Good use of the instant glue! have you heard of the baking soda + instant glue technique? it basically becomes a polymer that's very easy to sand and super strong
I actually like that yellow colour. It suits the outgoing styling. But I understand that you want it to be as close to original as you can get. That also always looked more then fine to me.
I wouldn’t recommend using superglue on fairing parts. It might stick like crazy but the hardened glue is actually rather brittle and therefore has poor bridging strength. A 2 component glue is the better choice. For instance a polyurethane one. No idea what’s exactly in JB weld but since it is not available here in Europe but it seems to work well enough.
You now what. I put quitte a lot of work in a Special based on the Yamaha XZ550, a watercooled V-twin from the same period. It was underdeveloped as well. Always starting problems, electric component going up in smoke, startercoupling failing, Main timing distribution cog securing nuts loosening. If It worked perfectly It was a great bike but It rarely did. So much of what happened to you in the previous video sounds very familiar. Always something going on.
Restoring any bike from the early 80's will be something to experience "wallowing"..... wish to wallow even more, add TURBO to the mix & the stage is set for some prime wallowing stuff. Add the mudd b/c much fun is to come. You'll need girls w/ water hoses to clean ya up after all this? peace man
Tip for the future: Test the surface quality of repair spots by spraying a thin coat of gloss black on them. Turning the part in light after that will show all the remaining small inaccuracies you weren’t able to see or feel before.
I love the silver
Another helpful video for my "restoration"! Thank you man that silver looks tons better than the yellow 😀
Good job! Keep up the awesome work!

i would try to modernize the styling of it. Like new faring, new brake light style and seat design, etc.
