#Rivian #R2 #R3X - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
If Rivian is listening I love the idea of the charge port being on the passenger side for street charging, but PLEASE move it to the front, that makes it work with current superchargers and when towing 👍
Yes this. I know they said they put it in back for cost savings (on the single-motor versions, all HV is in the rear, so they save on HV wiring cost keeping the charge port in the back.) But front just makes sense for towing. Especially with the current setup of Rivian Adventure Network towing stalls!
@@AnonymousFreakYT Front passenger corner is a great idea. Rivian should standardize this across the lineup.
I believe street parking is 220/240 volts AC, so proximity to the car’s converter is important. However, Rivian also needs to think about its potential markets, as well as cost of repair in the event of a front-end collision. The R2 has good potential in the UK, Australia, NZ etc, so if front quarter panels are designed for NACS and CCS2 in Left and Right Hand Drive Markets, they should do well. Either way, the charge points need to be designed for CCS2 outside of North America, even if they are configured for NACS-side charging. So front right seems to be the best option all round, if towing is considered.
Nah. Just put a port on both sides of the back. Solves pretty much every issue with charger placement, and doesn't contribute significantly to costs.
This would work as well. But you are right, they have to move the charge port from where it is.
I was there. The R2 is absolutely beautiful in person!!
😂😂😂
What did you think about the port location? Do you want to carry around a bulky extension that can be lost or stolen just to charge on the largest network on the planet that consists of V3's with short cables? And will still be the case for many years to come? Or would you like it to be moved to the proper driver's side rear?
Similar size as bmw x3?
Back left is stupid. Front passenger is the way. Head in charging with a bike rack/trailer works. Curbside charging is way better. Front keeps cord more out of the way for passengers getting in and out. Frunk is ideal location to store adapters etc while those are still necessary. Still compatible with supercharger network and it's incredibly short sighted short cables.
Speaking of cables, you can't carry around an extension for a liquid cooled cord.
@@michaelcummins5974 Front passenger is the best without a doubt. But they said the new battery design/placement take the front out of the picture for high power DC. Therefore, the driver's rear is their only proper choice left.
R2 and especially R3 look awesome. I really hope Rivian succeeds as a company.
Frankly speaking Tesla has been not changing its bland design due to frugality of manufacturing. That's why Rivian is much much better looking, and more functional. In fact both Lucid and Fisker have much nicer looking EVs than Tesla.
They have been, and they will be. R2 and R3 will be their Model 3 moment. Can't wait.
@nevco8774 definitely true that Fisker and Lucid look nicer. The problem is that Fisker is already on its way out the door with production difficulties and lack of money. Lucid, like Tesla in the past, is burning through cash due to cost of manufacturing and only being propped up by their Arabian partners. Saving time in manufacturing saves money, which is what Tesla is doing at the moment. Hopefully after Tesla releases the cheaper next gen car will they then focus on alleviating the extreme minimalism in their more expensive lineup.
The R2 looks super nice, but that R3 has Soviet Bloc era vibes to me. I'm not sure how I feel about it
@@erich1710well I was born in the USSR and lived there for 30+ years so maybe that’s why I like it the most lol. But not sure if i see it
Personally, being an SUV person, I’m more excited about the R2 than I have been about a new EV in a long time. I agree with Alyssa’s comments of a Scandinavian vibe to the interior. The same I felt in my BMW i3.
Minimalism to the correct level.
Dude the i3 is absolutely perfect imo. Seriously hard to describe how amazing it is in person 🙌🏾
@@roodick85 yes I miss mine like no other car I’ve ever owned.
I miss my i3. I figure an R3 will be in my future, it shares a lot of the same vibes, but Rivian-ified.
issue is, this is coming in 2 years time, by then, what is definition of being excited could change as lots of other models and brands coming out, if this was coming end of this year, yes, but demand and expectations can change a lot in 2 years
Rivian, if you’re reading this, I’d like a sun shade for the glass roof. Even if it’s just manual.
