Geoff Tate’s vocals are stunning and particularly featured in their hit, Silent Lucidity. His ability to rock hard yet deliver a ballad with a tender tone is outstanding.

I have loved this band since 1984. Their original line-up of band members were like a well oiled machine pumping out fantastic music one after another. Their catalog goes from hard to ballads to emotional. They got pretty soft during the 1990-2010s, but the band regrouped in 2013 and went back to their original style-mix and their new albums are worth a listen. These guys rock. Awesome band
For not knowing the context of the song, you both did very well with the reaction. Even if you do it on your own time, I beg you to please listen to the entire album (in order). It's a fascinating story that won't disappoint. Just a tip, pull up the lyrics so you won't miss anything.
Their previous album "Rage For Order" is my favorite. So dark and moody. It's like an industrial nightmare. From "Screaming In Digital", "Neue Regel" and the somber closing track "I Will Remember", it's a haunting masterpiece that was way ahead of its time.
As much as I love their other albums, "Rage for Order" is still my favorite. It is truly a work of art.
I saw them opening for Metallica in '88. They were touring behind this album. They were amazing. Do yourselves a favor: set aside an hour and listen to Operation: Mindcrime straight through. Epic storytelling, fantastic music.
"Jet city woman" is another great one from them
Great selection! Geoff Tate has such a great voice specifically suited for this type of music. The Empire album was their best next to Operation Mindcrime
You should really watch the entire album Operation Mindcrime. There's a whole story there ❤
You absolutely need to listen to the whole album in order. It tells a story and it's phenomenal.
Metallica.. but Female Metallica
Do Lovebites Holy War live
So happy you made it back to Queensryche. You have got to check out their live performance of Take Hold of the Flame. One of the best live performances ever IMO
Take Hold of the Flame [Queensrÿche - Live in Tokyo 1984/08/05]
Great song and band, Queensryche is one of the best bands of the 80s and the original lineup was dope right from the start with the original EP, do Queen of the Reich and the Lady Wore Black from it, incredible bangers right away. The are a great band to look at, series of classic hard rock/metal/prog records of musical magnificence, Operation Mindcrime is one of the best concept albums ever! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
I could carry on about my love for this band & how many times I’ve seen them but here are my favorites:
1 Neue Regel
2 Out of Mind
3 The Thin Line
4 En Force
5 I Dream in Infrared
I’ve been requesting their “silent lucidity“ for like two years now… I got so excited when the notification flashed up… 🤦🏻♀️
Gotta check them out in their youth. Queen of The Reich is off their first EP and truly showcases the band in their raw glory. The whole EP is amazing.
