I watched one these before I went to bed. Had a dream that I turned into one these people and my house was disgusting. Woke up and immediately started deep cleaning and organizing the hell out of my house.

Tell me about it. I work at a nursing home and people just leave their elderly there and don't visit unless it's Christmas or they're about to die. It's really sad. I call that place the elderly dump because people just dump their old parents there without care.
they say you can judge a nation by the way it treats its elderlies, its disabled and its inmates. Not many would pass the test.
People never think they’ll get old. Those neglectful children are setting an example their own children will follow one day.

Fair play to that man, he needed the help and he took it all in his stride.
I'm from the states.. One thing that I find as a big difference from the U.K. show vs. a similar show in the U.S. is that the U.K. people own up to having an issue right away and they jump in and help with the cleaning. I've seen so many U.S. shows and the folks in those episodes are either in denial OR not cooperative.
That's because they give you only 25 minutes where in Hoarders you see a whole hour. Most people doing this have mental illnesses. Trust me they probably put up their fair share of a fight too. They just take that out to make it seem less daunting and negative and focus hard on the before and after, and tips and tricks rather than the mental health component.
Im from South Africa and I agree with you. It rubs me up the wrong way when they are defensive or dont want to admit their problem.
The show is written differently. Hoarders finds hoarders and focuses on their difficulties and mental illness. Its a real downer. This show focuses on the hosts fun personalities and skills. I love it so much more. I watch this while cleaning

Kim Woodburn is my absolute favourite person on TV!! I absolutely love her! Her character, her humour... everything! I miss her and wish she was on TV a lot more. I love this show because each one is like a little miracle. Just absolutely brilliant 👍

I just discovered this show, after binge watching Hoarders. I'm an instant fan!
Kim Woodburn also does a Canadian show called "Kim's Rude Awakenings" It's about families that are disorganized and often they are hoarders. It's absolutely hilarious. My niece and her family were on it.

If you ever get stuck in such a rut write down a huge list of every little thing that needs doing. Then every day do one thing. If you don't feel like doing much just do a smaller job. If you feel good do more. Just aim for one item at all times if you do more that's great if you don't then that's ok you have achieved your goal of one item :) it's a technique Iv learnt recently :) really helps!
This actually works. Makes it less overwhelming even if it's cleaning one spoon , it's still a job
@@Sewingbee23 exactly. Some days you may clean one spoon and feel in the mood to clean more. Other days the one spoon would be enough but you hit your goal and that is pretty cool :)

Arthritis doesn´t makes you lazy it makes you don´t want to move because of the pain it´s true, but the less you move the more it hurts.

Not really it hurts loads when you do to much. You gotta find a middle.. but ppl shouldn’t judge the man cuz there’s different types and severity’s ... some can’t work due to the pain.
My doctor said if u do some cleaning in house rest for 15 mins then if u feel up to it do something small around house
He can probably keep it wiped up and picked up more easily ....but he probably needs a family member to come in and help him a few times a year with a deeper clean.

I'm 33 years old. I had a stroke last year, and I have very aggressive rheumatoid arthritis. My house doesn't look anything like this. Even on my worst days, when I can barely walk, I still manage to do the dishes and a load of laundry. On my good days I can get everything else done. I know diseases effect people in different ways, and I suffer from depression because of my illness which can be highly demotivating. But if he wasn't able to clean, pay someone to come in and help. Even just for an hour to run a vacuum and clean one room at a time.

The fridge almost made me puke, it was horrifying, can't believe people live like this and do nothing about it. Truly sick.
Maybe he couldn't afford to have it replaced & was saving up for a new one. With having had 2 shoulder replacements due to arthritis, I doubt he could get it out the door himself. It died & the contents spoiled & seeped all over. Shit happens when you're old & on a fixed income. If you noticed, he did have a walker in his home, so he probably had arthritis his spine &/or leg joints as well. Maybe he was afraid if he got down on the floor to clean it that he wouldn't be able to get back up again. An old man with a disability is a bit different from the lazy young couples who can't be bothered to clean.
So you're trying to say everyone with acute arthritis lives like this? Not buying it. This man is a pig, period, his disability works well with his method of thinking because it gives him an excuse to not do anything. You think if he was healthy he would be clean? I don't think so.
No, what I'm saying is that with age & disability combined comes physical limitations. That's more than likely what started him on this downhill slide. Probably began with a period of incapacity - arthritis can 'flare' & lay you out flat - & he just couldn't catch up once it subsided to his 'normal' level of pain, so eventually he gave up. In the US, people with acute arthritis would have a home care aide come in to do housework. Doesn't seem as if they have a program like that in Britain.

@alexcnb, I would love to see you deal with severe arthritis for a week! I've dealt with the pain in all of my joints for ten years. From time to time I ask for help with certain tasks. At times the pain has been like broken glass in every joint. Have some empathy dear. You might be there someday.
Thanks for posting this! I enjoyed watching this a second time through (with over a year between viewings). I don't watch the first part of these shows (too depressing to see the messes); however, I do enjoy the tips given & seeing the final reveal. I would have so enjoyed seeing the stickers off the rest of the kitchen surfaces - it is just too busy looking with them.

First time seeing this show and it's Awesome! Amazing how Channel 4 overseas has some really good shows.
He doesn't looks poor, he could afford a cleaning lady once or twice a week. It's a luxury for me, but a good option for an elderly or disabled person. In my country are social services to do the basic work freely or cheap for people who physically can't do it themshelves.