The sun shade personally would help move me away from the chevy blazer RS ev rwd with a sun roof which I am also considering.
Also I'd like to see the glass roof as an option. I'd much rather have a metal roof than all that glass.
@@westernmn1 Tornado Alley hail storms with panorama glass roofs is a terrifying combo
The right size, the right look...Rivian R2!
We have one on order and are really hoping the following features are at least an option:
1. Ventilated seats. We live in the Southwest and love them on our R1T.
2. CarPlay. Come on Rivian give us the option PLEASE.
3. NACS in the front passenger position. This allows for on street charging, Tesla super charger access without compromise and also front pull in if a trailer is attached.
Charge port location - Front, passenger side fender between the front wheel and bumper. That is the one place where it can charge on all available public DC chargers right now. It is still on curb side for curb side charging and you'll be able to tow and hopefully not have to disconnect the trailer.
Yes, thank you. I have been preaching this for a long time. We should standardize it to be required to be in that location going forward to make like easier for charger planning etc.
the problem with its location on the R2 (now) is that for those of us in areas that get a lot of snow/ice, that area will be iced/snowed over, making it difficult to get the charge port door open.
That’s the odd thing about moving into the rear - Rivian’s own RAN charging stations almost all have a “double length” stall for vehicles towing - but they’re all designed expecting the charge port to be at the front of the vehicle. An R2 towing would need to disconnect the trailer and back in.
@@AnonymousFreakYT I don't have a Rivian (yet), so haven't been to a RAN station. Would the setup reach of port was located at front passenger?
@@michaelcummins5974 Currently the cords are too short. But much like Tesla doing longer cords for V4, Rivian could do longer cords to solve this. (Which they’ll need to do when they open up their network to other brands anyway.)
Sun shade or electrochromic glass for the roof
The r2 and r3 are the first evs to get me excited. I hope rivian can survive long enough to actually bring them to market.
Everybody is praying they continue to get funding 🙌🏾🙌🏾 please!!
I am way too beyond excited to get mine in 2026. I got my reservation in at 11:07am mountain time so hopefully I got in fast enough! I know a lot of R1 owners will get priority, but it is what it is. Really love this car so much already. It's gonna be perfect for Colorado!
Appalachian Mtns and the Mid Atlantic coastal areas are in my R2's future.
I pray they decide to offer a truck/ute on this new platform as well.
Really hoping for heated AND COOLED front seats! Also, a great sound system. Combine those with what we've seen already and I think I have my nest car picked out.
I really like the size of the R2. Seems just right to me.
The design is why I’m in love with this thing. It’s just so clean without looking sparse. The size is perfect for me, and I think the proportions are even better than the R1S. For many reasons, I would never consider a Model Y, but I’m actually excited for R2. I’m just nervous about the price staying close to $45k and about what $45k will actually buy.
EmmyJune me too . I had a bad experience withe the Blazer which I loved and almost put a reservation for . I didn’t in the end I didn’t like the 2 seat colors they offered. Plus the price jumped up so bad. And when they sold out they wouldn’t even help me with questions. Now they are bugging me but I love this R2 better and at that price I am not worried about what I will get for the price because of the quality of Rivian.
Why not Model Y? Not knocking on you, just curious.
@@josephjoestar515 Since you asked:
1. I don’t think it’s attractive - at all. It’s a blob. I would resent it every time I saw it in my garage.
2. The interior looks like a cost-cutting exercise, which I’m sure it was. Tesla fans use “minimalism” as a euphemism for cheap. If there’s no driver’s cluster, it’s dead to me.
