    28:20 is when I decided to give a 👎. I think most people watching are quilters and want a jacket to show off their skills. You just stopped teaching jacket making at that time in my opinion. Most quilters don't know how to make clothes. It is far easier to teach a simple quilt block than it is to show how to assemble a jacket. The first 11 minute could have been cut and not made me any difference. I know this wasn't made just for me but from other comments it seems I'm not alone. I would rather have had a 5 hour video than this short nothing burger. Is there a time limit for how long your videos can be? I would watch a 5 part series of 1 hour videos. This video would be better for a mostly seamstress channel. Sadly the hunt for a video to make a quilt jacket carries on. 🥺 Anyone who reads this and knows of a good step by step (in detail) quilt jacket tutorial please drop it below.🙏👍 Please and Thank you!

    I really watched this video for help with the mining. I felt you just breezed over it like it was an afterthought that we all knew how to do. I needed less time spent on the deconstruction of the sweatshirt and more time spent on the construction process.

      Sorry, so many steps to cover. We will discuss a short video to cover the binding in the future.

    I just watched laundry basket quilts tutorial on making a quilted jacket but your tutorial is so much more detailed. I so appreciate all the specific details. I emailed this to my self. I will purchase your pattern. Thanks for making it available as a download. I plan on making a jacket for my 61st Birthday in Jan 2023. My Mom taught me to sew when I was a a teen and now I am 60. I made so many tops, skirts and clothes for myself in high school and later for my kids over the years. A few years ago I decided to learn to quilt. I so love how garment sewing and quilting have now come together.

      Thanks for the great comment! The Ladies worked real hard on that one.

    Wonder if there’s a way to sew an invisible zipper into the front? I mean, obviously it would be easy but how would or could you hide the back/inside edges of the zipper?

    Wow my mom passed away in June with breast cancer and I'm learning to sew in honor of her. The quilt behind you reminds me of her because we had one just like it growing up and then you mentioned the fabric and it was like she is speaking to me through this video. Very touching. It's so hard to understand the difficulties and triumphs breast cancer patients/ survivors have and the families feelings after they lose a loved one to it. I'm a beginner, so this is very challenging, but I must get that fabric now! ❤RIP Mom! 🙏🏼

    Autocorrect is such a pain. I was talking about needing help with the binding, not mining. Ugh!

    Great video. I learned so much! I too found it to be so much easier to follow than other ones that I have watched. So much more detail. Brilliant!

    Would it not be better to buy a sweatshirt pattern, they are cheaper than a quilt pattern, there are also free ones

    Morning, in getting the pattern, I'd prefer the paper one but in ordering is it just digital?

    I normally wear a 2x -3x sweatshirt ( depends on Manufacturer). Do you have suggestions for us big girls?

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe you could find a pattern that comes 2 sizes larger than you wear, and just cut the pieces out of sweatshirt fabric or even quilt batting. 😊🌷

    To prevent the fabric from stretching could you use lightweight interfacing or 505 spray? Would this help?

    • @carolynnewsome6878
      @carolynnewsome6878 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Always a possibility. One of those weft interfacings perhaps, or the spray. Anything to nail the pieces together. I do both quilting and dress making and it never made sense to baste and then immediately sew something unless you really want it perfect before sewing it permanently. One could eliminate the pins that way also.
      She laid one of the pattern pieces right in the middle of the fabric; If it were laid next to the selvage you would have a nice large piece by the center crease.

    Can you use light fusible web double sided to stop the stretching on the sweatshirt?

      If you want some additional reinforcement, we don't see why not.

      Loved this tutorial, thank you. Is there any way to deal with the extra bulk on sleeves--I have made a sweatshirt jacket before and there was too much bulk under arm on sleeve from arm pit to elbow. Hard to alter and keep sleeve attachment to body of sweatshirt same measurement. Thank you in advance for help.

      Sure, you will either have to really plan ahead or just go with a scrappy look, but should work. Send me a photo please, Rob@stitchinheaven.com

    Great job ladies. I guess the kit is sold out but do you still have the fabric you used for the lining? Thx
