Mine too. Walked about a foot into the room and the banging/hammering noise on spin scared my cats into hiding. Brand new GE washer with agitator and got scratched from hitting the side of my concrete sink while moving. My items were balanced even when the machine stopped.
Take a circular piece of paper that has a color wheel of 4 colors on it. The color wheel is equally divided into 4 different colored quadrants. Tape or glue the color wheel exactly as you can to the top of the center post and cover the paper with a clear plastic sheet. Put a rubber band around the plastic to keep the water off. Now when the washer is spinning out of whack look at the center of the agitator color wheel. You will see one of the colors on the color wheel and you will quickly learn where to place the counter weights to fix the wobbly agitator post.

I drilled holes in bottom of ring to drain water out and it works perfect. Before it will shake and give code. After i did this no more problems....

Your clothes might not be placed in balanced position but if they are then the washing machine has any mechanical problem that it bangs and dances