3. They’re everywhere. They’re taxis. They’re Ubers. They’re the electric Camry.
4. Elon
Remember, $45k is the starting price for the most basic version / trim. So that minimally means only 1 motor in the rear, so no sub-3 second to 60mph, smallest battery pack which means less than 300 mi range, and whatever other feature they decide on to be an option. Bottom line, just with any new vehicle, one has to cut thru all the sales/marketing hype and be realistic on what they will include vs option and what you want/need included in the vehicle. E.g. I don't care about sub-3 sec to 60mph, but I do care about range and AWD because I live in the north where we get snow, so RWD is off the table. What would those few requirements translate to? Certainly more than $45k as Kyle alluded to in the video. So if you adjust your expectations and factor in those costs, whatever they happen to come out to be, you lessen your disappointment to even paying what you factored in.... beyond $45k.
Also usage of Qi2 chargers would be great. It will solve both heating up your phone and keeping the phone in place during brisk maneuvers.
Christ these are cool vehicles. The HMI wheels are one of the most beautiful and appealing "heart" of design breakthroughs I've seen in a long time. So stoked!
Can’t wait for the r3 coverage. Hopefully can get mine sometime 2027 and not too much delivery time.
FRONT RIGHT charging spot is win-win.
It will work with Tesla stations and charging along the street!!!
100% THIS ⬆️⬆️⬆️
Front right doesn’t interfere with trailers or cargo off the back.
Also, like you said, would work seamlessly with Tesla’s supercharger network, and still allow for curbside charging.
Seems like there’s a good argument for making front right the standard location for most EV’s going forward.
If you have a tight garage and you cannot reach the front right that’s an issue. That would be my problem. I’d say put one on the rear left and the one on the rear right.
I agree. Unfortunately, they said before that the front right was out of the question due to the new battery layout. If so, then the driver's side rear is their only choice. Low current Level 2 AC is easy to be placed on each side. Plus cities have one way residential streets with parking on each side.
@@onthetrench4178 Or one on both front corners?
It's crazy how non of the truck manufacturers have figured this out yet.
You're onto something good, keep it rolling
An R3 Sport spec without a lift kit would also be a hit to go after the VW GTI crowd.
The non-X R3 should be available in tri-motor.
PLEASE RIVIAN!
Ty nice video Kyle and Alyssa. Reserved 2 R2, in the first min the reservation was opened.
I've been curious about ev's for a while, the R3 is the first one that I'm actually excited about personally. What a neat little whip.
Really great coverage! I'm so excited about these vehicles!
This is a great video! Getting me even more excited about my pre-order.
What I want is - European release, HUD, cooled and heated front seats, ota updates, small screen for the back passengers (something for the kids), nothing longer than 4.7-8 meters max, 500+ liters trunk.
Biggest missed opportunity for Tesla and Rivian are lack of HUDs. The HUDs in cars are bare-bones with bad graphics but Tesla/Rivian would design gorgeous HUDs and be able to charge a premium for them. Of course Tesla won't do it because that would mean investing resources in driver experience and that contradicts their driverless robotaxi aspirations.
I'm putting in an order for a R3 as soon as they let us. Love the look of that car and coming from a Mini Countryman, will be perfect for me!
Very cool, nice work! Definitely like all of the technical details they are including on their screens and in their software about the vehicle.
Dude the R1 is massive! After driving one the other day I said "yeah definitely getting a R2!" i dont need all that space and power lol
1. Spacious inside 2. Reliable 3. Simple enough to be attempted to be fixed in a home garage at a certain level 4. Good charging curve
What exactly would be the thing you would want to be simple enough to repair in a home garage?
Suspension, tires, etc...
@@jacobthiessen7027 I'd be more interested in drivetrain repairs and peripherals that could be damaged during off roading.
You ain't fixing an EV at home lol
@@Rew123Yes because fixing my locking mechanisms, radio, and speakers was only possible at home because they were powered by gas.
Feedback:
-we need a retractable sun shade for the glorious roof window to help with sun exposure and light for families + people who want the shade
-we need a rear window wiper. I know you mentioned the team told you that was happening, but just bringing it up again to make the point
-heated and cooling seats and heated steering wheel
-I don’t like that the cup holders pop out. It seems like something that would break really fast or that wouldn’t be able to hold a large weighted cup well like a reusable water bottle/Starbucks cup/etc. I’d love to see the cup holders in a stationary location.
