1. Recipes are new data structures that help us build and maintain custom tools easily without losing them when upgrading versions. The new MPM solver comes with many fast presets made with the new recipe system. 2. Mesh processing tools in Houdini are strong, and VDB operations are a common workflow. More SDF modeling tools are on the way, but it has always lacked a decent sculpting node for making fast, non-procedural details on top of these procedural models. 3. Everything is compiled. Houdini's new building blocks, aka "APEX," are set to revolutionize Houdini's speed, allowing less powerful machines to work faster with Houdini. In addition to OpenCL and parallel computing, Houdini is overcoming the problem of speed. APEX rig and animation work faster than Unreal Engine, which is mind-blowing. Now, COPs will be powered by the same solution plus OpenCL, allowing you to ditch Substance Designer for procedural texturing. It's even better than Substance because it leverages its 3D capabilities to make 2D textures with the help of Vulkan geometry and volume rasterization. 4. In my opinion, Houdini was surpassed by Embergen for simulations. But the MPM solver demonstrates that Houdini can also make real-time simulations. Unlike Embergen, which only works with CUDA (Nvidia graphics), Houdini uses OpenCL, so it isn't vendor-locked. 5. For me, the super-fast procedural rig and animation with dynamics and physics, like Cascadeur, combined with KineFX and MotionClip nodes, make it the best animation software right now. 6. This software offers great control for making landscapes but GAEA is currently the best software for terrains, the new native integration of GAEA nodes in Houdini allows you to mix the best of both. 7. Vulkan viewport is the most advanced viewport on the market. 8. Feather tools have enhanced the grooming workflow and performance to the point that it is now the best grooming software on the market as well. 9. Houdini Engine API makes Houdini the best-integrated software in Unreal Engine. It allows you to create super-powered digital assets that can be controlled through blueprints. 10. They have the best muscle and tissue system in 3D, but it's pretty complex right now. They said they will make it simpler with recipes, so it will become your best option for these things. 11. Crowds have been simplified now bc the nodes were transferred to SOP lvl and with this new update you can make huge simulations in solaris USD. Unlocking massive crowd simulations beginner friendly. 12. The USD pipeline, Solaris, is the most powerful layout and pipeline framework in the industry and allows you to author USD assets with embedded MTLX materials. All the new workflows now work seamlessly with Solaris. Houdini has become the very best software in several domains now. If you are a generalist, you can accomplish many tasks by learning one software and paying for one subscription. Other reasons to choose Houdini: 1. Houdini is not addon-dependent , meaning you will never have to buy or install anything, and the nodes in your projects won’t break after updates since they are overseen by SideFX. 2. It is cheaper than Embergen and offers a million more features. 3. It has a strong partnership with EPIC, who are shareholders in SideFX. Their developers collaborate, ensuring that integration will only improve. 4. Exemplary development speed, guaranteeing you will always be up-to-date. While other companies are faltering and seem to suffer from neglect, SideFX is showing strength and does not disappoint. 5. SideFX is not publicly traded, which means it does not rely on shareholder decisions. It also has not wasted money on acquiring other companies, having successfully developed its own solutions from scratch. 6.While not as open-source as Blender, they are contributors of USD and mtlx, and they embrace open source tech wherever possible (openCL, openGL, Vulkan, OpenFX, BorisFX...). Additionally they keep the nodes unlocked for people to contribute to enhancements. 7.They have reacted quickly to the potential of machine learning by leveraging TOPs and building an inference engine. This will allow Houdini to perform inference and train AI models. While I don't know if they ll succeed you can be sure that they ll try.
Star Citizen devs talked about using Houdini to create the volumetric gas clouds a while back....but now I really want that Avalanche effect on Microtech!!

Other reasons to choose Houdini:
@@carlosrivadulla8903 damn now that's comprehensive, thanks a lot!
