I have, just didn’t record much from it as I was in a rush to get the car ready before realizing my block was toast. Also, I didn’t strip and coat it, just a quick and dirty spray paint job for now, but I reinforced it and dropped the LCA front pickup to S14 position.
@@signal_msw Cool. Don't have this one dipped. If you're dead seat on anything, just have it blasted and then powder coated. Once you get it back, cavity wax it. That way you won't have to screw around with filling it with foam and you'll get a nice clean result. I actually just picked up a spare for my project and I'll be doing that process in the near future. I'll be starting a build thread soon on zilvia.
@@signal_msw You know of a place that has a vat for e-coating? Sweet. The internal coatings go in after you do your paint/powder coat. Eastwood's internal coating is phenolic resin based, which paint/powder coat won't stick to. The 3M stuff I use all the time after replacing a quarter panel/rocker/frame rail is wax based, and nothing (paint, powder coat, etc.) will stick to it after it's applied. You're powder coater may even refuse the job if it's already been coated with that stuff just because he couldn't warranty the work. It's used as the last step before final assembly. You can have the piece powder coated, just know they will blast the outside, and hit a good chunk of the inside, so I'm not sure if the added expense of E-coating would be worth it.
@@Jared-C Yup! The place that e-coats it is the same place that powdercoats it, so the powder goes right over top of the e-coat. I put my previous comment in the wrong order. It’ll go dip, e-coat, powdercoat, then I’ll get it back and use some kind of extra internal coating, then back in the car.
Looking forward to this project!
Thanks! It should be pretty wild when it’s done!
Great video man! Thanks for the tips
Thank you! Looking forward to more of your videos good sir!
Keep up the good work bro
Will do man, I need to get rocking on this thing for this season!
I know this video is old as hell, but have you tackled the other subframe yet?

Lockout plates 100%.
For sure!
Fd you cant reinforce your subframe :O
Why do you care about FD? I’m never going to run in it, and your subframe absolutely will fall apart from years of use if you don’t.