Kyle and Alyssa, you guys are awesome! I'm only three hours from Normal, but because of work I wasn't able to make the trip yesterday for the R2 meet and greet. Now, thanks to you, I feel like I was actually there to see the car I reserved last month. Now, if I can only get my 2010 Honda Civic stick shift to 2026! Coming up on 300K, but it's still running like a champ. Anyhow, thanks again for the great video. Glad to know there'll be a rear wiper. Nice to see the side mirrors aren't monsters like those on my father's 4Runner.
And you know what - I just made a reservation.
Now it's my goal for next 2 years, and I will do a test drive on summertime, definitely.
I'm so excited!
Love the body style! Adding a heat pump system, sun shade, fast charging, and vented seats.
Great showcase vid of the R2! Question: what ride height/driving position/view of the road does the R2 compare with? Does it sit as high as a Rav4? Or higher? Thanks!
Loving the awesome intro with music and b-roll!
Can't wait for the R3X!
Yeah, it looks really cool!
Things that would make it a no brainer to buy for me would be.
1. Great charging curve for long trips.
2. Lots of range.
3. Great warranty because it’s normal for me to drive a car over 250k miles.
4. Apple CarPlay and Android auto.
5. Make the rearview mirror an actual display because I had this on my RAV 4 and it was super useful.
6. Having the charge port on the rear driver side like Tesla or have one on each side if possible.
7. Heated (sterling wheel/seats) and cooled seats would be awesome.
Very excited about the R2, R3, and especially R3X.
Rivian did a great job yesterday in Normal. I had so much fun, and what a crowd! Looking forward to seeing the Scout series vehicles, but my money is on the R2!
I'm getting one for sure, it has totally blown away the Honda Prologue AND the Acura ZDX for me.
I pray they also decide to come out with a truck/ute on that platform as well. If so, I'll buy one of those too!
Since they are sticking to just "R2" rather than "R2S", I assume that they do not have plans for an "R2T" but having an R2T seems like it should have been a no-brainer. Even if they waited a while before launching an R2T, it seems like a mistake for Rivian to bar it as an option down the road.
By the time it's released, I'm guessing it will be R2S. RJ has hinted at a probable coming truck on the platform. I can't wait to see that, the R1T was almost my perfect truck, but a little too pricey and slightly smaller would be perfect. If they can keep 4' between the wells, but shrink it down a bit more, but still big enough to have a useful back seat and bed... I'm sold.
Really like this and am sure it will be a winner. I do however think the charge port should be on the left rear or the right front so as to make it even more compatible with the Tesla charging network.
Awesome looking vehicle. I was leaning toward buying a refreshed MY when it debuted but now I'm not so sure. DO you know if it will have ambient lighting inside? Thank you Kyle!
Love your videos as they are so interesting and it clearly shows your enthusiasm. Please please can you find out when Rivian is coming to the UK. The R2 is rumoured which would be cool but if they are brining that are they bringing the whole range! As I know the UK and Europe are desperate for these! Carry on the great work 👍
We are looking to replace our 10 year old Crosstrek and sad about the Solterra. Very excited about the r3... may just have to wait a few more years.
Same, I have a 2019 Crosstrek and love the R3
This is it… Rivian will be the ultimate EV vehicle even over Tesla. Everything about them is amazing. Can’t wait to get a R2!
Sure. That might happen if tesla stops making progress starting today. What are the chances that tesla never improves from here on out?
@@Robin-es3osThey have the same bozos making the same mistakes on the latest models.
@@JetFire9 well how come they are still selling more Teslas than all the other EVs in America combined?
@@JetFire9 wow. Those bozos have managed to make the best selling car in the world somehow. Strange
@@Robin-es3os BlackBerry also had the best selling smartphones in the day, and now here we are. The clowns at Tesla are making the same mistake. Love their deer in the headlights look though.
was cool to run into you at the event! hope you enjoyed spending time in BloNo.
