    Titled "Why Are 50" Wide Side-x-Sides so Popular" and it turns into a commercial for Arctic Cat. Try keeping the subject on track, Dirt Trax.

    Bought the Wildcat Trail new in the XT version in 2015. No problems. Gets to 110kmh pretty quickly. It has a true locking front diff and a very low range. The Fox shocks were easy to set up, ride excellent and smooth the 10" of ground clearance. I did not like the stock tires too much so I changed them ($400). Its not the new XX that is for sure but for this category it is the best by far in my opinion. Great video as always!

    Canam just came out with their version of a 50 In. Machine, called a "Maverick Trail". It is 50 inches wide and has a 90.6 inch wheelbase. The 72 HP model has full doors standard.

    well not every body likes going at 40 miles hour on flat trails, some of us like going 70 mph on whoops that are 2ft deep out in open dessert and that's where long and wide wheel base is needed.

    why longer?? do the people that design these things not have to put them on trailers to get them to the trail? my rzr800 and 5 quads barely fit in my 23' trailer, the last this we need is bigger

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheGoProLife 6 machines on one trailer, that's pretty good I think. A 5x10 trailer is big enough to haul one of these, that's not unreasonable. A compact truck or suv could easily tow a small trailer like that. Longer wheelbase is more stable, i.e. safer.

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're still shorter than the normal width 60" or more side by sides. Manufacturers won't build something with an atv length wheelbase except for the new Polaris Ace and I'm not exactly sure how you classify that one. I think its basically still considered an atv. I think they would be afraid a short wheelbase would be too easy spin out. The longer wheelbase can be an advantage in certain low speed trail situations as it gives a better approach and departure angle, less likely to snag the front or rear bumper on an obstacle. Longer wheelbase doesn't necessarily mean longer overall, they just moved the axles closer to end of the frame on both ends.

      I had a Rhino 700. Doesn't even compare to the new 50" (Rhino was taller and wider) Rhino was a solid machine but a whole different animal. Top speed was what 45 mph or something. WC Trail I've had mine to 66mph at 9000' altitude. Hits 60-62 pretty quick but hits 55+ fast. And the acceleration is stunning.

    I bought a new Polaris 900 trail! and I think its major improvement from the old 800s and it beats the artic cat as well. I respect the artic cat. but I just don't think its quite as refined as the new Polaris. they don't have nearly as much experience in the sport side by side. I think they'll get there but not yet.

    yamaha was the original pioneer of the sport side by side with the rhino. they only started putting doors on the as standard equipment because of the millions of dollars in lawsuits generated by the massive stupidity of the consumers that didn't have enough since to slow down while going around turns.

    We are thinking of buying a side by side next spring. We have a gator 6x4 and love it but time for something new. We have atv trails that the gator fits on. I love the look of the full size wild cat and rzr more than the 50 inchers. We also need something that can haul trailers or ha cargo but is also fun. What's the answer? And help would be great. I'm sure you were sponsored by arctic-cat which I believe can-am and Polaris both have arctic-cat beat in performance, the 50" segment article is great a lot of people don't understand you are going to miss out on a lot of unique and awesome places you can not get to on big sideXsides from my past experience in northern Michigan!!!

    • @kong3
      @kong3 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only talking about 50" Polaris Can-am etc great machines and another discussion if this was about 900's and 1000's. But when AC WC came out it was a total blowout. Now Po had dropped the 800 and upgraded the 50" 900 rzr. Po also comes in 50, 60, 70" wide.
      50" width trails and 1000#'s or less is where the Forrest Service was heading for some years.
      If you want to go everywhere, the 50" is the machine.
      I have a WC Trail XT and a 2010 RZR 800 LE. They are both great but the WC Trail is superior UNTIL now... with the new 900 50. (Except the RZR costs more)

      u forget. its 1000 pounds or less as well as 50". the rzr 900 is 1174 pounds dry. that means even tho its 50" u still cant go down those trails. that means its completely useless for its intended purpose. also looking at its weight in comparison to the wildcat trail. the trail and the rzr900 have almost the exact same power to weight ration. with 15.64 pounds per HP in the 900 and 15.71 pounds per HP in the wildcat. meaning the 900 is same speed as the cat and its almost 5 grand more expensive. sorry but in my opinion the cat wins hands down.

    • @kong3
      @kong3 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      djwasted87 Price for base model to base model is +$900 for Polaris base model. +$1000 diff for Eps models. 1000# limit is not same everywhere so be sure to check. Even 50" isnt same everywhere with some areas becoming more restrictive and some becoming less. Weight ratios not withstanding Po is faster period, ive driven the eps model. Love my WC but appreciate what Polaris has done. Wife has Po 800 le. If their dealers didnt suck so bad out here, id buy a new Polaris trail EPS tomorrow.

      Shaky Hand Pictures yes, opinions are like assholes. Facts on the other hand are few and far between. The fact is, 50" sxs are the most idiotic thing since the outlawing of the 3 wheeler. They're cramped. They're vastly underpowered. Their suspension sucks. A 2up atv is a far better option than a 50 if you want to ride with two folks in an area with a 50" trail restriction.

    I'm more into the multi purpose sxs I need a sxs that's good for work and play I'm gonna go after the prowler 1000xt arctic cat yamaha and suzuki all have one thing in common they use the same centrifugal cluch in other words they never go through belts and you can go places that the polaris can't go in high range you have to put the polaris in low in mud arctic cat can be in high range in mud just like yamaha sxs can and arctic Cats don't go through cv boots like crazy like polaris does nothing against polaris their still better than honda but polaris needs to start working on a cluch like yamaha and arctic Cat uses it would benefit them and would prevent belt wear and they need to address the cv boot problem and they would be beastly

    • @Carcajoo121
      @Carcajoo121 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You`re right in that the higher center of gravrity of the 50 inch rzr will be more prone to tipping than the 50 inch wildcat trail that has a lower center of gravity which enables it to corner faster as well! The only advantage the rzr has over the wildcat is an inch of ground clearance , which can be easily fixed by swapping larger tires on the WC trail

    I have a 2015 TRV arctic cat 1000 and a RZR 800 2012
    To mane this short an sweet I would not give the tires of my RZR for the Cat . I know every time I go on the Cat I have trouble like fuses, boiling over, Oil hose coming of because of a clamp it should have a fitting . If you don't belive me get the Cat an see for your self . I still think they can make somithing out of Cat if they look at little things like that . I had 11 Yamaha over the years used them in the back country 70% mud and water never had to get any help to get back home Then a 8 wheel ARGO was good but rough .I say 1 rock gave four bumps The RZR 800 do better then all of them . I had the Cat 11 times in the back country had to get help every time to get back home . In the type of go we have here . WINNER BY FAR RZR SHE HAD TO PULL THEM ALL OUT OF THE MUD . I am sad I didn't know untill 2012 hat of to Polaris .... I dont even know any one at Polaris I am in a small town have to drive 4.5 hr to get a part glad I dont need many LOL
