    Hi Tony! I like so much to follow suit, how calmly you work! No rush at all, low pressure, low volume with every guns.. do you thin your paint more than normaly? You have very nice compressor (150L? from GT air).. I did ask you about the hoses, but lately i saw that the other hose was short.. Thank you for very nice videos, keep going!

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi no i thin my paint to the manufacturer recommendations> yes its the 150lt from gt air the hose i use in the workshop is just a short ish hose the one i use in the booth is a long flexible hose thats long enough to go fully from front to back and around the whole car at once

    Another great vid Tony, I can remember when these cars were king of the road. How long do you leave between your drop coat and applying clear? Also if there were to be any dirt in your base cost what's the best way to de nib? Regards.

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally i like to wet flat and polish my jobs most of the time unless they are extremely clean then il use the 3m purple stars on a denibing block and just nib the dirt and polish those areas , thats how i usually do it mate

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Barry Gallagher I think I have t around 15-20 minutes on this occasion mate before clear , and I'd use a p1000 nib the first from the base then dust back over the area with base to make sure there are no sanding marks but unless it's a big dirt nib or a different colour dirt nib to the paint if you get me I wouldn't usually bother as the clear would probably bury it

    Do you feel that painting bumpers and Doors separate ever gives you color match problems? My mate claims that painting body panels separated gives you static electricity issues or even paint that wont quite match. I am asking because i also want to remove the doors to do the jams properly like on this Escort.

      see my latest series on the audi the simple answer is its fine if you do the same amount of coats ect

    I'm just starting to follow your work and as I've said before I like how you paint, ie not running around like a mad man, anyway I've only painted a few cars as I work in forestry equipment painting botex products, I have done metallic jobs with no issues, more luck than skill, what I'm interested in knowing is does the drop coat feel kinda rough when finished or do you put it on just wet enough for a smooth finish, also shoot with balleria and ws 400, cheers

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks jim and no it shouldnt feel rough mate you should keep that nice smooth surface tbh

    I have heard people here (in oz) call that last "drop" coat you did as a "dust" coat. I sprayed Ford meteor years ago with 1k acrylic in a similar colour and it was a hot day (like proper hot lol. Where I am it's not uncommon to get a whole week above 40 degrees in summer) and it was thinned to buggery to get it to even land half wet. In hotter conditions, can u cool the base or clear like you can heat the clear in winter? I was going to try that next summer in a test panel.

    hi matey, great vids, ive got one of these spray booths and i struggle with light inside, where did you get the lights please,what brightness are they (w) and how did you manage to keep them at top without them falling off please, sorry for all questions and thanks again for the great vids :)

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrCaralarmz hi and no problem , I've used rechargeable led floodlights 20w ones , used industrial strength Velcro on the base of the light and then on the booth , so I can fit as and when needed if you message me through our Facebook page I can send you a link to everything you need

    • @MrCaralarmz
      @MrCaralarmz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      cheers matey, i was thinking of velcro and then having some stitched into material of booth, do you find it better than your home made booth? ive toyed with idea of building one but extraction plans are a nightmare:( makes such a change to see someone paint but also show their filler work etc, plus its all done on cars we all love or work on, ive been painting for near 15 years now and still find new tips an tricks from guys like you every day :)

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrCaralarmz thanks mate and yeah I'll trying to make it and keep it on jobs we do rather making up a video on a demo on a new panel , real world work in real world situations with products available to all , and tbh the industrial Velcro I have I warmed the backing stuck it down and believe me it won't be falling off lol and I find if you concentrate on your prep and cleaning the job down this booth performs as clean as a proper booth and is miles better than the home made one as it's positive pressure so pushes crap out rather than sucking crap in