I’m personally already sold on the R2 and R3, though moving the charging port to the driver rear would work better for us.
Love the NACS port 🙌🏼
#1 CarPlay
#2 Upgraded audio, at least as an option
2 Must haves.
300 miles for 49k!
Steel roof or built in electronic sunshade.
Fabric seats would be cool.
Traditional Central console ... maybe even a cool box.
All of this!!
I think that's super reasonable. In today's time with current tech that should be attainable
I’ve been waiting for this
Just reserved my R2. I suspect the base single motor will suit my needs perfectly fine. Can’t wait!
2026 is too far out. They need it by 2025….
Definitely agree with this *BIG TIME.*
Too late. Rivian stock broke down through $10 on Thursday
Obviously they are working as fast as they can. These things take time.
It’s really not that far out lol less than 2 years but I expect some delays
Rivian could unfortunately be out of business before this vehicle is released.
It’s a very impressive vehicle and I’m really pulling for Rivian to survive and thrive! It will be interesting to see the actual production version and what the market looks like in 2 years when it comes out.
They need to mode the charging port to the driver's side rear to have any chance. Not moving would greatly affect sales as customers want to be able to charge on V3 Superchargers without needing an extension.
R2 is the prefect size for me. Looking forward in seeing it in person
R2 reservation in! Looks very promising. Things I'm looking for in suv:
1. As much cargo room as possible.
2. Keep pricing in line with model Y or cheaper!
3. Tow option with decent tow capacity (enough to pull a 20 ft boat or approx 5000 lbs).
Infrastructure Needs/wants to make the switch to Rivian less scary:
1. Expand service options in Canada (Ontario).
2. Well placed Rivian adventure network chargers along the 400 series highways in Ontario.
1- charge port on driver’s rear.
2- rear wiper
3- parking sensors
4- Apple Music
5- awesome audio system
6- HUD?
Yeah 1, 2, & 3 are paramount. So much easier to fuel from driver rear on my Jeep, and my Liberty absolutely has to have the rear wiper going on any sort of moisture, so absolutely necessary too.
Honestly I'm curious how this is going to compare against the Jeep Recon since I would call the Y a crossover rather than an SUV.
Parking sensors are great but I would like to see a rear view parking camera and better wireless charging. #4 is high on my list also.
they should do charging ports on both sides like Audi. RJ said his concern was curbside, which is level 2, so really only need level 2 capabilities on the passenger side
Yeah, one for level 2 should not cost a lot since it's only 240V and low current.
Level 2 AC ports on each side is super easy. And keep in mind that all large cities have their residential areas with one-way streets, such as my native NYC, where people park on both the right and the LEFT SIDE. So the passenger side port argument is utterly useless. Unless you want people fighting to only park on the right side of the street. Tell me about how's that going to turn out in a major city like NYC where you already have to fight for ANY parking spot.
Interesting! I didn't know two ports were already being offered on vehicles.
I hope Rivian offers two ports as well ... either in the front corners or the rear corners.
@@B0obJunior Rivian has their own charging network. The curbside rear is compatible with the RAN DCFS. Superchargers are great, but so are the RANs, and by the time the R2 hours the market there will be a lot more of them.
Since the J3400 plug is the same size for all levels of charging, I doubt that a plug that can only handle L2 would get past the liability lawyers. If they put in a second plug it would have do handle everything
Just curious how is there version of auto pilot coming along? Also when will they be refreshing the R1T/S with the new batteries?
Very excited for this vehicle. Love the drain language inside and out so much more than Tesla, with NACS and good charging experiences, it's right up my alley.
My big 4 things I need are fast charging for road trips (Nice curve), Tesla FSD levels of self driving, great sound system, and vented seats.
Driver Rear or Front Passenger for the charging port. Which ever is easier.
Hey! I made it into the background of your video. It was great seeing the R2 in person.
Your video made the Rivian stock price go up today! 📈 Thanks. 🙏
Will they change their frunk to allow a low floor loading area?
