODGE HD 5500 (24,000)TRUCK + (45,000) Trailer GCVW
The Tires you NEED Are 245 - 17.5 with 12 K axles
put flat out in your tires you'll thank me later that's what farmers put in tractor tires it has Kevlar in it not a gimmick like fixaflat
I’d say that dumpster was about 19,000lbs (9.5 tons)!😬
I would have let it ride with that nail and dealt with that after dumping
That angle on the video of the tire didn't do it justice. When the dumpster was loaded, it was literally on the rim. Flat as could be
Ok, yea well that sucks ass then. Way to stay positive after such a crazy load having to additionally change the tire
@@ariesdumpsterrental2573 it is what it is for sure!
8.5 ton
I’d say probably close to 13,000 lb
Hhhhmmm interesting maxxd doesn't have a snatch block hook by the winch like texas pride

Sometimes. But that winch is heavy and the rops likes to pinch and tuck wich is why I use the motor to unspool it. I have another winch that I freespool all the time because it's lighter and more free.
