    To be honest - I think these courses are worth over 400 dollars. I am glad John here is showing us this gem knowledge. Imagine how long one would have to take to learn these techniques. You can't learn them anywhere unless you work in the industry...the amount of time an artist invests in his/her time and the years of experience hopping from studio to studio, traveling, going through pain, learning from others - 400 dollars is nothing

    Love these videos!!!!!!!
    @37.24 ish you mention drop down menus as you write your expression. I used right click copy parameter and then paste relative reference rather than your expression to connect the channels of the external box to the pyro object in your dopnet.. I sometimes have difficulty reading the font script in video, even in 1080p, so that was my work around.

      Oh houdini uses backtick for expressions ` not single quote ' or double quote "....like litterly everything else

    thanks very much。it very helpful to me. In addition, I suggest that uploading a higher resolution video. The parameters and words are very small, 1080P video cannot be zoomed in for observation

    Very useful tutorial!!! Can I use the same technique using Pyro solver spars instead of smoke solver??...I try to add a sop solver and gaz particule field but nothing happens lol when I push on play button.may be I did something wrong

    Hey this is great help and I only glanced over it. I'm new to Houdini and I'm looking to make a couple UFO's fly through a cloud. Could I use a technique similar to this to achieve that? Also is there a way to make the cloud kind of static and only get affected by the UFO passing through.
    Anyways! Appreciate the vid! Will be following you on twitch to try a catch you live!

      Hey, I't might work to generate some cloud shapes and bake them to disk. I'd do the UFO sim afterwords, separate from the initial cloud formation process though!

    my sopsolver turns red after i use the expression "opinputpath" ... any ideas ? 39:15

      SOP Path has to be inbetween backquotes `` (tilde key). In this particular example - `opinputpath('..', 0)`

      I think in the viewport settings, it might be:
      Texture -> 3d texture -> hdr rendering is enabled

    I lost with Houdini 19.5, the pyro post-process node is not looks like in this tutorial. I don't know how to follow this tutorial with it, HELP!!!!!!!!!

      hey! I was running into this same problem. I found a solution to get the old node back: go to windows>asset manager>then change the asset definition toolbar dropdown to "show always". Now when you place a pyropostprocess, there should be a little dropdown at the top of the parameters that lets you change the version of the node to the one in this video. Hope this helps!