Yeah, would like to see the frunk opening more like ford did with the f150 lightning.
Reservation holder here: My one complaint, PLEASE MOVE THE CHARGING PORT TO THE OTHER SIDE! If it has a "NACS" it really needs to be on the other side. I'm currently an apartment dweller. We have a couple charging posts in the complex, but I mainly need to rely on 72Kw "URBAN" chargers once a week or so and having the charge port on the wrong side just would be such a pain, not to mention road trip super charging. Thanks Rivian and Out of Spec!
Front right would also be acceptable
@@BrandonDoyleMN Front right makes the most sense
Back left is the best spot, I always back in to spots including my garage and the back right is the best spot so I can get out from the left side drivers seat and plug in. For overseas right back might make sense.
Front left and back right (OR front right and back left?)…. Two ports, allowing an option for how to charge based on your individual parking situation. Tesla has two charging ports on certain models [Edit: No they don’t, I was mistaken], Rivian should be able to do it also.
[I was mistaken on the part about Teslas having two charge ports, they do not. My point still stands that I think EVs should have two charge ports though]
@@jaanfo3874 which Tesla models have two charge point locations?
Those scrolling wheels on the steering wheel are amazing, they are a good combo of Apple Watch crown with the haptics and Logitech scroll wheel because that one can also click left and right
I think some things could be options (with $) since can't please many of the opposite wants including the "need" to keep the base price low and simplify the initial manufacturing:
a) no glass or glass roof perhaps?
b) 2nd charge port location with towing package (hitch, wiring, etc) and/or with dual/tri motor versions. (I understand with only single motor/rear drive the charge port is in the rear to save costs on high voltage wiring.)
c) assuming at some point enough sales, an option for some air/ride height suspension.
d) some of the seat types as options perhaps
e) I do not need(want) a rear/2nd seat screen. Perhaps this can be an option with certain configurations (though the wiring harness would be different which adds more complications for manufacturing.)
f) cold weather enhancements package option
g) off road extra underside protection option package
For me, looking for dual motor, large battery pack, with optional towing hitch potentially as the version I'll get. I might do a cold weather package and off road protection packages too in available and depending on the costs.
Rivian, please bring the R3 to market ASAP!!!
Yes, Tesla cancelled the "Model 2" good time to bring R3 now!!!
Wow. Can’t wait for them to come to Germany. Hopefully at a reasonable price point.
Kommt nur der R2 oder auch der R1 zu uns?
@@Knnnkncht Soweit ich weiß nur R2 und R3.
I'm so excited for the R2. I followed the R1S all the way up to its release, genuinely believing I would be driving one as soon as there was a delivery available for me. Then they announced the price, and I was soul-crushed. I've driven Jeep Grand Cherokee sized SUVs my whole life. They fit me and my lifestyle perfectly. Sadly, the R1S doesn't fit my bank account, so I had to be satisfied just owning stock in the company. I placed my deposit on the R2 within the first couple of minutes of the unveiling. I WILL be driving one as soon as they have a delivery available for me.
In the video, you asked what we'd like to see added to/changed about the R2 and that Rivian would be paying attention to the feedback. I'm also a dog person, so on top of the suggestion of B pillar or rear seat roof line vents, I'd love to see that back window have the ability to be opened partially, not just fully up or fully down. My dogs 100% would leap out that rear window at the first sight of a squirrel or deer. Or another dog or person, or whatever they felt they just HAD to go say hello to. It's great the rear windows pop out, but to have those out AND the rear window open enough for their heads to stick out (but not their whole bodies)....well, that's just dog heaven.
I'm excited for the R2, and I'm excited for Rivian as well. They're knocking it out of the park with their entire lineup, and I can't wait to see them turn their first profits and find long term success as a manufacturer.
For me, like Alyssa said, I’d like to see AC vents in the B pillars or roof vents. Better position to cool the kids or dogs.
Pano roof shade/cover for us living in hot weather areas. Helps battery efficiency to use less energy to cool the cabin.
Wireless apple CarPlay.
Best review of R2, as always, Kyle!! Typical amazing, relevant and even NEW info! Had no idea that the front turn signals were below the bumper! Also, nice confirmation on rear wiper 🙌🫡
What would I like to see: V2L, good charging, and some towing capabilities
Love everything but the NACS location. In my garage, I already have the Tesla wall connector on the left. Did they consider that most Tesla customers would?
I think the location is definitely getting changed before production, it's a really strange spot.
@@OM61777I would like it to be higher up, but I’m fine with it on the passenger side same as my Fiat and VW. It took a little adjustment after my Tesla, but it was easy to adjust
@@kenmcclow8963 Do your Fiat and VW charge on the largest charging network on the planet which is full of V3 Superchargers without taking 2 pots?
My cable would have no problem reaching.
I am very excited for the R2, and am glad I put a reservation. I hope that the charge port is ether on the front passenger side, or the rear driver side. I think the front passenger would be perfect in case anyone is towing or maybe has some kind of gear hanging off the back. My only other hope is that it's easier to get in to than the R1. The head room climbing in to the R1 is a little rough, but once inside, it's great.
I have preordered the R2 and I’m sooo excited for it. I’ll be using that space in front of the pull out tray for my purse. That way when I have a passenger I have a place for my purse. I love all of the physical buttons, the fold flat seats all the way through the front, the rear hatch having the roll down glass, and the overall look is really sharp. I would love a stationary cup holder for the driver. Like I almost always have a cup/tumbler with me. I don’t want a pull out cup holder that could possibly break under the weight of a tumbler going in and out repeatedly.
CarPlay might be the deal breaker for me. We'll see, it's still 2 years away.
Get over it. Tesla and Rivian infotainment systems are far superior to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
RJ .. It needs native side charging for us!!
Thanks Kyle and Alyssa great video and great job interviewing RJ, he gave Munro Live hints of 800V architecture was hoping he would confirm that with you but he did say really fast charging so really hoping they do the 800V in this vehicle and truly make it a premium charging experience for a premium brand.
So awesome that you have been able to share this with us. L
Kyle, put it to RJ this way:
RJ, this is what you're telling your potential customers, "Look, we gave it a NACS port so you don't have to carry around an adapter to be able charge on the largest, most reliable network on the planet... But... unfortunately, we're placing the port on the passenger rear, so you'll have to carry around an even more cumbersome extension."
Now the age old question. Can they make it for a profit?
As a consumer, I guess I don’t see why that matters so much. I don’t buy cars based off of how much money the company makes on them
I get the consumer point and not caring about margins, but I also understand worrying as to whether or not they’ll survive as a company. If I’m making a large purchase with a car, I want to have piece of mind my product will be backed and serviced for years to come (instead of being in the situation some fisker ocean owners are currently in). I love Rivian as a company and their products are incredible so I truly hope they’ll sort everything out because If they do it’ll definitely be my next car!
Beautiful lineup!
Can we get the frunk with a low/zero load height? Either incorporate the “grille” into the hood or have it articulate separately so it folds down into a bench or just allows for easier loading of items.
If Rivian can produce enough of these they will sell worldwide. So far the R1 has been limited to only the USA.
Will they finally offer carplay?
being able to turn nice and tight like the cybertruck is a great feature often overlooked. if they could do that that'd be great
Consider moving the cruise control/driver assistance toggles to the left stalk?
A lot of us drive with only one (left) hand most of the time, especially on the highways where we might toggle/change cruise control/ADAS speeds. Would be preferred if it were on the left stalk!
Excited R2 reservation here.. Go Rivian!
Definitely the charge port on all electric cars should be on the driver side rear or the passenger side front.
I believe that R2 is the fifth Rivian BEV, not the second. The first four seem to be the EDV 500, EDV 700, R1T, and R1S.
I'd like to see at least two feet in wading depth. Many people live in flood-prone areas and could benefit from such a feature, and this would be consistent with an off-road capability, which this vehicle will likely have.
Yeah I mean to say second platform or vehicle architecture if you will
I hope the 3X is available with the standard wheels; can't decide how I feel about the 3X wheels.
But everything about 2 looks awesome. Agreed on thoughts about air vents, and charge port location.
For the middle glove box, does it interfere at all when the cupholders are popped out? Hope not.
For the record - I used that seatback hook this weekend in my R1S - and used it previous weekend on a road trip.
I don’t get why they wouldn’t put the charge port in the native location and have NACS? Like isn’t that the point??
probably thinking more people want to pull in, not back in to charge. but that only works if the (Tesla) cabling is long enough.
That is the single location that allows owners to use the Tesla network with unmodified cables and pull a trailer
@@petehelme7714 Huh? They placed on the passenger side REAR. What does that have to do with pulling in?
LOL. That's what I've been saying all along. What's the point of adding a NACS port negating the need for an adapter, when you place the port in a location where you now need an extension? What kind of mindset is that?
@@Paul-cj1wb I guess I was thinking if one is pulling into a standard Tesla SC stall, which are oriented to the right side, then at least the cable is situated there. but since it's currently rather short it doesn't really matter :). if I'm not mistaken, BMW, M-B, Genesis/Hyundai and others have it there too.
Please, no vision-only-parking, it doesn’t work well in Teslas, dedicated sensors are just more reliable and accurate
If Rivian is listening, please make sure that the R2 has the following important features:
1. Digital rearview mirror instead of a conventional one as it significantly improves visibility.
2. B-pillar and center console air vents with a separate screen in the rear center console for tri-zone climate control. B-pillar vents are not only necessary for dogs but also for humans as center console air vents alone are ineffective.
3. Heated and cooled seats in both rows or at least heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats.
4. Reclining rear seatbacks.
5. Heads-up display is extremely helpful.
If Rivian can add most or all of these crucial features and still keep the price around $45,000, I guarantee that I and thousands of other people will eagerly buy the R2 as the Rivian R2 is the electric Subaru Outback that everyone needs.
Love both the R2 and the R3, glad they will head to Europe, I will definitely consider them as my next one ❤. These need levers in the trunk to fold the 2nd row though.
Do or die for Rivian!!! Why the roll up or down rear window? Extra expense for old accessory that can break!
It's a useful feature, and vehicles had those decades ago on station wagons, and very few problems arose.
Or port on wrong side driving customers away.
@@Paul-cj1wb it's not driving customers away, as the actual port location is not confirmed
@@jamespaul2587 Not driving customers away? Please scroll down to every comment on this video talking about it and then come back. Just look at the massive amount of them all wanting the change with many saying it's a deal breaker for them otherwise. Just search for "port" and expand all comments.
I know it's not confirmed. But we are all trying to make sure it's NOT confirmed and changes. Some are even asking for a petition to demand the change.
@Paul-cj1wb there will be more than enough orders for this vehicle to fulfill the low initial production volumes, and Rivian will almost certainly change the chargeport location to front right or rear left corner, or both to suit the Tesla chargers which was a recent development
It looks like a Renault Badge
I'm pretty confident that I will be getting an R2 within the next two years. Things that would alter that decision:
-If the dual motor version of the R2 significantly exceeds the price of a Model Y (by more than $8k)
-If there are any battery pack reliability issues that surface (the pack is the most expensive part)
-If there are any reports of the ride being harsh (I need something smoother than the Model Y, my dogs get stressed by car rides)
-I also really want Carplay support since it's simple to implement, but I don't think it's a deal breaker.. Will just have my phone on the dash.
I love the charge port location on the curb side. In the nose would be ideal for towing, but not a deal breaker.
The air vents in the cargo area are perfect for the dogs.
I'm most interested in learning about the tech specs on drivetrains and batteries, ASAP as possible.
